I had a lovely meal this past Friday at Bristol. It's an out of the way place with a traditional decor, but the high ceilings and open tables are still quite intimate. I chose to take my meal at the bar as I was alone on business that evening, but most of the crowd was small groups or dates at tables. Reservations likely aren't an issue; I had no trouble getting a spot. Walking in is fairly normal for an upscale restaurant and the decor was nothing out of the ordinary for a place like this. But once you sit down, the service shines nicely and that's more important. Te servers were all incredibly pleasant despite being busy and never seemed put upon or disturbed. It was happy hour on Friday and Blue Point oysters were $1.00 (!!!) each. My order got mixed up in the kitchen and so I was awarded 12 for the price of 8, no questions asked. They were served on ice and accompanied with homemade horseradish, Hal a fresh lemon, a tiny single-serve bottle of Tabasco, and an interesting mignonette of soy, miso, sesame oil, black and white sesame seeds, and wasabi that was quite good and wonderfully original. For a main I went over the wide and appealing selection and had difficulty deciding, but the server told me the tuna was great an the swordfish excellent. I went with the seared tuna medium-rare accompanied by lemon-asparagus risotto and sautéed haricot verts. The beans were great and the risotto surprisingly good, with fresh lemon flavor and a just-right amount of asparagus -- I have high standards for risotto, and I would order this every visit back. The tuna was a good selection and seared nicely, but was still cold in the center. It was definitely of a grade where this isn't a problem -- it was fine to me, and eventually the heat penetrated through and warmed the center. I'm happy with hot outside and raw inside on this grade of tuna, but be cautious. I expected it to be overdone based on other reviews, but it was the exact opposite. This cost them the one star. Dessert was a big slice of carrot cake that my server also recommended; it was also a good choice. This wasn't your typical carrot cake quality; instead it was impressively done. The pecan praline filling between layers is an inspired touch on a traditional dessert and I despite the creme anglaise being an afterthought on the plate, it is definitely worth ordering. The cake itself was balanced between sweet and spice, and most importantly not dry at all. The bartenders seemed competent in their craft. The crowd seemed nouveau-rich in a tacky sort of way, which was a downer. However, I suspect this has more to do with O'Fallon rather than the establishment. Reminds me of Tinley Park on the south side of Chicago...money, but not much class; no matter how much the residents feel to the contrary. I'd recommend going here if you're in the mood for seafood. The prices are reasonable given the quality of the food and service delivered, and I doubt you could find a similar establishment without a significant drive. read more

5.0! Bristol is right next to the hotel where I stay when I come for work and it's not like any other nearby restaurant you've visited. I keep going back and frequent the bar where you can enjoy happy hour pricing on food and drinks until they close. They have a great selection of oysters, their salmon flat bread is to die for and the ahi tuna salad is a must. Oh, and don't forget to make sure you have a biscuit fresh from the kitchen. Staff are incredible and the environment is welcoming. It's a place you must try and once you do, you'll go back everytime you're in the area! read more

The restaurant has decent food with creative appetizers, and for a Midwest restaurant, the seafood is pretty good. I even tried the oysters, which were good. Pricing is reasonable for the offering. I was not thrilled that they opened the red I ordered before showing me the label (I was talking to the group) and they had brought the wrong year. I came here for a whole week for dinner consecutively during my biz trip in St Louis. This is definitely an outstanding restaurant. Everything is all good. Amazing happy hours, top notch sit-down dinners, filet mignon, crab cake, risotto, lobster rolls, oysters, east sider, all good. Thank you for offering amazing experience at reasonable price. I will definitely come back in future. A small complain, tonight, the outside of my steak and crab cake is over burned outside, giving obvious bitter taste, risotto is under cooked, the rice is still hard inside. It is still outstanding compare to other chain steak houses, but when I walk into Bristol, I expect perfection. Please take it positively. read more

We went to Bristol to celebrate a birthday and I'm so glad we did! Our server, Doug, was very attentive, had great suggestions and took very good care of us, even wishing my mother-in-law happy birthday again as we left. The food was delicious! Great food. My husband and I have gone to Bristol Seafood Grill in St. Charles County twice. It's a little pricey but for a special event or just to treat yourself to dining a little upscale it's so worth it. To start out we had the calamari, it was very good and the dipping sauce served with it was very tasty. We both had the filet and lobster for our entree and it was worth every penny. Steak was cooked perfectly with great flavor but the lobster tail was awesome. We were both too full to partake in dessert but the previous time that we were there we took a piece of carrot cake home to enjoy later and it was very very good. read more

This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants, period. Call ahead before you go or make a reservation to hear what's fresh each day as the online menu doesn't update. It would be fantastic if it did. Anyway, I always get the halibut when they have it and their crab cakes. They're absolutely amazing. The place is priced medium-high, but it's so worth it. Upscale restaurant with a great menu but also some bad hours (they close the kitchen at 9! who does that?). All of their menu items seemed fantastic but I wish they were closer to a coast to have some fresher seafood. I had the Tuna Tartare to start with which was okay - the tuna was great, the rest of the dish I didn't care for - and followed up with the Scallop entree. I didn't find it to be anything special and the scallops were obviously not fresh (on the verge of being rubbery). But it was still a great place to have a nice dinner and possibly grab a drink after. It is a bit pricey though so keep that in mind. If you're having an appetizer, an entree and a drink / glass of wine, you're looking at dropping around $50-60 pre-tip. read more

Came here for a company dinner with coworkers, and was greeted very nicely by the hostess and soon after our waiter. To start, they took our drink orders - I ended up getting a Knob Creek bourbon, one ice cube as requested, by someone's suggestion, and I really enjoyed it. What the then brought after taking our orders while we waited was this delicious and slightly sweet bread. It was so good we all asked for a second set before the good arrived. Also, checking in I noticed the restaurant offered a free appetizer with check in, which our waiter easily and gladly honored, quickly bringing us the tasty calamari appetizer advertised on the offer. It tasted great, particularly the sweet sour sauce that came with it. For my entrée, I got the seared ahí tuna, medium rare. I was very excited with the food up to now being very tasty. For my sides I got the roasted potatoes and the sweet potato corn mix. The sides were pretty good, but the ahí tuna wasn't really medium rare, it was more medium well, and I was a little disappointed. It was also very very seared, maybe because it was medium well, but either way, it lost a bit of flavor as a result. We've been coming here since the day they opened. Always had good food and service. Every birthday we would receive a coupon for a free dinner worth $25. This oct we didn't get one. Called and asked if they were still doing it and were told yes. Still,didn't get one. We had happy hour last week and ask the manager what happened. He curtly responded he would check into it. Still haven't received it yet. Since it comes email there shouldn't have been a delay. If they aren't doing it anymore they should just say so. Winner, winner, seafood dinner. I'm not gonna lie the prices are a little more than my usual haunts, but SO worth it. The biscuits were mentioned in another review I read. So I was looking forward to them and was not disappointed. My husband had fresh oysters on the half shell, and we shared calamari, both were great. We both did the mixed grill. The portions seemed small, and yet we walked out full. Each ingredient in the entree was cooked perfect. Since it was my husbands birthday we topped off dinner with creme Brûlée, again perfect. The service was wonderful. I wish I remembered our servers name to give her credit, but I don't. She gave us great recommendations, much appreciated. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We just wasted $166 on dinner here tonight. Lobster tail & Halibut were WAY overcooked. Asparagus tasted like butane and we didn't even finish the overpriced bottle of wine that we bought. My husband and I went to the O'Fallon location for our last parent's night out and loved it. We were seated right next to the fireplace at a quiet table. For our first visit they definitely set the bar high. We enjoyed the sea scallops and the salmon. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and I might add I am not a fan of salmon but the flavors and way they cooked it made me an instant fan. The scallops were some of the best I've ever had - I was a member of the clean plate club that night. Cookie box and creme brulee for dessert also on point. Ready for our next visit...which happens to be for Father's Day brunch! Definitely recommend!!! read more

So after a horrendous meal back in Feb we went back to see if things had changed. I must say days after our Feb trip I was contacted by management but never did take the offer of coming in for a meal. I had that bad of a taste for this restaurant. Seafood is not something you find here in St Louis. It was our anniversary and my wife is not a steak person so seafood it was, It was either Red Lobster or try Bristol's again. I wasn't in the mood for Red Lobster since it was our anniversary. My wife called and they asked if we were celebrating anything. She said yes our anniversary. We got there a few minutes late but we were seated right after walking in. They seated us right next to the fire place. It was very nice. Our waitress introduced herself and then brought us our drinks. I asked her about the daily fresh fish and she explained in detail the differences of the selections I was contemplating. I went with the Bluenose and my wife had crab cakes. After our salads, our meals came out. The meals were presented very nicely. My fish was very good. Our waitress had described the Bluenose as similar to Grouper in texture but not as sweet. She was spot on. I'm a sucker for Grouper and had just prepared Grouper the weekend before. The portion was small but on par for a restaurant of this caliber. I personally would prefer a larger piece but I knew where i was eating. My wife said her crab cakes were good. I asked her if they were just good or really good. She said they were really good as they didn't have a lot of filler in them as some of the other restaurants and had a lot of crab in them. We finished off our meal with coffee and tea and the lava cake and cookies. The meal was very good and the experience was very enjoyable this time around. read more

Haven't been in in a while, so it seemed like a great idea. It did not disappoint. The crab cakes for appetizers were full of crab and a great starter size. Wife had the fresh barramundi and I tried the new seafood ravioli. Both were great and the pasta was incredible. Scallops and shrimp along with the ravioli was a nice surprise. Went for date night. Service was excellent, the ambience was great, everybody greets you with a smile. I had a Saturday night reservation and the table was ready upon arrival even though the place seemed pretty full. I started with the gumbo and it was excellent! My husband got the basic dinner salad but it was super basic, it included pine nuts and dried fruit which was a nice touch to impress him. I was super pregnant so I knew I couldn't eat a whole meal so I ordered the crab cakes appetizer with a side of the tomato, corn and zucchini ragout. The crab cakes were delicious. They were a decent size, had a ton of crab and weren't super greasy. They came with a slaw that complimented them perfectly. My husband got the bluenose butterfish that was recommended. I thought it was a little odd that the waitress recommended the fish but when we asked more questions about it she said she didn't know because she had not had it before. I thought it was a little boring but my husband said it was the best meal he had in awhile. We finished off with cappuccino and carrot cake. The dessert choice wasn't my first choice but it ended up being a great choice. Best carrot cake I'd ever had. There was a caramel-like filling between the cakes that gave it a nice touch. read more

Bristols was outstanding. We had a celebration for about 60 people on a Monday evening. I worked with planning person who helped me pick out food, suggested I order less or some items, etc. The manager came and met me when I arrived and checked with me during the evening. Guests arrives a bit early and it didn't faze the staff at all. They got everyone drinks (open bar with individual drink orders) as the buffet was set up. The food was excellent, well presented and plentiful. At the end of the evening, they asked us what to do with leftovers and suggested sending home with guests. The servers went around and made up to go containers for everyone! I cannot say enough good things about the ease of working with Bristols management, staff, the food and value. My favorite restaurant in St. Charles County. You can always count on getting a great meal and great service. This is our go-to restaurant when we have out-of-town visitors. Excellent menu, excellent wine list, excellent service. Can I talk about the sides? They are as good as the main event; one of these days I'm just going to order all sides. We've had steaks, seafood, brunch, lunch, apps, and dessert. And if you like a nice scotch, they serve it with a big square ice cube (hard to get; it won't water down you drink as quickly). I'm so glad they brought back their Sunday brunch, it's the best in the county. Upscale restaurants are really lacking in St. Charles County, and this is an outstanding choice! I enjoyed my visit. We came in late on a Friday night. 30 minutes to closing. Party of 6. Got past the sarcastic comment of the waiter. That we just made it. After that our services was right on. He explained, brought water, drinks and food in timely manner. Gave great services. We ordered the seafood sampler appetizer. Found a nice variety of seafood and presented well. I ordered oysters. Came out on a bed of ice and well presented. Wife had the lobster mac and cheese. It was delicious. The other members had a seafood platter. We had one member asked for a switch in a fish. No problem. The only thing they complain about was the spice of one shrimp dish. But felt it was a personal choice more than a product problem. Make sure you look at prices before going. If you are budget minded consumer. This is NOT for you. 4.50 for beer, 11.00 glass a wine, 12.50 for mixed drinks. Know what your budget is before attending. Are you will be sticker shocked. read more
