I had such high hopes for this place since we have them out in California and they're amazing. The service is awful. When asking for a booth we got ignored. We asked again for one before we got our food and we still got ignored. The waiter must have got annoyed because her whole demeanor changed from happy to serious. The chicken: crispy on the outside and a little dry on the inside, overall tasty. The waffles and sausages were delicious as they should be as were the scrambled eggs. We arrived with a pup, so we were told our table on the empty patio would be ready in 15 minutes (weird). We were called in and seated on the still empty patio 40 minutes later. I was ready to blow a fuse but kept a grip and remained polite. The meal was in equal parts okay and terrible. The steak was good. The fruit accompanying it was disgraceful. The grapes in the fruit bowl consisted of a single stalk, mostly picked clean, leaving a few small, old, shriveled, gross grapes that were immediately discarded. The rest of the fruit was meh at best. The biscuits in gravy were repulsive. The biscuits were a relic, dry to the point of dusty and tasting like the desert. The gravy was tasteless except for the overwhelming flavor of Italian herbs. Inedible doesn't begin to describe. I wouldn't herb a pasta with this much gusto. The corned beef hash bowl was okay, but undermined by a bed of potato discs that were either burned or uncooked. We were either crunching on raw potato or cremated potato remains. Someone please explain the science behind this. Coffee was very good. Pancake was okay. At well over $70 for breakfast, I will not be returning to the Broken Yolk. Expensive breakfast places are a dime a dozen and we are spoiled for choice, so, no thank you. read more
