Been a few times lately for patio meals/drinks and have been very pleased every time. Decent food, a bit pricey, but dog-friendly patio and some of the ONLY GOOD SERVERS IN S.C.!!! I am a local and I absolutely love this place. Great location that provides both inside and outdoor seating. As another post indicated, it's dog friendly, and very casual. The food is spectacular, especially considering its in a beach town. The Ahi Tuna appetizer is very good. The real star of the show is the Shrimp Cocktail. 5 large prawns served in a compote bowl with a spicy shrimp and avocado salsa. Yum! read more

Went by for breakfast and they said they were not open the door was open the open sign was on and they had all the chairs out it was 840 the owner said not open til 9 i had asked to stay and use the bathroom and wait til they served food and he threw us out. So I'm giving it this rating because me and my friends went there like last week. We ate at the restaurant and we didn't really receive the best service. We kept asking for them to come to our table and such. But we didn't really get any attention so then finally we ask for the check and me and my friends don't really like to tip using card, we like to tip in cash so we sign the check and head over to the car (it was parked in front of the restaurant by our table) to grab some cash because we didn't have any with us and as we are about to open the car one of the waiters comes up to us. The waiter comes up to us and literally starts to yell "you know it's rude to not tip at a restaurant? If you want to not tip you go to fucking McDonald's for that kind of service" I have never seen such a reaction I've this before and it bothers me of the audacity to yell at us at all whether or not we tipped. We were going to but then she yelled at us and walked away. I will definitely not eat here again. read more

After a poor experience at another local eatery, my better half and I wandered into Britannia Arms and were greeted and welcomed quite cheerfully. We were given our choice of seating, of which we chose inside at a nice elevated table area with a great cross breeze! It was happy hour (yahoo) and our server was right on top of our beverage order. We ordered up some mussels as an appetizer and decided to split their 'namesake' burger. Our server, Alexandria keenly told us that when we about halfway done with our mussels, that she would have the chef get the burger on. She also stayed on top of our beverages and when I was about 75% through, she asked if I'd be ready for another! Very attentive! Mussels were fabulous. Burges was Great! My wife said we had to buy T shirts and we were cheerfully outfitted to support the wares of a fun, good place to eat. And minus the shirts, the price of lunch seemed like a bargain! Enjoyed a wonderful meal with family on the patio. The Seared Ahi won best meal among fish & chips, baby arugula salad, potato skins & side salad. Grilled artichokes on the appetizer menu were amazing!!! Had a spinach salad with caramelized onions on it and I've been trying to make a salad like that ever since! Had the bangers and mash, never had that dish before so I wasn't sure what to expect. The sausage was great, sweeter and milder, which was suprising but makes for such a great meal. Veggies on the side were crisp, mashed potatoes tasted a little more on the instant potato side. If they had some more rustic home made mashed taters I'd rate this meal a 5. Waittress was extremely nice and helpful with the menu. It felt nice and gourmet, I'd consider it a treat to come back here again. read more

Barman Steve has excellent customer service - attentive, friendly, and always with a smile. Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA is a gem that I haven't found at any other pubs in the area. Steak & kidney pie was ok - needs a bit more sauce and flavor to equal those in the UK. Abslouly the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. I called in my order due to the festivities taking place at the village so that my family and myself could watch the movie being provided. I was told only a fifteen to twenty minute wait for my order. I was pleasantly surprised. The person taking the order wasn't very pleasant to say the least, but I figured it was due to the noise level that lead to her snapping at me. No big deal. So I waited and walked over at the twenty minute mark which was 8:20pm. As I walked in no one greeted my five year old son and I, but that's ok I figured out where to go. I told the gal working I was there to pick up a phone order and immediately another gal asked if was and she stayed my name. I smiled and said yes. She mumbled something and as I attempted to say " I'm sorry I couldn't hear you " she raised her voice and said again "It's Not Ready!" I said ok no problem and I then asked if she might know when it would be so I knew to stay and hang out or just come back. She said very bluntly "I Have No Idea!!" I'm sure the look on my face said it all. I was shocked. I've never heard anyone say that in her position ever! I said "Ok?" And she proceeded to do what she was doing. She asked if I'd like to pay and I said "Sure". As I stood waiting I could tell we were standing right in the way of there servers and asked if there was somewhere they would like us to wait. I was told to sit by the door. I smiled and proceeded to walk over by the door and sit with my son. The restaurant was fairly busy but there wasn't a line nor were there any other customers waiting for their phone orders. As I sat and waited people started showing up and were being seated. I could tell the staff was a bit frantic but that comes with the territory needless to say. My son asked if we could get some water and I attempted to get one of the servers attention however I failed To do so. I walked back over to the cashier/ server pick up area and asked for a cup of water. I was handed the water from the same gal earlier. I then sat back down so I wasn't in the way. Right now it was approximately 8:45pm, needless to say I was a bit frustrated. Not once did anyone tell me how about much longer it might be, nor did anyone express any type of remorse for it taking much longer than I was told. Nor did anyone attempt to convey as to a reason it was taking so long. ZERO communication whatsoever. My son was at this point bummed because we were missing the movie and I didn't blame him. All they had to say was it was taking longer than expected and I would have happily gone back out to watch the movie for a bit longer until our order was ready. But like I said there wasn't one once of any compassion, communication, nor just the decency to do the right thing and tell me that they were behind and it was taking much longer than hopped. Now this next part I'm not proud of. I normally I would have sat and waited a few more minutes or gotten up to ask again how much longer they thought it might be. Also it didn't help much that the way the gal so bluntly stated "I Have No Idea !" Didn't make me feel to welcomed to ask again. So at this point I stood up looked over at the area they were standing in hopes they'd make eye contact and motion for me to come over and pay at least. Eye contact was made however they continued on with conversations and their work. So my son and I walked right out. Do I feel badly for walking out? Yes very!, I've never done that ever before. However I was so irritated by the level of unprofessionalism and the message they conveyed by their lack of respect for other people's time, I felt justified at the time. Would I do that again? No I would at least go up and let them know that I was displeased in their service and ask to speak with a manager. But I was with my son, starving and missing a cute movie with my family. Oh yeah I forgot to add, My husband and daughter were waiting for us on the lawn watching the move. At this point I will never go back there and would not recommend it to anyone on a time schedule. I did witness a family that was sort of seated, I say sort of because someone just pointed and told them that there was a table over there.. They were never greeted nor were their order taken and they stood up and walked out. However a couple that can in after them were seated and already had ordered their drinks. They seemed to know one of the servers. Now that wasn't too cool either. I've only done like two of these yelp reviews and they were both positive. I usually like handling unpleasantries in person with management but this was clearly not going to happen. I do hope they can learn from this and do better for their New customers as they do for their regulars. I apologize for just walking out, two wrongs don't make a right. I regret doing so. Great place for breakfast. Had a great eggs Benedict there. The Only thing I would say that would need improvement is the wait time for food. The waitress was running around having to cover most of the restaurant. I did order an orange juice, but that was never brought to me. It wasn't on the bill, so I didn't raise a stink about it. Went to Capitola over the weekend and couldnt get enough of this place! Ryan the bartender Friday was awesome! Super friendly and made some realllllly good drinks! He recommended we come back Sat. for breakfast, so we decided we'd check it out and were very happy we did! The food was very tastey and they have bottomless mimosas until noon! Great place right on the beach. The owner and staff are friendly and funny. Love coming in for great stodgy English 'classics'! Amazing Cornish pasty and new sausage rolls are my favs. Also try the French Dip! Fresh beer and decent happy hour wine make this a fun place to watch a game, home office during the week or fun evening on the patio.
