A friend recommended Los Andes in Danbury, and saw many glowing yelp reviews, so we visited. This is an Ecuadorian restaurant . We arrived early for dinner so there weren't a lot of people in the dining room area. The bar was packed , with the local residents, and they were a little loud. A good sign, I thought because they chose to unwind here, for food and drinks. The young lady who greeted us spoke to us in spanish, so I responded in kind. She asked for our drink choices so I asked for a diet coke with lemon. She said they had No diet. So, I asked for water with lemon. Got a water with lime... Ok, the menu choices were pretty typical, so I asked for a lomo Saltado (hubby ordered the same). What we got looked like the lomo, but tasted like carne asada with tomatoes, onions and peppers(Peruvians do not use peppers). Now I like carne asada, and it was tasty, but wasn't what I had in mind. Anyway, the portions were huge and I couldn't finish. Had half my plate left. So I asked the lady I wanted to take it home (in spanish- me lo quiero llevar). She took the plate, and returned a while later with the bill. I asked her for my food, and she said I didn't ask her for it. I told her I did ask her, and my husband said I did. She said it had already been thrown out, so that was it. Then she said the same thing happened earlier in the week with another customer. So I would caution anyone with leftovers to tell the waitresses ad nauseam that you want it back - or better yet, not have leftovers, lol. Hated to give 2 stars. Overall, food tasted good, but not what you ordered. Service not so good, even if you're bilingual. Forget it if you want a diet drink or lemon slice. But they do have a very good aji sauce. Hubby was licking his fingers. This wasn't cheap, so I was really disappointed she just threw away the food. If she thought I didn't like it, she could have asked why. But in fact, I did tell her it was good, and that I couldn't have dessert cuz I was too full. So be extra clear (?), idk.

The food was okay, but I was very disappointed in the service. Appetizers took forever to come out,…read moreand our server never apologized for the wait nor checked on us to see how our meal was. Oysters were very good, but the calamari came out cold and was very bland and overpriced. The aesthetics are solid for the establishment, and the entree was decent. Not a bad restaurant, but the service is a major downside and needs significant improvement.

Overall a good first experience with a few "eh". But I also understand this restaurant just opened…read moreand is finding their way. Starting out with the aesthetic, not a fan and not a huge fan of the layout. The black painted walls and low ceilings make it feel a bit claustrophobic. There weren't really any decor up yet when I went so it just felt dark and dreary. You walk into the dining room with a bar on the right with bar seating (very tight fitting) and then a bar all the way on the left? It was also super hot in the building the night we went so our party of 3 just felt squeezed in and uncomfortable. But moving on the to the food. We really enjoyed it for the most part, the burger being the best. My steak was pretty fatty and tasted okay. I liked the salad part. We ordered the burrata for app and was confused that it doesn't come with bread or crackers? So we asked for some on the side and we had to giggle at how tiny the little pieces were and the serving size. We needed to ask for a second serving of bread. All in all I would try it again but I'll probably wait for them to establish more of a routine and direction. I really enjoyed Rein Osteria and will continue to go to that. So I'm hoping The Reserve goes in a little different direction so our community as more unique options.

At the recommendation of some locals, we visited Rebellion Kitchen and Bar and we're glad we did…read more It's a great addition to the Danbury dining scene and also to our restaurant rotation! We started with a really great two cheese crostini which was delicious. I paired that with a rye old fashioned (or two) and that drink really hit the spot. For my entree I had a meatball hero which was just as delicious the next day when I had the second half for lunch. The portion was huge and I loved the meatballs and the sauce. For dessert we had a cheesecake with a house made pistachio creme which was amazing. We had a chance to talk to Tim who I believe owns the place and we asked him about a sign we saw on the westside at Innovation Studios for a Rebellion Gastropub. He says he hopes to have that open early in the new year so we can't wait to try that out as well, especially since it's only a five minute drive. But it's worth a 20 minute drive or more to visit Rebellion and we'll definitely be back.
