I've lived here for 3 years now and I love this place. Feels like home, the community here is so nice and kind. I've never known or spoken to so many of my neighbors before. Hmm there's a lot to say about these apartments, looks are very deceiving let's say that. They are spacious give them that. But our cars were broken into among other residents, nothing was done and we had our cars parked in the garage.. no security guards are really around. They had cameras but none of them worked among the times our cars got broken into. There was a lot of things wrong in our apartment and they took care of it but didn't get it done the proper way.. beware also take pictures upon moving out, they like to add things to it in getting more money.. this place is crooked and not at all what they seem, now the residents are amazing and friendly. I would leave no star if it would let me. But screw this place and should be ashamed of themselves. Management and corporate sucks here as well. read more

My roommate and I lived at Idylwood apartments for over 2 years. In that time there is not a single thing I can think of to complain about. The residents are a mix of couples, small families, and the occasional student or two. It is quiet, well maintained, convenient to nearby universities, local businesses, parks, grocery stores, both downtown Fullerton & Brea. The office manager, Cheryl, is truly a gem. She is very kind, quick to respond to any requests you may have, and genuinely cares about your satisfaction with the place. Additionally, Robert (the head maintenance guy on site) is of the same caliber as Cheryl. You will see him out & about daily taking care of the facility, he always greets you with a friendly wave and "hello." The apartment was clean when we moved in, never had any issues with bugs. Has central AC (which to me is a MUST in the north OC area) and laundry conveniently on site. There were never any concerns with parking, safety, nor theft. The pool is well maintained and has a hot tub and pool house that is open to residents to reserve for special occasions. We only moved away from Idylwood apartments because we recently graduated and will be relocating to different areas in Southern California... I wish we could take this apartment and the great staff with us. 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended, if there is availability grab it before it's gone, you won't be disappointed. read more

Consider this rating 3.5 stars. There's a lot to like about these apartments, but they are not perfect. Let's start with the good. This is for the One Bedroom we had and the apartment complex as a whole. 1. The area is awesome. It's not super close to anything, but with a good walk you can get to a lot of stuff. Definitely within a short drive to everything you need (park, grocery store, restaurants, etc). We loved walking around, even at night, and never feared that we would be mugged or something. I could leave the door unlocked and packages on the front door and not fear. There are cameras everywhere, which is freaky, but I guess slightly comforting. They also have night guards for extra security. It's usually pretty quiet, minus some loud neighbors, but even they shut up before 10pm usually. 2. The apartment itself is overall pretty nice, though a bit small. We live upstairs and love the vaulted ceilings and HUGE balcony. Nice carpeting and the cabinets and doors are sturdy. We LOVE our view. It's got a forest/cabin vibe to it. Lots of trees and greenery. 3. The staff is great. If you need something fixed or have a general concern, they will address it in a timely manner. It used to be difficult to get a hold of the manager, but that seems to be easier now. Sheryl, the manager, is very nice and helpful. It's nice that she remembers you and knows you by name. 4. They pay for everything except electricity. The rent is kinda steep, but you pay for the area and having a cheap utility bill is nice. Although... 1. In the year we lived there, they found a reason to come into our apartment well over 10 times. It seems like this place is constantly under renovation. We appreciate them wanting to make sure everything is good, but it borders on serious obtrusiveness. They redid the parking area and everyone had to park on the street. Major inconvenience and it happened more than once.s 2. The walls. My god are they thin. I can hear my neighbor yawn and sneeze and practically everything else. One of our neighbors is a particular (badword)hole so it can get kind of loud. Hope that you get quiet and considerate neighbors without kids. 3. The trash, it overfloweth. The one near our apartment especially gets crammed with trash and people just leave it out. It gets gross. 4. There is NEVER guest parking inside. Residents take up the spots and hold them with a death grip so our guests always had to park on the street. Not a big deal since there is plenty of street parking, but it would be nice for them to be able to park inside the actual complex since Fullerton tows after 2am. Also, someone parked in our spot once and we were pretty much told nothing would be done. Don't expect ANY of the parking rules to actually be enforced. They simply don't. 5. Unless something changes soon, you will never have a decent shower at the these apartments. The pressure is always below par and at first never got hot. They since fixed it and it helped a bit, but still not that great. 6. Kitchen is very tiny. If you like to cook (which we do), this isn't the kitchen for you. 7. Don't expect the manager to be there at the times that she says she will. Unless you specifically tell her to wait, she will not. And recently, the hours have been all over the place. "Mon and Wed 9-4, Thurs 10 -2, Every full moon excluding the equinox 8-5, etc." If the time is until 5pm, she will be gone by 4:30pm. This has happened to us many times. The cons are not huge deals, but don't let the other reviews make you think this place is a magical wonderland. I would definitely recommend these apartments to friends, but make sure they know the problems it has beforehand. Still, one of the better apartments in the area. read more

I have to agree with the last two reviews. I have been living from apartment complex to apartment complex for over a decade. I am sure I've lived in almost a dozen now and I would say I have a pretty good idea of what makes a good apartment complex. This place is quite beautiful. It is a "smaller" complex than most, 80 units. It seems very quiet and almost serene. It's true about the fruit trees. Outside my window there is a lemon tree and there are several others in the complex, as well as tangerine trees. In fact, there is a peach tree in a beautiful courtyard that is adjacent to the pool and spa. Seems there are many families that live here and has a nice community feel to this place. Parking is solid and there is even some guest parking. I believe you can additionally have guests park on the street in front of the complex (Brea Blvd.) as long as they leave before 2 a.m. (City of Fullerton law). The location of this place probably couldn't be better. It is walking distance to Coyote Hills golf course and a small shopping center. Seven blocks in either direction is downtown Fullerton or downtown Brea. Just far enough to not have to deal with noise or big crowds, but just close enough to have a quick drive (or maybe even a long walk) to very social areas. We've only been here a few weeks so far, but I have a great feeling we will be staying for years. Rent is not expensive compared to many places in Brea or Fullerton. If you're a quiet working professional or even a student who doesn't like loud apartment complexes, you should probably check this place out. Hope this helps! read more

This is the best apartment I have ever lived in, and I have lived in my fair share of apts! It's quiet, lots of families and everyone helps eachother out if needed (meaning there is communication between neighbors, everyone is friendly!) the staff is awesome, if theres ever a problem, they will take care of it! They have security patrol the area every night, the area is beautiful (right by coyote hill, you can even take a walk in the hills if you want and go jogging), the pool is clean, theres a pool table, ping pong table, the gardening is beautiful! (there are tangerine and lemon trees, free to take). I just loved these apartments, the rent is pretty decent for Brea/Fullerton area. Your walking distance from downtown fullerton, and downtown brea! read more

Beware!!! this complex asks to see your social security card!!!! as if he wants to use the card himself. Ever since John left this complex doesn't 'give' at all! You need or ask for something and they basically say "if you don't like it move". The keep going up up up in rent - who do they think we are - homeowners - If we could afford the rent they charge we could probably get a home. And I think they take advantage of mankind for their own profit. About 2 years ago they already had a profit each month of over 15K and then they go and raise the rent - I asked why and they said they were making consmetic changes - well when you come to the complex the plants are dead, the spa is green and the pool isn't clean. read more

I lived in these apartments for four plus years. Overall the experience has been positive. They are well maintained and the staff is pleasant. There has been times when they have rented to younger tenants who don't follow the rules such as posted hours for the pool. The manager handled the situation in a professional manner. Now time for the big BUT..... Don't get too comfortable living here though because for no apparent reason they may choose not to renew your lease and you will have to move. Because there is no automatic renewal clause they are legally able to do this without giving a reason. Believe me, I checked with attorney. read more

Very nice apartments and well maintained. Quick turnaround when something needed fixing. I lived there for two years and never had any issues. On-site laundry was the only thing that I would have to make note of, just because the security company would lock the laundry door and there was a few Saturdays that there was not access. read more

Before living in Idylwood Apts, I lived in apts owned by both small company and big corporate. My previous experience with those managements was horrible. They care nothing but grinding every penny out of you. Then I lived in a one bedroom apt at Idylwood for a little more than two years, which made me understand what a good apartment complex should be. Sheryl, the manager, takes good care of the tenants. Unlike the cheerleader ladies in other apartment offices, Sheryl greats you with genuine smiles, calls you by name and chats with you like a friend. She is professional, nice, helpful and fair. We needed an additional parking lot. She was frank about the shortage of parking lots up front before we signed the lease. Luckily a space came up couple of months after we moved in. We got the spot and that's it. No hassle. In contrast, the manager in my previous apartment Nogal Feliz owned by Arnel Management Company fooled us that tenants can park at guest parking, and have our car towed at our own cost. Robert, the other staff, always greets me with smile when I leave for work in the morning. They even told me about the strawberry around the pool. It's a small complex with 1 bd or 2 bd in a really nice neighborhood. Most tenants are working professionals or small families, with a few college students. Most people are very nice. We even made friends with the two neighbors next door. During our leases, there were indeed some college student neighbors who had loud parties nights after nights in weekdays, or a lady yelling at families at late night. But a note to that neighbor or a compliant to Sheryl should resolve it. It's convenient to everything including access to a good primary school (Sunny Hill?). 15 min bike distance to Fullerton Metro Station and downtown Fullerton. 5 min walk to Hillcrest Park and a baseball field. There is also a dirt trail near by for jogging, hiking or biking. Rooms, kitchen and bathroom are very spacious. I can do yoga in the bedroom. And the living room is ok to offer a short stay for two friends. I really liked the black marble counter top and the gas stove in the kitchen. We also get a big yard with a big lemon tree. We had a lot of fun planting veggies, flowers and small trees. Too bad couple of months before we moved out, they cut the lemon tree due to the concern of possible El Nino rains. Many palm trees in the complex were cut too. It could get noisy in the living room because our room is next to Brea Blvd. But the bedroom is quite. Rent was very reasonable since it includes most utilities, though the rent was going up at the time we were moving out. They don't charge general carpet cleaning if you've lived there for 6 month+. If I have to pick one thing I didn't like, it would be the thin walls. I could hear neighbors sneezing in the bedroom or talking in the kitchen, the loud water sound in the bathroom pipe, the kid upstairs pounding the floor, people walking by the window of bedroom...But we got used to it. We tried to keep our noise down and luckily the neighbor next door is doing the same －not that kid upstairs though :(. But this doesn't stop me to rank it as the best apartments I've lived in. read more

My wife and I moved into Idylwood complex five years ago, and we were never given a reason to leave. In five years we have only run into a few issues with our unit (broken garbage disposal, noisy neighbors, sticky lock on the door), and management alleviated all of them within days. The complex is situated in a great location but is built so as to feel quaint and homey. We have long loved the layout of our one bedroom, particularly with our green view of all the trees on Skyline through our living room, kitchen, and back patio; the vaulted ceilings add a lot to the feel of the unit! But the real prize in Idylwood has been the management. Since Cheryl came on 3-4 years ago we have always had a great relationship with management, and she is always eager to assist with any issues; no haggling, no repeated phone calls to get her attention, no ignored emails. The rent has always stayed competitively priced with the area. All in all, we could not have asked for a better unit, complex, or landlord, and it's why we stuck around all these years. The apartment community was generally quite but i had the worst neighbor above me. This apartment was constructed in 1970s i believe, which means it is old and cracky. I had to hear a guy peeing above my room(ew), children running around, opening and closing the windows and doors every time! The water was so loud that the morning was always awaken by the neighbor who goes out early in the morning 6am. All daily life noises made me and my family underwent stressful. I mean, people do make noises and thats how life should be, but this apartment goes beyond what i could understand. If you are looking for somewhere the least noise of an apartment, please reconsider. this was the worst choice i made for a year contract. read more
