I've been to Cafeteria 15L a few times now, so whenever I'm in town, I try to make it a habit to stop by. Breakfast usually isn't my favorite, but for this place, I'll gladly make an exception! The staff is always friendly, and I usually make a reservation just in case. The ambiance is relaxed, and the staff stays on top of everything without being overbearing. There's also a nice variety when it comes to both the food and drinks. This visit, I went with the Florentine Benedict, and it did not disappoint. The sauce was smooth and flavorful, and the poached egg was cooked perfectly. My drink was refreshing and definitely warranted during this heatwave! Another great visit to Cafeteria 15L. It was a busy evening and we had excellent service. The watermelon heirloom salad was delicious although there was very little tomato. The prime rib was very thin cut, and the horseradish sauce was very light would not order this again. The rotisserie chicken salad was very basic would not order again. The chicken and waffles were absolutely delicious. The country gravy is not our thing, so it was on the side. The cinnamon butter that came with it made it extra delicious and the syrup was great too. The Seabass was absolutely terrible. It tasted like really overdone cod and the crab coating just tasted like burnt flour base crust. This was a severe disappointment. I ordered asparagus on the side which was cooked the way they did in the 1950s to a point of mush and what was another severe disappointment. The chocolate bomb was absolutely delicious. I have to say when I come again, I will stick to my usual Thai steak salad as it is always incredibly good and for the main course, I will probably order that chicken and waffles again too! read more

Have been here now several times with friends and family, and it is a solid choice for brunch or lunch. They have a great menu, lots of seating inside, and a super cute outdoor seating area. It does get busy here, there have been times when my friends and I couldn't get a reservation on the weekends. The food is tasty and the service is good. I really like their waffles and bacon, however once I had undercooked pancakes here but they were able to remake them. I recommend coming and trying them out at least once! read more

Service was excellent and we came in kind of last min and at a busy time but they were able to seat us within 5 min. We had kids at 1 table and adults right next to them, it was great . Brooke W. Was our waitress and was Excellent taking care of us all and kiddos . She was on top of everything and fast . I had The fish and chips and was delicious. Entrance to this restaurant is very beautiful and trendy . Upon arriving at the restaurant we were greeted and seated within minutes. Our server was helpful and insightful for assisting in selecting the best entrees to our taste buds. The meal arrived within 12 minutes. Not only was the food fresh and hot, but it was also super tasty & delicious. I could write all day about this, but to summon it up in one sentence, the flavor just melted and exploded in my mouth with every bite. Was in Sac for a concert and stopped by Cafeteria 15L for their happy hour. The place is huge with outdoor and indoor seating. The happy hour prices were reasonable and had so many great options. Can't say for certain about the parking situation because it was a close walk from our hotel. We ordered 2 mocktails, the watermelon sugar and basil berry fizz. Both drinks were super sugary and tart, which I ended up diluting with water. Still refreshing and tasty, but I think it was a bit overkill on sugar. For our mains, we tried the rigatoni bolognese, trio of fries, and chicken tenders. All food and drinks for under $50! The portions were massive, especially the trio of fries, which I was not expecting. The sweet potato fries were a bit soggy compared to the other 2, which were significantly crispier. The chicken tenders were ok and probably the least exciting thing we ordered haha. On the other hand, the bolognese was by far the standout! Flavorful, rich, creamy and the cheese pull from the pasta was to die for. Our server was super cool and patient with us, as it was our first time coming here. Really cute place with a large outdoor seating area right across from the capital lawn / park. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a pretty large indoor bar. Outdoor seating is a mix of tables and couch / lounge type seating. They have a large menu of salads, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. Service: service was good. Food came out pretty quick. Drinks: I got the berry lemonade mocktail and was surprised the mocktails were only $5.75! It was a bit too sweet for my liking though and I was trying to dilute it with water, but couldn't enough to allow me to finish the drink. Food: I got the western burger with fries. The burger was ok, but cooked well done when I ordered it medium. It came with a huge stack of shoestring fries which were good and addicting. My son got the kid's Mac and cheese. I didn't try it, but it was pretty large portion of mac and cheese and also came with a small portion of celery, grapes and a a cookie. I recently had an amazing early lunch at Cafeteria 15L. One of the people I was going to be dining with chose this location because they knew I would have my dog with me and they have a very pet friendly patio here. I arrived a little early and it started sprinkling out of the blue. There was a woman waiting in front with a baby as well, so the staff was kind enough to open the doors a few minutes early and let us inside. The patio was large and mostly covered, which is a huge plus. It was well decorated and had a fresh, cozy vibe. There were three of us and we tried the Hot Honey Margarita's, French Dip, Western Burger and a Cobb Salad. The food was yummy and the servings are so big! We were all full for sure! After a nice tip it cost about $100 for lunch for the three of us and we all had a nice time. I love that they are dog friendly and I would definitely come here again, especially to try their Happy Hour! read more

I was looking for a place for a team dinner of 10 and this so happened to be right in front of our hotel. We did not have reservations but we were able to be seated rather quickly. Our server was pleasant and answered all of the questions we had about the menu. Grilled cheese and tomato soup- 3/5 the tomato soup in the pictures looked a lot creamier than the one I received, mine was a bit watery. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich saved the meal. Overall my meal was ok. I liked that it came with either a side salad or fries and of course I opted for the fries. I have been here a few times and the food seems to disappoint a little. I enjoyed the tuna small bite and the French toast was pretty good. I really LOVED their drink menu. I had the seasonal pear beverage and was shocked at how good and refreshing it was. The front staff was a little snappy and wasn't concerned about being cordial or kind, but was only concerned if we had reservations. We tried to tell them that our party was there alread, and she said "oh someone is here? Do they have reservations " ... some proper restaurant etiquette would be nice. "Hi how are you" etc... I was recently in Sacramento and had brunch with some friends at Cafeteria 15L. We sat outside on their patio, and it was such a beautiful day, so it was the perfect choice! Their patio area is really cute, and they have plenty of seating both outside and inside. The only downside was the service. It took us over 15 minutes just to place our drink order, and then it took a while for our drinks to come out. Since it was a warmer day, it would've been nice to have water on the table right away. I actually received my food before I even got my water or the drink I ordered, which was a little disappointing. The good thing is once we finally placed our food order, it came out really fast! I ordered the Mexican Skillet, which comes with eggs, chicken chorizo, onions, peppers, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, tater tots, and a tortilla. It was really good! The only thing I felt it was missing was salsa. I think having salsa on top or even on the side would have made this dish even better and added that extra flavor it needed. We also tried the Chicken and Waffles, which came with southern fried chicken, pork sausage country gravy, a Belgian waffle, pecan butter, and maple syrup. The waffle was delicious, and the pork sausage gravy had a really good flavor. The portion was also very generous. I was only able to eat about half of my meal. Overall, the food was good, and the restaurant itself is really cute. The patio is a great spot to sit, especially on a nice day. However, the service was the biggest downside of our visit. Even after finishing our food, it took a while for our server to check on us. After getting our check, we also waited quite a bit for our to go boxes and eventually decided to just ask for them at the front because we had been waiting so long. The restaurant wasn't packed, so I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but I do think it's something to keep in mind if you're coming here. If you're not in a rush and want to enjoy a slower brunch, it could be a nice spot. The food was good, but because of the service, I'm not sure if I would come back. read more

Alot of us were in town for a convention and so this place was very close. It seemed as though many of our attendees ended up eating here. I came in with a large group and considering how many of us there were, it was a rather seamless effort. Conveniently located near the Capitol, this place has a great ambiance. It's a good spot for large parties or small groups. I've been here a couple of times and enjoyed both visits. The first time, I tried the shrimp scampi, and the second time, I tried their grilled ham and cheese with tomato soup - both were delicious and big portions! We went to have lunch during our AVID conference. We were so lucky that they were able to accommodate the 9 of us in a walk-in. Our server, Tara, was so awesome and even was willing to split all of our checks!! I ordered the side of green beans and buttermilk dipped chicken strips. The green beans were more "saucy" than I had hoped for but the chicken strips were delicious! They were crunchy and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I loved that they came with a sweet n sour dip and ranch. One of the girls ordered the Grilled Cheese (havarti), mixed salad and tomato soup. I will definitely come back in the winter to order that!!!! The food came out at different times which was understandable because they got slammed by all the teachers who had come over for lunch! Came here using my Resy Credit through an American Express card. I've heard a lot about this restaurants from my friends as the new "go to" restaurant - although by now it's been there for quite a while. No complimentary parking, so be prepared to pay either street parking or 15 in their lot, as they do not validate parking. They give quite generous portions, and we got a bunch of tomato based dishes and tater tots as well lol. Highly recommend the truffle tater tots, cobb salad, and shakshuka! We got their after Christmas waffles, and they were just okay. I wouldn't get them again. They didn't taste special and the fruit on top made they pretty soggy. Also they didn't mention pistachios, which my friend is allergic, so we had to separate that out from the other food. read more

Lunch was in order and Cafeteria 15L was on the menu. The restaurant was fairly empty around 11:45 so we got seated fairly quickly. The menu seemed fairly simple and straight to the point. I decided to get the Grilled Atlantic Salmon entree - bad choice. The overall presentation of the dish was great. The base layer was a very delicious creamy corn orzo. That's about all I can say about this dish that was appetizing. Even though the menu does mention asparagus, it was nowhere to be seen, the tomatoes took a day off as well. So basically all I got was a blob of orzo and a "side" of salmon. To call it anything else would be a crime. The patty at McDonalds Fillet O Fish would look like a full entree next to what I was served. The menu says the salmon is grilled. I guess charcoal bricks with a hint of salmon is what their version of grilled is. The salmon was dry and charred. I've had meals at this restaurant before and remember it being much more tastier. A late review for a visit at the end of June. My husband and I made a reservation for four on a Sunday at 7:30 pm. When the restaurant called to confirm, they never mentioned that they close at 8 pm. When we arrived, our server was friendly and patient while taking our order, but repeatedly reminded us the kitchen was closing. We understood and ordered quickly because we understand how cumbersome the service industry and waiting shifts can be-- but after that, no one checked on us even once during the entire meal- even for water. We had requested extra sauces on the side, which we didn't receive. Four of us felt invisible unless we flagged someone down, and even then, another staff member who was still on his shift, wearing headphones walked right past us without acknowledging we needed help. The food itself was delicious -- we all enjoyed our different burgers -- but the service was disappointing, especially since my friend and I used to come here often for happy hour and always had great experiences- for the food, service and ambiance. Unfortunately, this visit didn't reflect the warm service we remembered. read more

This was our first time here. We literally wandered in off the street as we walked by. The couple that walked in before us asked if this was our first time. We affirmed. They told us without hesitation "you're going to love it!" The friendly hostesses greeted us quickly. We didn't have reservations (noted for next time), so we opted for two seats at the bar over the patio. Kacey was our primary server but the guy behind the bar (didn't catch his name) also jumped in at our request to place our food order, refilled ice water and checked in on us. As most know of me, I can't stand sitting in front of dirty plates. Well the guy had them cleared in less than 1 minute. The service was phenomenal! We ordered the mahi mahi sammich with string fries, the cheeseburger sliders and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. The food is filled with flavor, definitely fresh and all around filling. We come here for Saturday/Sunday brunch when the weather is warm and you can dine in the very large outdoor covered patio area, and we are always well taken care of by our server. The food for brunch is excellent, as is the overall vibe of the place. I am told it is a nightclub in the evenings (probably Friday/Saturday), and you can tell if you take a walk around the huge space that this is. Great having all these separate rooms and areas.
