Their bagel sandwich fillings are as thick as the bagel itself. I decided to try the Brattle Square ($11.99) which came with a thick spread of cream cheese on both halves, lox, capers, tomato, cucumbers, red onion, and alfalfa sprouts. I remember first seeing the signage for this place months ago and being excited to try it, glad I could finally stop by! We came here on a Sunday for lunch and the space was still decently busy. There was a line waiting for food and a small one for ordering, but we got our food pretty quickly nonetheless and managed to grab a table inside as well. The menu is pretty extensive and it was a bit difficult to choose what I wanted, but I settled on one of their smoked fish creations on an everything bagel. I found the bagel itself to be pretty good, but not super standoutish. The spread and filling of the sandwich was filling and I was definitely stuffed by the end. The mix of flavors with arugula and the smoked salmon itself was pretty delicious. I would say that they could've cut the sandwich in half - it was super messy to eat and started falling apart by the end. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. A little pricy, but a decent bagel spot nonetheless - I would be willing to come back to try some of their other sandwiches and maybe a drink next time as well! read more

Went during opening week! I love the owner and a big fan of his other restaurants. There is a huge variety of sandwiches so you can find anything you like here. The coffee is spectacular and they have a fabulous machine. Service was incredible and as there were a few startup issues, the owner was kindly understanding of any feedback and took it with stride while catering to the needs of his customers! Misjudged this place on my first visit and really glad I went back for a second try. To be honest, the bagels are pretty average. If you simply want the best bagel you can get in the area, I would probably recommend Turenne or Bagelsaurus first as these bagels are a little more bready. However, here it's all about the bagel sandwiches. They have a huge variety of creative and interesting bagel sandwiches, including an anchovy special! I especially appreciated that they have 5+ different vegan sandwiches. I had the Magnolia Avenue which was stuffed with two vegan breakfast sausage patties, vegan cheddar, arugula, tomato, jalapeno, barbecue sauce, hummus, and vegan spread. It was so tasty and filling! The jalapeno added a great kick. I think the vegan breakfast sausage might even be homemade because I didn't recognize it as any plant-based sausage I've bought, and the patties were huge! The vegan cream cheese is tofu-based. All the spreads are made in-house. Inside it is a classic NY deli vibe. The person assisting us (Gagandeep I think) was super friendly and a great salesperson. Originally from New York, and a bagel fanatic, I (along with my family) had eagerly been awaiting the opening of a bagel place close to our home. From the first day, it was obvious that the environment is welcoming and that there is a true desire to be a neighborhood cafe. The owner is always friendly and conversational, and it is apparent that he tries to think of ways to infuse some personality into his shop ("Bollywood Sundays"). Gaggan (sp?) who works behind the register is incredibly gracious and friendly. I have now become a regular and if he sees me across the street, he starts my order, which brings me back to my days of living in Manhattan. And though you are given a number with your order, you never feel like just a number. They make every effort to get to know their customers. And they are incredibly sweet with my toddler. The bagels are good and fresh as are the spreads. The pastries are ridiculously large, and (unfortunately for my hips) very tasty. They offer other food, but I am really there for the bagel. I'm surprised to see a review talking about skimping, because that has not been my experience. I always have to ask for less cream cheese. Overall, a welcome addition to the neighborhood! read more

I would more give this place 4.5 out of 5 stars. The layout of this place is a little confusing and very cramped. People were standing ready for orders where people walk in so there was confusion as to who had already ordered. There is a lightly funky smell in the air, from the cheese I hope. They had many sandwich options and the bagel was good. They were sold out of everything bagels so I got a sesame bagel with light amount of seeds (I like more seeds but it still tasted good). The inside of the bagel was not really toasted, even though I asked for extra dark. But it was still definitely toasted. The cream cheese is dense and yummy. The bagel exterior had a good amount of crunch and the inside was chewy and soft and airy. Honestly this bagel is a really good choice for this area. With a tea (ginger tumeric no sugar no milk) my total was $8.49 and then tip from the iPad. I took mine to go and enjoyed the bagel in a park. read more

This place is my partner and Is favorite place! It's walkable, open later than a lot of cafes (3pm most days) and just frankly a fantastic atmosphere. After being tired of typical major chain hotel breakfast, I decided to walk a bit within Cambridge and look for a good bagel place. Brooklyn Bagel factory has all the charm of a unique place. It looks rather messy, but clean. I ordered a smoked salmon bagel and a coffee. The bagel was good, good salmon and generous spread. The coffee was rather forgettable. An unpleasant service experience: In this place you other your food by a counter, pay and the same person gives you the food on a bag, then your seat yourself, eat your food and place the trash on a container. The "service" your receive is punching your order and handing you the food. You serve yourself the coffee. While paying, you get one of these pads that have pre populated "% Tip" amounts. I decided for a 15% tip (way too much I thought, but...) and the person by the counter said "now I can retire". I thought his tone was rather sarcastic. read more

I'm not familiar with the BBF and if it's a chain or not, but I decided to stop by to at least taste what the coffee was like. It seemed a little darker than is usual in Boston and was perfectly fine but not exceptional. I got the Agassiz bagel sandwich since it sounded like a lighter sort of meal than some of the other options. When I tried to eat it while walking, it was too jam-packed and slippery to do so, which is totally fine. Not everything needs to be edible while mobile. But when I got home and tried to really eat it, I was genuinely repulsed by how much sauce had been slathered on, to the extent that I could hardly taste anything else, including the bagel, which the sauce had infused. I haven't traveled around enough to know if North America is relatively different in how much sauce people generally on stuff, but this sandwich unfortunately just reminded me why I thought I hated coleslaw for most of my life until I had a bowl of it which wasn't just flavorless cabbage dunked in a vat of mayonnaise. I ended up tossing most of this bagel after scraping off the gunk did little to reduce the over-flavoring of the sauce. Very disappointing. The man who helped me was friendly and engaging, which was nice for a change in Boston. Felt like you could make conversation there if you wanted to. Maybe the other bagels are better, but when they're ten dollars, I probably won't try the food here again. Please make a change to have less sauce, guys! read more

No qualms about the bagels. It was a good option previously for my girlfriend (who is gluten-free) and me before this past weekend, one of the only games in town to offer both options. Came in at the end of the usual Saturday AM rush. Waited 20 minutes in line before being acknowledged by staff, not a problem. When another customer in line asked why nobody had been served, the response to us was "We don't need your orders," before walking away. This was my second and last visit to Brooklyn Bagel Factory. A few months ago I stopped in with friends to try a steamed bagel sandwich. The priced were not updated on their laminated menus, nor on the chalkboard menu and I was overcharged for a truly terribly tasting bagel sandwich. Food is excellent - locally sourced ingredients, hearty, HEARTY sandwiches, extremely reasonable prices for what you get. Loaded bagel sandwiches are messy, def not very walk and eatable, but if you take a moment and sit down and eat, it's tasty and very filling and you won't need another meal for ages. I was so excited to see pictures of the Chicago style deep dish pizza in their window and in the menu. I ordered three of them for my family. What they served looked nothing like the pictures. More like a poor version of a Dominos pizza. Very thick bread base, very little sauce and a thick layer of cheese. I couldn't finish a slice of this odd pizza.
