After a stroll around we decided to check out Brisa's. We weren't going to stay, but everyone was so friendly, that we did. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The place is nice inside and live that they have a patio. We opted to sit at the bar to have a drink and try out some apps. The bartender was very friendly and he was informative. Our drinks were very good. Apps were fine. Tasty, but I felt pricey for what you got. Not much filling in the empanadas, but the sauce was got that accompanied it. The shrimp was fine. Sauce could use a little more flavor. We will go back to try other things and maybe dinner one night. read more

Dislikes: My dish - Lomo saltado - lived up to its name - not overly salty, just more salt than I would have liked. The green onions were not peeled and cut so there was big long pieces of green onion. His dish - stuffed chicken the habanero sauce was not spicy at all for him. LIKES: Coconut shrimp cooked perfect with a delight of a sauce. Both our dishes - how we like it - big portions! Tender steak, beautifully cooked egg, good texture and flavor on the rice. Growing up in New York City's thriving latin community, I always crave great latin cuisine. I must admit that I have tried many places in and around the greater Danbury area and have not been able to find a restaurant that offers pescatarian and vegetarian options and this place is definitely a keeper! The food is very flavorful and beautifully presented. We visited on a Friday evening around 6pm and the place was empty when we arrived, but by 7:45p, the crowds started pouring in. They offer a DJ on Saturday nights. I was told Saturday nights are the busiest nights. The wait staff were all incredibly eager to accommodate any dietary needs we had. Including providing double portions of spinach instead of starch. The ambiance is beautiful and relaxing. The lighting, floral arrangements and music help to enhance the tropical feel. The restaurant has a nice bar and great homemade flan that is a must for dessert. Although I didn't take pictures of the dishes we ordered (we gobbled it up too fast) we enjoyed the Mediterranean salad, sweet potato tacos and a modified paella without the chorizo as we don't eat pork. The Chicken Quesadilla app was very good as were the Yucca Fries. The Crab Cake app was outstanding. I had the Brisas Fried Rice for my main, which included chicken with 4 nice sized shrimp and a fried egg on top. Wow, it was great and a very large portion. Wife had Tuna Taco with mango and chili sauce, which she loved. We finished it off with the fried banana, another wow. My family and I decided to have a celebratory lunch at this new place. It's opened only 5 months now. Place was very clean , roomy and welcoming. It also has a nice large patio area to dine. The service was great, friendly and attentive. They had a mix of American and Latin music playing. It also has a nice spacious bar area you can choose to dine in. I ordered the Cuban sandwich that comes with a side of French fries. I'm picky about Cuban sandwiches, since my father has made them as long as I can remember and my pet peeve is the bread. The sandwich needs to be nit just toasted but very flat. They did it exactly the traditional way! I would've preferred a little more fresh garlic seasoning but it was still delicious. It was Saturday so I thought we should make a reservation. We arrived at 5:45 and were prompted seated. Though I hadn't been to the restaurant in its former incarnation for many years ( Pancho and Gringos) the decor seemed freshened up- sparkling clean, in fact. It was still rather dark, which was not helped by the fact that they chose to paint ( or maybe, keep?) the walls black. Still, a restaurant cannot be solely judged by its decor. We'd all prefer a startup restaurant to invest more heavily on the food and the chef, right? Unfortunately, the full menu was not available on the website so our first glance of the menu was when we were seated. Oddly, it appeared to be solidly geared toward Mexican fare. I wondered why it had been deemed a "Latin Fusion" restaurant. Flipping the menu over I discovered items that expanded my initial impression ( including Chicken Francese !). Still, I found nothing that appeared very much outside the usual fare. Somewhat disappointed, my friend and I settled on Sangria from the page- long drink menu and Dos Equis beer was ordered for the husbands. Our server returned moments later with the unfortunate news that neither the house sangria nor Dos Equis was in stock. WHAAAT? Finally, a tip that they were trying very hard NOT to be considered just another Mexican restaurant. What Mexican restaurant would ever be without those two essentials??? Well, now for the good part and the reason for the stars. Our meals were fantastic. My fish tacos were the absolute best I've had outside of Veracruz. I'm not sure exactly what was in the tacos besides the fish but they were amazing. The flour tortillas were fresh and perfectly warmed up. They didn't even break when lifted from the plate. My husband had the lobster risotto and didn't stop to ask if I wanted to share until the verrrry end. That's when I knew he loved it. One final word about the noise level. When we first arrived, the restaurant was filled largely with families finishing up their Saturday list of activities before going home for the evening. By the time we ordered, a steady stream of new diners were arriving and the music was cranked up. We asked if the music could be turned down and they kindly did so at once. But even this could not offset the poor acoustics of the filled room. We were a table of four but we had difficulty hearing one another. Perhaps, when the owners dig deeper into a refurbishment budget they might do some sound deadening? In summary, go and enjoy this new restaurant !The hiccups were minor and will surely be resolved as the months go by. In the meantime, perhaps avoid going on a busy Saturday. Let me start with the mofongo! If you don't know what it is, I highly recommend trying it because you can't get it everywhere. My mother made it at home (fried plantains, smashed with a protein i.e., pork, chicken, shrimp, beef or cheese). We always order it for the table as an appetizer, especially when dining with Gringos. The chuleton (pork chop) is awesome, the churrasco, superb, and thank God, they have a paella, because my husband, who is consistent if nothing else, only orders either paella or zuppa de pesce, wherever he goes, and is happy as a clam. Is obvious that the bartender don't know what they doing. They messed up a regular classics margarita. All drinks we had were either way off or heavily sweet. A birthday party was happening and the musics way too loud that you can't have a conversation without screaming at each other. The bar service is very bad and slow. Second time we've been there. Fantastic service. Excellent margaritas. Try the old fashioned with the cinnamon stick. Love the calamari and the nachos were delicious. The service was table side service was excellent , but the food was below average for a Father's Day Sunday brunch. My children(14/16) saved up their allowance money to treat me for brunch. My daughter ordered chicken and waffles... The waffles were Eggo's style and the chicken was from a frozen bag from Costco . It was rather disturbing , but I was not going to make a scene because they saved up for the $90 + Eggo waffle experience. I am appreciative of their gesture. But to be honest the chef or kitchen staff cannot serve that for brunch ... It was an experience that I should have said something , but when you see the pride in your children's eyes of " we have the bill dad " , then you comment on another day of the food quality not there and then. But , good luck and if that's what you consider a authentic chicken and waffles breakfast please treat yourself to a diner and order that same meal ...you may be surprised to the difference in quality of what is served in your establishment and what other restaurant's standards are. The fish was kind of tough and chewy, and didn't seem fresh, and was lacking in flavor. The vegetables were also pretty boring. The wife had the Brisas Fried Rice with Shrimp, which I also found to be lacking in flavor. The presentations were very nice. There is a bar that seats about 12 people. We got a avocado salad for an appetizer, it was fresh and really good with a lot of avocado. We got blackberry margarita and a mango one and they were delicious! My husband got steak and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were divine. I got a sweet potato taco and it was a wonderful flavorful taco I loved it. Had an enjoyable time at Brisas! First, the waitress was super friendly and engaging. This restaurant is very new and she helped us with what's great on the menu as well as recommending the specials of the day. By her recommendation, we got the chicken nachos: very nicely done, plentiful, and delicious! For the main courses we ordered the Skirt steak and the Brisas Paella, both were excellent! So nicely prepared and the Skirt steak was cooked perfectly! My only regret is not taking pics for this review... We arrived midday on a Saturday, it was a little quiet no doubt because they've only been open a few weeks. I have no doubt that will change, because people are usually attracted to a quality experience! So go check out Brisas sooner than later, you won't be disappointed! I went to Brisas last night with my wife and another couple. Everything was wonderful. The drinks were awesome. The appetizers and main entrees were delicious. Service was spot on. The only negative I can say is that when the bill came (we got two checks as each couple was paying their own check), the tip for each bill was already included at 20 percent. I would normally leave a 20 percent tip anyway but it was somewhat surprising that it was already included without the waitress making us aware of this. I am accustomed to restaurants including the tip on larger parties but like I said, we were surprised at the tip being included for two people. If you didn't notice that the tip was included, it would have been very easy to leave a second tip. All in all, it was very good dining experience! We will be back! read more

Just had a wonderful dinner at Brisas in Brookfield. Very clean facility with attentive staff and fabulous food. Cerviche was fresh, plentiful and excellent, very tasty. The calamari was special, with sauce that was sweet and lightly spiced. I had the grilled octopus - tender and well prepared. My wife had the garlic shrimp - really enjoyed it. All items were tastefully presented and portions were quite ample. Highly recommend Brisas for a pleasant and tasty meal. read more
