    Garden veggie on everything bagel
    Anna V.

Good bagels and sandwich options - wish they had a vegan cream cheese! I wanted to go to a local bagel place, not a chain name, so came here specifically for breakfast. I like the menu offerings for lunch and other sandwiches, so will have to check them out next time! Got hubby his standard "bacon egg and cheese on everything" and they have a variety of cheese to choose from. It got two thumbs up; I got the garden veggie on everything, and an order of hash browns (3 in an order), which my kiddo loved, as they were hot and oily! Packed up great! Bagels tasted great and stayed warm during the drive home. Small parking lot Small interior, only two tables with seating for about 4? % fee for using credit cards

Probably the closest thing you'll get to Ny style bagels in Michigan. It's not quite but close. This ain't your Einstein or Dunkin or Bruegers-- it's way better. Bagel itself is soft and freshly baked. I got the sausage, egg and cheese and my husband got the lox/ salmon with capers and the works. We both enjoyed it. His came w a side potato salad and pickle. It was just missing the magic flavor you find in a Utopia bagel or H&H. I don't know what it is. Maybe the bagel itself. But I'm so happy to have found this place. My husband has been coming here already multiple times. They also have paninis and build-your-own omelet /sandwich options. Menu is pretty extensive for a small location including salad. There's basic coffee and tea selection but we didn't try that this time. There's a few tables inside you can sit at. Lighting is bright like a deli, music plays in the background. Staff is friendly and try to make conversation with you which was cool. Seemed like they like working there. The guy asked what I was yelping on my phone and if my husband goes by a nickname. I appreciate little connections like that. 5 stars!

I placed an order online, and even 15 minutes past the expected pickup time, it was still not ready. When I politely asked about the estimated wait time, the staff member responded dismissively, saying it would be ready whenever it was finished. When I asked for a more specific timeframe, he told me to leave the restaurant. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but a little politeness goes a long way--there's no need for rudeness.

I was looking forward for this place to open. It replaced the bagel factory café that used to be there for many years. They had their opening day on Saturday, I was passing by going to cars and coffee so decided to grab some bagels to try. Unfortunately I realized that I don't have any money or cc while placing the order but they were so kind and still gave me 2 bagels and cream cheese for free. I came back later to grab more bagels (I like to freeze them and reheat at home so they are like fresh). Got 6 different ones and by Monday tried 3 flavors, all were delicious. They are pretty big too and I hope this is not the initial incentive and they will keep them like that. The only thing I wish they had is a cinnamon bagel that does not have raisins (like cinnamon chip bagel). Overall I was delighted and will be a regular for sure

Been waiting for this place to open, because Birmingham is underserved for authentic bagels and east coast cuisine. Being a Jersey Boy, this is fun for me. I got the salt bagel and a poppyseed bagel. Also a half pound container of lox-infused cream cheese. All were very, very good. The menu also includes deli sandwiches and cheesesteaks. No telling how often I might eat here per week!

Central Park Deli was the first restaurant on the list to participate. The article said mention the ad from Troy Times or Facebook to get the 20% off your bill. Afterwards, save your receipt to turn into the Troy school of your choice. The school that collects the most money in receipts will win $1,000 cash prize. Unfortunately the employees said no, we aren't participating in that and other customers mention this and we won't honor the discount. I showed them the FB announcement where their Deli was clearly listed and they still said No. ??? This made me frustrated. My total for a wrap, cauliflower bites, and a drink was $22. No discount. False advertising and unpleasant customer service. I posted the Facebook announcement of their restaurant listed below in my pictures. On the positive side, the deli is very clean and food was delicious. Their menu is extensive with many choices of wraps, salads, sandwiches and soup. I appreciate you can customize your wrap with a gluten-free wrap and not many delis in the area have that option.

I very much enjoyed the sandwich but the value at $17 is a little much - the height was perfect but felt the overall size was a bit lacking. Also - depending on your preference, I would probably order extra coleslaw if I ordered this sandwich again, the ratio of beef to slaw was a bit lacking. The cream of broccoli was a nice accompaniment to the sandwich but was kind of salty and a bit on the starchy side. Overall - definitely a good place for a deli sandwich just a little on the pricey side - think Zingermans without the friendly service....

They have an extensive menu to include vegetarian options which was nice to see. They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!

Edit: came back next day and actually HAD the sandwich I came for. Sandwich was VERY good. A little too much sauce but otherwise great. Flavor was good. Customer service still wasn't the best. Took 30 minutes for a sandwich. But I did get a free pickle.

Chopped liver takes Ashkenazi culinary skill and no deli sandwich can be great unless the rye is great, too. The liver was ok, *not* great. It had a subtle but unusual under-taste, like maybe a spritz of pickle juice was added. But it was still ok. I will definitely return to Embers to try their other fare because the service is excellent, just top-notch and the atmosphere is very, very haimish. It reminds me of all the Bronx delis we used to frequent in the 1960s and early 1970s. And the rest of Embers' menu looks good, although typical for MoTown a bisl lacking in variety, e.g., no kishke, no knishes, no schmaltz herring, etc. But for ambience, it's now my favorite in the region. I mentioned this nicely to what I believe was the owner / manager who was checking me out. He immediately said I hate these DEBIT gift cards in a very frustrating tone as it seemed he was directing the comment toward me. I said I do not understand why I was charge the 3.5%. He just proceeded to go into the cash register and throw down $1.00 on the counter and said here you go with a sarcastic tone. Left with a very unpleasant experience provided by a senior employee member.

A plus: unlike most delis, Steve's actually has more than just salads to offer my vegan wife. My server was very knowledgable about that, too.
