If you have an older Jaguar and are like me, then you know Jaguar dealers won't service older Jaguars. Jaguar does not manufacture parts very long after ceasing production of a model. Parts that are already expensive are also hard to find. You've probably tried to maintain your Jaguar at a local, independent repair shop and found that just plain does not work. Under such conditions, loving your Jaguar can take a lot out of you. For example, just try getting a Jaguar aligned at one of those national chain tire shops. They will tell you they can't get parts. They will tell you they don't have the necessary specs or tools. In short, they will tell you that aligning a a Jaguar can't be done. I have been through it all. Finally, I went to British Car Service. Choosing British Car Service may mean traveling some distance if you live outside Sacramento, as I do. But, trust me, if you want to love your Jaguar without all the hastle that comes with maintaining it, it is more than worth the drive. Alex, the owner, is unique in every way. He is extraordinarily skilled. He has an uncanny, intuitive ability to diagnose any problem, and he won't quit--not only until you are satisfied, but he is, too. He takes that much pride in his work. He is personable. He will take an in interest in both you and your car. He will take time to talk to you. He will send your car out for an alighment--no hastle. By the way, I searched for a negative review. There may be some, but I could only find one. I read it. Then I read Alex's response. I, frankly, don't know how he found the time or patience to compose such a thoughtful, accurate, and gracious response. He went out of his way to address the issue and extend himself to the cutomer. At the end, there was no doubt that the criticism was ill-founded. Still, Alex treated it with respect and courtesy. Bentley and Rolls Royce owners bring their cars to Alex from as far away as Arizona. You will find yourself wondering how it is that such a facility might exist in Sacramento. But it does, and the work is done promptly with no fanfare, just competence. Don't even think of going anywhere else. I want to thank Hans and Alex who took hands on from the beginning to the end with our Jaguar. Hans and his team of mechanics at British Car Service is honest and to the point of what is needed to correct the issues on our Jaguar F-Type convertible WITHOUT the sales pitch. After coming home from work one evening our Jag had a really strong gas smell coming from the front engine. Called British Car Service the next morning and spoke with Hans and explained to him of the issue and made an appointment to have our vehicle to get towed in. Day of the drop off of our vehicle I also requested I may need a rear differential oil change and Hans said it was not needed since it's only needed after 150K miles (we only had 70K miles on our car). Hans called me the next day of their findings of the gas smell. It was the rear bank 1 fuel feed line that Stewart's Automotive in Sacramento that damaged installing the new fuel pump and injectors (cost me $3000 for this job with Stewarts Automotive). I used to be a long time client of 18 years of Stewart's Automotive but NEVER again cause of all the issues they have caused with my vehicle. It was one thing after another and I questioned their work which now confirms my concerns. The day can came when Alex calls me that my car is ready for pick up. Came in and he showed me the damaged parts. Our car runs like a champ again. I cannot say enough of how thankful my wife and I are that we finally found a British auto mechanic that is to the point and honest of what needs repairs and what does not. If I could give me more stars I would! I don't know many people with range rovers or jaguars but if i did I would tell them to go to this shop. Alex, the owner, is very knowledgeable but also approachable and reputable.. which is hard to find these days. I take my 2015 Range Rover and wouldn't trust anyone else. I was in a recent accident and the place I went with my insurance tried to avoid fixing issues from their repair work. I gave it to Alex to fix and he told me it was definitely the insurance shop issue and he wrote everything down to give to the shop and I was able to get my money back. He said it happens a lot with places that don't know range rovers. Alex is the real deal! If you're a woman and feel like you get talked into/pressured at auto shops, go to this shop. As long as I have a Range Rover, I'll be going to British car service. The only problem is this shop is small and so you have to book pretty far ahead. But definitely worth the wait. Alex is a personable mechanic who has serviced my Jaguar and Bentley for many years. But I recently left my Bentley for a repair to the trunk and hood, believing it was a bad strut for each. I authorized him to diagnosis the problem for $140 and I was promised an estimate. But instead got a call that the car had been repaired. When I picked up the car, o was told that SIX struts were replaced, as they had to be replaced in pairs. The bill was over $700 but I felt obligated to pay for it. However, upon returning home, I discovered that the trunk's automatic close failed to work correctly, something that was NOT broken before taking the car to Alex. When I took it back, Alex tried lubrication, thinking that would fix it, but finally said he'd have to look at the trunk motor. Four days later, I received a call telling me that it would cost $2,200 to replace the trunk motor and another component. I'm planning to sell the car, a fact that Alex was aware of. Had he told me the initial cost of replacing the struts or correctly diagnosed the problem before replacing them, I would've sold the car "as is", since the trunk opened manually without ANY repairs. I can't say whether it was incompetence or fraud but the result was the same. I paid over $700 and still have a defective trunk. And I made multiple trips to British Car Service that proved to be a waste of time. read more

When you drive a British classic, you learn to be patient, especially after you find a shop that knows how to work on them properly! Alex is a gearhead and it shows. He is a pleasure to talk to, loves old British vehicles and his enthusiasm is infectious. Every time I have been to the shop, there are spotlessly beautiful classic cars on the lifts in addition to the more pedestrian (but still very much loved) vehicles like mine. Can I write another review?! I've never done this but this shop has remained consistent with quality work & pricing. We're in our 60's so we've done lots of DIY repairs and Auto shop repairs. Consistency is the hard find in auto shops. Alex and his crew have that quality dialed in. Our recent problem with our '96 Jag was electrical with all the service lights flashing on the dash. This is Jag owners' worst nightmare especially as parts get rarer to find. This shop resolved that problem plus the flashing lights when passenger door opens. The cost was a small ouch but the the results were excellent. The bonus was Alex showing us pics of him & his 3 brothers and his mom's 4 chihuahuas photo-shopped together. Oh my god, is this the best/honest auto repair place ever? They are so nice , kind and more than anything they are very honest. I bought a Land Rover and as soon as I purchased it, I started to hear some engine noises. No factory warranty so it was on my own. I did not want to go to the dealer for jacked up price to get it done and I also wanted to get it diagnosed. I was iffy about it but I decided to give it a chance to this place. Kevin who works on Land Rover there, is amazing. He knows his stuff and very honest. He spent so much time diagnosing it but sends me pics of every item that needed attentions. But he also told me items that may need repair in the future but not as urgent. I know a lot of auto shops that repairs stuffs that don't need to get fixed right away but Kevin is very honest on what should be repaired. When I visit car repair shop, I always put myself a little distanced as most of the repair shop just want $$$. But not here. I could trust them from the first day I started talking to them and Kevin, enjoys what he does. I'm glad I found them. It's hard to know what else to say, all the positive reviews are spot on. Alex is friendly and knowledgeable and I have found the prices to be very fair (in fact I had an estimate from a corner garage type place for a coolant leak that was 20% more than British Car Service). Plus Alex is a wealth of information to ask questions about modifying my vehicle for off-roading. Visited BCS recently to get the 105k and control arm bushings. Justin, John and Alex were great and seemed very honest. Honesty is hard to find these days. They got the 105k service done at the price quoted. During the service they found a coolant leak. They recommended that due to the HOT temperatures, it would be best to repair the thermostat instead of the control arm bushings. The thermostat repair was cheaper than the control arm repair. Well to make long story short, I believe I've found a new mechanic to service my 06' RRS. I'll be back to get the control arm bushing repaired later this month. My RRS is running like a champ. I would highly recommend the shop. Great work and friendly people. read more

I had my 2008 Range Rover HSE taken there for an inspection and oil change right after I bought it, and they pointed out multiple things to me that I hadn't seen and gave me their advice.
