This is my place to pick up baconeggandcheese on a bagel, either when heading out for a ride or going to the farmers market, and yes baconeggandcheese is all one word in my book. Being a born and raised New Yorker, we know our bagels and let me tell you, these are some damn good bagels... Spotted this little gem on our way back to Long Island after the holiday weekend and I am glad we did! The bagels are made fresh daily and everything is made to order (which is great if you are a picky eater like me). I got a sesame bagel and my boyfriend got the "Van Ness Veggie" wrap which was killer... goat cheese spread - need to say no more. Friendly staff, nice ambiance, delicious coffee and GOOD bagels! How have I missed Broad Street Bagel? This is officially my new coffee shop. Granted, to get here, I have to pass at least three other places. Homemade bagels include whole-wheat-everythings. The request to scoop then toast was understood with a nod, and u got a scrumptious, crispy shell of bagel surrounding the farmer sandwich ingredients of egg, white cheddar and fresh greens. Brick walls are brought to life by tastefully few country-decor hangings and a whole wall of windows. Coffee is very good, and right now, a local dentist is treating anyone who wants one to a free small cup. (I wonder if it's an extra staining roast or something. ) read more

Bagels were awesome. Service very good. They need to change their prices from the $ to $$. The sandwiches were over $11.00 each. Worth it - Boar's Head meat and a good portion on the sandwiches. There were many choices and if it's not there, they will build you the sandwich you want. Wish we had one of these by where were live (we are from out of state). It's a bit pricey but it's so worth it. I love coming into this hipster type bagel and coffee shop. They have a really delicious ice chai latte that I love but it's $5 which seems like a lot to me since it's mostly ice so I only get this on special occasions. There's lots of options and the sandwiches are super yummy as well. My favorite gourmet cream cheese flavor is Maple Vanilla. I think the fun cream cheese flavors themselves are worth the trip. read more

The long wait is over! After a year and a half, the Calcagno's have opened Broad St. Bagels, and it has been worth the wait. A complete remodel of the store reveals the original wood floors and brick walls and makes for an inviting atmosphere to sit and have an espresso or latte while chatting with friends and neighbors. Cannot love this place enough - I live in the neighborhood and it's my goto place for breakfast and coffee. The breakfast sandwiches that have cheese on them are an alchemical experience. Fantastic food service and community support

Best bagels in the greater capital district. Located in Kinderhook about 30 minutes south of Albany, I discovered this quaint shop in a historic building on a drive back from Hudson. I don't know how they do it but their bagels are the best I've ever tried. And I've tried many. Nice breakfast and regular sandwiches as well. Really good bagels. Boiled, as they oughta, and I believe the only true bagels in this part of the county, including Hudson. Could improve: kid behind counter didn't know his nova from lox, and I had to ask someone else to see if I could get nova, not salty lox. It was good, tho not not hand-sliced, but tasty on a real bagel. Seven bucks seemed like a lot in Kinderhook. Seating could be better -- tables are too small and numerous to be comfortable, so people use extra tables. Piped in music is annoying --semi-disco garbage. Need to get one or two more people at the counter/register for Saturdays when the farmers market is happening -- line is tremendously long -- I gave up. So, a step up in quality from Bagel Tyme overall, and a very big step up bagel-quality-wise. read more

I was visiting Albany for the weekend when I stumbled on Broad Street Bagel Company. The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was so homie!! The everything bagel was everything!! The bagel was so fresh I felt guilty toasting it but with the cream cheese it was a perfect combo. They have lots of spreads to choose from but the original cream cheese did not disappoint. I even took 2 bagels to bring home with me. I definitely will be coming back here every time I visit Albany. read more

Very Quick and friendly service, great for stopping in on your way to work. The bagel I got was delicious and you can tell it's homemade. I got a blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese. I also got an iced coffee and it was VERY good. The prices aren't bad either. For what I got I paid less than $7 which I could have spent easily at another place but the quality is way different. This is our go to spot for bagels. Normally it's spot on. But lately quality has severely plummeted. Today our bagels were built with a pathetic amount of toppings. Normally you can barely bite the sandwich. Today it looked like a thin layer of mayo instead of a decent slathering of cream cheese. The other sandwich had the wrong cream cheese, missing ingredients all together and just hardly any quantity to it. This has been an issue over the last few times we have visited. We have mentioned it to the people working on hand and sadly it seems we have been ignored. I think it's time for us to go back to the other bagel place for awhile. I have never been more disappointed by a bagel shop. I ordered a bagel with lox and they asked if I wanted onion so I said yes. The ratio was about 2:1 on the onion side. There was 1 single, very thin piece of salmon on the sandwich. When I went back to discuss this with the owner he argued with me, explaining the price of lox in New York City. This is Columbia County, we are not in the city. He went on to lie about the price of a local bagel store, who is not only CHEAPER but gives you about 4X the amount of salmon. He refunded my money thankfully but decided to finish our conversation with "there's the door!" In my opinion, HIGHLY unprofessional, terse, abrupt and all in all a terrible experience. read more

Great bagel shop and I come from the home of the bagel, NYC. Good coffee and chai. I had a wonderful bacon, egg and cheese sandwich (with a fried egg not microwaved like some other local places) on a stellar everything bagel(with tons of seeds on both sides-like it's supposed to have) and a blueberry Danish. This place was incredible. Better than the last dozen NYC bagels I've tried. They nailed the texture...a little crunchy on the outside and chewy as heck on the inside. I accidentally ordered a second they were so good. Plus, people there were super friendly. It's the kind of hyper local place where everyone knows each other, but even if they don't know you, they smile at you and make you feel welcome. From the other reviews, looks like folks love the bagels. I can't report on that but steer clear of the omelette. My friend gave the feedback that it was a bad omelette and was told it's a matter of personal preference. That would honestly only be the case if you've never eaten an omelette at any other establishment anywhere in the world. I made it somewhat edible by smothering it in ketchup, since all the moisture had been cooked out of it. Latte was a let down as well. The chain feel to this place is bleh. When the individual behind the counter proceeds to stop working on your order in order to have a personal conversation with someone else BEHIND YOU in line at the counter, and then completes THEIR order BEFORE finishing yours, there's a problem! Although these bagels are some of the best I've had this far north of the city, this is the THIRD lousy customer service experience I've had there. Growing up, I (and everyone else I knew) would frequent Bagle Tyme (now replaced by Broad Street Bagel) at least once, if not twice a day (especially during the summer). I had a really bad customer experience the first time I went here. I forgot my glasses and couldn't read the tiny writing on the chalkboard menu. I asked the proprietor if he had another menu, explaining that I couldn't see the chalkboard menu. He just said no and proceeded to help another customer. I've worked my fair share of years in customer service and I was really put off by that exchange. I will say that the bagles at Broad Street Bagel are really delicious. You can tell they use quality ingredients, prepared in a fresh and non-microwaved way. The bacon-egg-cheese bagel had me hooked despite the bad customer service. Lastly, Kinderhook isn't a city- it's not even a town, it's a small village. The prices are way too high. read more
