We just love Brookfields! This visit our server was Sachae. She made all the difference in the world, bringing the rating up to five stars instead of four. Sachae anticipated our needs and checked back on us several times, even though her section filled up quickly keeping her quite busy. The food was very good. The Asian salad that used to be served with mandarin oranges is now served with mango chunks instead. This seems pretty unique, and it's very good. Everything else was very good as well. The place still rocks that nostalgic vibe that makes me so happy. I get to take a stroll down memory lane every visit. And I think it's safe to say I'll be strolling down that lane many more times in the future! read more

Came in on Friday July 10 about 11:15 AM. My friend got the chicken fried steak breakfast, and I got the lunch special which was teriyaki chicken over steamed veggies and rice. The good: the service was excellent. I didn't feel like we waited for anything and I didn't feel like they were always there. The chicken fried steak was excellent and quite a lot of food. The teriyaki chicken itself was good and the rice was good. The bad: the vegetables which came underneath the teriyaki chicken seemed like they had been steamed in a microwave. They had an odd texture. It was a minor thing, but it was something I noticed so I'm including it in this review. Prices were a little higher than I expected, $22 for chicken fried steak? The ugly: N/A It's rare that I come to these particular restaurants and I don't order chicken fried steak or corned beef hash plates because I feel that's where their strength lies. But I was in the mood for lunch so I tried it. It was good, but I still think their breakfast menu is where they excel. What a great find in Sacramento. If you're looking for a great family friendly atmosphere, casual American food that is made in house and tastes great this is the place. The staff is so friendly and down to earth. The menu has something for everyone. I was hesitant to get the seafood platter but it was so good and the cornbread was heavenly. Perfectly moist with just the right amt of sweetness. . Everything was fresh, the shrimp prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. They have a wonderful dessert menu with everything made in house. Another fantastic breakfast meal - so tasty and satisfying! Host seated us promptly as we entered. Ambiance is always casual and chill. Our food came out relatively quick as well. Temperature of the food was perfect and everything tasted so fresh. Hubby ordered his usual Denver omelet and I enjoyed the Newport Beach omelet. Our server was pleasant and efficient, as we were in a bit of hurry this morning. Portions are huge and I could never finish whole thing so I had to ask for to-go container. Five stars just because they have the best eggs Benedict ! Every time we come it is for the the california eggs Benedict ! Theyre the best! Their special for Father's Day was the crab eggs Benedict and we were not fans of it . The crab made the bread soggy . I got the blue cheese steak salad and it was okay nothing special. My hubs and I have probably been to all the locations in the Sac area and almost each time we go, we get their cinnamon roll. This time around, the cinnamon roll was a little dry. I actually had to take it back. However, the homemade cheesecake with boysenberry compote was delish! Clean friendly staff with food that tastes like comfort food. I had a French dip with a side salad. Dressing is made in house and tastes like what ranch used to taste like. It was very good. My French dip was made to my preference and the waiter was attentive but not overly intrusive. We own a vacation home in Lake Tahoe. We travel there about every three weeks during the year when weather allows. We always stop at Brookfields on the way there and on our way back as it is right off Highway 80. We have never once had bad service, a bad meal or any type of negative experience there. It is clean, the meals come quickly and all seems to be homemade and not in anyway prepared early and just warmed up. My only suggestion is that they include hash browns with their breakfast as I love them, so I avoid getting breakfast there for that reason. read more

Was looking for some breakfast close by and stopped by here. The food was good, I got the California Benedict and my Husband got the French dip. The French dip was loaded with meat and the meat wasn't dry at all. Perfectly cooked. My eggs were perfectly poached but the bacon on it just seemed like too much, but was still yummy. My only complaint was that the potatoes and fries were lukewarm at best, and their ranch didn't seem like it was made in house. Always love Brookfield's at Madison Ave. One of my favorite restaurants with a great menu. This time was for lunch with the Balsamic Salmon. Substituted the spinach for brown rice and mashed potatoes. With corn bread and raspberry tea, the food was amazing! Salmon was nicely grilled and delicious. Service here has always been great too. Food - I had the oatmeal. It was A Lot of food so be aware. If you like a lot of brown sugar you may need to ask for another scoop. It wasn't bad. My husband ordered the French Dip. The French fries were pretty tasty. They weren't greasy or undercooked. The sandwich was stacked with meat. We had to ask for refills on our drinks. Service - it was ok. I think she may have been working most of the tables. It wasn't busy but steady. She was get to the point; not a lot of small talk. Ambiance - it is decorated with the history of the restaurant. I came here with my mom after one of her Dr's appointments. This particular appointment was emotionally draining and we just wanted to go somewhere where we can unwind with a good home cooked meal. Although we've been here many times, we've never been here together. It was funny because when we approached it on the freeway, we both said "Ooh! Lets go there!" I'm so glad we decided this. We were both craving breakfast so we got the pancakes. From the moment we walked in, it was a very welcoming environment. We were met with a smile, and taken to our seats immediately. The waitress came to our table, took our drink orders, and came back in a timely manner to take our food order. Our juice was so fresh! We ordered coffee as well, and the waitress came to refill it as needed. While we waited for our food, we looked at the menu and noticed the daily specials. We cannot wait to come back on any given day and try one of the delicious looking meals! When our food came, everything was amazing. Hot and fresh! We couldn't have asked for a better breakfast. From the service, to the environment, it was a great experience to have after a tiring Dr's appt. There is nothing more I could have asked for to make our experience better. read more

We went with a party of six and were quickly seated. The waitress was super fast at getting coffees and water for those who requested it. She took our orders on filling our drinks and returned in what seemed like minutes with food. I didn't like the hashbrown potato patty as it was over crispy, but the fried potatoes were perfect. I had an over easy egg that was spot on. The yolk was dunkable as I love it for my toast and it was a really large yolk. My plate had a side of grapes, too. Just delicious. There were no complaints from anyone about their meals. Service was cheerful and fast. The general feeling in the restaurant was convivial and very uplifting. Mild soft rock was playing. The food here has always consistently good tasty and fresh. Service has been quick, accurate and friendly. We have been coming to Brookfield restaurants since the 90s. Breakfast has been nice and hot every time. Their blueberry scones are so delicious. The Asian Chicken Salad is good, too. An Asian salad is only good if it has a great Asian dressing. This one is great. I've had sandwiches, Mexican food and more. It's been a place we really enjoy. Baked good are fantastic. We've been to two locations, Sacramento & Rancho Cordova. Stopped in here today for the first time and wanted breakfast. I ordered the sweet potato pancakes. It came with eggs, bacon and sausage. I like my eggs in between medium and hard but never ask. So I ordered them medium and they came out exactly how I like them! That literally never happens. I ordered my bacon crispy and it was perfect! The pancakes were absolutely delicious. Disclaimer: I rarely do these I've been in the area for 7 years now - I've come here off and on (It's within walking distance). I recently had a bad experience - the fork at my table was dirty (there was clearly an orange piece of something stuck to it - it came wrapped in the napkin so somebody somewhere wasn't really looking). Then the waiter delivered my water and said there was something in it...so it was promptly taken away and replaced (I'm glad it was caught by the waiter but....man). Finally - the food was fine (I got a benedict variant) but the country potatoes weren't seasoned (like at all - the ones that had any seasoning were very apparent because you could see the specks) and they were also undercooked (A bit firm). The bacon wasn't on the side either - it was placed under the eggs and the momay sauce? Is that normal? It was still fine I just thought that was weird. For $26 before tip it just didn't seem worth it. I can 't imagine coming here with one other person and paying $50+ - there's a Denny's across Madison that might match this experience with a lower overall cost. I also know it's a chain - I think I've seen the Sysco/US Foods trunks completing deliveries to Brookfield's (Correct me if I'm wrong). It's fine - you know what you're getting - but it's not fresh food that's locally sourced. I haven't been to Cricket's in a while - I'll give them a try next. read more
