Had a hard time deciding on a rating. The food is good, the staff is good, the pricing is high but that's Birmingham. My issue is the inconsistency between the posted price and what was actually charged. The menu board advertised my order at one price, while my receipt reflected a higher total. Not a huge difference on one transaction, but over time it adds up. Especially considering the pricing is displayed on a digital board that should be easy to keep updated. At a certain point, charging customers more than the posted price stops feeling like an oversight and starts feeling misleading. read more

I was looking forward for this place to open. It replaced the bagel factory café that used to be there for many years. They had their opening day on Saturday, I was passing by going to cars and coffee so decided to grab some bagels to try. Unfortunately I realized that I don't have any money or cc while placing the order but they were so kind and still gave me 2 bagels and cream cheese for free. I came back later to grab more bagels (I like to freeze them and reheat at home so they are like fresh). Got 6 different ones and by Monday tried 3 flavors, all were delicious. They are pretty big too and I hope this is not the initial incentive and they will keep them like that. Been waiting for this place to open, because Birmingham is underserved for authentic bagels and east coast cuisine. Being a Jersey Boy, this is fun for me. I got the salt bagel and a poppyseed bagel. This is my nearby bagel place, so I come here regularly. I generally think the bagels are good quality, and (unlike other bagel shops) they keep a decent selection in stock for longer than the first few hours of the day - a very good thing. I was disappointed to learn on a recent visit that they are charging extra for customers to pay using a credit card. I was able to avoid this charge, as I fortunately had enough cash to pay for my dozen bagels. Still, I did not love the credit-card charge. As far as this Yelper is concerned, accepting credit cards (which I know has a cost for merchants) ought to be considered a price of doing business. Unfortunately, this charge is becoming more common. Other than that, I would recommend this establishment. Take away the credit-card charge, and my Yelp goes up to 4 - maybe 5! read more

We love everything about this place from their choice of different kinds of bagels to their options for breakfast and lunch, and even their cream cheese spreads! Just tried this place out this morning around 8:45 and it wasn't too busy for a walk in order but you can order ahead online! Big assortment of bagels, breakfast options, sandwiches and flavored cream cheese. They serve boars head meat so you know the sandwiches will be good. The everything bagel was really good, next time I'll ask for it extra toasted though, and I tried the strawberry cream cheese. The cream cheese was good but not a strong strawberry flavor and it was bright pink..I don't like when food is neon colored. We also got the Healthy Start breakfast sandwich which is Turkey, cheese, egg whites and it was really good! My husband thought he would save half but couldn't stop eating it haha They have a low carb bagel I'm curious to try out next and the other sandwiches ! The staff was attentive as soon as I walked in the door, and the sandwich was cooked fresh so it's not like in and out in 3 min but it was still fast for the quality served. I Walked in they literally just opened their doors and were still setting up. I planned to buy coffee and bagels for the office . They asked if I could come back in 15 minutes.( I couldn't because I had to clock in 5 minutes later and asked if they delivered ) They don't but said he would walk it down , which I thought was so amazing. I asked if I could pay then but registers were still uploading . He said I could pay over the phone later. 30 minutes later he arrived at our office with the bagels and coffee and said they were on the house . How awesome and thoughtful was that . I have sent a ton of our patients there since . On to the bagels we got two kinds blueberry and Asiago cheese. They were both amazing, super soft and delicious. The bagels are average and do not live up to the name 'Jersey'. I grew up in Jersey and it's nowhere close in taste and texture. The main reason for this poor review is that they use styrofoam' containers for everything. I cannot even fathom how many containers leave the premises in a day. It's irresponsible as a business owner to use them and there is no need to use them for a bagel simply because you think your customer wants a stupid pickle on the side. Wrap them in parchment paper and put them in a paper bag. If someone wants a side of potato salad or a pickle they are package that separately in a container. I used to go to the original location in Farmington almost every week for our Sunday family gatherings but after moving to Birmingham I was very happy to find this location down the street.
