I would give ZERO stars if that were an option. Our experience today at The Morning Fork was incredibly disappointing and, quite frankly, unacceptable. The restaurant itself was already VERY loud, with customers talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves. We actually appreciated the atmosphere because, as parents of a toddler, it made us feel more comfortable dining there as a family. Shortly after receiving our food, my toddler became upset and started crying. The OWNER approached my husband and asked him to REMOVE OUR CHILD FROM THE RESTAURANT. My husband, being the respectful person he is, complied and took her outside. At first, I was confused about why he had suddenly left until he called me and explained what the owner had told him. We had JUST received our food. At that point, I asked our server to remove the untouched items from our bill. I made it clear that I was more than willing to pay for anything we had already touched or consumed, but I was not comfortable continuing to give my business to an establishment whose owner had just asked my husband to remove our toddler. The owner then approached me, and I explained how inappropriate and upsetting I found the situation, especially considering how loud the restaurant already was. I could barely hear my own daughter over the overall noise in the restaurant. Her response was that "people were looking at me," which is why she asked my husband to take our daughter OUTSIDE. That response was extremely disappointing. She is a TODDLER. Toddlers sometimes cry. We were not allowing her to run around the restaurant, destroy anything, or behave dangerously. She was simply upset and crying. If noise was truly the issue, then why was our child singled out in an already extremely loud restaurant? What makes the experience even more uncomfortable is that we already felt we were greeted rudely by our first server. I do want to recognize the gentleman who was calling names for the tables. He was very kind and welcoming, and I appreciated his professionalism. As for the owner, I am extremely disappointed that someone who owns a restaurant would treat paying customers and their child this way. Families with young children deserve to know what kind of environment they are walking into. If children, or the normal behavior that occasionally comes with having toddlers are not welcome in your establishment, that should be clearly communicated to customers before they sit down and order food. We will not be returning, and I hope no other family is made to feel as unwelcome and embarrassed as ours was today. read more

a cozy diner with a hustle and bustle atmosphere. service was good. our waitress was kind and even other workers checked up on us throughout our time. food was good but expensive. i paid $19 for my half order and the portion was a bit smaller than i expected even for being a half order. the benedict was good though, they give you a decent amount of seafood which was tender and the flavor came through very well. the english muffin was buttered and toasted perfectly and wasn't stale. egg was also cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was yummy! fruit cup was okay, but the pineapples were really good, juicy, and sweet. read more

This is a fabulous old school dinner with a twist of southern breakfast choices and modern compilations. My crab and lobster eggs Benedict was divine. Had a taste of their fried chicken which has a little kick in the spices and so flavorful. It's busy and it's noisy but it's fast and delicious. Finally came back to The Morning Fork after almost a year, but I was sad to say my friend and I were both disappointed with the food today. I ordered the French toast, it was just ok. My friend also said her eggs, hashbrowns and bacon were on the bland side. Food was decent but lackluster. BUT the best part of our whole meal was the side of biscuits and sausage gravy. We came here for lunch/brunch. Our first time here we didn't know there was even a second room. The front entrance room was full except some booths were open. It took a couple minutes for someone to even greet us, but they were busy. Someone sat us in the room behind the counter. We ordered the crab lobster Benedict with house potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs with sausage/bacon and side of fruit. The bacon was really good. Everything was great. I once went to a concert that ended at 2 am in a venue that was 4 hours away from where I lived. I got home at 6 am, slept for 3 hours and went to brunch begrudgingly. I was in for a surprise. After a quick Yelp search we ended up at Morning Fork for breakfast. It was about a 10 minute drive from our hotel near Sutter Park. I was starving! I only ate a half of a hot dog at the game and we were too tired after the game and the fireworks show to find food in a town we were unfamiliar with. I'm giving this five stars because I love classic 60s 70s types of diners where they have just good basic breakfast.. Nothing special and fancy but just good comfort breakfast food like biscuits and gravy and Eggs Benedict with great hashbrowns. Their service was super attentive. I've avoided this place for a long time, simply because the line is always so long. But, we decided to just try it out and I'm so glad we did. Turns out, the wait isn't really that long at all. I mean, with the caveat that the counter is an acceptable option for you and yours. So, I hate diner coffee so much but this spot has legit diner coffee that I can enjoy. That was the first huge plus and we hadn't even order yet. Went with the order I always get at a diner with vibes. Corned beef hash with eggs over medium. Really solid flavor, eggs were cooked well and it was super good!! It's a lot of food so easily could be a leftovers option. The next time we came on in I did a classic Benny and it was really good. They obviously use salt and seasonings here cause the flavors pop. Gotta get back soon and maybe even try that fruity pebbles waffle but that might require an extra edible or two beforehand. This quaint downtown restaurant is just what you need on a Sunday morning. The sign in sheet outside with no hostess is a little odd but the staff does a good job of checking in on the list and on a Sunday morning the wait time is between 30-40 minutes. There is a huge counter seating area and lots of table and chair seating on both sides of the restaurant. The staff checked in with us immediately at the counter and offered to explain anything on the menu. I ordered their staple dish of the maple fried chicken and egg breakfast and it was amazing. There's nothing particularly awful about this place but it wouldn't be my pick for breakfast or brunch in Sacramento. The service here is good. There are many staff ready and wiling to help you. So much so that I had three individuals ask for my drink order and based on the loud nature of the restaurant received an extra drink that we didn't really need. No worries though, we were fine paying for that mistake. The food is good, but I haven't found my favorite thing yet. The chicken and waffles is a hefty plate and both done really well. I will say the breading on the chicken is very unique, perhaps a cornmeal? The same breading comes on the country fried steak which does not adhere as well. The meat in that was also very tough and hard to cut and chew. The hash browns were fine and the biscuits and gravy were a bit better than average. The chai I ordered came extremely sweet, but I still enjoyed it. The breakfast burrito also looked good and came with two sauces. Came here on a Friday a little after noon. A short wait for a table of 4. Once seated the server was quick to take our drink and food order. Appreciated how they are able to make customizations to the food orders as my friends removed and added proteins to what they ordered. I ordered the corned beef hash with hash browns, sourdough bread and my eggs scrambled. The portion size was more than enough. Everything was well seasoned, not too salty which you'd expect from corned beef. The hash browns was fresh, crispy and thankfully not greasy at all. For the table we split the pistachio waffle. I wish the waffle itself was fresh - it felt like it had been sitting out for a while. It wasn't too sweet. And the butter it came with was a nice balance. No need to add syrup as it was flavorful on its own. I appreciate the old school diner vibe. It was a bit windy the day I came and leaves would blow inside the restaurant so the floor had a lot of leaves that I wish they cleared out but only did as they were closing.
