We decided to have dinner on a Thursday and had a great family-friendly experience. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, who invited our toddler to spin the prize wheel. She won a little toy car and was absolutely ecstatic! We were then shown to our table, where our daughter was given a kids' menu and crayons to keep her entertained. The dining area was a bit chilly because the fans were running at full blast, but after I mentioned it to our waitress, she quickly took care of the issue. Our drinks and food arrived promptly. Unfortunately, they had run out of the hot link sausage, so I opted for the cheddar sausage instead. Even with the substitution, my brisket and sausage were cooked to perfection. The only disappointment was the grilled pineapple, which was a little firm and seemed underripe. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The portion was generous, but it was so good that he finished every bite and left completely satisfied. Our daughter, who is usually a very picky eater, happily ate her cheeseburger and fries. To top it off, she was treated to a complimentary ice cream cone, which made her day. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the thoughtful touches for children made this a wonderful place for families. We'll definitely be back. read more

I ordered the burnt ends, brisket, and rib tips. Unfortunately, all three were pretty dry. I had my friends try them as well and they agreed. I asked the bartender if the meat is normally that dry, and she said no and that I should have told her sooner. To her credit, she offered to remake the burnt ends, and the new batch came out much better--hot and juicy. It did make me wonder if the first plate might have been sitting around for a while. Overall, it was a decent meal but nothing particularly memorable. I'm still on the hunt for a really good BBQ spot around here--haven't found anything close to what you can get in San Diego. read more

This was not my place of choice but the relatives picked this place prior to their son's graduation. We were seated quickly as it was 1:30pm No negatives on the people that served as she/they were attentive. I ordered off the lunch special that had brisket and a half barbecue white meat chicken and a pineapple spear. Both meats were pretty average and the pineapple spear which is something different to try and was okay. My wife had a chicken sandwich, and she mentioned that the chicken seemed to be reheated to the point it wasn't that flavorful. My son also mentioned his chicken sandwich wasn't appeasing to him either. Being from San Diego, there's a lot of mom and pops great barbecue places that made famous Dave's meal today not stand out and not even in the same league. We came in today around noon (a group of three) and got sat right away in Roxie's section. She was absolutely spectacular. Very informative and knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. I got the 4 bones with Mac and cheese and cornbread. My husband got the 3 meat combo. And my best friend got the Cajun chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious, fresh and piping hot. I also ended up getting the bread pudding. Now I'm not a raisin fan at all but there's definitely a reason why their bread pudding is world famous. It was simply divine. My experience this time around was not my favorite. The staff were very friendly, but the food was subpar. I ordered the Rib-N-Meat combo with a ribs, brisket, salad and green beans. First they are limited on the salad dressings they have. Then I get my plate and I have ribs and pitiful looking chicken fingers instead of my brisket. They did immediately bring me the brisket. The brisket was ok and the ribs had pretty good flavor. The green beans not so much. I wasn't too happy overall with my meal. The mood and ambience is very causal. There's an industrial rustic farmer vibe inside. Lots of seating. What was cool was that we ordered the three meat meal, and thought it was going to be the dinner price, but the lunch price was much less! It was a great way to share foods amongst us and to try different meats. The plate automatically includes a cornbread, which is not on the menu! They serve Pepsi products. As a person that travels a lot, I have eaten at a lot of Famous Dave's. Despite there only being a few people at booths, it took forever for the waitress to even come to my table. So much so that the Hostess eventually came over and took my drink order and brought it to me. I ordered 6 bones of ribs with Mac N Cheese and fries for sides. The ribs were terrible, loaded with fat and bone chips. I'm pretty sure these were boiled and just coated with sauce, and absolutely loaded with pepper. Mac n Cheese was very dry. Wedge fries were undercooked and cold. Waitress was inattentive for the entire visit. This was hands down, the worst experience I've ever had at any Famous Dave's location. I got beef brisket, fries, corn and side of coleslaw. My girlfriend got a salad. The girl was friendly, but not concerned about offering us exactly what we wanted to eat. I'm gluten-free and I said I didn't want the corn muffin. The meat was laying on top of a piece of thick bread that usually is used for French toast in the morning. It wasn't. I got the corn muffin, but I didn't get the coleslaw. I am gluten-free and very sensitive to wheat. I had to take medicine later to relieve the pain from having the bread on the plate. The salad was really small that my girlfriend got it was like a side garden salad with meat on it and a corn muffin. She said the muffins were were dry, and I gave her my buttercup that was delivered with my corn on the cob. Nothing special about their barbecue garden salad. I would never go to this place again. Nice Clean restrooms. Food was fresh and tender. We ordered The Famous Feast For Two. Comes with three Meats. We went for the Ribs and Double Orders of The Tender, Juicy Brisket. The sides we asked for were Mac & Cheese, Wilber Beans, Steak Fries, Sweet Cornbread, and Corn on The Cob. All comes on a big Platter Family Style. Everything was with Sauce on the side. Didn't go for the big platter. As I wanted wings and macaroni and cheese. The Jalepeno sausage was dry. I took the wings home and ate it the next day, it was good. The 2 sides that I chose was salad and macaroni and cheese. The salad was the best I've ever had than any other restaurant as a side. Good size and kinda filled me up. However. The Mac and cheese disappointed me so much! It had corn in it. So I was pretty bummed about that. Other than that. My husband loved his cat fish. And everything else he ordered. It's one of his favorite places. So I know we will be going back. I just won't order the Mac and cheese again... or the cheddar Jalepeno sausage Service was good too. The bartender come over within a few minutes and took my drink order and pretty much Right away took my food order. My meal came out within a few more minutes and bartender asked if I needed anything to which I said not at the moment. I continue to eat and my drink ran out. At which point there was nobody anywhere near the bar or bar area. Several minutes went past until the bartender returned and asked me if I'd like another drink to which she handed me a drink and brought me my check pretty quickly. It's obvious this place needs a facelift and some good training. The bar was sticky everything stuck to the bar I couldn't move my drink. Came here for Father's Day dinner. Great service from our waiter. He was on it. The sides were delicious! Cornbread, coleslaw, Wilbur beans, and fries. Chicken was good. Ribs were tough but I assume it may have been due to the Father's Day lunch rush. I asked for moist brisket, it was dry. The table we sat at was sticky. The seat was wet and required several towels to dry. We watched staff pass over and by a bunch of garbage from a table on the floor before we notified the manager and they cleaned it up.
