Such an aesthetic place! Kat was very knowledgeable about British culture. She was very helpful in picking a tea that was right for me. She also helped me find all the British goodies I was looking for. Please try the pots of tea and the Cadbury chocolates!

Tea serving area, sit and relax.

Absolutely love this tea house. They serve tea and crumpets with a shop to take all different kinds of goodies home. Lots of hard to find items. PB Tips was recommended, so delicious and my new fav.

    Shelves stocked with various imports.

I've just left this delightful little shop. My server, Mimi, told me they've been open for about a month now. It's a store, but with cute little tables so that if you'd like to purchase a cup (or pot) of tea, and enjoy it on the spot with a scone or biscuit, you can. They have a small selection of teas for consumption on-site, and a larger amount to carry out. They also import various things like meat pies, blood sausage, various Heinz products (I snagged a potato leek soup!), and of course candies. It's a cute place, tucked away in the back of the shopping plaza. I'd definitely recommend.

The food is delicious and I love the cozy feel and detailed theme of the entire restaurant. I arrived before my friend and asked if we could be seated in the dining room. Carrie hesitated and tried to talk me into the bar area. She said the dining room is usually for large parties. That is NOT true. I've been there with just my husband many times, as well as a small group (4). ALWAYS in the dining room, not the bar. She reluctantly seated me in the dining room and there were 2 booths that had only 2 people!!j Throughout our dinner, she commented "You guys are still here?!" "You guys have been here forever!" It was NOT busy or full and not near closing time. There were no "large parties". After I left for a few minutes, my friend told me that Carrie commented AGAIN about how long we were there (we had appetizers, dinner, dessert and tea!) And said it was slow that night but if it was busy as it normally is, she "would have had to kick us out"!!!! And she "just wanted us to know that". Also, the people who were already there when I got seated were "still there" the whole time we were!! I wonder if she said anything to them?? This was my friend's first visit to The Olde Ship. She loved the food and ambiance but said the service ruined it for her.

Things have changed, it looks different inside, added new stuff but, the same old stuff hasn't changed, fantastic. Every new thing I've tried has been really good. There's spots in the back and in front on the street but traffic is flying fast so use your brain and don't get dead. When they give it to you it's fresh out of the oven piping hot. When I walked in, there was a woman ahead of me with a large order and another woman behind me. Not one employee acknowledged us for ten minutes. No "Hello," no "We'll be right with you," no "Sorry for the wait," no "Welcome" -- nothing. The silence was LOUD. There were three employees right there (and the place is the size of a matchbox), yet not one of them spoke to us the entire time. This is exactly why places like Subway train employees to say, "Welcome to Subway!" I have never felt so ignored in my life. Once the woman ahead of me finally left, I was handed my order -- which had apparently been sitting there the entire time. Had anyone simply greeted me, they probably would have realized my order was ready and I could have left much sooner. Instead, we all just stood there being ignored. We watched an employee fill ten gravy cups while my food just sat there waiting. I understand that they're working hard. They're tired, it's nonstop, and it's a very small space. They clearly weren't happy, and every customer in that room could feel it. The employers should care about that. The food itself was awful, too. Maybe the beef one could have been decent, and maybe the chicken one had potential, but the vegetable pasty was downright disgusting. All of them desperately needed seasoning. You shouldn't have to drown food in gravy just to make it taste good. The entire experience was terrible. I even spoke with the woman who had been ahead of me in line in the parking lot afterward, and she felt exactly the same way. Never again.

We arrived at 7pm, and the place was still buzzing from Happy Hour. Lots of people drinking, eating and chatting while basketball played on the TV's they've got placed strategically around the pub -- no matter where you're sitting you can see the game. Our server, Natalia, was very friendly and took great care of us. My wife wanted a simple cheeseburger, which was cooked to a perfect medium-rare as requested. We hadn't been here in a while, and she admitted she'd forgotten just how good the burgers are ("much better than the other pubs around," she said). I ordered the Banger Bites: slices of English sausages served with brown gravy that I augmented with Coleman's hot English mustard and some HP sauce. The bangers were crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a mild flavor accented by Earthy herbs. Toss in some whiskey, and we were off to the races. While we kept things simple this time (we HAD eaten popcorn at our movie), the menu boasts a wide variety of options, from burgers and sandwiches to pub faves like fish & chips, shepherd's pie, bangers & mash, Scotch eggs and so on; plus an assortment of starters that go well with games and beer (wings, nachos, sausage rolls, salads and a fantastic, house-made chili). Lots of bars and pubs in Woodland Hills have come and gone, but Pickwick has remained solidly planted, the reason being they offer great food and even greater people to enjoy it with. Go!!

It's the kind of place where regulars know each other and you can catch a big game with loud, passionate sport loving folks. There's SO many TVs that I've lost count and a giant projector screen. Did I mention it's a British pub, but a die-hard packers bar?! Pickwick's has easily become our favorite bar, so much so that my husband and I will drive 40 minutes (from Ventura) to watch a game here! The food is solid and affordable across the board. Breakfast hits, burgers are always a safe bet, chili fries are a must, and the nachos are definitely worth ordering. They also have some (authentic?) British food... that I've only tried a few of. Bangers and mash is good, I can't say much about the rest. Drinks are great too, with a nice selection including a few British beers on tap, but we always go for a good ole Guinness (or several). What really seals the deal here is the service. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, always checking in without being overbearing. Shoutout to Natalia and Kim, absolute gems who make the place feel like home. Despite the restaurant being covered by one server, he provided excellent service. The food took a bit longer to come out while the drinks arrived swiftly. *Berry Bramble: a well balanced sweet and tart cocktail with a classic bright and citrusy profile. *London Fog: similarly sweet with a strong strawberry lemonade profile. It had the most majestic presentation, with our server placing a fog filled bubble at the table. *Hot Honey Chicken Scone: there was a subtle spice with a heavy honey coating. The scone was rather dense but had a delicious buttery and cheesy flavor. Our server rightfully described the portion size as being on the smaller side, so I would order two if choosing this as an entree. *Fish & Chips: came with a single piece of fried fish, French fries, mushy peas, and a variety of condiments. I wished it were a bigger portion given the nearly $29 price tag. The fried fish had a sweet, light batter. The fries were rather starchy and needed a longer fry for a better crisp. The mushy peas were surprisingly well seasoned and paired nicely with the mild fish. The curry ketchup and chutney were rich and perfect condiments. The pearl onions were rather dense and difficult to eat. *Sticky Toffee and Date Cake: a stellar, indulgent dessert. The salted caramel ice cream offset the sweetness of the cake. The cake had a fudgy texture and the smothering of toffee gave it a sweet smokiness. Despite coming during happy hour, I found the prices to be a bit steep for the portion sizes. However, the flavors were tasty across the board, so I could see returning for a more celebratory occasion.

Some individuals in our group ordered the short rib benny, which came with a hash brown that reminded me of the ones from McDonald's. The plating also felt really bare and underwhelming. A side salad could've been added to make it seem more worth the $22. I ordered the English dip and it had a better presentation and was filling, but overall it wasn't anything memorable, however the cost was more justified at $21. As mentioned earlier, we were here to celebrate some birthdays. We did bring a small cake to share and were ultimately charged a cake fee of $32. That pretty much soured the experience especially since it was never disclosed to us beforehand that we should expect a fee. We just felt this surprise charge could've been communicated upfront and then it probably wouldn't have ruined our overall experience. For most of us, we probably won't be coming back again.
