    Avocado Scramble
    Irving N.

Came down this week for the first after hearing good reviews about this place and was honestly pretty disappointed on what we had and the experience as a whole. Do make sure to make reservations before coming in, luckily a table opened up and the host was able to get us seated promptly. The seats we were given were near the bar and it was only the one bartender taking care of his bar and the tables which lead to not having the best service. Again we get it was the bartenders area but you would think since it's the weekend you would have two bartenders working that area. When it comes to the food, my wife's brisket Benedict was pretty solid nothing crazy but my meal was probably the worst one.... When I hear the words " anything scramble" i think of a bunch of ingredients mixed together as a scramble. This was more of just scrambled eggs with some fried avocados on top. These breakfast "potatoes" were also dissatisfying and flavorless. I've worked in the restaurant business and can tell you that I hated when people sent plates back so I'm not one to send my plates back and make complaints, but this one was very close to me breaking that personal rule. Personally I don't think I'll ever come back at least not for their breakfast hours.

Went on a Saturday for brunch with three other people and when I asked the wait time, the host took awhile to seat us, even though I said we were ok with outside. At the end, we ended up seating outside and all the time wasted could have been to help other people. Our server was friendly, but since we were outside she would take awhile to come outside. The meatloaf was a big plate and my husband could not finish it. He did say it was a bit salty. The shrimp and grits were great (would recommend). My son's chicken tenders were great as well and looked homemade and not like it came from a frozen bag. There is paid parking around the area. It was a 60 degree day but with jackets on, the weather felt amazing. When we had stepped into the restaurant it had felt too stuffy, so I am glad we got to seat outside.

    Catfish & Jambalaya, good

3.5 stars, rounding up in fairness. Food was a solid 4, portions were amazing. Fried chicken, meatloaf and catfish were above average, your house made hot sauce was fire. Wait staff were very accommodating and polite, but for one thing: you guys need to bus your tables! Every table, and I mean EVERY table, including our party of 10, had piled plates on the table, even after desserts and coffees were served. Literally NOTHING was bussed after meals and desserts were finished. You guys weren't that busy (8:30 pm), you were doing sidework, napkin/silverware rollups next to the kitchen. That's cool if you choose not to employ busser staff, I guess...but it wouldn't be too much to require wait staff to remove plates before desserts or even before patrons get up to leave. That didn't happen in the entire restaurant. Priority should be customer experience, THEN knock out your sidework. I've had many years of restaurant experience, so I'm not just blowing smoke. Table maintenance would have earned you guys an extra star. You guys address that issue and I'll be back.

First of all, this is not JUST a brunch spot. They do dinner as well! I ate at the bar and had a lovely time with the bartender, Corbett, who made amazing drinks!! True craftsmanship! Ask him for his off menu drink, the Wingman. It was phenomenal! For food I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were the best I ever had!! And I love me a fried green tomato! I also ordered the brisket meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was scrumptious!! So flavorful and soul satisfying!! I also had fun getting to know the manager, Shelby! The crew at Porch created such a friendly and fun environment especially as I was dining alone, it was nice to share laughs and convo with them! I can't wait to go back with my family and try their gumbo or maybe the jambalaya!!!

I hadn't been to The Porch in years, so I thought to take my best friend here since she was visiting from out of town and rarely gets to eat Southern-inspired dishes. To start, the beignets caught her eye on Yelp, so we didn't hesitate to order this sweet treat for starters. What's more are the fresh and sweet berries, pineapple, and oranges were perfectly paired with these beignets that were not overly sweet and not fully covered in powdered sugar. Our server was so easy to chat with and took time to answer our questions and talk about the menu. We were convinced to order the brisket and biscuit and all I can say is WOW. As soon as we took a bite of the brisket with the biscuit, the flavors popped in our mouth! We thanked our server for giving a high recommendation for this dish. I have enjoyed my share of shrimp and grits in different restaurants in different cities because it is one of my fav Southern dishes to eat. Hands down, their shrimp and grits is now in my top five fav! I added a sunny side up egg, so this, plus the combo of the gulf shrimp with bacon, cheese, diced tomatoes, green onions, with porch bbq sauce, truly gave me Southern brunch comfort. I decided to add tots and I'm so happy I did because their tots are extra crispy, making the tots a scrumptious addition to this mouthwatering dish! I love the Mardi Gras theme of this restaurant and it brought back memories from when friends and I ate here often many years ago. I'm glad to be back and 'hope to return to try their other menu items and drinks, like happy hour, sooner than later!

So many ups and downs at this place. We loved the Southern charm/ambiance and the attentive wait staff, but the food was kinda all over the place. Offerings - Biscuits and Gravy: Rather basic and a bit on the salty side. The biscuits were quite dense. Also, breakfast potatoes here translated to a baked potato with a bit of Parmesan on top. - Shrimp Po Boy: This was amazing and we would definitely come back for this. The shrimp was fried perfectly and we loved the cornmeal batter. Fries were good also. - Chicken and Waffles: the fried chicken was good and the quantity that came was amazing. So much food. The waffle was pretty basic and great with maple syrup. - Free Birthday Brownie: Do not even attempt to eat this. We learned that even free things come at a cost. This was a horrid, crumbly mess that had nothing going for it. No flavor, no texture at all.

I've been to The Porch before for a Dine Downtown and the food was much better then. Perhaps we caught them an off night, or maybe the regular chef was MIA, but they were out of half the menu items for the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge, which was the reason we came. No Hushpuppy Veggies. No Cajun Baba Ghanoush. No Vegan Gumbo. The Blackened Maitake Mushroom Pasta I ordered also had substituted ingredients and fell flat on flavor. A shame for $23. That said, the service was fantastic and so were the vegan Cajun fried beets we ordered off the regular menu. The Banana Beignets, however, were a complete letdown of dense fried dough that tasted nothing of banana. Luckily the $17 espresso martini that I confirmed was dairy-free was heavenly. While I appreciate that The Porch has vegan-friendly items and participates in the October Challenge, this was a pricey letdown. I really hope they do better next year.

Came here to end a busy work week and get some yummy food on a rainy day! We came in for lunch and were seated right away. We were given brunch and cocktail menus along with the regular menu. It was a bit of a chilly day and the front door kept swinging open sending a chile to where we were sitting but other than that the decor was warm and cozy with farm animal paintings and statues and wood chairs. The service was great we even had some dumb questions about the Bloody Mary mix we were guessing what the ingredients were and they answered with smiles on their faces lol The shrimp po boy is great! And they were accommodating to my special requests to make the vegan bowl not vegan anymore. Overall it was a nice time out on a rainy day!

Amazing! First time here. The food was delicious. Our waiter made some great suggestions. We tried the beignets. Delicious! And they were shaped like little piggies I ordered the berries French toast. The whip cream on top was so good. There was a sweet fruit puree served with it tasted so good. My husband had the chicken waffles. The batter on the chicken was sweet and amazing. I would recommend coming here. Very affordable and a nice scenery.

Good customers service. The food was not great. I didn't like any of the food. Sitting outside was nice though.

    A fun twist on a Pimm's cup

I love The Porch! I go pretty regularly for happy hour and have been there for brunch. My favorite things to order are the fried green tomatoes, beignets, and the spicy chicken sandwich. The food is delicious, but the staff is what makes it one of my favorite places in Sacramento. Shelby, and Corbett are both amazing bartenders and make our time there very enjoyable, also make delicious craft cocktails. I can't say enough about the Porch. Keep up the good work, guys!

I cant rave enough about this place. The food is amazing and they made the best espresso martini I've ever had. My friend had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was so tender and juicy. The beignets were crispy and sweet and it felt like I was back in Louisiana. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a good meal with a southern flare.

I said I'll do whatever you recommend because I wanted to try a classic martini cuz I've been watching Gossip Girl. I felt silly admitting I wanted a martini because of a tv show. But my server actually did his research and found that Blair (a main character in the show) likes her martini with a lemon twist. And that is the martini I got. He brought frozen glass and poured the drink on the spot. It was such a vibe and a great drink. For food I got the grilled prawns. This dish is delicious and goes so well with my martini! This would help avoid the need for staff to present a dinner menu (which admittedly, I was confused by) and acknowledge that the first course options are all available but at no happy hour discount (which felt a bit awkward for all involved). Overall, a delightful discovery!

Wouldn't want to go on a regular basis, but something different to do with friends. Not a place to take children, dark inside. But excellent date night. We are going back for the jazz they have on Friday and Saturday nights. Excellent bar!

I'm going to enter their first annual steak cooking contest! I think I have a good chance. Well, actually a GREAT chance!! SERVICE The staff is top notch. They are great at explaining the experience, food items and cocktails. They ask what you like and what you don't like and then make informed recommendations drawing on their experience and expertise. DECOR Dark, soft and cozy. Great 70's music playing. Not too loud currently. A nice chill vibe. Live music on certain nights of the week. Take a chance and come in to find out when and enjoy! CLEANLINESS Always clean! I have never experienced otherwise. They have pride in all that they do and it shows! LOCATION In the heart of Sacramento. Good street parking. A nice location! PRICE All in all, respectable. Comparatively speaking in our current financial climate, they are priced great! OVERALL EXPERIENCE Always enjoy coming back. I come alone, with another person, or a booger group. All are great experiences!

Im a bit disappointed in the happy hour food…read more I've been here several times for their drinks, but something just didn't click in my most recent visit. I came here for happy hour and ordered a handful of their items. Chicken Lumpia - over all I was pleased with how piping hot, fresh out the fryer it was. A bit thin for my linking but I appreciated there were 6 pieces. The sauce did not pair well. There was something off about it that isn't your typical sweet and sour; maybe the sauce was made in house. Sisig fries - decent portion of fries but fell short on the pork. Lacked an egg and didn't really meet the sisig flavors that I'm used to. You can definitely taste the zestiness of the lemon - nice touch, but other than that it's just fries with pork, red onion and green onion garnish. Hot dog - a $9 happy hour hot dog was the biggest disappointment. Sure the bread texture was good, toasted with a nice chew, but that was it. The dog itself was charged to my linking but it really didn't feel worth the money spent for its portion. Fries - 100% would get again. Cauliflower bites - I liked this too, flavor was good but such a small portion our table has to order two. Similar to the hotdog, not sure if it's worth the spend for the portion size. Despite the food not satisfying my cravings, the service was great. The young lady was helpful and was working hard taking orders, making drinks and delivering the food. The place was pretty busy at least the indoor area. Plenty of seating outside, but in this heat not sure if it's a good idea. Didn't see any misters but would be a nice touch to draw in more folks. Side note: some of the cocktails are premade, and can be overly sweet.
