Gluten free fish and chips - halibut, single portion
    Maryann K.

Gluten free fish and chips is one of the harder treats to find as a gluten free diner and this place delivers! Not only do they have GF batter and a separate fryer, you can pick what kind of fish you want and a single or double filet. It's been 6 years since I've had GF fish and chips so I splurged on the halibut. It was so delicious. I got the single and it was a really generous portion. Fried to perfection, this was an indulgence that gluten free diners dream of. Thick cut chips were really great too. Friendly service. Not sure if I'll ever make it back to Charlottetown but if I do this place is first on my list.

Came across this place on our trip to PEI. Love the big filets of fish; fresh and plenty of chips (fries) to go with them. Great service!

A must try fish and chips restaurant. The best fish and chips I've ever eaten! THE FOOD: I've never been so full after eating at a restaurant. We got large Caesar salads -- The best salad I have ever eaten. (We came back here a second time just to get another salad) We also got coleslaw, a great ratio of veggies/Mayo Onion rings were pretty good. The main meal came out quickly, a family platter of 8 fillets of haddock with chips on the bottom. We ordered gravy which worked as a perfect combo with the chips. Very filling. Great batter to fish ratio. Generous portions. Simply a must try. SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE: Super Super friendly service. Seating indoors is open, slightly dark. Also has Outdoor seating, very peaceful. I wish I had this back in Boston.

    Single for $20 can.

Lunch today in Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island. Many places here for fish and chips but this one was the highest rated in the area on Yelp. Small storefront on the main dining street. Bold, blue color makes it easy to find. Seated outside per our request, the server was very quick and friendly, provided good advice on portion sizes and menu choices. Hot, fresh food delivered in about 10 minutes, drinks kept us cool in the wonderful weather while waiting. The single filet plate had a HUGE piece of fired Haddock, bigger than the dinner plate with hand cut fries, cole slaw, and lemon slices. The server offered special, homemade tartar sauce that was very good, malt, and ketchup for the fries. The fish was superb, the fries should be double fried due to the water content in fresh potatoes, but they were very good, just not as crispy as they could be. Bathrooms were very clean and smelled freshly cleaned, inside dining is a little dark but there are many tables to choose from. We will return to this place if we make it back this way again.

I'm giving this place a 5 because they had gluten free fish and chips and I've never seen that! And it was great! My husband and I each got the Haddock Fish and Chips, his was regular batter. The size of the fillet was enormous. We also head a Caesar salad and some thick cut fries and both were good as well. Service was friendly and quick. Unfortunately I took this picture after I'd already eaten half off the fish.

One piece fish and chips Just to be clear the one piece is a piece 1/2

We grab lunch here every time we visit PEI. Highly recommend the 1 piece haddock filet. It's HUGE. I get fish and salad, instead of chips (I hear you all groaning ;) The garden salad is one of the best. Full of veggies: tomatoes, red and green peppers, red onion, cabbage and shredded carrot. Great to have the treat of a perfectly fried piece of fish and know the salad is full of vitamins. Friendly service every time. Fast service too!! If they lose the plastic straws this place would be utterly perfect. If that matters to you be sure to say no straw when you are seated.

The 7-day Tour East Bus trip that I'm traveling on stopped here; we have 50 tourists in our group. It's a meal stop so only a quickie review. The $325 meal plan includes 6 lunches and 6 dinners of which this restaurant is one of the venues. This downtown Charlottetown eatery location is beautiful and clean. The British style set entree of (haddock) fish and chips (from PEI's south shore in China Point by the Murphy family) was excellent as well as the service. Delicious! There's table, booth as well as sidewalk patio seating plus high chairs for young children. Free WiFi is available. At least 500,000 people visit this province annually; five times more than the whole population of PEI.

Best fish and chips I ever ate. I don't live in the area, but if I did, I would eat there all the time. I believe I had the cod.
