Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in O'Fallon, there is not a more convenient restaurant to dine - it's literally in the parking lot. That said, the restaurant is smartly designed and decorated and feels more upscale than its location would suggest. The menu is seafood focused and very familiar to me, as Bristol is the same chain as a Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square staple: Devon. The driver of my two stars is the service. I ate here twice during my stay in MO and the first occasion Bristol got my order wrong twice, after which I decided to just eat the darn thing...on the second dining experience I had two different servers and floaters in my water (did they remember me from two nights before?!?!). First experience was really rough, I ordered the Lobster Cobb and asked for no dressing and no cheese. Apparently too many modifications were made because the salad came out dressed with oil and only Lobster, tomatoes and bacon (missing avocado, corn, red onion and sweet potato shoestrings). I flagged down the waitress -- which considering I was at the bar and my server was the bartender took too long -- and alerted her to the absence of 50%+ of the salad's toppings. Since I had already chopped everything I asked simply for the toppings on the side. About 10 minutes later an entirely new salad was delivered by who I am certain was the manager, who apologized profusely for the previous salad. He quickly scooped up the salad I was in the process of eating (fork in hand) and set the replacement on the bar. Unfortunately the second salad was worse than the first attempt as it was drenched with a super sweet "viniagrette" which almost made it inedible (and I asked for no dressing). Rather than send the salad back for the second time and a third attempt, I selectively ate the Lobster and other toppings and pushed the soaked lettuce to the side. I returned two days later due to the fact my hotel and Bristol share the same parking lot and decided I would not sit at the bar, and order something less complicated (sarcasm). Upon this visit the food came out as ordered, though the arctic char was pretty oily from the mass quantity of butter used to finish the dish. The service, however, failed again. I sat in the bar area at a high top and was initially given a menu by a waitress who identified herself as the server responsible for my table. After 10 minutes the waitress had not revisited my table for even my drink order. Another server, a gentleman, stopped by and asked what I'd like to order: Bourbon Basil please. The cocktail came out quickly but was overly sweet and definitely contained more ingredients than what the cocktail menu listed. I placed an order with the new server for the complimentary calamari (Yelp! check-in offer) which came out SUPER quickly and was decent. After 40 minutes my waitress finally visited my table for the first time since seating me and took my dinner order. Another gentleman followed up a few minutes later with an unrequested glass of water - which had things floating in it, gross. I couldn't help but think the manager at the door remembered me as the "complicated diner" and sabotaged my water...but maybe I've seen the movie "Waiting" too many times. If I find myself staying at the Hilton Garden Inn again, I will begrudgingly revisit Bristol, but not for the food or service, but rather strictly out of convenience. read more

My husband and I love this place. We go Wednesday night for their $8 whole lobsters. Amazing! Select apps. at this time are half off too! We live only a mile or so from the Bristol in O'Fallon, MO, but generally travel to the older Bristol in Creve Couer when we are craving seafood in a city that has limited options. The O'Fallon location lacks the service (an obnoxious bartender drove us away a few years ago) and the ambiance of the Creve Couer location. read more

Attended a birthday party last night with 15 people in attendance. We had a private room that was perfect for our size group. The service from drinks to desert as very good. Our custom menu was a three course dinner with several choices for each course. My meal consisted of cajun gumbo (spicy and very good) followed by panko fried shrimp, very good also, and a easy to take home cookie box for desert. The service staff was attentive and helpful answering some food choice questions. I am giving them my best recommendation. read more

i'm no foodie, but when I lived in MO for five year (after 20+ in TX,) I felt like an old foodie-snob living in some scandinavian type country. Bristol's was my little Oasis. It has the BEST crab-cakes not in MD/VA, and and I'd bet $10 to anybody to prove me wrong. And I got to where I came to depend on them for the best Filet in the area - certainly MUCH better than the place in the Valley known for steaks... oh, and the sweet rolls the swing by the table as appetizers... had to be revenue killers for them, but certainly helps levis and sansable sell more trousers for guys like me.... read more

Went last night for the happy hour and service was poor. Actually it was just bad. We sat ordered drinks and an appetizer. People that got there after us got their food first. My wife and I ate here Thursday as we had a coupon to use. We have been to this location several times and enjoy the food and atmosphere very much. I ordered halibut and couldn't have been happier with the way it was prepared. When the waiter delivered our food she commented that the piece of fish was smaller than why the chef was comfortable servicing, so she brought me another piece of halibut. When you travel you MUST go here. I was pretty skeptical about it since it's a random seafood place near a hotel off an expressway, but I was surprised and all dishes were VERY GOOD! Went on a Friday evening with a reservation at 5:15. We were seated early which was a MAJOR PLUS and served right away. Our server was very nice and accomadating. Salmon Flatbread- OMG! Amazing! Must have when you go! No excuses! Lobster Cobb Salad- Yummy! Very fresh tasting. My friend and I were splitting the salad and the server was so nice to split it in seperate bowls. I've never gone to a resteraunt and had that done. It was such a nice bounus! Price - Reasonable for what we got. Would I go back? YES! In a heartbeat! I cannot get enough of Bristol! The biscuit is one of the best I've had in this country. The oysters were fresh and I've had most dishes in this restaurant and they were all delicious! A little disappointed in this find. We were hoping for a bit more from viewing the menu it looked very promising and different. The food was just average at best and the service was poor for only having about 10 tables with guests. The lobster bisque and lobster macaroni seem to bee missing the lobster. Finding good seafood in a state that doesn't have a coast seems like the search for the holy grail. Add the fact that I am looking for it in the 'burbs and the search for a holy grail seems a much easier task. In the haze of cheaper chain restaurants and mediocre sushi restaurants hiding behind trendy buildings, Bristol has become the lighthouse I follow to fill my need for the sea. Staff and decour are polished and welcoming and the food is well worth the cost, which is not overly expensive (especially if you're staying next door at the Hilton and getting ready to overspend on unfulfilling room service). Come dressed in any way you want, while it prefers an upper scale feel, don't be afraid to be comfortable. The happy hour appetizers are perfectly priced and portioned for that after work retreat. The dinners (I had everything from seafood to steaks) are cooked perfectly and again, the portions are well handed out for the price of the dish. You won't be disappointed with your trip to Bristol. I'd receommend it to anyone from locals to those passing through and from coastal states (like me). read more

As a visitor to O'Fallon, Bristol has save my impression of the town! After a previous bad experience earlier in the evening, I located this place and the food was fantastic. Servers were friendly and the happy hour with food and drink specials lasted all night! Hard to call it a Happy hour when it is six nights a week all night long but I am not complaining! The tuna tar tar with a wasbi sesame oil was delicious with a pleasant touch of heat. It came with crisp pickled cucumbers and sesame crackers. Next, the oysters were as fresh as you get on the coasts. The server told me they get daily shipments. I believe it. The only thing was when they were shucked, they were not cut from the shell so they were cumbersome to eat. The server explained they normally were freed from the shell but they had a new guy in the back so this should not be an issue next time. The roasted duck flat bread had the most Delicious duck! It was juicy and I wanted more. The fig sauce gave it a lot of sweetness, almost too much. I found myself scrapping the toppings off. Lastly, full as I was, the lobster roll had to be tried. It was not a traditional Maine lobster roll (glad I was warned) instead it was very crunchy with corn and celery. All in all, good food, great value and nice service. I was here on business and this was in the parking lot where my hotel was located. Additionally, it had good reviews. I ate in the bar area and it was slow getting service, but once I did get service, it was great. I ordered the ahi tuna with asparagus and lobster mac and cheese. I thought it was pricey for the portion, which was an appropriate size. The lobster Mac was very good as was the chocolate lava cake I had for dessert. It was "holy crap" good. I came here during a business trip, we tried fried calamari, Vietnamese spring rolls and Bruschetta for starters. Vietnamese spring rolls is a MUST! The fresh mint is such a nice surprise and yet complimentary enhancing the rolls. I ate mixed seafood grille, it was very nicely prepared, tasted great. The food here is always good. It's tough to get decent seafood in the Midwest but Bristol's exceeds expectations. But, that's not why I'm writing a review. I'm writing because our server messed up. It wasn't a great big deal but it happened. Somewhere between our appetizer, which was delivered promptly, and our entree, which was not, our server didn't submit our entree ticket to the kitchen. We didn't complain about it, but we noticed that tables seated after us received their food. We did inquire and the assistant manager Ryan comped our meal. Our server also apologized, saying that it was the worst service she had ever given. Getting our meal comped was totally not what we wanted, nor did we ask for it. All we wanted was our food, which by the way came shortly after we inquired. We suspect the server noticed the error, submitted the ticket, but not in time for us to inquire. Here's a lesson for you. Sometimes orders get messed up. It happens. Almost never does it happen on purpose. Remain calm. Don't be a d*ck about it. Chances are the establishment will make it right with you; sometimes more right than they needed to.
