We met the owner and tasted his local farmed oysters at the "Taste of East Bay" in Warren in January 2017. What fresh, local AMAZING oysters! He told us about his Buck a Shuck Happy Hour where ALL Oysters (there were 5-6 the night we went) were $1.00 each between 4-8 pm. AND they let you pick which ones (or all) you want-not just one of them! Normally they are $2.75 each. Such a variety - not only his farmed oysters, but 2 other farmed and 2 wild. I tried all 5 and then went with my favorites. BF ate 2 dozen of the ones he wanted and we were both amazed at how cold ,fresh and how each had such different flavors. I had some shrimp which were big and good, but a little tasteless to me. We just ate the oysters and shrimp - couldn't eat dinner- we were too full. But it was worth the 45 minute drive and we will DEFINITELY be back to try dinner soon. Or when we get another oyster craving. Just can't say enough about how fresh and good all the varieties of oyster were! read more

Stopped in around 8:30, not very busy. Very cute place, not many tables-we were seated right away. The menu is very diverse, we settled for just apps and oysters. We got a dozen of mixed, all were very fresh, clean and sweet. We should have got another dozen! Then the smoked fish plate! I thought the BF was going to jam his fork in my hand if I tried to eat "his" side". So good! We scraped it clean, it was well chosen, all of the flavors complimented each other and the house made chips were a nice addition...again we should have ordered two! The fried oysters were good, the BF loved them. I thought there were too many things competing for attention to taste the sweetness of the oyster. I'm looking forward to coming back soon! read more

HECK YESSS! This place is the best! It's so cute first of all. Used to be an old YMCA and some other things so there's some cool history there. But the FOOD! The whole menu just got a revamp and upgrade so if you thought you liked it before, you def have to check it out now! The new chef knows what he's doing for sure! I had the mushroom risotto and it was so yummy! I love that they use a ton of local products and work with local farmers and such which makes the food taste so much better and also just supports the local economy of course! Plus they have their own oyster farm and I don't think I even liked oysters until these, especially with the little sauces you get on the side. They do a little oyster happy hour with $1 oysters too. We went there for dinner, we were seated at a two top that had direct sunlight and it was really hot. We asked three times to move to a table with some more shade. There were only four tops available and they told us they couldn't move us because they were reserved for parties of four snd their policy was not to sit two people at a table for four. Then they proceeded to sit a couple in the four top right next to us. This was outrageous and makes me wonder if it was because they were caucasian. Have been here before for the raw bar and really enjoyed it, but recently went back for Mother's Day and ordered dinner and everything was DELICIOUS! Top 3 best parts of this experience was 1: The food! Everything from the appetizers to the entrees were so good that we didn't leave anything on our plates! Each dish is packed with flavors and the dishes themselves are very unique. 2: The presentation- every dish came out plated very elegantly with the right amount of garnishing and the colors on the plate were beautiful. 3: The EXCELLENT Service!!! From the host, to the manager, to our waitress, everyone was super friendly and attentive and the timing of the food being served was perfect. I brought my Husband and adult sons for Father's Day. We ordered 1.5 doz. oysters, small but fresh. We all had "clam chowder"...The broth was really nice but only contained 3/4 of a small cut red bliss potato, 1 T ea. of minced celery and onion...I had not a single clam as did another son, my husband had part of one and the other son had 2 parts of a clam. We then waited for 30 minutes and finally asked the waiter if we could check on our meals, he stated " your meals will be out when they are ready"... Finally, our meals arrived. My crabcake was fine 5-6/10, the boys had fish tacos, 2 nice pieces of tempora fried fish with 1 T mango and 2 T lettuce, no seasonings, no little drizzle of anything...we had collectively 7 beers. $250.00 including tip. I just dont think the kitchen can handle seating inside and outside together. We wont be running back sad to say.... read more

I came here with my parents and boyfriend for my last night in Providence till school starts again. It was like a 45 minute drive from Providence and worth it! We started out with a huge platter of oysters and shrimp. Their oysters are simply amazing. They are the best oysters I have ate to date. So fresh and salty. Perfection. The shrimps were huge. For our main courses I got the salmon crostini and was very happy with it. It came with two buttery crostini, a perfectly cooked piece of salmon, dehydrated spinach leaves, pickled onions, and dill mixture. It was amazing. The portion size was a bit smaller than I expected but still left me full and room for dessert. My boyfriend got the sole with pesto sauce and broccoli. My parents got the lobster roll with chips! Everything was delicious. Dessert time! The bread pudding was the best out of the three. We also got the Boston cheesecake and milk and cookie dessert. read more

This is a fantastic addition to Bristol! I truly believe this place has longevity. Great beer list - great wine list. Craft cocktails to come - I saw the Moscow Mule mugs on the wall! Amazing raw bar and very reasonably priced. The menu, while small, hits all the right notes. The owner indicated that the menu will continue to grow and we can't wait to see what comes next. What a great addition to Bristol. So, we went the second night they were open. The owner Pete was there telling us all about the oysters listed on the chalk board, and he is a local oyster farmer! Had a truly lovely time at the Bristol Oyster Bar. I wouldn't recommend it for a main meal. I would absolutely recommend it for a date or group outing centered on oysters, beer, wine, and some shared apps. This is hands down one of my favorite places for oysters and seafood. Love the small intimate atmosphere and the food is phenomenal every time. The scallop chowder is to die for - the flavor is phenomenal and I could literally eat 2-3 servings. The oysters are always fresh, delicious and well shucked. The happy hour selection applies to all the oysters and not just particular ones which is a plus. Salad was delicious, expertly dressed and fresh. The halibut entree was impeccably prepared and extremely flavorful. We honestly look forward to dining her often and travel over 25 miles to do so, that's how delicious and consistent every experience is. The service is always prefect, polite, friendly and helpful. It is a cold one that has some hints of fresh herbs such as cilantro. The oyster Rockefeller were good and you can tell they are super fresh. We also got the fish tacos. They are good. I have never been here before and I can't believe it! Such a nice spot that looks like it could be equally cozy in the summer with their fire pit and Adirondack chairs outside. I had the apple sangria and the salmon special and it was super delicious! I met a few friends here and we sat at the bar area that overlooks all the oysters if that's your thing (it's not really mine, ha!). We had some great food here during 2020. Something has changed with this place. Had a extremely disappointing experience there. Portions are absolutely micro. Very small. Quality is of food poor. Had fried oysters and the oysters were either not in there at all or tiny. Our group's opinion after being there and having good experiences in the past was that there is a ownership or chef change. I will add staff is very nice and friendly but without good food being served......really does not matter. I'd avoid this place. read more

Went last evening for the buck a shuck oysters- they had 6 kinds and all were fresh and delicious. The lobster bisque was delicious but did taste more like butternut squash soup with lobster broth added. The tacos were also very good. Charging 2$ for bread and mid $30 dollar range for Entrees was reason for 4 star- thought was exorbitant The waitstaff was great. Friendly and attentive.
