Good selection of organic produce. Conveniently located. Really offers almost everything I need given the small space.

Just after the pandemic picked up steam in March 2020, the hours were further reduced to 8pm. Horrible.

Ok. I know it's been closed for health violations in the past -- perhaps multiple times -- and they…read morehad a lengthy standoff with the DOH last year before they reached some sort of deal to reopen. But. I still have a big soft spot in my heart for this labyrinthine, old school neighborhood grocery with surprises around every corner. Sure, the bargain fruit from the stands out front are often on their last leg (I've learned to categorically avoid). But there is also a vast selection of excellent, sometimes obscure, usually well-priced cheeses on offer, always with lots of samples. (I tried gjetost / brunost there for the first time many years ago.) There are nice olives and chocolates and jams. There's a variety of prepared foods, which aren't obnoxiously priced, though I don't think we've ever tried them. (It's almost as easy to throw together a quick meal than it is to reheat something from the store.) And I keep stumbling upon wonderful, unexpected products like date molasses, sumac, and even ramps ($44 / lb, cf $50 / lb at Citarella)! Staff are baseline kind of grumpy... but in a weirdly endearing old people sort of way, and are usually very helpful when you ask a question.

I live on the block and I only try to go when I absolutely need an essential. Every time you pick…read moresomething off the Barzini's shelves, you risk buying a product that is moldy or expired. They will occasionally have something niche that you need, particularly a spice or a cheese, but that doesn't make up for the fact that their inventory is so neglected. And if you've read any other reviews, it won't be earth-shattering to hear that the owner is rude.

Finally got a chance to have a date night at Caviar with my husband. We were blown away by…read moreeverything on the menu! Had both types of oysters, the crab cakes make you forget about LSF ( much tastier)! We both had the fried snapper... OMG we were both in heaven. We love snapper and so many of our fav restaurants stopped serving it. This is so tasty, seasoned to perfection! The dessert was also delicious, fried biscuit with berries and the vanilla ice cream did not taste like something you get on the regular! The place is beautiful and we loved the music! I knew all the songs and couldn't help singing and dancing in my seat!! The owner greeted everyone and made them feel as if they were guests in her home! GO! GO! GO!

Visited on 2/14 after hubby made reservation at the recommendation of a friend. The open table…read morereservation did not say that it is prix fixe menu for the night. We had high expectations but when the salad and the half of a deviled egg arrived I was honestly surprised. The presentation felt cheap and the portion was super small. The salad barely had any dressing. The main dish I got was lobster - good flavor but overcooked and rubbery. Tiny portion that left me wanting more food. Hubby had the steak, they did not give option how you would like it and it arrived medium/well done. The portions were so tiny I was still hungry, for the price I honestly wish we went to omakase instead. Oh. And they automatically add 25% service. Owner is very friendly and service was polite but for the price it felt like we got robbed. Not sure we'll be back, really wanted to like it but the only memorable thing was the music and ambience. I felt compelled to review because I really wanted the owners to see this and make changes. The potential is there but with many restaurants around, there simply wasn't anything special. Pls be transparent to your guests and include info about prix fixe menu on reservation next time, and perhaps give your guests more value for the money. $150 should at least be 4-5 course for the size that was provided.. I'm so sad that we didn't like it bc we live so close :(
