Came here for a quick bite while getting my knives sharpen. The place is small but seems like a good place to hang out I'm there summer. I was craving a lobster roll and this place popped up on a yelp search. Two things that could have made the sandwich better. A butter toasted roll, a roll right of the package should be a no no. 2nd way too many shells in the lobster meat. We've had lunch here at least a half dozen times and it never disappoints. If you're a Cape Cod lobster roll fan, I'm told that these are hard to beat. Sorry, but I prefer the buttered Connecticut style, but I do love the clam chowder and the crab cakes here. I also love the ice-cold beer and the relaxed vibe at this gem. We ordered at least 3 lobster rolls this trip. Each one of them, the lobster was overcooked, dry and lacked that sweet lobster flavor. Workers have suggested the lobster is frozen which explains the lack of fresh sweet flavor if true. Our next 2 lobster rolls came from The Pink Door and while smaller, it's a great value and was delicious - sweet, tons of whole recognizable pieces, perfectly cooked and very lightly dressed. Well, a friend told me about this place so I decided to give it a try. I was after one thing and one thing only, the "monster lobster roll"!. This is a small, quaint bar and restaurant inside with a good sized area outside. I was able to watch them make these rolls one after the other, these are a big hit! The use a 12 oz soup cup and pack it with lobster meat which makes every one consistent! They then put it in a grinder roll and press it in! Was nice to watch them make these! The Raw Bar has been my 'go to' place for lobster rolls on the Cape for quite some time. However, I was in town last Friday, and the ($49) Lobster roll was *WAY* below par. The meat was dry, and didn't have much flavor. I asked for mayonnaise, to give it some 'body'. I would normally send a poorly prepared item back to the kitchen, but I was a guest with friends, and I didn't want to create any drama, however minor. Helps to cut the richness of the lobster a bit. The food here is good. If you like seafood. If you don't like seafood? Well, your options are a LOT more limited. I would definitely suggest going somewhere else if you are looking for anything other than seafood. Or a hotdog. The oysters are good. The lobster roll is, well, we covered that above. The chowder is tasty. But this place is not cheap. There's no other way to say it. Don't go here without expecting to throw down some cash. And if you go in season? Yeah, expect a wait. We actually went yesterday. Outside of season. It was still crowded for dinner. And that's a problem. Because there was only one poor waitress handling the whole outside seating area. I stand corrected. We all have different preferences for lobster rolls, some like chilled, others hot, some like mayo, others plain, some like a lot of add-ins. On my previous visit I was disappointed that there was no seasoning or mayo on my supersized lobster roll. I returned to the Raw Bar for their Sunday lobster special and I enjoyed twin lobsters with corn on the cob and hot butter for $23. Cup of Chowder was delicious and reasonable at $6. They are still limited by microwaving rather than a full kitchen for wings, etc. but drinks are cheap at $10 for wine and you can't beat the Sunday lobster special. It is fun to sit in the lively bar or at a picnic table in the back yard. Service was very attentive. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a friend who spent their summers at the cape. The Raw Bar was her only must go to recommendation. It didn't disappoint. We got the lobster roll and an assortment of of things and it was soooooo good. The following weekend I went to Maine and of course got a lobster roll there and I preferred the raw bars roll to the one I'm Maine. Next cape visit I'll be coming back. The Raw Bar is a fun and casual hang-out in Popponesset Village on Cape Cod. Our first time to visit was on a chilly Saturday in June. The bar area was overflowing with patrons watching a soccer match. We sat outside in the picnic table area. The place was busy, but a table had just opened up. This place is famous for its lobster roll, so two of us shared one along with fresh oysters on the half-shell, and clam chowder. A beer and rum punch to wash it down. Our server was friendly, but seemed a bit overwhelmed. The manager stepped in to assist with serving food orders and processing bill payments. Everything is served on disposable plates/bowls which is ok for a casual restaurant. The clam chowder was delicious and oysters med-large and fresh. The lobster roll was huge. We estimated meat form a 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lb lobster. The meat was lightly mixed with either mayonnaise or some type of dressing. The bun was cold and not buttered or grilled which is what I prefer. If you like a lot of lobster meat for $30, this place is for you. I like the different flavors including toasted buttered bun and just enough seasoned lobster mixed with thinly sliced celery. We came during July 4th weekend, and they were SUPER busy and disorganized. The food was average, the service was frustrating, and I have zero desire to return. But one we got the food, we were honestly overwhelmed and realized we could have easily shared 1 lobster roll. I'm serious - these lobster rolls are MONSTROUSLY HUGE. For $30 a lobster roll, these are an amazing deal, and a feast for any lobster lover out there. In terms of flavor - there was nothing particularly wowing about either the lobster rolls or the stuffed quahog. They were pretty average - with the only memorable component being how BIG the portions were. Literally -you have to eat the lobster roll with a fork! A couple of docked stars because this place is packed (for no good reason) and as a result, everything from ordering, to waiting for the order, to paying, took an insanely long time. The most frustrating part of the experience was trying to pay. I waited about 15 minutes at the bar to get someone's attention - and when I finally did, it took another 5-10 minutes to get my credit card back because: 1. There were too many servers waiting for the 1 credit card processing machine, causing a bottleneck 2. The machine ran out of receipt paper and somehow it was a struggle for the staff to find receipt paper 3. The server mixed up my credit card with someone else's and had to spend extra time refunding, and re-processing it all By the end of the meal, I was so relieved to just leave the restaurant. read more

Crustacean insanity! I grew up in Maine and have had my fair share of lobster rolls. I have never seen this much meat on a soft roll for $30. My friend and I split a lobster roll and it was more than enough for the two of us (We couldn't make it if we tried! Just the two of us... No seriously there was so much lobster meat on it we couldn't finish it.) The meat was fresh, the roll was soft and doughy, and the meat-to-mayo ratio was spot on- not TOO much, but just enough. I also liked that they served it with a fork. They just know it isn't possible to slam down the ole hatch using your paws. The fork brought me back down to earth. If it wasn't for the lobsters I think this would only be a 3-star place for me, but I'm bumping it up to 3.5 and rounding up. (The ambiance and service are lacking.) Enjoyed a meal at the Raw Bar in the Popponesset Marketplace (259 Shore Drive, Mashpee) this evening. The Raw Bar was long our go-to place for their mega lobster rolls pre-Covid, but I hadn't been since 2019. I went early for the "buck a shuck" oysters (on Friday from 5-7) and had no problem finding a seat at the bar. Bartenders are attentive, engaging, and chatty . . . they are also very good at shucking oysters. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have added a "mini monstah" lobster roll to their menu. It IS smaller than their outrageously large ("monstah") lobster rolls for which they are well known, but it's much more of a normal serving for one person. I ordered an adult beverage and a half dozen oysters. The oysters are from a consortium of oyster farmers in Cape Cod Bay and they were delicious--small, plump, sightly salty, with a clean mineral finish. So I ordered another half dozen. This was followed by another adult beverage and a cup of their clam chowder--slightly too thick for my preference, but certainly a tasty clam flavor. This was followed by a "mini monstah" lobster roll served on an untoasted/grilled New England hot dog roll. The lobster was delicious, lots of full clam meat and only the slightest hint of mayo; the untoasted/grilled roll was unremarkable. They have enclosed their outdoor patio with a large tent and installed heaters which significantly expands their off season seating space. I believe they will be open until the end of the month, so you still have time to grab some dollar oysters on Fridays before they close. For those interested in prices, the "mini monstah" lobster roll was $32 and the massive, monstah roll is $45. The "monstah" roll, which we've had many times over the years, easily satisfies the lobster craving for two people with conventional appetites, especially when combined with one of their additional offerings.
