After hearing so much about this restaurant being arguably the best Breakfast / Brunch location in Sacramento, me, my girlfriend and my cousin were really excited to visit this place! The wait was about an hour-ish for us which seemed pretty standard for a breakfast-restaurant with great reputation. Though MANY items on their menu sounded delicious, my party and I ended up getting the grilled cheese benedict, breakfast burrito, pear & pecan french toast, alongside with the bacon chocolate chip cookie and chocolate tres leches bread pudding. The grilled cheese benedict was not really what I was expecting. It tasted a little average with the slices of bread feeling very crunchy with their hollandaise tasting a little underwhelming. The potatoes were pretty plain but the overall rating for this item was a 3/5 for me. The pear & pecan french toast was pretty good, though it was fairly large I felt like I didn't get the same sort of presentation of both the grilled cheese & french toast as I seen on social media. Though I only had a bite of my cousin's burrito I'd say it was pretty good! As for the bacon chocolate chip cookie and chocolate tres leches bread pudding (not pictured), we found our cookie to be fairly burnt and not enjoyable whereas the bread pudding was really delicious! Though our service was good, I can't really agree or say that the food here makes this restaurant the #1 here in Sacramento, maybe I'll give this place another go in the future but other than that this place was just OK for me. read more

When I told people this week, I was going to Bacon & Butter, they all reacted the same. "OMG ur going to love it" and "OMG it's so good" or something to that effect. As a result, my reactions were fairly high. We didn't have to wait very long, which was nice, especially since that was the main complaint of those who had been previously. I was told to not go on the weekend because the wait times can be insane. Such a travesty that places do not do reservations. It was kind of wild that we had to wait at all on a weekday morning.  When I spotted the cinnamon roll on the menu, I knew we had to try it. It was light on the frosting, which normally isn't my jam, but the coating/ crystallization on the roll itself was yummy. Huge portion size.  We split the breakfast burrito which came with the house chorizo, cheesy scrambled egg, cheddar cheese skirt, potato, hot sauce, and a pasilla pepper crema. The pepper crema was delicious, and the creaminess was perfect with the potatoes.  The potatoes that came with the sandwich were my favorite part of the meal. 4 STARS FOR THE FOOD ERIC IS RUDE !! Been here before and the food is always great. Today the food and service were great as well, and our server Perla was amazing. However, the hostess experience was honestly horrible and rude. My sister and I were standing in line while my husband and our 1 kid and newborn waited in the car. When it was our turn, the hostess ERIC asked how many were in our party and we said 4. He then said the whole party needed to be there and let 2 other parties go in front of us. ERIC could've at least given us a minute for my husband and kids to walk up from the car. If that's the policy, there should really be a sign stating the full party must be present before being seated, because I would've had everyone wait in line with us from the beginning. Then when my family came up, he argued that it wasn't a party of 4, it was 5 because of our newborn in the stroller, and gave us attitude about it. Honestly, I almost just left at that point. It was 11am, I'm a tired mom, hungry, and the interaction was unnecessarily stressful. Again, Perla and the food were great, but the hostess ERIC and his service experience really needs improvement. I have no idea why I never wrote a Yelp review for Bacon & Butter because I have dined here at least a dozen time since I moved to Sacramento 10+ years ago. We used to always come in a group of 8-10 and someone always make reservation. I think back then they would take reservation for large parties. Not sure if they still do it now. So, I don't remember ever having to wait that long until.... Mother's Day! Yep, I know...I know...it was a badddd idea to come on Mother's Day and I will never make that mistake again if I can help it. My sweet son arrived at around 10:30 AM to put his name down on the list and was told we should be seated at around noon time. Great! I took my time and arrived at around 11:45 AM. Long story short, we didn't get seated until 1:15 PM. We were standing outside the entire time trying our best to stay in the shade. They were going to seat us outside in 85 degree afternoon heat. My son told him that he had put down for an inside table. The waiter was like you might have to wait another 10 minutes and I was about to lose it. The 5 of us squeezed in a booth that was meant for 4 people inside! We just wanted to eat and get it over with. Without a doubt, food is great and quality is consistent here but is it worth the ridiculous long wait??? Fortunately, the food came very quickly. Pear & Pecan French Toast is still my favorite. Brioche toast mixed with whipped cream and caramel sauce. It's the best breakfast dessert. If you prefer savory, I recommend the omelet for the huge portion. If you want both sweet and savory, definitely go with Chicken Waffle. If you (B&B) have read this far, I beg you to start taking reservations. You can have customers put credit card down to hold the reservation and charge $15-20 per person for no show! read more

Our waiter was very kind but was not as attentive as I'd hope when it comes to checking in on us. This place gets busy so it just seems like everyone's running around everywhere. As far as the food it was delicious. I was just disappointed because I asked for light cheese and it actually looks like they put extra LOL Overall, a spot with good and free parking (what i love) but it gets pretty loud in there with how busy it gets. I was told everything on the menu would be a hit, so I went for the chicken n waffle because the persimmon syrup intrigued me. It was a lovely spiced fruity syrup and I noticed that it switches between menus, so now I'm curious about the other syrups! The service was quite slow on a weekend and we struggled to get much help even when we were ready to pay the bill to give another group our table. This time I built a simple breakfast, and didn't order a specialty item. I had scrambled eggs, a sausage patty, potatoes, a side biscuit, and bacon. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and garnished well. The potatoes were perfectly crisp and seasoned, and soft in the inside. Honestly, the potatoes may have been the star of the breakfast. The biscuit was delightfully soft, buttery, and fluffy. It was perfectly complimented by their house made butter, which I wanted to drink. The breakfast meats were great. I prefer the bacon over the sausage. The sausage was a little too herbaceous for my taste. The service was awesome. Everyone was delightfully pleasant. It's a cool ambience. It's pretty simple. It feels cozy and authentic. I know some people like the specialty items here, but they're a little too filling and rich for me, and I don't feel so great afterwards. First of all, a big thank you for the organization of the wait list. There was a sign to check in and another spot to gather when your table was ready. We had a short wait but it was very organized and if you are going to a popular place, you are looking at a wait. Once in, we got our menus and water. They gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. We ordered the chicken waffle, the kitchen sink, smashed fries, bread pudding, and cookie of the day. The food arrived and it was delicious. The chicken and waffle had a cherry cola syrup that took the dish over the top. The waffle was light and fluffy and the chicken was crisp and moist. The kitchen sink was flavorful and everyone shared. Surprisingly, the bread pudding was okay. Not bad, but not spectacular. The verdict is still out on the coconut cookie as we took a lot home with us in to go boxes, including the cookie. Service was excellent and they kept my water glass full and checked in on us several times. The place is cute and has a welcoming vibe. One of the better brunch spots I've been to, really pretty presentation. Surprisingly a lot of vegetarian friendly alternatives / mods that can be made to the menu despite being called "bacon and butter". The grilled cheese Benedict had great textures, nice crisp on the grilled cheese and complemented well with creamy egg and hollandaise sauce. Egg was not overcooked. Grilled cheese could've been cheesier but they did use a sharp + smooth cheese combo. Went on a Saturday so it was busy as always . Parking is hard to find but there is street parking nearby. We were told it would be 40 mins to an hour wait and it was okay. We had a toddler and asked for a high chair . Since they have limited high chairs and only available to seat high chairs outside we were not seated as soon as we could have . They got the standards, but what I appreciate is the detail. For instance, they could have just chunked jalapeños into their sando's but instead they took the time to thinly slice them. They also put together fun combinations without going over the top. So, it's like not just a standard..it's a standard+. so like, here's an omelette..but we are going to throw lardon on there not just some regular bacon. Little things like that. it's fun. Huge portions, in fact, me and the wife decided we are only splitting meals there from now on, and getting the bread pudding. neither of us ate more than half our meal and it was all pretty tasty. The asian dude they had as the host was super nice. He set the waitress and the kitchen up for success. The bad: Alot of things are just ok. passable. My husband and I went there last weekend for the second time. The first time we went we ordered a very basic breakfast. It was good enough. It was the Bloody Mary that made us return. Then we got adventurous and tried different food items and our lives changed! First let me say the Bloody Mary Mix is made in house. My husband order a Bloody Maria and I got the Virgin Bloody Mary. It was just as delicious as the first time. Fresh, flavorful and perfectly served in a mason jar. For food we ordered the omelette, grilled cheese Benedict and the pear and pecan French toast. YALL!!!!!! The food came out piping hot. When we saw it coming we missed the anticipation of "yay there's our food" because the gent was carrying what appeared to be a massive amount of food. Guess what? It was ours! The had we known the entrees would be so large we would have both ordered entrees....now the French toast, I would have ordered anyway! The hollandaise sauce was amazing and the egg was nice and runny. The omelette was fluffy. It wasn't packed with meat so if you like lots of meat you should order extra. Updating my review from 7 years ago since I can't believe it's been that long since I've been here again. Arrived around 10:30 on a Sunday and it was packed! Every parking spot was taken and there was a line out the door. We were able to put our names on the waiting list. There are outdoor benches that people were sitting at while waiting, but eventually they had to move because they started using those tables for people to sit and eat at. We were finally called around 11:30 or so. We were seated inside at a table and were greeted quickly. Our server was friendly and the service was pretty quick. I ordered the smashed fingerling potatoes with a side of hollandaise sauce and a side of what I think was gravy, but they called it aioli? I've never seen an aioli like that before, but both were really good with the potatoes. I also got the pear and pecan French toast. The French Toast was so good. Not overly sweet. The pears were a perfect texture. The French toast was fluffy and soft with crunchy outsides. The portions are huge. Basically had enough for 2-3 more meals left over. My friend ordered the Grilled Cheese Benedict and it looks heavenly. She said it was really good. Overall, another great visit. Get here early or prepare to wait awhile to be seated. I got there a few minutes before the rest of my party, so I waited on the side until they got there. As soon as they arrived we were seated ASAP. Really cute restaurant with ample parking. Visited for the first time on 1/24/26, we were seated at the counter after a 20 minute wait. I actually didn't mind our seating arrangement at the countertop, it was quite comfortable and spacious, and we were assisted shortly by our server who was friendly and always extremely attentive. The sandwich was delicious, the cheese, egg, and the sausage patty combined with the toasted, soft biscuit was perfect. It came with potatoes accidentally-- I let the server know before eating, to which he let me enjoy on the house as he came back with my fruit bowl! The potatoes were definitely the better choice though, they were perfectly crispy and filling and the fruits were still a great side with slices of oranges, kiwi, grapes, and pomegranate seeds. The chicken and waffle were also delicious! I really like how thick and cake-like the waffle was, it complimented well with the syrup. The food, service, and atmosphere was overall very pleasant and filling! They even give you a little book at the end of your meal for you to sign or write about your experience. We visited Bacon & Butter on a Sunday morning around 10:45 AM. The parking lot was pretty full when we arrived, and the restaurant itself is on the smaller side. Luckily, as soon as we pulled in, someone was leaving, so we were able to grab a spot right away. We didn't mind at all, and we were seated immediately, which was really nice. The ambience inside is super fun and cozy. There are comic-style art pieces and movie posters around the space, cute glasses displayed on the walls, and warm ambient lighting that gives it a laid-back, creative vibe. It feels casual but still really thoughtfully decorated -- definitely somewhere you enjoy just hanging out for a bit. As soon as we sat down, we were brought waters, and I ordered a hot cocoa. It was really good -- the whipped cream was super thick and honestly looked like a scoop of ice cream on top, which I loved. For my meal, I ordered the chicken and waffles. The syrup with pomegranate did throw me off a little at first, but overall the dish was still really good and very filling. My friend ordered the Kitchen Sink plate, which is basically a breakfast bowl, and they also said it was super filling. We both ended up needing to-go boxes. We came in early on New Year's Day expecting a long wait, but luckily arrived early enough to be seated right away. I ordered the kitchen sink again along with a carafe of pomegranate mimosas. Service was great overall. Our waitress was very attentive and the booth was comfortable. That said, the kitchen sink didn't quite live up to my memory. The potato-to-lardon ratio felt a bit off, and the lardon itself seemed slightly over-salted and overcooked. It was still a solid meal, just not as memorable as I remembered it being. The pomegranate mimosa was good, as expected, and definitely got us a little toasty. If I could give this place 10 stars I would not hesitate. It was obviously a very popular spot. We had a 45 minute wait and it was totally worth it. The staff was amazing and the atmosphere was cool, country, homey and pure foody heaven! The menu is small but there are so many interesting choices i wanted to try one of everything. I opted for the pear pecan French toast per the servers recommendation. Im so glad I did! My wife got the Avocado toast and it was amaze balls! Everything on the menu is amazing! I came here with my partner and we enjoyed a variety of dishes. Although there was a long wait, we were quickly sat at the "bar" and had a drink and a menu in hand quite quickly. The best view in my opinion is the bar area right in front of the kitchen. Lots of, "ohh whats that?" Or "Ill take one of those". Waiters are helpful when suggesting items and quick to add your items to the growing pile of tickets to the kitchen. Kitchen is full of quick chefs, pouring items from on place to another and getting pans on and off the grill and into the broiler. Food makes it to the plate and dressed up ready to be eaten. We waited for just over an hour on our way traveling back to Reno from Stockton. After being seated and you order food comes out fairly quickly. The wait is well worth it. No complaints. There is a cute little thrift store right next to it, nice to browse around and support Austism with your purchase if you want to pass the time. If you love breakfast/brunch foods then you will love this place! It was my first time coming here and we had to join a waitlist. However, the wait didn't feel long and we were seated rather quickly. There were a lot of items that looked super yummy but I decided to order the grilled cheese Benedict. I had never had eggs Benedict like these before and I enjoyed my meal very much. We also ordered the chicken waffle which I have never had before this place. I am definitely a fan now! I thoroughly enjoyed this place and would love to come back and try something new. Our server was also very nice and accommodating. We got our food quickly after ordering. I like how they have lots of options as sides so you can customize your meal and try something new every time. Amazing spot for breakfast or brunch! Went here on a Sunday morning and we all expect breakfast to be busy and long waits on the weekend. Was seated much faster than expected. Very polite, professional and friendly staff! The food is amazing!!! And came out pretty quickly after ordering. Didn't wait long at all Probably the best twist to eggs Benedict I've ever had to be honest. Not traditional but is amazing nonetheless the less arguably better. Great food. Good vibe. Excellent Coffee. Service was good too! This place was recommended to us by our daughter who lives in Sac. We didn't know what to expect except that we knew the food would be good. There's a line outside the door to check in, and there's another line to be seated once they've texted you to say your table is ready. The guy at check in was very friendly, we appreciated his warm welcome. We did have to wait outside on a rainy day for about 20 minutes, but it wasn't bad at all. Most people sat in their car until they were ready to be seated. We sat at the bar. Workers be hustling there. Coffee by Camellia was excellent. Food was good! I ordered the Chicken & Waffles. Hubby ordered the Peach French Toast with a side of sausage. Overall, we had a excellent dining experience. It is no wonder the place is crowded with lines out the door. Definitely worth patronizing.
