Nice menu which should please most with a good wine list featuring varietals from many countries. There's a nice layout of tables and bar area plus an upper level with additional tables. Our server Connie was very friendly, professional and efficient,. She was very easy to talk to and made us feel comfortable. The wine list is on an iPad which included prices and a lot of good information about each wine. There's an attached wine shop which provides a 10% discount if you show your lunch or dinner receipts. It was just warmed through. Would have been a hit if you got a great serving of creamy hot Brie. The crustini s were stale that came with the Brie. One of us got our drink from the bar , the other had to wait . My gnocchi was not even a little warm. Sent it back and then it really wasn't that much warmer but by then my husband was finished with his meal. And my husbands short rib was just an over priced pot roast by the taste and texture. Am I experience if I guess is to sit back the dish, management would come over and apologize for see what they could do to combat with disappointment . While our server apologize in return with a redone dish, it still was not up to park. I'm sure as far as the restaurant standards. . So glad we found this spot in our travels...very unexpected. Industrial chic ambience was very welcoming with an array of seating options, from booths to comfy couches, to tables and chairs. And it's right downtown so convenient. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. And the food was delicious! Try the ahi tuna napoleon and the mushroom soup, real standouts! The charred Caesar salad was also yummy...nothing like a little char on romaine to add depth of flavor. We decided to sample a few of the appetizers and they were amazing! The Mussels Beurre Blanc were by far the best, with the Crab Mac & Cheese coming in a close second. We also tried the Whipped Feta Dip and the Braised Pork Slides. They were both good but no where near as good as the Mussels and Crab Mac & Cheese. The food was very good and the service was, too. Ambiance was a bit too stark. The seating was not conducive to an intimate dining experience. The cost was too, too much! $26 for a Manhattan, $60 for a small filet. Nothing is worth that much!! During dinner the electricity in the whole back of the restaurant went out, including the bathrooms and the ability to take credit card payments. We were a party of 4. 3 of us ordered beer. 2 were ice cold, mine was room temperature. I mentioned this to our server. She offered me another empty glass that was in a fridge to help cool it down. It didn't work.There was no offer of an actual cold beer as replacement. We ordered 2 Flatbreads( among other things). Both flatbreads had undercooked, doughy crust. The server said "sorry about that" and handed us our checks. The Truffle Fries and Calamari with sauces were very good. Overall...a disappointment! read more

I came back here for Easter with my family and it was nice to see they had a Easter brunch menu. Needless to say, one of my favorite restaurants in Martinsburg has now become a restaurant I would likely not return to. The filet mignon was listed as MP, but it was definitely a surprise to find out it was 60 dollars! I know I should have asked what the price was before ordering, but I figured it would be worth it based off my prior experiences... the filet definitely didn't taste fresh and the deviled eggs which were listed for $15 were literally 2 eggs cut in half. The taste left much to be desired. We ordered 2 orders of the deviled eggs and paid $30 bucks for 4 eggs that didn't match previous taste experiences, unbelievable. The caesar salad didn't taste like a Caesar salad and had so much pepper in it that it was all you could taste. Not sure what has happened to this place, but would no longer recommend at 5 stars, unless you like paying for over priced steak and crab cakes with a bunch of filler. Love this place! Wish is was in a nicer location. But this is now one of my favorite local places. When you first walk in the decor and ambiance are a beautiful introduction. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and bar items. The food was incredible!!!! Beautifully plated and so delicious. The food came out quick and tasted fresh. Highly recommend this place. I plan on becoming a regular. Great spot for work gatherings, dates nights or just a night out solo. Wouldn't take my young kiddos probably. It's a mark of how good this place is that I am about to get as picky as I am here-- Drinks: Overall very good. Wine flights are well curated, though I don't think they got the order right on my German flight because the Dornfelder really ought to come last as it's the sweetest. My husband's espresso martini wasn't full to the top of the glass which is meh. Food: So painfully close to being on par with all of the Michelin bib gourmand places I go to in DC, but needs tweaks. Salad croutons were soft, flatbread crust was maybe slightly undercooked, and 4 scallops for $28? Witch, please. That said, the mushroom bisque was possibly the best I've ever had. Service: Excellent. Loved our server. She checked in on us often but not too much. Ambiance: Misses the mark ever so slightly. Remember what I said about being picky? The white wall needs to be a darker color or an interesting wallpaper to give the place a date night vibe, and they need to dim the lights by removing a couple of light fixtures on the upper level and then putting candles on the table. Mother's Day Brunch is a special occasion. I looked for a unique place, one that would make great memories. Brix27 at 131 N Queen St. Martinsburg, WV was the answer. It was my wife, Robyn, and my first time to this fine restaurant. The atmosphere is casual chic. The building an old conversion done so well that it gives you new discoveries with every glance. The seating is perfect, tables are not jammed together, everyone has ample space to enjoy their experience. Drinks from the bar are impeccably done with a discriminating flare. The wine selection is impressive. Food is what we went to enjoy and the selection for brunch was conceptionally simple verging on wonderfully decadent. We began with a Strawberry Mimosa and a Bloody Mary. Then enjoyed Deviled Eggs with select greens & teardrop peppers which were this side of heaven on a plate. Robyn enjoyed the Roasted Red Pepper Soup that she couldn't get enough of and the Baked French Toast with Berries real Maple Syrup (She knows as her brother in Maine makes his own) & a Fresh Whipped Cream to die for. I thoroughly enjoyed the Crab Cakes Benedict, yes Crab Cakes, with the best home fries I've had. While we were seated I noticed something that says everything about the food at Brix27. There is no salt, pepper, or other condiments on the table. I mentioned it to Robyn and we agreed that it meant they are so confident that their food is perfect my prepared and seasoned there is no need for addition. They are correct. Unquestionably correct. For desert, we enjoyed a Terimisu Parfait and locally roasted and supplied coffee. A perfect ending to a perfect brunch. The Service at Brix27 is exemplary. Our server, Tonya, was personable, professional, informative and provided one of the finest customer service experiences we've had in 35 years of dining together. Her conversant approach to our dining experience was perfect. In between answering our questions and taking our orders her conversation was enjoyable. It's rare to experience service that makes you feel like you're part of the family. With Tonya, our Brunch was made more enjoyable by her enthusiasm and sincere interaction with us. Never intrusive, always timely, with an impressive memory for detail, our orders were relayed and executed to perfection. Made reservations to take friends from out of town to dinner. Arrived a few minutes prior to reservation time, was immediately escorted past several open tables in the main dining area and seated in what I would describe as an overflow room. The chairs we were seated in were metal and very uncomfortable. Server was polite and made several recommendations about the menu. We placed our order, appetizers arrived quickly. Smoked Caesar salad and brussels sprouts were delicious and were a generous portion. Main course of Lamb pork chops x2 and chicken saltimbocca all were served together, but our last entrée of fillet mignon wasn't delivered to the table till 10 minutes later. When it arrived it was sliced in several pieces, and overcooked, definitely closer to medium well than what the menu listed as medium- rare. The lamb chop special was a large portion. Chops were very tender and season well, chicken saltimbocca was very dry and overcooked. Butter cream sauce that was described was non existent, little to no seasoning overall. Farro was also overcooked. The best part of the meal was the prosciutto. We asked for salt and pepper and was told by wait staff that none could be found and they would have to ask the kitchen, after an extended period of time shakers were finally delivered. We tried to order the tiramisu dessert to go and was told they couldn't accommodate that particular dessert to go. Overall we were disappointed in the entire experience and were embarrassed that we brought our close friends from out of town. We had spoke about the beautiful dining room and ambience of the restaurant to our guests prior to arriving, and then were seated the back area. We certainly didn't feel like the quality of the meal and the dining experience was worth the price. There are better options in the area. We probably will not return. It was me and my husbands anniversary today and because I'm almost 40 weeks pregnant we didn't want to drive so far so we decided to give Brix a shot and as a foodie/home chef I was so disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful, very nice looking drinks it seems but the food is bland. I ordered the braised short ribs, the meat was very tender but had 0 flavor and my whole dish was luke warm. Working in a restaurant, I already know the risotto was pre done which is fine but atleast heat it to where it's hot if it's going to come out in 6 minutes. My husband got the crab Mac & cheese as well as the beef & Swiss sliders which sounded incredible but again, 0 flavor. I was for certain there was no way you could go wrong with the dishes we chose but I was shocked. Leaving tonight it inspired me to go home and want to make these dishes but pack the flavor they ultimately deserved! Even just a little bit more salt would of helped The service was ok. I used to be a server so I really try not to be too picky about service but for the price of everything, I was expecting a little more. Kings in Falling waters gives better service for half the price. I'm not sure if it's that Martinsburg just doesn't know what good food is or the restaurant doesn't care about the taste because people come in anyway but we won't be back. The environment and staff is nice yes but us personally, if we go out to eat it's truly to enjoy the food + whole experience. This was very much lacking. read more

Good place for large groups. The thing I didn't like about the restaurant was that they don't bring the food out together. My wife received what she ordered and had actually finished eating it before my meal was even ready to be served to me. The staff was large but it was hard getting anyone to attend to us. Actually had six different people waiting on us, not the same one twice. We were the only people in the restaurant and I watched my meal being prepared from my seat. I saw the person who prepared my meal put it up under a heat lamp to be picked up and served. It took more than 10 minutes for someone to pick it up and bring it to the table. I complained about what had happened and the manager took it back and had it remade. Service was not impressive!!!! Has a nice bar and nice seating but I am not certain I would go back simply because of their policy of not serving everyone together. They bring you water in a wine bottle, I guess to make it appear like they are doing something special or fancy but in this case I think it is to avoid having to return to the table to see if anyone needs something. A little on the expensive side too. No dress code for customers or staff. I think if it were my place I would not allow my staff to wear baseball hats backwards or durags with blue jeans. We had lunch there on 12/28/2023. This was our first time there. My wife had grilled brie cheese sandwich with tomato soup. The sandwich was very good, the apricot jam was tasty. The soup was very good. I had fish tacos and fries. The fish tacos were a little disappointing. The overall taste of the taco was good. The Chipotle lime crema was delicious, the fish itself was average. The vegetables were crispy. I felt like there wasn't enough fish in the taco. The fries were crispy, very well seasoned. Our server was very attentive at first but not so much while we ate. The decor was appealing, very modern. I would go bac, but I wouldn't order the fish tacos. A table near us, ordered truffle fries, they looked delicious. I am torn on my rating. I would give 3 1/2 if that was an option but I'm sticking with a 3 based on the fish tacos and the service. I was extremely excited to come here based on the reviews, but it didn't hold up to my expectation. Waitress was nice and the place had a nice atmosphere for taking a date to enjoy wine and conversation. Food, oh goodness, I wish it was delicious, but for almost everyone stated it was so over salty that I questioned if the food was fresh. Appetizers, the table ordered calamari (got very wet and soggy so quickly), bruschetta (was crunchy, and so hard to chew. I have all my teeth so if you are sensitive to hard items, this is not for you), roasted brussels sprouts (roasted, but as if was left overs from another day due to it being so chewy.) Dinner - Crab cakes, more filling mix than crab. This dish was not salty, but then again, not much flavor either). Salmon - so very salt and I think perhaps the cook forget they salted and resalted. I like salt so for me to say salty, it was. My spouse enjoyed his braised beef with pureed sweet potato and friend was just ok with her sirloin and green beans, but stated it was really salty. Dessert - the peanut butter moose bar, so hard and needed to break it rather than cut it. The cinnamon roll - again so hard and not moist or flavorful. I am so sorry. The decaf coffee was great. Due to this being a birthday, they were so nice to take off one of the desserts. This review is based on a Tuesday night at 4pm so this may not be the right time to book a meal with this establishment or was just out of their usual. Perhaps later on in the evening or on a weekend is where the experienced cooks step in. We still had a lovely time, but I know the food is expensive wanted to give my experience in the review. We stopped in with friends on Monday, July 24th. I had been reading online about their boneless beef ribs and everything was positive so all four of us ordered it with a nice bottle of red wine. Of course, I ordered mine without the fried onions on top. Two of us ordered the grilled Caesar salads and the other two ordered the garden salad. Our waitress said we wouldn't need our knives for the beef ... and she was right! It was plated on silky mashed potatoes and topped with mushrooms. When I say it was plate licking good, my hubby said he was ready to lick his plate in public. The only reason I didn't post that here is because told him I would! Lol It didn't look like a lot of food to eat and I worried that Fred Flintsone (aka hubby) would walk away hungry. With the huge salad, it was plenty to eat and we rolled out of there without dessert. The grilled Caesar salad was ever so lightly grilled but still retained its crispness and freshness. There was plenty of shaved Parmesan cheese mixed in and the dressing was better than I make from scratch at home; and that's saying a lot! Walked in one late afternoon with a friend of mine and the immersive atmosphere was way above expectations! It's beautiful! From the entryway to the bar, to the lounge area and the open style kitchen space! This restaurant has a very calm and alluring presence. Daniel was our waiter and took exceptional care of us. I was overwhelmed by the enticing options so I asked for some recommendations and he did not miss. I got the Crabcake and the flatbread with apples, grapes, and more (it is a menu option that I also highly recommend). The portions are substantial so my friend and I ended up splitting the flatbread, and honestly the crabcake was great, but the flavors present on the flatbread was unreal.
