I graduated from the aesthetics program at Brittany in July and my on the floor educator Ms. Yona was amazing. From day one she was super kind and helpful and I really enjoyed her teaching style. She would help every student with anything they felt unsure about and go over it as many times as necessary. I left with a sense of confidence knowing that I had such a thorough instructor who has 14 years of experience under her belt and is truly passionate about esthetics. I would HIGHLY recommend considering this school for aesthetics, I know that I will confidently pass my state board exams with the knowledge I've acquired here. Overall, I had a good experience here. I will say administration was very kind but it was difficult to get in touch with someone in regards to personal inquiries most of the time and I did not like that. I have been trying to get in touch with someone there since last month in regards to something personal and I still haven't heard back from them although their assistant said I would get a call right back once they had a moment, a month ago. Aside from that, the school is great, I would encourage the school to invest in more equipment like an all in one machine for the esthetician students to get more practice BUT I learned a lot with what was available. The worst school ever!!!! Do not waste your money, do your research and go to another school. All this school cares about is taking your money!! The teachers do not even teach you what you need to learn, they go there just to get another check. They are so unorganized, the mess up your hours, tests, days. I congratulate the ladies of Brittany Beauty School Bronx for handling the daunting task of my daughter lengthy natural hair! My child is 14 and still learning how to style her natural hair. No one suggested perms or relaxers; instead they suggested leave in conditioners. The stylist was a little taken aback by the job at hand because long natural kinky hair is rare and this kid's hair is sooo thick. I went to get my hair braided I wanted the Dutch braids with hair extensions for a fuller look; the women couldn't start braided correctly and she was complaining in Spanish assuming I didn't speak Spanish or understood what she was saying. The worst part was she just complaining and being on her cell phone at the same time, kept walking away to use her phone. I told her in Spanish if she can't do it then she shouldn't start it , none of the ladies there had no experience braiding. They were all shock I spoke Spanish lol ( Very unprofessional, Rude, changes the price last minute from $30 to $50 , came out horrible braids were lose came out the following day. A few days ago, I decided to go to Brittany Beauty Academy for a service. It was my first time at the school for anything. I was dissatisfied with the end result of said service, and so I asked to speak to the management team about the matter. I must say, I was very impressed with how management handled the situation. They arranged for me to come in the very next day so as to better assist me with my needs. To maintain a positive relationship with me, they offered various options for tackling the issue. Sam, who works with management, approached me with a respectful attitude and a professional demeanor. We mutually agreed on what the best option would be. I started Brittany Beauty Academy in February of 2020. This was right before COVID-19 required us to quarantine. I believe my experience and education was very different than many others who attended the school before the virus. The school provided me with virtual classes and the option to learn from 4 different teachers. Learning different techniques from 4 different licensed Estheticians educators, managed to give me the best education I could get, given the circumstances. I strongly believe in life you are treated the way you treat other and it is no different in this school. I am alumni to this school. Diana was the one who registered me and started me out. The school is lovely and intimate and the teachers are truly invested in you. Like any school their are some students who make the experience better and/or worst. But i really stuck through it because of Ms. Michelle, Ms. Josephine, Ms. J and EILEEN. I took the cosmetology program here a year ago. The instructors are knowledgeable and direct. When it was time for my state board exam I could still hear their words as I remembered the answers and how to complete the procedure properly during my practical. I see some of the reviews here and a lot of them have to do with the students. I will agree that it is a bit like high school however it just depends on your focus. I was more focused on attaining the lesson and maintaining my grades so I really didnt care who was loud, who was hanging out. It's called Priorities. If you mind your business and create a relationship with everyone from the instructors to the director you won't have time for anything else. I'm in my 30s tho and have been in the beauty industry for over 10 years. This school was close to home and by the time I was ready for my exams I was GOOD. As with everything everyone has different experiences I feel that if you put your mind to what your doing and focus on that your surrounding will work with you and so far that has been my experience. So far I have been very happy and everyone has been great through my new journey. My teacher Mrs. Rios is very understanding,polite and intellectual she does her very best to meet everyone's needs. Hello, I have completed the Nail Tech program recently at the Brittany Beauty Academy Bronx location. I want to start off by saying this program is meant for getting your state license. And you do need to take additional courses to further your nail career. Now as far as my experience at the school it wasn't horrible but there is definitely room for improvement. The way the curriculum is set up will leave you confused for the first few days, you're basically going in on a unit that is already finishing and you start a new unit the following week, which is your official first unit. The kit the school sells is what you need for the state board (which needs to be unsealed for the state test) and not enough supplies to practice in class. You're better off getting your supplies from the nail supply store (not a beauty supply) the school can provide a list of everything you need and where to go. Since talking about supplies once you're out of the class room and on the floor taking customers that come to the school and pay for services you use your own supplies as well. They do have a small box with a few regular nail polishes to choose from, but yet offer other services and expect the students to provide the materials. They do provide all the supplies for all the cosmetology services offered. With the nail industry on the rise I feel that they should have a better and more organized program for us. As Nail Tech Students (18-25) we had to sit in a small room with no window and share a table with three people at times, how is that comfortable? How is that safe as far as the ventilation? I was told there's AC (that was broken most of the time). Now let's talk Mani/Pedi stations ok we had manicure tables. But Pedicure chairs literally cost 1/2 the tuition and yet we didn't even have one to do a proper pedicure at. We had to perform pedicures in at home foot spa tubs that were dirty and dusty from hair and sitting around on the floor, then take turns with the pedicure seat because there is only one or you can just put the clients foot on your knee and scrub away. That is not, one professional in the least, two not realistic and prepping a student for the work field and three not sanitary. Paying attention to your hours is a MUST, especially if making up hours you get a 30 min break but they take an hour from you if you go in before 12 Noon with no reasonable explanation justifying why. As well as keeping track of your service tickets, I keep notes of everything and took pictures, yes it was that serious. I get that there are many students but once again organization plays a big role. As well as exams I was given the wrong mock state board so many times. (cosmo instead of nail tech) I had to wait for the actual nail tech instructor to come in and give me the correct exam. As far as job placement I found work at a nail salon while attending class and was offered two other positions through the school to do nails in beauty salons, once again cosmetology focused. I found employment on my own at a second location and yes another nail salon where a nail tech is more likely to be sought out for service. I feel the school could be better if they put more funding into their other programs and it be better structured. As far as the Instructors/Staff I personally got along well with them, but you get the same energy you put out. At the end I got my license and was able to connect with some awesome people. So dissatisfied with this school. I've never seen a school so disorganized. When I first signed up for the school they lied and told me I HAD to spend $700 for a kit that majority of it I didnt even use!! And to later find out I didnt even HAVE to buy it to begin with, I could've went and bought my own supplies which would've saved me so much more money. The staff does not care about the students only about their money. Also, I felt like I was in a high school getting in trouble and being threatened to get sent home for using my phone!! Its 2019 how does any school expect people not to use their phones?? The instructors have constant attitudes and speak with such a condescending tone it's ridiculous. I would never recommend this school to anyone. I never am the type to go on websites to write reviews for any reason bad or good but I drove over an hour for 4 1/2 months from home to come to the school to deal with their nonsense. Granted, you do find some talented students that know what they're doing because they already come from a background of cosmetology but, otherwise the school sucks in every way. It is mostly made of students that are in public assistance. Of course the government requires them to either work or go to school in order to keep their assistance and so, they choose to go to school which in turn lowers the standard of the school and fills it up with unmotivated, waste of space "students". In all honesty, I don't know if my high rating has anything to do with the student stylist I had but she was absolutely amazing! This was a young lady who was truly passionate about her craft, extremely personable, professional yet gentle, and also a swift learner! She took her time with me and even made me laugh a few times. I was a little nervous about having my hair done by an unlicensed hair stylist but the young lady who cut my hair completely calmed all my fears. The instructors that assisted her throughout the process were also very knowledgeable and patient not to mention stylish! My entire experience here was super pleasant and price was very reasonable. I ended up paying $7 less than I would at my regular hair salon. If you are on a tight budget but your hair is starting to look like something out of the Little Shop of Horrors, I recommend this place. read more

Okay so let me start off by saying the pictures for the Bronx location is not the Bronx location! (It's nowhere near this nice) those pictures are probably the Manhattan location. You'd think that all the money that each student spends we would have decent equipment but we were wrong. Broken hair dryers, broken tables, broken magnifying laps etc. I have never attended a more disorganized school!! Each teacher tells you a different set of rules no one really knows what they are. YOU the student have to double check the teacher to make sure they are doing they're job correctly since apparently it's too hard. It's like the staff here purposely tries to discourage you, they don't understand that this is people's futures they're messing with but they could care less. The director DEFINITELY doesn't care and neither does the owner but they do a good job pretending like they do when they have to. The staff here is only good for gossip. I really hope that this school is investigated. You pay alllll this money yet you still have to buy your own school supplies?? But they don't tell you that when you sign up, they don't tell you a lot of things when you sign up. The only good thing I can say about this school is the other classmates who attend make it fun other wise I wouldn't give this place not one star. This school is definitely money hungry and unprofessional indeed. I remembered I wanted to sign up for this school to pursue my career, until I saw what's really inside there and what I saw was unbelievable. There is only 3 hair dryers that are working, there is no dryer for the mannequin heads, the color of the school is very ugly and plain, there's barely work shown from the students, the staffs doesn't dress professional, classrooms looks dead and needs improvements and finally I felt a negative vibe. I'm sorry but this school seems like all they care about is money. You have to pay for the application fee, pay for the supplies for any classes and I wonder for what? This school looks like it was made for students for public assistance and not to enjoy their passion, especially since they barely have equipments in there or colors. I would recommend this school, but from the way I saw inside the school and the vibe nah I wouldn't apply at all. It even made me wonder if their principle or instructors even care about their students and their passion, because from what I can see is that they don't really give the students some type of credit or appreciation. From what I can I see this school is dead and it doesn't have that "cosmetology" theme, it's just dead plain ugly.
