A craving for boba, means a need for a boba adventure! We stumbled upon Hoji after browsing for good boba on our way home. Hoji shared the same parking lot with a coffee shop we're familiar with! On a Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of parking. When you walk up to the store, there isn't a sign on the outside. Before walking in, there's also a posted sign that says only 10 people at a time. We counted about 6 people, and proceeded to walk in. The decor is timeless and vintage. Super cool to look at and enjoy. We turned around and there was the cashier. It definitely is a small as can be. We took a bit of time looking at the menu and then deciding our drinks. We were a bit indecisive, but settled on their Rose Salted Cream and their Hojicha Black Sesame. The cashier was a bit interesting and didn't bother to help us or explain anything. He had us repeat our order a few times out of inattentiveness. It wasn't loud in there, but he definitely wasn't listening. Immediately after our order, he goes on his phone. Another worker had finished making a drink for a customer, and had to nudge the cashier to let him know the drink was ready. Even then, he wasn't on alert about it and made a face at the customer who stood up to grab the drink. Our drinks came out fairly quickly. We took our photos and left to sit in the car. It was quite small and stuffy in there. Our drinks were delightful! You can definitely taste the hojicha. The black sesame didn't overpower the drink, as for the rose salted cream, it was flowery enough. The boba itself was definitely handmade and perfectly chewy. I can understand why this store's drinks are a favorite. I deducted a star because of the service and attitude. We walked out the door saying goodbye, and even then, they didn't seem to care. The customer service here is lacking, but at least the drinks are decent. I might wait to see if any changes are made to their workers before coming back to try again.
Hoji Tea Room is such a cute, tiny boba shop that really focuses more on the tea itself rather than toppings, which I personally love. The inside has a really cozy and aesthetic vibe, and one thing I thought was super cool is that you can actually sit and draw, then put your artwork up in the shop. It gives the place a really creative and community feel that makes it stand out from other tea spots. The worker was super nice and helpful, especially since I was being really indecisive about what to get. They took their time to explain things and helped me decide without making it feel rushed at all. I got the matcha latte, and I absolutely loved it. It was smooth, well balanced, and just really comforting without being too heavy or overly sweet. I also tried a few drinks off my friends' orders, like the Assam + Oat and the Barley + Sea Cream. The Assam + Oat had a really deep, bold tea flavor that paired nicely with the creamy oat milk, making it smooth but still strong. The Barley + Sea Cream was more unique, with a light roasted, nutty taste from the barley and a rich, slightly salty cream top that made it really interesting and different in a good way. It's a really cozy spot that highlights the tea experience in a simple but thoughtful way, and I'd definitely come back.
I have been coming here for a year now. I always get the thai tea, which is usually great. However, the past few months I have ordered with light milk/cream and it has been continually disregarded by the workers even when it's written on the cup. Most recently, I ordered it this way and saw the guy in the back pour milk pause for a second and then even add more... when he should've add more tea instead. They also never fill the cups up all the way and it always looks like someone drank it down an inch before you even sip it. The flavor is good, but they've been missing the mark with accommodations and have been stingy with portions, which is disappointing, considering I'm paying for a cup filled to the top with ice, but the drink isn't?!

But look for all the people and then you know this is the one. It's super cute inside and homey. They decorate the walls with completed stamp cards that look like the old mini library checkout cards. The workers are always so chill and willing to help if you have questions. They do have a small menu with seasonal options from time to time. My favorites are definitely the Salted Cream Thai Tea and their Matchas! They're always perfectly sweetened and balanced and their boba is so soft and delicious. It has quickly become one of my top boba spots!
Genuinely the best matcha I've ever had and that's saying something because I've tried A LOT (follow my matcha page @morganxmatcha on insta hehe). I'm from Orange County so I'm so sad this spot is so far from me other wise I'd be here every day! They also do a stamp card where if you accumulate 10 stamps from different purchases you get 1 free drink which is nice of them!! Their matcha comes 75% sweet and with oat milk as the default and it's actually perfect! The flavor profile is so nutty, bright, slightly vegetal and almost a little fruity which pairs so well with the oaty flavor of the milk. The shop itself is so cute and cozy and I love all the doodles and old stamp cards on the walls. The staff was also very nice and get your drink out quick. If they expand to OC that would be a dream come true!!
Hoji has been my go to matcha and tea spot ever since I discovered it near UCR. It's surprisingly hard to find a great matcha spot in the IE, but Hoji is definitely a hidden gem. I've tried their matcha latte multiple times and it's honestly comparable to some of the famous matcha spots in OC and LA. The matcha is smooth with a medium bodied mouthfeel, a velvety texture, and just the right amount of sweetness. Their thai tea is also excellent but my favorite drink has to be the hojicha black sesame with boba. The hojicha has an amazing roasted aroma while the black sesame salted cream adds a rich, nutty, and savory depth that makes the drink incredibly addictive. The handmade boba is the real highlight. It's soft yet chewy at the same time, it's just the perfect texture. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and I appreciate that they offer a stamp card for returning customers. The shop itself is on the smaller side, but the retro vibe, cute art wall, and full length mirror make it a fun place to hang out and snap a few pictures. This has become a staple in my drink rotation and I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu.
I was passing through Redlands on a matcha mission and somehow stumbled into Hoji Tea Room, tucked away in what looks like an industrial strip mall that screams "this can't be it"... but oh, it was!! The place is tiny.... like, two chairs inside tiny w a few bonus seats outside if you're lucky!! Staff were nice, very proud of their craft and telling me all about the history of the shop. I ordered two matcha lattes (bc self-control is a myth): one w boba, one without. They say they use ceremonial-grade matcha, and I can easily attest that they are NOT lying!!! They're out here whisking matcha the legit way w a bamboo chasen and ceramic bowl like it's a full-on tea ceremony!! And WOW!!!!! Ceremonial-grade matcha just hits different.... smooth, rich, zero grass clippings energy. If you know, you know!!!!! The boba was solid too, softer and less aggressively chewy than typical boba, which I actually loved. Long story short: tiny shop, big matcha energy. I will absolutely be back the next time I'm anywhere near Redlands!!
Literally the Only matcha and tea place worth going to in Redlands. I loved their seasonal drinks, mango matcha, Thai tea w sea salt, and their sesame black tea with sea salt. Been coming here since they opened and I always order 2 extra drinks for me for the next day! Cozy place, very local and friendly workers who will explain to you each drink!
I LOVE Hoji!!! There are a couple of coffee and tea shops nearby / in the same plaza, but Hoji's tea beverages are next level. My favorites are their hojicha with black sesame salted cream (contains dairy) and strawberry matcha latte (oat milk only). Their boba is nice, fresh, and soft tasting, so I'd highly recommend getting it if you'd like boba pearls!! The staff and service here is also super friendly. Overall, great experience every time I've been here.
Finally got to check this place out and it was wonderful! Best known for their Hojicha, I also tried their matcha and it was delicious. A creamy, vibrant green matcha balanced with the right amount of sweetness. The hojicha was nutty and didn't get overpowered by the savory sea salt cream. Staff was also quick and friendly! Absolutely recommend checking them out if you're around the area.
Hoji is a small tea shop that offers a variety of freshly brewed tea and matcha with boba. It's tucked away in a small unit in the plaza, which did make it a bit hard to find at first. Upon walking inside, the store was nicely decorated and at the time I went, it was Halloween, so they definitely make sure the shop fits the season! I opted for their Miyazaki Hojicha paired with a black sesame salted cream. I am a very big fan of Hojicha tea and the color looked fantastic! The tea itself was umami and had a very nice roasted flavor. The black sesame salted cream paired excellently with the tea, the nutty flavor bringing out more of the roasted tea flavor. Their drinks are also very affordable! I was quite surprised by how cheap their drinks were considered so many shops charge $8-9 for a drink of this quality. If you're looking for a nice, refreshing tea beverage, look no further and come here!
A quaint tea shop with a small but well-crafted selection of drinks to choose from. Hoji is somewhat of a hidden spot, being in a plaza without noticeable signs to pick it out. We ordered a matcha yabukita latte with boba and their special Kanazawa milk tea. I enjoyed both, and thought 50-75% sweetness was perfect. There was a lot of ice so I would definitely ask for less or none if I come by again. The shop itself is very small, mostly to just drop in and order a drink, and maybe check out their vibrant and cute art wall while you wait for your order. There are a few seats outside to enjoy your drinks, but this mostly seems like a pop in and go place.
Super cute tea shop in a very corporate looking area. Limited seating indoors and outdoors but plenty of parking out front. It was slightly hard to find though since they didn't have a sign with the name out front (unless I just missed it). Service was friendly and helped us out since it was our first time, and our drinks came out pretty quick. I also thought the prices here were super reasonable compared to most tea shops that I've been to Assam salted cream w/ boba: 3/5 I liked this but the honey flavor was a bit too strong for me. Had a wonderful experience at hoji! We ordered the hojicha sesame latte and the assam black milk tea with boba. Our favorite was the hojicha sesame latte as it had a fragrant tea flavor and it didn't just taste like milk and cream. The boba texture was also one of the best I've had. Would highly recommend ordering boba with your drinks. It was chewy and tasted freshly made. The Assam milk tea on the other hand, wasn't exactly my favorite since it tasted mainly like milk and cream. I couldn't really taste the tea flavor in it but the boba texture was good. Service was excellent! The cashier was kind. We received our orders quickly. There were some games on the table to play while we waited. Not much seating inside the store. Plenty of parking out in front in a shared lot with other businesses. Would come back for their hojicha sesame latte! read more

Came back after remembering this place exists and got probably the best heist Matcha ever. Blows a lot of the other iced matches in the area out of the water, definitely authentic and delicious. Very light. Will be coming back. read more

First of all no one is making hand made boba out there and here it is freshly made all the time!! All the drinks are my favorite because I love tea, period. Their choices of tea are exquisite and sourced from the best tea makers. The vibe is also what I show up for! Such quick and communicative service! Their drinks are quite sweet. I originally ordered my matcha sweeter than expected and I asked for it to be adjusted which was accommodated accordingly. I recommend 75% to those who like a stronger matcha taste. I had a great experience as this was on my way up to big bear. Highly recommend!! read more
One of the best matcha lattes I have ever had. Would definitely come back again! I originally asked for slightly sweet but they recommended I try it just the way it comes because it is already slightly sweet. So best choice was to order it exactly the way it comes! read more
This is my go to for a good tea! All of their drinks are consistent and made in house. I highly recommend their thai tea; I usually steer away from it at other places, but theirs is perfectly sweetened and the tea flavor is very prominent without being bitter or too strong. The asaam black tea is a classic, and what made me love this spot. I like it at normal or less sweet with boba. The people here are always so knowledgeable, and will kindly help you with any questions or adjustments you may have. They have a high expertise in what they do! Their interior is iconic and perfect for photos. It is clean with soft music, but limited inside seating. Their outside seating often is taken during busier times, and seems better for a chat rather than work. Overall, always 10/10! You can never go wrong with coming here. I loveeee their Thai tea! It isn't too sweet and I love the sizing options of their drinks. I got their Thai tea with coffee jelly and salted cold foam on top, it's definitely my favorite drink here. My partner tried matcha with no sweetener and mentioned it had a decent taste of matcha with a slight bitterness to it. The ambience is very chill, the line was out the door but I felt their team breezed by it quickly! read more
Hoji Tea Room is definitely a specialty drink oasis. They are definitely a hand made to order novel establishment for those with cutting tastes. While there were only a few indoor seating and a few outdoor seats, I saw plenty of happy takeaway customers going through their door. They have easy access from Redlands Blvd and Tennessee, and parking is ample at their end of the industrial park (if you're new to this drink house, they are located closer to Tennessee St end). We shared the Kaga Bocha Tea. This is cold steeped in oat milk resulting in being smoothly palate. While lightly sweetened, it retained a profound sweetness. Its richness allowed a nuttiness to shine through. We also had the Barley Tea. If you're looking for an earthy, hardy grassy, dark tea, this is for you. It comes "lightly" sweet, which was plenty for this robust tea. read more

Not bad for a matcha and tea joint in the redlands area! We ordered a matcha drink and the miyazaki hojicha and they both were pretty good. You can definitely taste the quality of the tea. However, the drinks can get a bit too sweet so definitely adjust the sweetness. I did wish they ask how you would want the sweetness level because it wasn't really that clear in the menu. There's no seating area inside so it's definitely a togo spot. read more

*Drinks? *Customer service? I had been waiting weeks (maybe months) to try this place - finally went (after it reopened from the car incident - iykyk). The drinks were good but the gentleman who helped me was less than friendly (maybe he was having a bad day but I take customer service very seriously and it can make or break an experience for me). As I said it was my first time and he seemed irritated to have to help and answer questions. Also, for my IBS/lactose girlies - they don't sub milk on the matcha - something to consider when ordering. For service alone I won't go back - but the drinks are worth a shot if you want to check out the place read more
matcha latte was yummmyyy!! surprising find in the ie haha but i really enjoyed the matcha latte, great flavor and sweetness for me! the cups are also pretty large, so you get a lot for what you pay for. i prefer my matcha to be pretty strong, but u enjoyed the latte. its a little lighter, but still good yummy rating: 7.5/10 read more

One of the best tea shops to ever exist in the IE! Their little shop is so cozy and warm, perfectly reflecting their customer service. They care for the quality of their tea--from their hojicha, to their matcha, and Thai tea! Not only that but their boba is perfect to pair with any of their drinks. Not too sweet; it's a great balance of high quality tea taste and chewy sweet homemade boba. One thing to note is you need to try their seasonal fruit matcha lattes. One that I will always cherish and look forward to is the season of their strawberry matcha. Probably the best strawberry matcha (hands down) is from Hoji. If you're lucky enough to catch it when it's in season, it is def a must try! read more

My absolute favorite local tea house and matcha spot. The quality is always amazing and consistent. 10/10 matcha. Strong flavor, good ratio, a little nutty, never overly sweet. This is a very small cafe located in the Redlands! It's quite accessible with a large parking lot. I got a matcha latte as they had a pretty limited menu with just basic drinks. The size of the drink was quite small. The matcha was ok but the star of the show was the handmade boba which tasted like a fusion between classic boba and coffee jelly. Very small cute place. You can tell there is a lot of thought put into the decor. Really focused on tea and matcha. No coffee. It was very pleasant and relaxed, friendly staff. Seating available inside and a little seating inside. We tried the Japanese custard as a dessert and it was very sweet and yummy. Think flan. The sweet cream sesame tea was delicious with their homemade boba. The nutty flavor was fantastic! I also loved the Thai tea! It was super creamy on top and refreshing! I'm gonna be honest. I stopped drinking matcha because I thought I didn't like it anymore, but really I just hadn't had a good matcha UNTIL I came here. Stopped by here after a family trip and after having a craving for matcha. At first, I thought I made a wrong turn somewhere because the area was pretty industrial. The matcha latte here is really good, not too sweet and pretty floral. The hojicha sea cream is also good. Overall, extremely glad I was able to stop by. I was really disappointed with the drinks after reading all the raving reviews. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Salted Thai is sickeningly sweet and not adjustable. The matcha latte tasted like water and the boba had no flavor. Didn't end up finishing the drinks and threw them both away. The only pro is the prices are pretty reasonable. read more

If you're looking for fruity flavors, Hoji probably isn't the spot. They specialize in straight teas served over ice--clean, roasty, tea-forward. Milk can be added, but it's optional
