    Swedish hash with smoked trout
    John C.

A really neat Swedish brunch spot located conveniently in the Hood River Hotel lobby. The old school fireplace creates a really cozy vibe. Note it could get busy on the weekends and service may get backed up, leave extra time if needed. The menu consists of traditional Swedish dishes. Highlights include: the Danish pancakes and smoked trout. The pancakes were super soft and paired perfectly with the maple syrup. For protein choice definitely go for the trout; it's smoked really well and the saltiness goes well with everything. Overall a great brunch spot, we'd recommend!

Wow, absolutely fabulous Swedish breakfast/lunch spot! My husband and I came here for the first time last month after we picked up our marriage license and were delighted at our experience at Broder Øst! The service was efficient and friendly as well as helpful! When we came back with my youngest brother our server recommended the breakfast sandwich with a potato pancake side to put inside it and it was phenomenal! He said it's the best breakfast sandwich he's had! The ambiance is cozy Scandinavian (Hygge!). We had such a nice meal that we made sure to come back before leaving town after our wedding! We recommended it to all of our friends and family who were in town for our wedding as well!

Food was good! We drove here to check out the area and my cousin recommended this restaurant. It took quite some time to just put our name down for seating (they dont have a lot of servers) and then about an hour before being seated. We were warned about their slowness so we walked around and went shopping until being called to come in. Probably wouldn't go back but happy we got to go. Our server was very nice.

The best breakfast experience I had during my trip to Colombia river gorge. This place is cozy and stylish and serves an amazing Swedish food. I had a Swedish breakfast board and loved every element of it. Rye bread, cheese, smoked trout and not too sweet granola yogurt- everything right to my taste! My husband loved his Swedish hash on a cute skillet as well. Service was friendly but took a little while for food to get to our table. Nice place to have breakfast or brunch if you are in Hood River.

Nordic Pancake balls served with Lingonberry compote and lemon curd!

The staff are amazing, beyond helpful, friendly! The food was some of the best I've ever had! By far the best experience I've had out of town!

I love Broder back in Portland and I was super excited to try this place. It has the cutest setup and each table is thoughtfully set. The food was excellent as always and it was so cozy on a cold rainy day. I highly recommend. Probably not for picky eaters but definitely for anyone with actual taste

So goood!!!!!!!!!!! Started off with a dirty chai for me (one of the most spectacular dirty chais I've ever had.---) Wife had a hot chocolate (with a bonus shot of espresso) topped with whipped cream. 10/10 presentation --- 11/10 taste & vibez. We shared the hot dog/ veggie hash/ pancakes----- not what I was expecting, but also spectacularly excellent!!!! Great vibe over here, would strongly recommend if you're in the hood river area!!!!

Great find on Hood River. Tiny little place that is connected to a historic hotel right in town. The menu is a bit small but lovely authentic Swedish dishes. We sat out front at a little table and enjoyed people watching. We had a bit of a wait but it was busy. The food was vey good. Had Swedish meatballs and a hot dog with some different toppings . It was all very good.

OMG!! I was so excited to try this place and I was NOT disappointed! I am Norwegian and my husband is Swedish. When looking for places to eat here in Hood River I found this place and because of our heritage we had to try it. I had the Lefse, (Norwegian crepe) with chèvre and a salad. I added the Lingonberry jam. It came with a perfectly dressed salad and an egg over easy. He got the Swedish Board it was amazing! Came with Chèvre, fruit, 2 cheeses, pickles, ham, and more. He loved his and we are still talking about it! The coffee was good and they bring warm frothed milk! The interior is super cute and clean. The server was so nice!! I can't say enough good about it! Hopeful to eat there again before we go home. Don't miss this place if you're in Hood River!

Absolutely incredible. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, but the waitstaff was beyond impressive. We had the hash, bacon and eggs, and shared the pancakes. My father is older and doesn't hear very well, and our server was so sweet and gentle with him. It really warmed my heart and made us all feel at home. Can't wait to return

Wow! Conveniently located downtown with outdoor seating. Friendly service. The food was excellent. We got the porridge, lost eggs, and breakfast sandwich. All were very unique and delicious. Especially the porridge with the cardamom milk! Delicious.

We arrived 12:20ish on a Saturday and put our name down for a party of 3. We were seated 15 min later. Of what we ordered, we really enjoyed the danish pancakes. We wish we had ordered the full order instead of half. The lefse was also really good as well as the baked egg scramble. It was a nice cozy vibe inside the restaurant. I was glad I didn't have to raise my voice at all to be heard. It's adjacent to a hotel, which provides for a nice waiting area.

What a charming little spot with amazing food and friendly service. Definitely worth the stop on a rainy day in Hood River. I would love to recreate some of these flavors at home. I can't wait to go back and try some of the savory dishes. Loved the decor, too.

To say that the restaurant did a great job with our party is an understatement. A huge thank you to the amazing staff who served our group and made our celebration both effortless and delicious! Now a few comments on the food. Seriously, don't skip the pastries here since they're incredible. Since this was a party, I ordered trays of pastries for the group and got to try some of everything, including their enormous cinnamon rolls, maple bars, and fruit danish. All were the best I've ever had, although I had a special addiction to the maple bars. From there, our large group was able to order off their extensive regular menu. Every plate was gigantic and apparently very good (based on the appearance of our table at the end). I had their Crab Benedict which featured real crab drowning in tasty Hollandaise sauce. Bette's Place deserves all accolades. I'll remember our brunch there always.

The service was welcoming and very attentive. I got the vegetarian omelette with hash browns and a pancake. It was quite a large portion, especially with the full sized pancake as a side. The pancake was pillowy, buttery, and soaked up the provided warm maple syrup in the most amazing way. I had a couple bites croissant breakfast sandwich, which was also delicious and flavorful.

You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The dining space is bright with tons of seating. I love that they make their own bread!! It's super soft and such a nice touch. I usually go with the turkey which has turkey, white cheddar, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, and hot mustard. It was a bit spicier than I would have liked, not that it was too hot, but that flavor was really dominant for me so I'd probably modify it a bit in the future or just build my own . My daughter loved her ham sandwich which comes with sprouts, avocado, and cucumber. My husband also really liked his Italian and their clam chowder. Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. Since there's no free breakfast offered by the hotel, they give you vouchers for the restaurant, so you can get a pretty good deal on a meal.

The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision. All in all, a good experience, just expect to pay a little more if you are going to shop or eat there!
