What a great find in Sacramento. If you're looking for a great family friendly atmosphere, casual American food that is made in house and tastes great this is the place. Ohhh dear sweet Brookfields, I hate to give you a three but I must admit, what I love most about you, which is your homemade cinnamon roll, was a BUST. My hubs and I have probably been to all the locations in the Sac area and almost each time we go, we get their cinnamon roll. This time around, the cinnamon roll was a little dry. I actually had to take it back. However, the homemade cheesecake with boysenberry compote was delish! Always love Brookfield's at Madison Ave. One of my favorite restaurants with a great menu. This time was for lunch with the Balsamic Salmon. Substituted the spinach for brown rice and mashed potatoes. With corn bread and raspberry tea, the food was amazing! Salmon was nicely grilled and delicious. Service here has always been great too. Was looking for some breakfast close by and stopped by here. The food was good, I got the California Benedict and my Husband got the French dip. The French dip was loaded with meat and the meat wasn't dry at all. Perfectly cooked. My eggs were perfectly poached but the bacon on it just seemed like too much, but was still yummy. My only complaint was that the potatoes and fries were lukewarm at best, and their ranch didn't seem like it was made in house. But still not a terrible experience and we will most likely be back in the future! read more

I came here with my mom after one of her Dr's appointments. This particular appointment was emotionally draining and we just wanted to go somewhere where we can unwind with a good home cooked meal. Although we've been here many times, we've never been here together. It was funny because when we approached it on the freeway, we both said "Ooh! Lets go there!" I'm so glad we decided this. We were both craving breakfast so we got the pancakes. From the moment we walked in, it was a very welcoming environment. We were met with a smile, and taken to our seats immediately. The waitress came to our table, took our drink orders, and came back in a timely manner to take our food order. Our juice was so fresh! We ordered coffee as well, and the waitress came to refill it as needed. While we waited for our food, we looked at the menu and noticed the daily specials. We cannot wait to come back on any given day and try one of the delicious looking meals! When our food came, everything was amazing. Hot and fresh! We couldn't have asked for a better breakfast. The French fries were pretty tasty. They weren't greasy or undercooked. The sandwich was stacked with meat. We had to ask for refills on our drinks. Service - it was ok. The food here has always consistently good tasty and fresh. Service has been quick, accurate and friendly. We have been coming to Brookfield restaurants since the 90s. Breakfast has been nice and hot every time. Their blueberry scones are so delicious. The Asian Chicken Salad is good, too. An Asian salad is only good if it has a great Asian dressing. This one is great. I've had sandwiches, Mexican food and more. It's been a place we really enjoy. Baked good are fantastic. We've been to two locations, Sacramento & Rancho Cordova. We went with a party of six and were quickly seated. The waitress was super fast at getting coffees and water for those who requested it. She took our orders on filling our drinks and returned in what seemed like minutes with food. I didn't like the hashbrown potato patty as it was over crispy, but the fried potatoes were perfect. I had an over easy egg that was spot on. The yolk was dunkable as I love it for my toast and it was a really large yolk. My plate had a side of grapes, too. Just delicious. Stopped in here today for the first time and wanted breakfast. I ordered the sweet potato pancakes. It came with eggs, bacon and sausage. I like my eggs in between medium and hard but never ask. So I ordered them medium and they came out exactly how I like them! That literally never happens. I ordered my bacon crispy and it was perfect! The pancakes were absolutely delicious. Not to sweet and you can taste and smell the cinnamon. My waiter, Jordan, was great! The service was outstanding. I never had to ask for my iced tea to be refilled. Disclaimer: I rarely do these I've been in the area for 7 years now - I've come here off and on (It's within walking distance). I recently had a bad experience - the fork at my table was dirty (there was clearly an orange piece of something stuck to it - it came wrapped in the napkin so somebody somewhere wasn't really looking). Then the waiter delivered my water and said there was something in it...so it was promptly taken away and replaced (I'm glad it was caught by the waiter but....man). Finally - the food was fine (I got a benedict variant) but the country potatoes weren't seasoned (like at all - the ones that had any seasoning were very apparent because you could see the specks) and they were also undercooked (A bit firm). The bacon wasn't on the side either - it was placed under the eggs and the momay sauce? Is that normal? It was still fine I just thought that was weird. For $26 before tip it just didn't seem worth it. I can 't imagine coming here with one other person and paying $50+ - there's a Denny's across Madison that might match this experience with a lower overall cost. I also know it's a chain - I think I've seen the Sysco/US Foods trunks completing deliveries to Brookfield's (Correct me if I'm wrong). It's fine - you know what you're getting - but it's not fresh food that's locally sourced. I haven't been to Cricket's in a while - I'll give them a try next. read more

Our server Andy was efficient, and hospitable, and answered my questions on what dishes were good. The restaurant is spacious and has family photos throughout the establishment. I opted for a breakfast dish with a mimosa. I had the spinach/mushroom omelette with country potatoes that were lukewarm and not that good, and a delicious warm blueberry scone with butter. The blueberry scones are made in house, my omelette was okay, it was cheesy, and the spinach and mushrooms were a surprising mix, as I don't usually get this type of omelette. My country potatoes lacked flavor and were lukewarm. I was promptly brought a new plate of potatoes they were hot but still lacked flavor. The mimosa tasted like a typical traditional mimosa. We just love Brookfields. Maybe just a little bit less after last night's visit, though. We arrived, were greeted immediately, and seated promptly. We sat for about ten minutes without being approached by a server. I needed water to take my dinner meds so I approached the counter where a good number of employees were congregating to ask for a glass of water. Things turned around from here... Once the team realized we had been seated and not tended to, we began to receive good service. Our server took good care of us for the remainder of our time there. We like the Old Fashioned Americana vibe, and we like that the place is always clean. The menu offers a great variety, but beware there are more changes than just increased prices. The Asian salad that my wife almost always orders has changed. Mandarin oranges are no longer an ingredient in this dish... what??? That's her favourite part! Anyway, I didn't recheck the menu, but I believe they probably updated it with this change. I did ask our server about it and she confirmed oranges were a standard part of the salad but that they are not anymore. I had the chicken fried steak, which is always good.
