I've had an extremely frustrating experience with the management office at this apartment complex due to repeated incompetence and lack of accountability. I moved in back in November, and from the very beginning I was having issues with my mailbox not working. For nearly two months, I went back and forth with the office trying to get it resolved. I was repeatedly told they would "fix it," and each time nothing changed. After getting nowhere with management, I finally had to go directly to the post office myself to figure out what was going on. That's when it was discovered that the office had written the WRONG mailbox number on my lease agreement from the start. Even worse, after realizing their mistake, the leasing office never updated my paperwork or provided anything in writing with the correct mailbox number -- I was apparently just expected to remember the correct number verbally despite their original error. Instead of checking their own paperwork earlier, they kept making me deal with the issue and wasting my time for months over a problem they created themselves. On top of that, I'm now dealing with a carport that is covered in spider webs and black widows. When I brought up the safety concern and asked for it to be cleaned, management told me it was somehow my responsibility to clean the spider webs off property that they own and are supposed to maintain. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Overall, management has been disorganized, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility for problems they created. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before moving here. read more

Our experience at Brooklake (specifically in unit 13Q) was a massive disappointment for nearly $3k a month. I'll start with the only two positives: the maintenance team is incredibly fast, and there was a wonderful neighbor with a cute dog named Rocky. Aside from that, living here was a bad experience. We took over a lease, and while Angelina was initially helpful, management later approved a new roommate for us without verifying her employment. She ended up being late on rent, and we found out she never should have passed the screening. Parking is also a disaster. You are strictly limited to two spaces for three cars, forcing guests and extra vehicles to cross Harbor Blvd, a dangerously busy street where my roommate literally shattered their phone trying to get across. Meanwhile, the office staff has no problem taking up the limited visitor parking spaces. If you value peace, sleep, or safety, absolutely do not move into unit 13Q. The neighbors above us (an elderly man and a middle-aged caregiver who didn't even live there) subjected us to constant screaming and blasting stereos at all hours (even had to call the cops on them once at 1am because it sounded like someone was being attacked). I provided video proof, called, and visited the office, but management did nothing but give a single warning. Next door was a toxic couple constantly screaming and slamming doors, and above them was a drug dealer with a non-stop rotation of sketchy foot traffic. The apartment itself has terrible insulation and circulation; it is a furnace in the summer, an icebox in the winter, and the bathroom constantly grows mildew even with the fan running and door open. Outside, the property smells because residents leave dog waste everywhere. The amenities are a joke for what you pay. Management randomly removed all the pool umbrellas right before summer, then got mad and sent a mass email when residents brought their own shade. The gym closes when the office does, sometimes before 5 PM, and they expect you to pay extra for an "after-hours" key if you work normal hours. The laundry rooms are filthy, and a neighbor even threw my clean clothes onto the floor because I took ten minutes to grab them. To top it off, maintenance once took our personal shower head without asking to try and fix a hot water issue that it didn't even cause. Before deciding officially it was time to move we were sent the renewal form. Which stated our rent would increase by $100+ when they had stripped amenities and there had been no improvements to our 1970s style apartment. The office team is incredibly frustrating to deal with. Jared operates like a desensitized robot who forgets he is dealing with real people, Angelina consistently lies about solving issues, and emails are completely ignored. No one in the office solved our problems when addressed and we had to visit multiple times and people consistently during our tenancy to get issues resolved. During our last month, an influx of new staff meant we had to repeat our issues daily because no one communicates internally. The grand finale was our security deposit breakdown. Despite me visiting the office months ago to update our contact info, they emailed our sensitive financial data and the address of our new apartment to a past roommate who hasn't been on the lease for a year. Thanks for the casual data breach and doxxing as a goodbye gift, Brooklake. I have a laundry list of other issues, but you get the point. Look elsewhere. read more

I've been living in Brooklake Apartments for over a year and a half. I still think this is a great place to live, I have no plans on leaving anytime soon. The complex is very well-maintained and clean. It is true there is sometimes trash on the floor and dog poop also. But we as tenants must pick up after ourselves, we do not have our own personal cleanup crew. I do know that the maintenance staff are always cleaning up the mess, I see them do it every day. But they cannot be all over the complex 24 seven. The problem is not the staff and management, it is the person that walks the dog watches him poop and then walks away. All the people who drop the trash on the floor and just leave it there. If they take a little pride in where they live, most of these issues would go away. I absolutely love living here. What you hear about apartment complexes: loud neighbors, break ins, noisy or rude managers is not true here. Almost 5 months here, and everything has run smoothly. I never hear my neighbors, I have never experienced a break in or a dispute with the management. Complex is kept cleaned and well managed. The ONLY cons are that the apartments themselves are outdated; very dark apartments without natural sun hitting, popcorn ceilings, outdated kitchens and no central AC(but because most of the apartments receive so much shade it never gets too hot and there is AC just no central or a thermostat) Overall this apartment complex is great, and it's definitely much more beautiful than some other complexes near by. read more

We have been here at this property for more than 10 years. Over the last few years we have seen a lot of changes in management staff but I would like to mention 2 very special people from Brooklake Apartment property office (Mesa Management) in our life who have always been there to help us whenever it was needed. Both Angelina Washington and Lorenzo would go the extra mile to ensure that we are taken care of. Even though I would travel extensively, I was always assured and in peace knowing that I could rely on Angelina and Lorenzo to be there in case my family needed them for anything. Angelina is such a friendly and cheerful person and her 'angel' like demeanor compliments her name perfectly. She is very efficient and very quick in solving any issues. Lorenzo is "the man" of the property and someone who is always there with his cheerful smile and friendly wave of hand. He is strolling around the property even after hours checking on security as well as any issues of the property. Sometimes it makes you wonder whether he even gets time to take a break. I like many others always make it a point to stop by and chat with both of them whenever I see them. Thank you Brooklake for keeping up the standards by hiring such gems like Angelina and Lorenzo! I've been living at Brooklake Apartments for about a year and a half now and might i say i've never lived at a better community than here. The living conditions here are better than anywhere in the area for the price. The units are in great condition and some are even remodeled with nice laminate flooring. The grounds of the complex are absolutely beautiful, with lush greenery, streams running through, and two awesome pools to relax in. With all of that said, my favorite part about living at Brooklake is the Office Staff. The Manger here, Aurelia, is the most kind, understanding, and helpful person i've ever had the pleasure of knowing in the rental industry. She will go the extra mile for any of her tenants, even after hours. Just the other day, my girlfriend left her phone in the community room and after the office had closed, she personally delivered it to my apartment. That's just one of many examples of how she is here for her community and truly caress about her people. So, where do I actually begin with this review? Should I start with talking about the roaches, the sketchy maintenance team (except lorenzo), the even sketcher property management company, or with incompetent leasing office (excluding angelina)? We moved from across the country in Aug 2020, I reached out to rent a 2 bedroom apartment from Brooklake, received photos, signed the lease. My boyfriend and roommate are military. They went to the property to pay the security deposit, and discovered the apartment we were given was not the one we received photos of. Classic bait and switch but wasn't much we can do since the lease was signed. Once we moved in, we immediately had issues with the maintenance team. One employee in specific wired a outlet backwards and almost caused an electrical fire. The main breaker to the apartment switched off outside preventing it. The same individual rummaged through our personal belongings which we had to file a formal complaint with the leasing office with. We were charged more than 1 months rent with an active duty military member in home which is a violation of California state law. I made numerous complaints about roaches being in the apartment which was never taken care of. My boyfriends car was broken into and damaged at the property. Conveniently, the cameras were "turned off" the night of the break in after a small disagreement with the leasing office the day prior over our SERVICE ANIMAL. Thankfully, we reached the end of our lease and moved out. But that was the icing on the cake dealing with brooklake. We requested in writing to be present for any and all move out inspections. The leasing office manager originally tried to just have me write that down on a napkin along with a forwarding address instead of an actual form. We conducted our move out inspection with Lorenzo (he's great, sucks he works for such a crappy place), he stated in writing that there was no damage anywhere in the apartment, aside of a small hole in the bathroom wall (smaller than a quarter) that occurred from the lock on the door punching through the sheet rock since brooklake failed to put a door stop on the bathroom door. We pulled up the carpets with Lorenzo that day, and there was not a single stain anywhere which was also documented in photos, videos, and on the move out inspection. About a month passes, we received a check for our security deposit. They returned 470$ out of 1980$ and claimed there was "pet damages". Interesting, since there was no damages recorded the day we move out during the inspection. Not only was this a blatant lie, my "pet" is my boyfriends service animal. The animal is extremely trained and hasn't had a single accident since he was 9 weeks old inside. Monica was USELESS in trying to explain why they kept the 1500$ out of the security deposit. I promptly filed a case with small claims court to deal with this matter. The leasing office manager showed up and was extremely unprofessional and unprepared. She claimed "there was cobwebs" in the "oven that had to be cleaned and the apartment had to be repainted" along with "pet damages" so that's why they kept the 1500$ and only returned 470$. The judge had to explain to them that they cannot kept the deposit for cobwebs and painting. The judged ruled in favor of us and they were forced to return our deposit that they illegal withheld in the first place. They refused to settle in mediation, and they also refused to settle for less than what was eventually ordered by the judge. Monica is EXTREMELY unpleasant to deal with. Arela (was moved to a different location because of how she treated the renters) but still works for mesa management was absolutely the most unprofessional person I have ever interacted with. The new leasing manager is also horrible to deal with. I feel bad for Angelina (the senior leasing director) that she has to work with the others in the leasing office. Again, I have proof of every single situation mentioned above in this review. I hope anyone reading this, just picks a different place to live. read more

No, no, and no. This is a cute place that I drove by and was considering moving to. However, after looking at the website for availabilty, the website said to call the leasing office. I therefore called and left 2 messages over the course of a week, but nobody returned my calls. Since nobody was returning my calls, we decided to stop by the leasing office one day and the guy who "helped" us was very rude and kept on telling us that we should have checked the website. When I told him that I HAD checked the website, it said to call the leasing office, and nobdy was returning my calls, he said that we had checked the wrong website... But then he looked and was like "oh yeah, it's not there" but continued to be rude to us. No apology and continued rudeness. OMG the customer service here is so awful, I can't even imagine what it would be like to be an actual tenant. read more

I have lived at Brooklake for over 5 years. The grounds are immaculate. Management does such a tremendous job ensuring that there are beautiful flowers and plants. Angelina is the first person you see when you walk in the office. She is always friendly , smiley and ready to help. I will miss living there but couldn't pass up the opportunity to live closer to my granddaughter. read more

UPDATE: The maintenance staff is by far the best I've experienced now living at a few different apartments. They get things done when requested. We've never had issues with our upstairs neighbors which is a major plus. The staff throws annual Halloween events for the family which is really sweet for the kids & allows you to get to know your neighbors. read more

Me and my family have been her for a year now and we would like to share our thoughts and feelings about our time here..we love how quiet and comfortable it is here ..we have had a problem with our stove about 6 months ago and our dish washer,but both were fixed by Alonzo the next day and havnt had a problem after that..there is alot of trees and well maintained grounds along with poop bags for dogs everywhere so if you have a pet its really convenient..honestly this is a great place to live and all of the office ladies and maintenance all have great attitudes and ready to help...my families experience has been great!! read more

My family & I have lived at Brooklake Apartments for 3+ years. It used to be a really nice complex, with mostly really nice people. The rent is now over $2000 for a small 2 bedroom, a majority of the new residents are shady, the rules are ridiculous (ie kids can't play on the grass), previous neighbors have had cars broken intoand we've had a number of small thefts. We've had an entire load of laundry stolen out of the dryer, an entire new bottle of laundry detergent stolen from our laundry basket, a strange man (who we later found out is a resident) standing outside our bedroom window, staring in at 5am, and now this morning we find that my sons brand new bike, which was locked up, stolen from our carport. There is frequent cigarette smoke coming in our home from neighbors, frequent marijuana smell, and new neighbors that have multiple people coming and going at all hours of the night. We moved here in 2015 and felt safe and at home. That is not the case anymore. The 3 stars given are for Angelina and Lorenzo. They both are very friendly. Lorenzo is so helpful and always willing to stop what he's doing to fix whatever you need. read more

Ugh where to start truthfully save your money and rent elsewhere, this is like the south central of la habra!!! When we got the tour of the place the manger made it seem like it was a safe community said they have security and a load of bullshit just to get anyone stuck on a lease here.. One month into living here my car got broken into I didn't leave any personal items but my windows got smashed I went to the office and told the manger on site that my car got broken into her response was " oh I'm sorry well don't you have an alarm on your car to alert you" like wtf type of response is that and how would I hear my car going off if my unit was in the middle of the complex!!!! I called the cops and they told me my car was the 3rd one to get broken into that same night and they spoke with management as well. After doing my report to the cops I went back to the office furious and told them why didn't they let me know my car was the 3rd to the vandalized that same night!! She stayed quiet and didn't say anything I went as far and to continue Mesa management for the false advertisement of security patrolling and the camera just being a coy because apparently "they don't work" the manager ended up post flyers all around to complex for a bogus neighborhood watch!! months later my husbands truck gets towed away while we were take Costco groceries out he was gone for 10 min 15 at the most helping me when he went back our truck was gone yet I've seen other people In this same community leave their cars over night where they don't belong. Couple weeks after that one of our new neighbors got all 4 rims/wheels taken from their brand new car!!!! What did management do nothing they said the cameras don't work and they can't do anything about it! Their rims/wheels were worth over 4K. Management didn't want to help them at all. Couple weeks after that I put in a work order I called the office to ask if they did my work order the male said "umm I don't know I'm the only one here" mind you I have motion cameras in my living room so I can see when someone enters. He said yea it's been fix I look at my camera and he lied just to hang up the phone!!! Also if you want to smell marijuana in the mornings or evenings this is the place for you. The entire complex will reek of it.! Parking is a nightmare there is no visitor parking the THREE spots we have for visitors is always being used up by the units that have 2 cars!!! It's not even used for visitors. And there is NO street parking unless you are trying to J-walk on a Main Street!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY and go elsewhere! ZERO STARS!!!! away at all cost!!!!! Moved into this property and provided 2 months of rent for deposit as requested. Moved out due to an emergency after 8 months. Received a letter from the Manager of this property as well Mesa Management who runs the company indicating we owed a ridiculous amount of money. While living there maintenance was never fixed properly. Had to call at least three times to get them to even come then the items would break the next day! Called the office after the yard was growing up and was told by (Donna)someone named "Bob" did the yards there and would be in contact with me to schedule cleaning. No one called. They have a total of 3 disabled spots for over how many apartments? Parking is ridiculous there is never any parking. One car got towed and had to pay over 400 to get it back! Neighbors upstairs smoked weed and came through the vents as well as outside. Even after complaining as my daughter is asthmatic there was no improvement. I also have a dog that is professionally trained and would not defecate in the house yet the management company is claiming pet stains. People Parked in the assigned parking spot so some nights had NO WHERE to park and had to park blocks away! When addressed the management just shook it off as no big deal. My deposit wasn't even calculated right in the end! Do Yourself a favor and stay away!! Don't believe these other reviews because they are probably fake. Take a drive by at night and see where any guest or anyone could park and you will see what I mean. I will be excising my legal rights and will see them in court. Btw the manager Aurelia is a disgrace to the company. I have contacted Mesa management directly to lodge a formal complaint against her. She directly called me and my daughter a liar and said that she has seen us several times which in fact we have never seen this lady before! Update: our case was heard in court and the judge made a judgement against this company To pay for wrongfully withholding the deposit. I have been WAITING to leave this review. I just moved out last week. If I could give these apartments 0 stars I would. The only good thing there was Angelina and Lorenzo. When I moved in my apartment was gross. The maintenance person who was NOT Lorenzo did half ass jobs around my apartment. My blinds were dirty and dusty. When I asked for them to be replaced, they didn't even put the right sizes of the blinds. I had long and short blinds in my bedroom (facepalm) I had paint all over the kitchen floor, the bathroom ceilings were stained. The fan in the master bathroom never worked. I put in so many requests to be done in that place and sometimes my claims were closed without even working on my claim. And the whole them not giving you your deposit is true. We gave them a $1300 deposit and they are trying to say that we owe them money??? Our apartment was one of the cleanest. They even used my apartment during the apartments selling. They totally try to take all your money any chance they get. I am so disappointed. They are liars. I referred my dad there and never got my money for recommending. My dad had medications and some personal items stolen from his apartment by one of the maintenance men previously there and they end up treating him like crap and have him moved out. We've been living here for about 4 years this year and love calling this place home. It's affordable for a 2 bedroom, location is amazing, and staff is always so helpful. There's things you can't really control, like annoying, rude neighbors that we undoubtedly have had bad luck with, but that could be the case in any complex. Really wish we had our own private laundry and that there was more guest parking, but we got so lucky with our place. It's nice and cozy, the view from our balcony is amazing, and like I mentioned before the staff is so sweet and caring. Love calling this place home. read more

I have been living at Brooklake Apartments for 4 years and there is a reason for that; I feel like they are my family. Angelina was the first person to welcome me to California. She is always so friendly and upbeat even when she has her own issues going on. She never lets things impact how she treats those who walk through the door. Arelia has also been amazing! She is very responsive to my concerns and the same goes for Michelle. All of these ladies are all very helpful. Lastly, I can't forget Lorenzo...he is so awesome. He always has a smile on his face and is always ready to help put a smile on yours too. Living at Brooklake has been an awesome experience. My only feedback is that I wish the hot tub worked more often than not, that people who don't pick up their poop could be fined & I have noticed an increase of dogs including large dogs which makes me nervous walking my little dogs. For the money and the amount of space, I would highly recommend Brooklake. read more

My husband and I were looking for a pet friendly apartment with a yard and Brooklake met our purposes. Searching was really hard but I found Brooklake and contacted Angelina that night. She actually responded and was very accommodating. I had a lot of questions and Angelina was nice enough to answer me at all times of the day. The staff at Brook lake are welcoming such as Aurelia, who gave us a good deal. In the end, my husband and I signed a lease and moved in. Parking is provided for residents but guest parking is always filled so it is hard to have visitors. Still there are alot of amenities here such as pool, sauna, exercise room, and online payments. We are new residents but we like it here so far. The staff here is great, especially Angelina, and we hope it continues. read more

Sad to say goodbye to our apartment (my husband and I). Brooklake was our home for 1 year. Location and Apartment: -This location was great as it was about 5 minutes from Brea, 10 minutes from downtown Fullerton and close to the mall, grocery stores and restaurants. -The neighbors were friendly and I always felt safe! It was always very quiet. -The property was always well kept and I love the water stream that was by the pool/management office. Staff: -Ariella was very sweet and tried to help in any ways that she could. When we had encountered a smell in our apartment (not sure what it was) she was on top of calling out pest control to take a look. -Lorenzo was always so helpful (he's the maintenance employee) and is such a hard worker! read more

I really wish I could rate this apartment as negative stars. By far the worst apartment I've been at. The apartment complex is gated and has assigned parking and only the residents/management can call to have the car towed if it does not belong there. However this is a LIE! The apartment management has invited Southside Towing to come in randomly and check out the site, however the management laid out rules for Southside Towing. If the vehicle is parked with the hazards for more than 20 mins then the car will need to be towed. That was the case for me. The tow truck driver observed the vehicle from 12:10pm and took my vehicle at 12:15pm. The manager from Brooklake Apartments was very upset and said they never should of took my vehicle to begin with. Management really does not care about residents when it comes to noise making after 10:30pm. Management allows kids to run upstairs all night till 4am and not do a damn thing about it. I highly recommend you research ANOTHER apartments before EVER choosing this shitty place!!! read more

For anyone looking to rent here... DONT DO IT. We have lived here since September 25th only TWO months and the experience here has been awful... the main manager, older white lady with gray hair who is extremely rude AF towed my bfs car from the guest parking when they said it was fine ... then they gave him parking #13 and had him sign for his parking spot .... he got home & not even the fourth day of having the parking spot there is was a truck there and guess who's truck it was? the older rude af gray haired managers truck ... my husband left a note saying they couldn't park there that was his parking and I guess she got upset and tore up his contract , claimed he scratched her truck and the cops were called . Everyone in that office pointed fingers at him and said there was never a contract for that parking and that he can't park there so don't move here you can't have parking they only give one spot. You can't have company over cause of no parking ... even though there is a lot of empty spots. This should have been a senior citizen apartment complex only. Really loved it here at first but this is just too much crap the main manager has a problem being polite. I had a previous comment here and they made me delete it.. there was evidence of the parking spot and now they want to say it's not there ... real nice. read more

My husband and I lived here for 2 years and it was a great experience. We considered staying for another year but purchased a home. The apartment was larger than others and had a big closet in the living room for storage- pretty spacious even for a single bedroom. We even had two patios! There's two pools and both are kept clean throughout the year. The management team here is very nice and accommodating- when things go wrong they are quick to fix it, which is all you can ask for with apartment living. They are always friendly too! Super convenient with stores around within walking distance and close to DTF which was always fun. There's even a path to a lake just around the corner for a nice walk. It's gated so that makes you feel a little extra safe. Overall, has everything you need/could ask for. read more

This is a beautiful place to live but I would look elsewhere. A) it's pricey. It's a pretty place, but not worth what it costs. B) NO PARKING! 1 spot per bedroom so if your a couple you are SOL. I waited 9months to be able to pay $45 a month for a second spot. C) The part I'm currently most frustrated with, they put you in collections after you've left- Even if you have paid. I've confirmed multiple times that I've paid in full and yet I'm still in collections. "They are working on it" but as I've been dealing with this for several weeks I'm not sure they are actually doing anything. Update- after 3 weeks of polite phone calls I had to literally stand in their office and waste my own time and demand they fix the issue. Corporate is just as useless as this property! Brooklake has been my home for 2 years. Thankfully my lease has ended and I will be moving out. These apartments are expensive, which is fine if the quality was up to par. The apartment building is built very poorly. You can hear every conversation your neighbors have( even snoring and intimate time). The environment here has recently gotten very bad. My neighbors recently had there car broken into. The homeless population that gathers around the apartment building has increased, especially at night. And lastly, the leasing staff. When you initially come in, they will be extremely pleasant. Even go out of there way to be friendly to you but be warned... the second you sign that lease everything will change. Management will be so unprofessional and rude. For the price and customer service you get here at Brooklake, you can find better. If I could give zero reviews for this place I would. The manager is a vindictive woman who will do anything to make your life miserable and does not keep her word and rips up legal signed documents. Along with that the parking situation is a complete nightmare, there is no street parking and management says there is a waitlist for their residents for one extra parking. As household with 2 working adults where are we supposed to park our 2nd car? Our problem apparently when we are more than willing to pay the extra fee. Consider another location to live! We lived here for two years! This was my first apartment. I attended college at Cal State Fullerton so the commute was not bad at all (maybe 15-20 minutes, based on traffic). My fiancé and I absolutely loved this place, mainly because of management and its location. However it is on the older side, and a little outdated. Maintenance here is wonderful and super friendly! Lorenzo would always attend to our needs there very same day or next. Like I said before management here is great! For this being our first apartment, Angelina made this process for us super easy!!! She is like no other!! Very approachable, easy going, and funny! The only reason why I wouldn't give this five stars is because the apartments are on the older side. read more

There are many downfalls to these apartments... first off the rent is really high here and every year they significantly increase it. I guess this can be excepted but for all the issues this place has you minus will go take your money else where and rent from anywhere else bc it's just not worth it. The parking here is really bad, like your guests will never be able to find a spot. Also, the homeless issue. Unfortunately I have noticed that recently the homeless population is really getting bad in this apartment complex and with that comes along more trash, cars being broken into and lots of marjiuana and cigarette smoke. Like one of the other yelp reviewers has mentioned, I have also noticed a lot of shady new neighbors and yup, even I have had my car port broken into. Thankfully we kept nothing valuable in there but still, the invasion of privacy sucks. The customer service, I was very disappointed in management here, they really don't want to help you resolve issues that may come up like leaks within your sink or noise complaints you file. The only positive to this apartment is the maintenance man, he is so friendly and overly helpful. I believe he lives in the building because I often see him walking around, always working so hard. It's really too bad that the office staff isn't as great as him. read more
