Update: My wife and I decided to give the Meridian BY another try. It is Monday, President's Day. We came about 11 am. The place was very crowded. As I mentioned previously, I was a patron of the flagship BY in Pacific Beach, having grown up and spent most of my life in San Diego. We were sat at a booth right away, which we liked. Our server, Tyler, was a very friendly guy. He was also very busy. He was covering tables all over the restaurant. He took our order, and had to come back later to tell us what we already knew: our food was taking longer than usual to come out. My wife had her usual eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast. You can't go too wrong with that. I ordered the chorizo and eggs with corn tortillas. The chorizo seemed to be in chunks within the eggs, so that you could get a bit of eggs with no chorizo. I like mine mixed up well in the eggs, and that is what I'm used to. The Mexican rice was dry but the refried beans were good. The corn tortillas seemed like raw tortillas barely steamed and only lukewarm. Not appetizing. So, kudos to Tyler for being a nice and hardworking guy. Otherwise, this BY does not remind me of my experiences in the San Diego locations. The food is not impressive and as I said in my previous review, there are so many other cool places to enjoy breakfast in the Treasure Valley. read more

Forgot to get a picture of our food but it was so good!! The portions for brunch were spot on and we joined the waitlist on here so we didn't have to wait at the restaurant. I was told to come here by a friend and I am so glad we did. I will absolutely come back! I had the hash skillet and it was good but I wish they put more hash on it. The Bloody Mary flight was also good, but they took the menu and didn't explain them or let us know which was which. Probably won't get that again. read more

The hubs and I went in about 10:00 on a Tuesday, so plenty of open tables and we were seated immediately. The server came with waters and asked us about other drinks quickly. As this was our first time time here, we needed some time to look over the menus. During that time our server came by a couple times and made sure we didn't have any questions and refilled coffees. Not long after we placed our order, it started to get busier. But even with more tables our server was around often and making sure we had everything we needed. The four star is because of the food. I got an omelette with home fries and a biscuit. The biscuits are fabulous! Thick, fluffy, and tastes delicious. The home fries, however, were limp and oily. The few crispier ones were all that I could eat. My omelette came with bacon inside, but the bacon was 'real' bacon bits warmed up and dumped into the omelette completely overpowering the mushrooms and tomatoes. My husband got the Monte Cristo and loved it, highly recommend. There was plenty of ham and really delicious raspberry jam to pour over the sandwich. When we return, which we will, I will try the biscuits and gravy and hope the gravy can stand next to the biscuits! read more

This was my second visit to he location. My first visit was just so-so but we were starving due to having to fast for labs and Broken Yolk was near the lab draw facility. We had to wait to be seated as the hostess was feverishly trying to set up multiple tables by herself for a large party; it was a little uncomfortable to watch her trying so hard whilst many co-workers stood by as she was setting up everything up. We were finally seated and quickly received service. This feels like an IHOP inside almost...just a standard breakfast place motif. I ordered the Rancher omelet with home fries and an English muffin. Husband ordered a pancake short stack. Food came out relatively quickly and looked visibly delicious for the most part. The Rancher is full of bacon, homefries, green bell peppers, tomatoes, green onions and topped with sour cream. It was very dry and was overwhelmingly full of green peppers to the point that I couldn't even taste bacon. The omelet is begging for some cheddar cheese inside. I could only manage to eat half of it, after dousing it in ketchup. The home fries were barely cooked and woefully under seasoned. I would have loved to taste a roasted onion flavor with a crispy outside to these potatoes...none of which was found. The highlight was the English muffin which was delightfully toasted, fluffy and quite delicious. Thankfully hubby gave me more butter for the English muffin off his pancakes which elevated it to buttery. His pancakes looked amazing...fluffy, golden and hot...but they tasted like they were tangy? Almost like the buttermilk was "sourer" or something. He thought they were "fine" but couldn't finish them. It was $30 for our meals, without drinks. I would say for that amount the food should be good enough to come back. This place will not be a place we will seek out, unfortunately. There are some amazing breakfast and brunch options at a lower price point. Service was very friendly and attentive, which is why I felt bad giving Broken Yolk Cafe anything less than 3 stars. read more

5 Stars for Esmeralda, 4 Stars for ambiance, 3 Stars for our food. My two kids and I got Eggs and Bacon and my kids got a (tiny) side of Fruit. Our server, Esmeralda was awesome! So kind and attentive and great with my kids! We wanted a healthy but no cook and clean breakfast this morning. The eggs were all a little overcooked and dry. Our total came to $26 which seemed a little high considering all together we had, 5 eggs, 5 pieces of bacon, 1 piece of sausage and 2 tiny sides of fruit. Gave this place another shot. Ordered biscuits and gravy for carry out. Picked up order, got home, no biscuit. So it was just gravy and sides. Not worth the time and gas (at current rates) to go back. Just won't be ordering from this business anymore. Thought things would be better after our first experience a couple of years ago. The breakfast was very good. They serve very generous portions and love the coffee is not diluted as other restaurants seem to do to save money . I also enjoy the light and bright ambience brought in by the huge amount of windows . However it took too long for server to take our order and even longer to receive our food. Took about 40 min from entry to receiving food to our table. Perhaps they need more help in the kitchen . Unfortunately, I may not return because of this reason alone. read more

We were looking for a brunch spot and came across this on Google. Decided to give it a try and so happy we did! We had roughly a 20 minute wait to be seated, well worth it. The atmosphere is fantastic, service from the host to our server was superb. Esmeralda was our server and she was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. They were busy, but we never felt like the staff was anything but hospitable. The food was delicious and the portions are huge. The Bloody Mary was great, it is spicy for those who don't like much spice. We look forward to trying the mimosas next time. We will definitely be back! read more

I like the brightness of this place, the service was good our server was very nice she gives us plenty of time to look at thx menu. The coffee was hot and tasted fresh loved that they have flavored creamers and they have an expresso machine. I order the chilaquiles w chicken and the green salsa was actually good not spicy lots of good flavor. But to me they aren't really chilaquiles it's like chips with salsa on top and 2 eggs w meat. I also order one single French toast and wow they had the perfect amount of sweetness. The bathroom was clean and they had a changing table in the bathroom which it's great. Jessica our "barista / server" at the counter this early afternoon...01:15 PM was kind, courteous and efficient. She took our orders, kept the coffee for my bride hot and fresh as well my water glass full. Upon arriving we were informed there was a 25 to 30 minute wait for food to be served and we elected to sit at the counter, ordering within 5 minutes and requested over medium eggs, wiggly bacon, fresh fruit (asking if it was sweet ) and assured it was, and a biscuit . I ordered the Meat lovers omelette with an english muffin ( burnt please with butter and honey ) and refried beans. 45 minutes later, after watching an omelette sitting under the heat lamp for quite a while; we asked how do you know when our order is "up", because at the counter, our sever / barista was responsible for special coffee drinks, mimosas, etc etc etc. We were told the staff hanging out in front of the cooks station brings the meals out when ready. 50 minutes after ordering, our meals arrived. The over medium eggs arrived cold and over EASY. the bacon was well done and cold. The fruit was tasteless; however the biscuit was quite nice---after having to request butter that was not included. The omelette was the same one "homesteading " on the counter, cold...the english muffin was NOT burnt and without being buttered. The refried beans were cold as well. We assured Jessica that we understood the lack of quality control was beyond her control. When she informed the 30 something floor manager about our disappointment, he came over and said "yes we have been extremely busy as well the cooks are new." Fade to black---that was all he did. For anyone out there looking for a great place to drop $45 on brunch for two (without having special coffee drinks or alcohol ) and you expect good tasteful "hot served" food...do NOT visit the Broken Yolk. In the same (S/E) corner of 10 mile and McMillan there is a "Griddles" restaurant that does a great job. We could only find parking near the Broken (promise) Yolk...so we gambled and lost. I have now visited Broken Yolk Cafe 5 times over the last 2 months. During my 1st visit, I met Steve, the owner of BYC. He was really friendly and engaging. Throughout my visit, I could see Steve working hard doing everything from helping wipe down tables to running food to tables when his servers are busy. You can tell that he really takes a lot of pride in his business and cares about his employees. He even limits their number of tables during busy periods to allow the wait staff to focus on the needs of the table and not be stretched too thin. Now to the food! OMG, it makes me hungry to even think about it. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich. It's a new item on their menu and is absolutely delicious! It has a fluffy scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, and a chipotle mayo. It also comes with a side of hash browns or breakfast potatoes. I order mine without the mayo and it's not dry at all. The egg is always perfectly cooked and so fluffy. I also order mine with extra crispy bacon and hash browns. It hits the spot every single time! We also tend to order French toast for the table so we have the sweet and savory element. The French toast is also absolutely delicious. My husband and friends that have gone with us have gotten different egg Bennie's, pancakes, and omelettes and they have all never complained about anything. I don't drink, but they have a pretty cool mimosa variety and non alcoholic flavored drinks. They even have different Red Bull flavors. The last time we went, one of our friends ended up ordering 3 of the Red Bull drinks including getting one to go. Pricing is totally reasonable and they even have a way to check in online ahead of heading over that shows you how many people are ahead of you and what their party size is. If you check in online, you get text message updates about how quickly you are moving up the list and when your table is ready. BYC has become my new favorite spot for the perfect breakfast or brunch. I recommend checking them out! read more

We just got sat down and the waitress said she would be just a sec. No problem. Then she proceeded to clear someone else's table, took the bill to a different table, got more coffee for an another table then was getting drinks for yet another table. I went to the bathroom and came back before she even got us water or coffee. Meanwhile 2 new tables came in different stations and had their water and coffee before we were even greeted at our table. 10 minutes we waited before I asked for some service. Then we were lectured by our waitress for requesting that service. Still in shock about getting a lecture. We're not going back and was a favorite since we drove from Nampa. This place was a serendipitous discovery!!! Looking for a local "new" brekky spot, this got some pretty great reviews so we wanted to check it out and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!! It was bustlin so I highly recommend putting your name down before you arrive...but let me tell you..!!! It is worth the wait even if you walk in! We ordered the stuffed French toast and meat lovers skillet... 10/10 5 STAR!!! Service was friendly and very helpful. We did walk in so our wait time was 30 min on a Sunday around 11:30am. So we stopped in to say goodbye to our sweet Maria and have lunch before moving to Nevada. I had found a song by Santana, and just had to share (Maria Maria). Crispy chicken sandwich (chicken breast new menu) with onion rings I ordered, and hubby tried the tuna melt on sourdough with fries. Everything was served hot and it was delicious (though we're seniors and only ate half bringing the rest home.) She always smiles and is happy to see us. She keeps our water glasses full! Although this turned out to be the most expensive breakfast my wife and I have had in a long time, it was delicious. I had the mile high omelette with potatoes and an English muffin. She had the tiki toast and added a side of potatoes instead of eggs. Each of our meals were prepared quickly and delivered with a highly attentive touch. Coffee cup stayed full. Water carafe was left on the table to make sure we stayed hydrated. All in all, we'll be back...just not too often. $39 + tip is a little above average but no complaints. read more

In one word: awful. The service was okay. But the food? I'm one to leave very gracious compliments, but I have to point these problems out too. I ordered the Border Benedict. So I'm expecting poached eggs, not hard-boiled to the point where they're inedible. Unseasoned home fries. And it's advertised as spicy. I couldn't make it more bland if I dumped a pound of flour on it. I left a nice tip, but spending $62 on food I couldn't even take more than 4 bites of always sucks. read more

Been here now a few times and every time we have enjoyed it. I would highly suggest doing there call ahead seating because on the weekend this place gets very busy. We checked in on line and said our wait would be about 45 mins. Also my to the minute we got an alert and once inside got seated right away. Inside this place is very clean and modern updates with lots of seating. What made this last experience even better was our outstanding service we received. Despite being totally packed all the staff was buzzing around with smiles and getting everyone what they needed. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I had the chorizo skillet with over easy eggs. Very hearty meal and had great flavors. Depending on where we are at in town this will for sure be on the list for breakfast or lunch. read more

I got the sopes Benedict and was disappointed. Lacked tons of flavor on the sope and the meat part. Every bite taste watery...not what you want to taste when eating meat. I would give it a 5/10. Super bummed out. We also ordered the western bacon burger with sweet potato fries. This was 8/10. Finally the sample trio and the only good part was the French toast. We made the mistake of going on a Sunday afternoon for Brunch but thought by 1pm we would be good. They quoted a 20 minute wait and after 20 minutes we went back in to ask how much longer it would be and they sat us. It gives old diner feel inside with a bar that you can eat at, blue booths and tables in the middle of the restaurant. We each ordered a flight of drinks and our food right away because we were starving! There were quite a few good menu options even for me who is Gluten Free! The food came fast! Faster then our drinks! Everyone enjoyed their dishes and we sipped on our flights afterwards. The server was good and I could tell they were struggling to keep up with the demand.
