No apt complex is perfect. You will have nice neighbors and bad ones. Management can be a hit or miss, but I think we got lucky with Tamarack Woods. Is it luxury? No. Is there water issues including shut offs? Yeah but I get it, the building is old and management does their best to notify us via email and is very reply when we do call or email the office. I've lived in other apartments that were better and much worse, but for the location and the quiet that Tamarack Woods gives, I would recomend it. I wanted to leave a review because I saw people were complaining about roachess and other bugs. I've never had any issues but the one time I thought I saw a roach, they immediately had me on the list of treatments, and even showed me the report which helped a lott. I guess it depends on how people reoprt issues. read more

She's made the community feel even more welcoming, especially with all the thoughtful holiday gifts and giveaways. It truly made the holidays feel special here. This place is going downhill fast. New management is rude, cold and unapproachable. She could really benefit from some training on basic communication skills. Do not move here unless you want to be bombarded with emails reminding you to pay your rent, reminders of how to park your car, or listing all of the infractions that you can make to receive "a notice" (whatever that means) or face eviction. Management hires contractors that will tell residents that "they think" they can fix the issue.... Very reassuring. There are undocumented pit bulls that roam off leash, children riding their bikes unsupervised in the streets, and multiple families living in single units. Sadly, many tenants are not renewing their leases because of the poor management. Fortunately, we found a new place to live across the street in Tamarack Gardens. This new complex is not only cheaper, it has better amenities, more square footage and helpful staff. Think twice before moving to Tamarack Woods. read more

Really unpleasant complex to live in! Don't let the move in special fool you. Their always shutting off the water because of frequent emergency plumbing issues its ridiculous. They have residents with Pitbull dogs walking the complex with no leashes! Property has many bugs especially in the summer you cant walk your dogs or have them on your porch because they'll catch fleas right away, there's so many spiders and other unpleasant bugs. Some residents are very loud and disturbing you can hear them as your walking by. You have to call the tow company because there's other tenants guests that will park in your assigned carport! New management is constantly bombarding you with emails about when the rent is due and if you don't pay at the time your supposed to shell send it to legal. Some neighbors would be out in their porch smoking weed at night. Think twice about moving to this complex super expensive and its such a poor quality of living here! read more

It's getting very annoying living here on the daily basis I can't sleep or enjoy my mornings because of constant blow drying outside when it's not even needed. Everyday theres some type of gardening and it's seriously annoying and not necessary I work night shift and graveyard I can't even sleep in my own home because they stay regulating the premises when it's not required. Blow drying all the particles in the air is making my allergies kick in so horrible, I hate it here it really bothers me that it's constant instead of once a week, and I know im not the only one that's thinks this is annoying here. We've been dealing with a pest control company for the past 6 months, which was originally brought in by management here. The company they brought in have proven themselves to be complete amateurs throughout the entire time they've been treating our unit. A simple question such as "do you know when you'll be done?" Is met with the same response from both sides, which was usually "oh we'll have to talk to them about it". We've received a notice to remove items from our patio or face termination of contract, even though the only reason they were out there was because of the clutter created due to their inefficient work with pest control. We've also received pamphlets from them telling us about 2 other complexes that we could potentially move into. This is not only extremely embarrassing on management and pest controls side, but a slap in the face to us as long time residents. This situation has caused emotional stress to our family, and has led us to put off having many friends or family over due to sheer embarrassment of the state of our home. Management does not show any concern about the length of treatment , and proceeds to allow pest control to treat our unit, all the while it's doing nothing but causing stress to us, and has left our home in a clutter. So the manager ended up reaching out to me after this review but I was only given a paper to fill out for "reasonable accommodations". Even on the phone it seemed like she wanted me to be okay with her response & thought everything would be good. Honestly I can see how it would be hard to construct even if on a hill but it is not impossible to build a ramp by the stairs on tamarack Ave. Take out the bushes & grass area & you can easily build a ramp. Also the water/plumbing is constantly turned off without warning. It happened on Sunday to us when we have small children so we couldn't even wash their baby bottles when we had to travel somewhere. Plumbing "emergencies" tend to happen often here. How about just having it COMPLETELY fixed instead of temporarily? Because that's what it seems like all they do. read more

I realize most people write a review after they leave, I'm writing the review before I leave in hopes when my review is read, readers don't think it's because of a deposit issue. My first year here I had a leak from the upstairs apartment (sewage). Maintenance used my personal towels to clean it up, then threw the dirty towels in my bath tub. I only have one bathroom, and Western Management would not pay for a hotel while my apartment was being cleaned up. I will upload pictures. Then I had a wall leak for the entire time I lived here which just finally got fixed, but it was a fight to get a hotel from them, and they wanted me to sing a release of liability form which I didn't do. The repairs took an entire week to complete imaging living in my apartment with that and being exposed to rotten wood, mold, and asbestos. I have picture of that too. Also if you or a family member has a handicap, this place is not handicap friendly. No raps unless you go to the office from the street, otherwise you need to climb stairs, or go threw the parking lot. Which is out of the way. There are only 2 handicap spots, and they continually allow non handicap people to park there or block off one of the spots for landscaping. I have pictures for that as well. Yet I'm certain upon leaving here in March they will find a way to nickel and dime every penny of my deposit in order not to pay me anything even after all I've been through here. Time will tell, I will update Yelp then. Also everyone signs a lease here, but the rules only apply to few. City ordinance does not allow for propane BBQ, but some tenants here have them. You are only allowed patio furniture and plants here on your patio which is fine for me, but that rules only apply for a few. You can walk the property and see so many infractions, but if your not in favor with the management staff you are singled out on every rule, but not the other tenants. Please don't park over the line in your parking spot, that's a major violation, but go ahead and have a propane tank on your patio, totally logical. Now for the laundry. The machines are constantly broken and it takes weeks to get them fixed. Lets move on the the constant water and gas being shut off for repairs, and I mean constant. I could go on and on but most readers don't like a novel. Please do your research before you lease at any apartment complex, but if there are several negative reviews, then maybe there is a reason. read more

Not sure if it's incompetence, ignorance, or what, but her attitude is very unbecoming. Not traits you want in someone who is the face of the property for tenants/new prospective tenants. What a disgusting place to live. I lived here for two years and you'd be surprised to know that most of the complex receive housing vouchers because they're in this country illegally. There are literally 10 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. Not to mention constant gas leaks and the water being shut off every other week. Absolutely atrocious place to live. read more

I moved here with my girlfriend and our two kids. We signed a year lease. After that lease was up we extended for another 6 months. When it was time to either resign or move, we decided to move somewhere else due to the property raising our rent $110.00. As we found a new place we were informed that the manager who no longer works for them made a mistake and accidentally extended our lease for 7 months not 6. After trying to plead my case, we were shut down and have to pay the money for a broken lease. Poor management. I suggest if you plan on moving here carefully read your agreement. Another reason for us wanting to move was the amount of rude kids that our children were playing with. Absolutely no parental control. These kids run all around the complex cussing and even go as far as asking for money. Recently we found out some kids were charging other kids money in order to play with them. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. I then find out a child who lives here put another child in a trash can. If your looking for a nice place for your kids, this isn't a friendly one. We loved our time here at Tamarack Woods! Gage was extremely helpful from day 1! Every time I went into the office I got a welcoming greeting and concern if there was an issue. Maintenance staff is friendly and efficient. I had an issue with our dishwasher but Gage and the maintenance staff were always helpful trying to get it resolved. We ended up leaving the area but our time at Tamarack woods was great. Rent is affordable and the grounds are quiet and green! I wish they had a gym and a jacuzzi but the grounds are so peaceful it makes up for it! Thanks again for everything! read more

Whoever gets my former unit will have pretty new carpet and a new toilet. I'll get to that later. Where to start? The area. It's in a quiet area in Brea, by the cemetery, and it's by the freeway and a Von's. Simple enough. Now for the place itself. There are people constantly parking in the fire zone and handicap spot, and I've seen management and maintenance walk right by it without batting an eye. They simply don't care. The former manager, Lorena, was super nice. If we had an issue, it was (usually) dealt with quickly. The new manager is horrible. She is quite possibly one of the rudest, impersonal person I've met. She looks and acts like everyone she deals with murdered her family. When I dropped off my keys she said a total of probably ten words. No thank you for staying with us, not a simple "how was your stay?" Nothing. Just "you're good to go." Whatever. Now to the fun part. One morning I went downstairs and heard flowing water. The whole downstairs was flooded. With sewage. I turned the water off on the toilet and stared in horror as feces filled water flowed all over. Turns out the sewage pipe under the building was clogged, and every time a neighbor flushed it came up into our bathroom. After an emergency call to the hotline, a maintenance guy, Martin, came over. He didn't even act surprised. He told us the trees in the area were ruining the pipes, and that "usually it's the back building that has the issues. Not this one." Awesome. After a few hours the carpet guys come, and Lorena tells them to get the sewage water out and then shampoo the carpet. Yes, she wanted them to simply vacuum the carpet that absorbed poo water. After about half an hour, she was finally convinced it was a health hazard and allowed new carpet. We were displaced for about four days. They offered to pay for a hotel (at around 80 a night I believe) but both my roommate and I had family nearby so we stayed there. When we arrived back we asked to have our rent prorated for the days we were not there, and to be reimbursed for our damaged products. Neither happened. They also "sanitized" but we later found out they didn't even clean under the fridge. Our toilet upstairs also had numerous issues. Even if you flushed a single square of toilet paper, it had a 50% chance of clogging. After about SIX maintenance trips they said they'd replace the toilet. A week passed after the supposed install date and then it was finally installed. The day finally came where we moved out. I had four people spending the whole day cleaning. Still got charged $130 for cleaning, and also got charged for carpet cleaning and shampoo, although we cleaned the carpet as well. This place is a joke. read more

Bernadette and Alia were always helpful and sweet and they're a great duo. If we needed something, they were quick to take care of it. So happy to have called Tamarack Woods our home for the past 3 years. The complex is conveniently located near the 57 freeway and also situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Our 2 bedroom/1 bath was comfortable with ample storage space. Our unit was situated right in front of the pool and a few steps away from the laundry room (machines were recently upgraded, which we liked!!) Whenever we submitted requests for maintenance, they were completed in a timely manner, sometimes even on the same day! We noticed that maintenance would frequently clean and tidy up the landscaping, parking lot and pool area, even on the weekends. The complex is pet friendly with areas that our dog could use as well as bag dispensers/pet waste receptacles located nearby. We were lucky enough to have friendly/respectful neighbors, which was a plus!! Aside from enjoying our actual apartment, we really appreciated our manager, Kassie. She was so helpful whenever we had questions or concerns and would address them immediately. Her friendly and kind demeanor was one of the things we enjoyed and loved about Tamarack Woods. She would also stop to say hello and chat for a little if you ever ran into her walking around the apartment grounds, something that is rare with apartment managers. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here :) the only reason we are leaving is because we purchased a home closer to work. read more
