YEEHAW! Bristol is worth the hype. On my most recent visit, I tried the Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned. This twist on a tried and true classic is not for everyone... but it is for me! I if you are feeling adventurous, it is certainly worth trying! Bristol has one of the best Whiskey/Bourbon menus in Columbus and that is about enough to make me a fan. However, the food at Bristol is the real winner here. From incredible barbecue to buffalo chicken mac n cheese, Bristol's menu is perfectly crafted. It is clear that they put a lot of thought and effort into what they do. Pro Tip: the happy hour here is AWESOME. I have also heard that the brunch is phenomenal. How did I not know about Bristol Republic until last night? I feel like I have missed out for far too long, but not anymore. We stopped in last night and we were immediately greeted by the manager. He let us know that we could find a seat wherever we like. The menus were on the table. We quickly discovered that Bristol specializes in smoked meats. I began to feel like we were in a bar I could easily find off the Nashville strip. I sought out the manager again when deciding what to order for dinner. He let me know that their fried chicken sandwich is one of their two most popular things on the menu. He talked it up so I ordered it up. As we sat and waited for our to go order we sung along with the music playing overhead. I just loved the country feel of the restaurant and the music playing. The ambiance was right up my alley. It didn't take but minutes for me to realize that this is an establishment that I will definitely be visiting again, and again. We didn't eat in the restaurant, because we had a long day and we just wanted to get home. When we arrived home we dug in to our dinner and it was delectable. The waffle fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved the touch of the Bristol brand on the sandwich buns. It is those little details that I appreciate, especially when they are so in line with the brand, the country feel, the smoked meats, the southern charm. Our next visit will be for Sunday brunch. We stopped in just walking down high street had wanted to try this place out. Let me just say everything on the brunch bar was delicious. Overheard someone say it was pricey, I disagree with all the options they have. All the servers were always stopping by to check on you or clear your empty plates. What a fun & tasty place! A family member recommended this restaurant and I'm so glad they did. The brunch menu was amazing. Brisket Breakfast Burritos, Smoked Pork Breakfast Sandwiches, Chicken & Waffles, & Bottomless Mimosas were a fan favorite among our group. Our server was very helpful and timely. Bristol Republic is a fun Southern-inspired BBQ joint that serves up a large menu of favorites and plenty of cocktails. They feature a great happy hour, and also a Sunday brunch. I stopped by for the brunch buffet. The buffet was large and well stocked, with breakfast staples like eggs, potatoes and muffins, as well as BBQ pulled pork. The breakfast food was a-okay; they also featured premium products like your own yogurt parfait in a mason jar. The meats like the pulled pork and sausage were also excellent. It's taken me roughly 24 hours to decide how I felt about Bristol Republic. On the one side, you have awesome service, and great atmosphere and live music after 10 (the lead singer last night was awesome, she's got some pipes) and on the other side you have my personal beef with bbq in Columbus. It's identity is everyone else's and not Cbus. Our server Julia...she's awesome, if I'm there again I'm asking for her. And shoutout to the hostess who literally found us the last table for dinner before open seating started. Julia recommenced my drink, the bourbon mule, and got the kitchen to find me samples so I could try all the meats and sauces. She really was great. The Texas hot link, reminded me of Texas, heat, flavor, pepper, all rolling across my tongue. The brisket, OG Texas style, simple rub, and let the meat do the talking. I love that Bristol gives you Point and Flat (fatty and lean for newbs) so you can taste each or mix for your palette. The pulled pork was pure I'd get that and pair it with the Smoked on High sweet sauce or the Carolina Gold sauce. Those were my two favorite. My eating partner preferred the Alabama White, but to me it was just okay. The wings are the star though. Smoked, then flash fried, the are bursting with juiciness and flavor. I could have just gotten those. And then complimented the sauces really well. While my search for Columbus' food identity continues, Bristol Republic is a fun place with a great atmosphere worth checking out for yourself. If I'm back, it'll be to check out breakfast next. I walked in around 230 in the afternoon on Saturday. I enjoyed the ambiance and they had a live performer. They were wrapping up brunch so I knew I probably needed to be patient. A sign told me that I needed to seat myself so I did. However, no one came to my table for about 10-15 minutes. When someone did come to my table they I formed me that they were not my waitress but did give me some water. I was about to leave but finally Jack came over. She was great! Very nice and personable. I had the wings, baked beans, Mac and cheese, and greens. The wings were good but the stand out was the baked beans. I added on a side of cheddar cornbread which was good but didn't have much cheddar flavor. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast sandwich with hot links. Best links ever!! The sandwich was great. The potatoes were cubed and crispy. Pretty big serving as well. We also each ordered a drink. He got the Bristol Bloody Mary and I got the bacon bourbon old fashioned. The bourbon didn't really give me a bacon taste, but I was just excited to try a new bourbon. I wish they would've garnished with a strip of bacon. Updated review and pumped up to 5 stars because of the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese!!! Omgsh that was one of the best dishes I have had in a while. The Mac and cheese is nice and creamy and the boneless buffalo chicken has the perfect amount of kick. Highly recommend! So I've heard from a few people that they have an amazing happy hour so I had to go check it out for myself. I got the burger for $5 on their happy hour menu. While it is good, a person who I was with good their Alabama chicken sandwich (also $5 on their happy hour menu) and that was amazing so I will definitely be getting that next time. All their sides are $3 on happy hour. Then they offer half off cocktails and drafts and a few other drink specials. They do not have any beers on draft yet so that was a bummer. Bristol Republic was good. There was a group of 11 of us in on a Friday night. This is a younger crowd group if you're in your late 40's or early 50's. It's an older crowd if your 15. It's vibrant, country music, and wood. It was a Friday and service was slow....real slow. Food took about 45 min. I ordered queso cheese chips and was brought some nachos. Told the waiter it wasn't what I ordered, I had the cheese dip with chorizo, he said they didn't have chorizo and I was wrong. Anyway, mysteriously, 15 min. later, our Chorizo queso came out. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, ribs, greens, burgers, and fried pickles, etc. the meals were good. Would I go back? Drinks were a slow, not great service, overpriced drinks, food was ok, but the surroundings were good. I'll say maybe, I'll be back, but I'm not making any plans too. read more

I have heard a lot of great things about Bristol Republic and have really been wanting to go here! I headed in for a Bingo Night on a Tuesday night. It had been forever since I had played Bingo so I was excited! We got seated right away and I'm glad we got there early. This place fills up fast on Bingo Night! Our server was really out of it. To be honest, one of the most "out of it" servers I may have ever had. He didn't seem well versed in the menu at all; he kept referring to the banana pudding as "yogurt"; our drinks sat at the bar for quite awhile before he brought them out; I had asked him for samples of the wing sauce and he never brought them out until the food came out; and he managed to mess up my friend's order THREE times! Yikes! I was almost hoping he would say "Sorry I'm new" so we could give him some type of pass. But yeah either he had a really off night, was medicated or under the influence or he is just in the wrong business. Anyways, we each got a cocktail as mentioned above. I got the red sangria and it was ok. They put brandy and liqueur in there. I think it tasted "off"...too much of a hard drink taste instead of a fruity, smooth sangria. I don't know if I'd order it again. For food, we were really bummed because they were out of both brisket and pulled pork. I have heard amazing things about the brisket, so I was disappointed. I opted instead for the wings and the buffalo mac and cheese. My order came out correctly, but like I mentioned above, my friend's order was messed up on the first two tries. I did really like the wings here! I dipped it in various sauces and really like their Bourbon BBQ the best. Very rich and flavorful. Their wings have a delicious rub on them that I couldn't get enough of! For dessert, we got the banana pudding (aka "yogurt" as our server kept calling it) and the brookie. I really enjoyed both! The banana pudding had cookie crumbles on top that I kept scooping up. I didn't think I'd finish the whole thing but I devoured it! May be the best banana pudding I've ever had! The brookie was good too but definitely shareable and be sure to eat it quick because it melts fast! Bingo was really fun! I enjoyed it a lot. Lots of suspense and excitement in the air. They market it as "comedy" bingo but I didn't get where the "comedy" came in. It was just an average guy calling the balls. So not sure where the funny part comes in. Either way, I had a lot of fun and highly recommend to go in on Bingo night. They do 8 rounds total over a 2 hour period (7p-9p). However, I will say that I don't like that they use pennies for the markers on the bingo cards. I just used various markings with my pen and my friend used breath mints out of her purse. I think it's just gross for people like us who are eating all these finger foods to be touching dirty, nasty pennies and then eating food. Yuck! Anyways, this is a place I want to try again. Decided to check out what Bristol was all about. Followed them on social media and decided to go. It was a busy Friday night 1 hour before the live entertainment was to start. We arrived and it was packed wall to wall. The hostess explained the open seating situation that was getting ready to happen but she said she would go and look for a table for us. She found a nice 2 top in the front of the stage for us right away. Waitress came over and greeted us pretty quick. I ordered the Back Porch Tea! Delightful and bourbony for sure. I'd recommend. I had a craving for their nachos with chicken especially after seeing pictures. It's massive! Good amount of meat on it. And it's very traditional bbq nachos. Lots of sauce and guacamole but you are not getting shredded cheese and lettuce on it. More black beans bbq sauce and other sauces. It was pretty good and satisfied my craving! My eating partner sampled all of the meats. They are perfectly balanced and smoked. Really good bbq! They brought out 4 sauces. They were the stars of this meal. There were 2 that stood out as different were the Alabama white bbq sauce. Really good. I don't think many are serving this in columbus - or at least it's hard to find. And another bbq sauce that had a fresh jalapeño kick to it. So unique and good on the meats!! The atmosphere is definitely a country bar. I'm not big on the country scene but I'll tell you one thing, I felt welcomed and comfortable! The love music was awesome!! The band up that night was totally rocking music is balanced and not obnoxiously loud. The patrons were having fun and enjoying their friends. Service is awesome! Our server was stellar! Visited Bristol Republic on 11/26 around 630pm for their comedy Bingo night. The things that stood out for me that made the night an enjoyable one: 1. Wings were amazing, great rub on them! 2. Buffalo chicken Mac & Cheese was also really good! 3, Tried two desserts - Banana pudding add the Brookie- both good! 4. Bingo was fun, decent prizes 5. Every table was full do it was a great crowd. The things that were less than amazing: 1. They were out of brisket and pork! 2. Took about 20 minutes to get our drinks, party of two. (I think our server was new as he referred to the banana pudding as banana yogurt. ) 3. I ordered the pick 2 happy hour special of wings and a sausage link. The order initially came out as all wings and the second time it came out as wings and a rib. Our server finally just brought out the sausage link. I will go back again to attempt to get the brisket. If you are going on Bingo night, I would suggest taking a pen for your bingo cards as they have a huge thing of pennies but I know some people don't find it appealing to play with dirty pennies while eating. What started out as a bar/food hop along High Street, turned into a one stop hop. We wandered into Bristol and were not disappointed, more so impressed. On their official opening weekend, we walked into with a handful of tables open, but that quickly changed as the place was very busy for a Saturday afternoon. The environment is nothing like Columbus has; its Nashville-esque. Stage upfront, two bars on each side. Multiple, different areas to hang out. Tables, booths, couches, etc. plenty of TVs, which will be great during football season and any big game. The service was solid. Sidney was attentive, corrected our drink ordered. She recommended the Brisket tots, and those did not disappoint! Homemade, shredded potato, loaded with brisket, Alabama sauce, cheese. Sign yourself up for an order. The brisket, yum. Tender, great flavor; I believe they pair with Smoked on High. My girlfriend ordered the wings with a dry rub. Crispy, yet meaty, good flavor. We barely used any BBQ sauce, as the meats were that tasty. Our friends ordered the pulled pork sandwich and cheeseburger. Hearty serving and they enjoyed both. Prices seemed reasonable for this area. Live Music: Thursday & Friday: 9:30-12, Saturday: 12-3 and 10pm-12:30, and Sunday: 12-3. When's there's not live music, country music is playing in the background. If I only had one compliant, it would be that there's not live music during happy hour and all day on the weekend. Experienced Bristol for the first time at a Yelp event and was blown away by their hospitality, space, and of course, their food!! To make the event even better, we all left with a coupon for free brunch. Unfortunately, the coupon expired before I was able to use it, but after contacting Bristol, the owner was kind enough to let me come in whenever to use it - point 1 for hospitality! I wound up popping in for a solo brunch on a recent Sunday - I don't typically dine at a sit-down restaurant solo, so I was a little apprehensive. The workers at Bristol were SO kind though, that it didn't even feel lonely - the hostess frequently checked in to see how I was enjoying everything and to gauge my thoughts on some of their new recipes, and my waiter made small conversations with me throughout my stay, which was much appreciated. Point 2 for hospitality! I also typically don't do brunch buffets (would rather focus on 1 item down truly well), but Bristol made me rethink this school of thought! Their buffet is honestly one of the finest I've seen - from scones and cinammon roles to huevos rancheros to fried chicken and pulled pork and ribs to fresh salad and fruit to a waffle station to individual yogurt parfaits, truly something for everyone! I focused on a DIY chicken and waffles - while I did have to wait a little bit for the chicken to be replenished, def worth the wait. The chicken (though fried), wasn't super heavy and had a little sweet kick to it that paired well with the waffles. The mini waffles were a different spin and almost tasted like a funnel cake (due to them flash frying them, as I learned from the hostess!). There were plenty of toppings to choose from (choco chips, fresh fruit, whipped cream, oreos), but I stuck to butter and syrup, although far from basic. The bourbon butter was awesome and so flavorful, and the smoked syrup was equally as delicious - I would be lying if I said I didn't have a bit of the syrup by itself! An awesome accompaniment to the chicken and waffles, really bringing it all home. I finished out my meal with some fresh fruit (great variety!) and a taste of the pulled pork, which was just as savory and flavorful as the sample had at the Yelp event. Overall, definitely a 10/10 on the brunch! Would highly recommend checking out Bristol for brunch either by yourself or with a group - to make the great eats even better, they offer reasonably priced bottomless blood mary's and mimosas, so definitely want to hit that next time! Since I was in contact with the owner about using my certificate, we had a bit of an email chain and he offered to set up a work party for me and some co-workers around the holidays - complete with some specials and a private room. I was truly blown away by this last bit of hospitality, and this only confirms Bristol's dedication to providing an overall excellent experience. I am stoked to share my appreciation of Bristol and their great eats with my co-workers, and I am excited to continue to interact with their awesome team! The BBQ is fine. Not enough to draw you back, but there's nothing wrong with it. My main issue is with the cornbread. You. Are. A. Southern. Restaurant. Your cornbread should be at least decent. But I had a couple of issues: 1) you didn't serve it with butter. I got some when I asked but who the hell eats cornbread without butter. 2) it was dry which made it chewy. I appreciated the whole corn kernels, but it was so dry, even with the butter, that I just kept chewing. A restaurant needs something to make you want to come back other than proximity, and this place only has proximity in the Short North going for it. read more

I really enjoy Bristol! The ambiance is fun! A Texas/out west vibe with cattle covered seats and country music. If that's not your scene, you might not like it much. Truthfully, it's not mine either. At all. But my first experience here was so great that I'm okay with it, but it's definitely cowboy realness. The bartenders are fantastic! My friends and I actually chatted with them like old friends one evening when it wasn't too busy. Outstanding bar service!! The floor service though.... is a hit or miss. I've been serviced fine, but I've also had some pretty apathetic servers. The food is bbq and delicious. I've only had brisket and chicken wings, but both were delicious! Their berry spiked lemonades are TO DIE. My favorite is blueberry, but they're all wonderful. It can get really crowded in the evenings/weekends though. I really liked the vibe of this country restaurant/bar. Very friendly and you can tell the customers were enjoying themselves. Unfortunately did not get any pictures of the food because we were so excited to eat when it came out. First, we ordered the Buffalo Mac and Cheese which was definitely a 5 star dish. Must try this! The chicken was nice and crispy, noodles soft and cheesy and just enough blue cheese with a nice spice. We then split a half rack of ribs with the Bristol Bourbon BBQ and the brisket sandwich with a side of the sweet whiskey sauce and Pucker sauce. The ribs were cooked perfectly and just fell off the bone. The brisket sandwich was good but not as good at the ribs. I do have to say, I was disappointed in the sauces. For having BBQ, the sauce is the most important aspect and I truly didn't love any of them. Pucker was the best one for me because it had a nice kick to it. I almost gave it a 3 star because of the sauce but truly the meat was cooked perfectly and the Mac and cheese was just delicious! I probably won't come back here for BBQ but will definitely be back to try the brunch! read more

Bristol republic was a cool spot to stop in for brunch on Gameday in Columbus. They had a limited menu for gameday- but the service was quick. The BBQ was tasty but the breakfast burrito left a little to be desired in the amount of meat and the temperature. The potatoes were also just average. I went to Bristol after the Penn State game last weekend and the place was an absolute mess. I had this super sweet server and then literally saw her get assaulted in the middle of a bar fight and security was no where to be found. I felt really unsafe... The place was overcrowded and I couldn't even walk to the bathroom, there were people climbing on tables and knocking them over, and the manager kept yelling at the servers but not helping. It was a really bad experience and I will not be coming back. read more

We came here for the Sunday southern bbq buffet. $19.99 per person, and it offered various food - biscuits, scrambled egg, waffle, chicken bites, pulled pork, ribs, chicken wings, bacon and sausage, potato, mixed green, yogurt parfait, scones/bread etc. It was busy when we got there. I am glad we made reservation in advance. They have live music from 12 to 3 pm as well. You can also spend extra $15 for the bottomless mimosa. If you have time on Sunday, that's very good value to spend your time there having delicious buffet, drinking bottomless mimosa, and enjoy classic music. The food overall is good. Service is great. It seems like the front employees communicated with the kitchen quite often, but there were still a couple of food that were not available for a while. read more

Been following this spot on Social Media since before it opened and finally had the opportunity to check it out yesterday. The decor is very neat-looks like a rustic saloon with a dash of a speakeasy Whiskey bar. The live music stage is like a spotlight window for the artists, which makes it look like a pretty intimate music listening experience (no musicians were playing during our visit). Besides music, this place touts its Bourbon & Whiskey offerings as well as food: it's safe to say that they didn't disappoint in those areas. The Whiskey offerings were numerous in their types (Bourbons, Ryes), as well as their rarities, with pricing ranging from below $10 to over $50. We sampled a few of their appetizers, from their Deviled Eggs with Burnt Ends, their fried pickles, brisket tots, Pork Cracklings, and they were all very tasty. For their entree offerings, we got their Hot Link, which tasted as- described on the menu and had good flavor. We also got their burger with smoked brisket, and their fried chicken sandwich with collard greens. This is why I rated them only 4 stars: the sandwiches were flavorful...but very dry. Dry to the point where it gets hard to swallow a bite. I think if they added more sauce to their sandwiches, that would improve the enjoyment of those offerings. All in all, I believe that this place lived up to the hype, and I and looking forward to exploring it again. read more

Okay the brunch at Bristol Republic has to be one of the most underrated in the entire city. My husband and I stopped in for brunch on a Saturday and had an all around phenomenal experience! Our server was efficient, attentive, and friendly/talkative without being too overbearing. The brunch drinks are top notch- the cowboy coffee and maple bacon old fashioned were our favorites. And THE FOOD. Wow. I got the chicken and waffles and it was so freaking good. My husband got the brisket and eggs and was a huge fan as well. We will be back for sure!! read more
