Came here during happy hour with some friends. Sat towards the back and it felt just a little congested. Wish they had windows they could open! Their happy hour deal is pretty good. Their cocktails were all half off, I had gotten the Bristol Punch and Raspberry Lemonade. For food I had gotten the 2 meats for $5 and chose the wings and brisket. The wings were a little dry in my opinion, but the brisket was really good. I wish they had came with some BBQ sauce on it so you'd have to ask for it in advance. I was happy to be invited to try Bristol Republic as part of the latest Yelp Elite event. I love a good BBQ and had high hopes. I choose a brisket sandwich with a spicy sauce (on the side). The meal came with a small side of coleslaw (condiment cup size), three loaded tater tots, and a lemonade. (I opted for plain lemonade, but it was nice to see they had several flavor options- all of which come in a canning jar.) While waiting for my food, I had an opportunity to look around the building. They are taking temps at the door, greeting each guest as they arrive, and do seem to be complying with social distancing and local mask ordinances. The building boasts multiple bars, interesting decor, and feels very laid back. It reminds me a lot of their namesake, Bristol, TN- a town I'm very familiar with. The food had some definite hits and misses. The brisket was thickly sliced and had a great, robust flavor and when topped with sauce was just amazing. The bun was toasted and was such a nice crunch with the meat and sauce. My only complaint is that the meat to bread ratio was just a bit off- I was chewing and chewing bread when I really wanted more brisket. (That being said, the buns were delicious on their own.) I was a little disappointed in the tot portion size, but the flavor more than made up for it. Even after a 15 minute drive home, they were crunchy and light, perfectly seasoned and totally my new excuse to go back again. The slaw was decent- not memorable, but the portion was so tiny it was hard to get more of a taste of it in comparison to the other robust flavors in the meal. I would definitely get a lemonade again. It was just ice cold, fresh, sweet, tart- all the things that make lemonade great. It really went well with the meal and added acidity. All in all, I could see myself going back for more. There is a bit of construction going on in the area around Bristol Republic. Parking is currently available streetside in the neighborhoods around Short North and the paid lots down the street. read more

We came here three years ago with a large party of 8 - no problems, food and service were excellent. Came her recently and had an awful experience. I do not know if it it the post covid work we live in and lack of work force, but this was truly awful. I think there was one waitress and one bartender for the whole restaurant. The service was slow, our food was dropped off and we were never spoken to again - not to check on our food, see if we needed anything. We filled our own water glasses from a nearby pitcher. The drinks from the bat we ordered with out after came after dinner. My husband and I have both worked in the restaurant industry. I waited tables for years at many restaurants while in college. My husband and our son were both dishwashers for a time. We get it. We get the industry. We tip well and have a lot of grace. This was just awful. We come into town several times a year to visit our Buckeye at OSU. Columbus has better. read more

We had the "try it all, y'all" I wouldn't recommend it. The brisket and pulled pork were smoked great! But the wings, ribs and sausage were extremely overcooked and TOUGH! Went here on Saturday evening with some friends and had a decent time. We arrived early, after finding a close by parking spot. We ordered a drink and took a look around the place, it was crowded and loud but the atmosphere had a good feel to it. They have a separate Whiskey Bar in the back and plenty of space of space for diners. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant but would have preferred a spot in the back, as we were meeting friends and would not be able to talk/converse with them, because we had not seen them in a while. I went back up to the front and spoke to a short man (with his arm in a sling) asking if we could be relocated and his response was a quick no. Disappointed, I went back to the table, and we ordered some Queso, which arrived quickly and was quite good. Soon, our friends arrived and were seated. We took a look at the menu and decided on the Try It All Y'All (with Brisket), a Pulled Pork Sandwich, a BBQ Chicken Sandwich and some Pork Cracklings for the table. The Pork Cracklings showed up first and they were great. They came with a pimento cheese and a sauce and it was all gone in a minute. The rest of our food arrived soon after...and what a feast it was. The Try It All, Y'All came with: Wings, Pulled Pork, Brisket, Ribs and 2 Hot Links. It also had some Cornbread Muffins, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad and more. John and I tried to finish this platter, but even with help from the girls, there was still some left over. The sandwiches were also gone in a flash. We really liked this restaurant, as the food was spectacular, (they are tied in with Smoked On High, which explains a lot), but, the sound level was just too much for us to tolerate. It would have been better in the back of the room, but even though the seats were available, (and other tables as well), we were not allowed to move, which ended up making us leave earlier than expected. We moved over to the Ice Cream store across the street, and were able to talk to our friends in peace. We probably will not be back, at least for now. read more

This review is the result of two very different experiences of their Brunch Buffet on Sunday's. My first visit was AMAZING!! All of the food was incredible and we were so excited to come back a few weeks later. I had every intention of taking notes of everything and a bunch of pictures for an outstanding review of their awesome Brunch Buffet. Unfortunately, the second visit was a major disappointment and waste of money. For starters, it's $20 for the buffet, which isn't bad since the spread of quality food selections is outstanding. Perfectly cooked Ribs, delicious chicken wings, fluffy waffles with all the fixin's. The list goes on and on. The first time we went, we were blown away by the obvious pride the chef took in displaying this masterpiece. HOWEVER, the second time we went, we arrived about 15 minutes after they opened (because we were so excited), and most of the food was SOOOO COLD. The bacon, (which was the thinnest bacon I've ever seen), biscuits, gravy, eggs, and chili were barely room temperature. The ribs and waffles were excellent, but that's all that was edible out of the entire display. I have what doctors call, "a little bit of a weight problem." So, for me to only have one plate at a buffet should speak volumes to how cold and inedible the food was on this particular morning. Like any grown man would do when disappointed by food, I turned to their bottomless mimosas & Bloody Mary bar. It's around $15 and tasted pretty great. So great that I had 4 drinks to try to get my money's worth out of the deal. Maybe I'm a raging alcoholic, but after 4 drinks, there was no buzz to help soften the disappointment from the buffet. Not a big deal, but worth noting that my wife got a sprite and they delivered a glass of carbonated water. They fixed the issue and got a new drink. Our waiter, Tyson, was really nice and helpful, but there's only so much he could do with a cold buffet. In the end, my 5-star rating from the first experience and the 1-star rating from my second trip evened out to this 3-star overall rating. I would still recommend trying it at least once. Just maybe go at noon instead of when they first open. read more

Sunday Brunch Review Start with the standard Short North parking situation. The wait time at 11:30AM was immediate seating. The buffet on the other hand, had been ransacked. While waiting for plates to be washed and brought out, I perused the offerings and took some photos. Several of the items were empty or almost. Everything was refilled at one time or another during our visit. We tried many items. At the conclusion, we round table discussed the highlights and low lights. We agreed we would all get the mini waffles again. They were crisp as if finished in a fryer. Add in bourbon butter and smoked syrup, Boom. They have deep fried chicken pieces glazed in a sweet sauce that compliment the waffle. The breakfast gravy on the jalapeno cheddar grits were tasty. A couple of us enjoyed the bananas foster french toast. Bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, yogurt parfait, mixed fruit salad, pulled pork, and wedge waffle station were all standard fare. Unfortunatly we found the ribs a bit tough to eat, and pull apart. The smoked wings had that grill char, but were dry and tough also. Biscuits were just bad.Service was a bit sub par. Friendly was there, but 4 people should not be on alert to catch our server. A big highlight is the $15 Bottomless mimosa or Bloody Mary. Switch back and forth if you like. It wasn't the best Brunch buffet for $20 considering the items I would eat again. If I did go again, I would carpool. Get there at 10am. Get the Mimosa deal. Was in town for a college football game and was looking for a bite and a drink after the game. Despite the place being busy, the staff found us a table and made great recommendations on food (hush puppies and brisket Mac and cheese were killer). Was a little on the slower, but considering it was pretty busy and we were patient and had a drink there were no worries here. Went inside to the bar after and the atmosphere was awesome. Today was my third time at Bristol republic. I'm now about 99% certain they're putting something addictive in the brisket. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever be able to break the cycle and go anywhere else for brunch on a Sunday morning ever again.... Decided to switch it up and order some fried pickles for an appetizer, they definitely did not let us down. I brought a couple family members this time around and we all ordered the brisket breakfast burritos (I've been talking them up). As always, the burritos were excellent and the lowest rating anyone gave at the table was a 12/10. Santa was also hanging around to take pictures with the kids which was a nice touch. Seeing as how whatever you guys keep putting into my food has led me into a hopeless addiction I guess I'll be back soon (not like I have a choice in the matter, would probably go into withdrawal). I love Bristol Republic. We have been for brunch and we have been for Comedy bingo night as well and have enjoyed both experiences! They have good drinks, amazing tasty food and a cool atmosphere. On the bucket list now is to come back for some music. Bristol Republic offers delicious barbecue that is smoked in-house daily. I recently ordered the 18 hr Brisket Sandwich. The brisket was tender and full of flavor. After living in Texas I have high standards for smoked brisket. I'm happy to report that this brisket did not disappoint. The creamy coleslaw and the house-made tots were also amazing. I have been to Bristol before for drinks, but recently went for dinner on a Sunday evening. I love the atmosphere, it's rustic and country, without feeling redneck. The drinks are good, but kind of pricy. For starters, we got the chorizo queso which was good. The chips were a little greasy, but the queso was flavorful and didn't skimp on the chorizo. The mac and cheese was calling our name, and I'm so glad that's what we decided on. We tried the mac and cheese with brisket as well as the pulled pork mac. The mac and cheese was some of the best ever. Sooo creamy and rich, packed with a ton of flavor, and you can tell the cheese is high quality. They piled a ton of deliciously smoky meat on top, which took a side dish and made it a ridiculously indulgent meal. TLDR: As far as the queso appetizer, I could take it or leave it. Might get drinks during happy hour, but would probably stick with beer over liquor here due to prices. My #1 recommendation: you've got to get the mac and cheese! read more

We went there yesterday 9/9 for Sunday brunch. I was quite unimpressed with the management of their buffet line. When I first went up, at least half of the items were empty. Our server explained that right before we went up they had a table of 20 go up. I get that but then why didn't our server come to our table and suggest that we wait a few minutes to go to the buffet while it was getting restocked and why did it take 15 minutes to restock a buffet? Then it got worse, because every time I went up it was missing food (I literally had to visit the buffet 3 separate times in the hopes that I would get the things that I wanted). I never did get any ribs or their chili or rancheros. The scrambled eggs I had to scrape from the bottom of the pan. Same with the pulled pork. They didn't have a waffle station - they had a bunch of waffles that were cold and in a basket. By the time we left (at about 12:30) they had a sign up that they had run out of ribs and pulled pork - I feel sorry for anyone that arrived at 12:30 - 3P when they closed. I guess the learning is to get there as soon as they open if you want all of the advertised options. For the price, I am confident that I can find a nicer Sunday brunch in the future and I will probably not return. read more

I kept seeing a bunch of amazing pictures of the food from here, so i decided it was about time that I try it out! Luckily, I got here during happy hour, they have great happy hour deals! I love that their happy hour is offered throughout the whole restaurant. Their specialty cocktails ($8) are half off during happy hour so I got the fruit punch while my boyfriend got the cucumber jalapeño margarita. Both were refreshing and on the mildly sweet side. Also from the happy hour menu we got the Alabama Fried Chicken sandwich($5) and the waffle fries ($3). The fried chicken sandwich was fried slightly too long but I would still consider it a great sandwich, I loved that they had collard greens in it! The waffle fries were perfectly seasoned and I couldn't stop eating them. We also took the time to order from the main menu. We ordered the brisket tots ($10), the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese ($11) and the Boulder City burger($14). The brisket tots were great, I love it when a place makes their own tots, it really does make a difference. The brisket on them melted in my mouth and the cheese sauce on them was creamy. The buffalo chicken Mac n cheese was probably some of the best Mac n cheese I have had in a long time. The chicken was slightly spicy but when paired with the creamy Mac n cheese it was perfect! Definitely a crowd favorite at the table. The Boulder City burger was good but hard to eat and very filling after having appetizers and drinks. I do wish that we would have been asked how we liked our burger cooked because it came out well done when I would have ordered it medium. Still a very good burger but not one that I would have with other food because of how heavy it was. The atmosphere is very laid back and the service was awesome. Inside is dark with dim lighting and your surrounded by TVs and spunky decor, doors on the ceilings were super trippy but very cool, in the back you'll see a cozy sitting area with guitars on the wall. Some Items on the buffet were exceptionally good - pulled Pork, chicken bites, waffles, biscuits and gravy were all great!! Huevos rancheros were maybe the best thing on the buffet tho! The orange juice was really Sunny D, which is only good if you like Sunny D. I also loved the cinnamon rolls, although the rest of my group found them just average. We didn't do the bottomless mimosas or bloody marys, and our total for three people was $90 with tip. I'd consider that a little steep for what we actually got. This review is mostly based on the atmosphere and drinks as we shared nachos for a late night snack. I like that they have ample seating and the decor is Nashville Broadway inspired. Surprisingly, they have good TVs so this could be a good place to watch a game. Drink wise, it's a little expensive ($10 for house margarita, $7 beers) but the cocktail was a decent size and somewhat strong. The nachos were HUGE and definitely should be shared. Was really excited to try this place after hearing that the people who own Worthington Tavern (which is awesome!) also own Bristol Republic. Made reservations online. Our eyes went wide when we walked in. First, the speaker system was BLARING awful, generic club music (kind of a surprise at 6:00 pm on a Sunday, but whatever - there was barbecue to be had!). My wife and I are both musicians. Lord knows I sit in front of drum monitors enough to know what loud is. The volume was shocking. We were told to sit wherever and our host walked away. Grabbed a table further from the main speaker and started checking out the menu (which looked awesome). It was odd... looking around, there were a bunch of random dudes sitting on top of booths drinking. Not at the booths... on top. Between that and the music, it felt like a frat house. I don't think I've so much as thought the word "douche-y" since back in undergrad, but the whole place just felt super douche-y. So we sat. And then kept sitting. It seemed as though no one was going to come over and say hey from the staff. So we got up and left. Went to Press Grill. Had an awesome dinner. I want to like Bristol Republic. We moved here from Texas, and seeing their menu was like an oasis in the desert. I'd still really, really like to try the food, but with that kind of atmosphere and service? It felt more like a Jersey Shore nightclub that a Short North bar (let alone restaurant). This is a cool new addition in the Short North area! Bristol Republic took over the old Basil restaurant/bar and turned it into a "Nashville style" spot in my opinion. This area definitely didn't have anything like this until now. The decor of the place is cool, with a large bar and a separate whiskey bar. Lots of bourbon and whiskey options to choose from as well as some delicious cocktails. I love the Sheriffs Pimm cocktail! They have live music several days a week on a little stage on one side of the bar. We stopped in the weekend of the country fest and they had a great country singer playing while we ate. So far I haven't tried any of the BBQ, but the queso was delicious! I'll be back to check out more of the menu. Happy hour specials look great too! read more

I have opted out of trying Bristol on a weekend night because it looked like the ultimate douchery central. I came here twice on weekend days during brunch hours. They do offer a weekend Brunch buffet for about $20 a person. I must be honest. I expected the brunch buffet to be much better (especially given the price) but it was pretty average, taste wise. Some items were not refreshed as fast and I waited a long time for some trays to be refilled even when it was busy. I found that a bit annoying. One of the times, had an acoustic singer/performer which was nice but the guy's vocals were so amped up I thought he was auditioning for American Idol. It was cool but it was hard to maintain an audible peaceful Sunday noon conversation. I think I would come here for drinks with friends if I'm out in the short north area, maybe small bites. I had been eyeing this place for quite some time because of the pictures I had seen. The food looked really good on Yelp, so I figured I'd try them out. Well the perfect opportunity came today, when my wife said she was in the mood for a good burger. We had previously attempted to come here a few days prior, but the parking situation wasn't the best, so after 3 failed attempts we gave up. But we finally made it, and it was a great experience. Our server was very knowledgeable, nice and funny. He explained everything to us in great detail and even insisted we try their housemade ranch (which was amazing!). We both ordered the Boulder City Burger (chopped brisket, bacon, onion straws, cheddar, white bbq sauce) with waffle fries. Well they forgot to include in the menu that all of that comes on top of two patties. It was a huge burger and I ate every bit of it. The waffle fries were up there with Chick-Fila. The atmosphere was pretty cool, I am not the biggest country music fan but I could tolerate since it was paired with some good food. They also have a big bbq meal that serves 2-3 people for only 31 bucks, so we will be back to try that very soon. My only complaint is the horrible parking, but that is to be expected with campus. I found this new bar/restaurant on IG surfing Columbus foodie pages and the Buffalo mac and cheese kept popping up. Thats usually my go to anyways If i see it on a menu. Im a Flight attendant/Pilot by day and I travel the world for work and fun. This buffalo mac and cheese is my new #1 favorite. Knocked Billings, Montana off the map! So i've heard about Bristol Republic a couple of times. Nothing really bad nor crazy good. But on a random day I decided to give it a try. Now im a lover of good BBQ, so I have my standards set high for any BBQ that I eat. So when ordering I got Brisket and Ribs, as well as the buffalo Mac and Cheese. I'll tell you now that the buffalo mac and cheese was the best thing I had this day. Other than that, everything else was not worth remembering. When my brisket came out it was all cut up and dry. I'm more of a fan of slices of brisket, but the big thing was how dry it was. The ribs were the same way, and they were cold. Not to mention everything seemed small. I almost felt like I wasn't getting my full portion. The quality vs the price did not at all equal any value. Oh, and another thing. My meal only came with one BBQ sauce, and the waiter didn't even ask while taking my order what sauce I wanted or anything most BBQ places have the sauces out on the table for you to choose which one you want and how much of it. When I asked the waiter to get me more. She brought them out in small little dipping cups... ALSO another thing, we waited a long time for the food to get out. Just really not a pleasant experience. I might come back at some point to give them another try, However this won't be anytime soon. I'm hoping this was just a one time thing.
