We stopped in for coffee and a bagel. We ordered two cold brews with almond milk and an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. They were out of everything bagels, which wasn't a big deal it happens, but the way that it was conveyed was moderately impolite. We ended up with sesame bagel instead. It took longer than expected for it to be ready, which was also fine, it happens, they're busy. They were out of the correct coffee cups. Our bagel itself was pretty underwhelming. Update from last few visits, now that they've recently extended their operating hours (previously weekday only) to include Saturdays starting at 8. In short, the best bagels and cream cheeses in the greater Boston area. My Lox Sandwiches (had 3 times): Dill salmon twice, pastrami salmon once, with charred scallion cream cheese, tomato, onion, cukes, and capers in a pumpernickel everything bagel twice, pretzel bagel once. All of the flavors melded perfectly, and the bagel itself was still the leading component, as it should be. A well-constructed sandwich with no skimping anywhere. Elite. My wife's Baked Egg Sandwich: A "build your own" with avocado, lettuce, tomato, and hot sauce in an everything bagel. Her assessment: "Very good. I love it." My Egg Sandwiches (had twice): An Egg-on-Egg option, with the fluffy baked egg nestled nicely between two nearly-as-fluffy egg bagel halves. Sausage and hot sauce added nicely. Tried on another visit with bacon and again nice, but I came to the realization that a bagel-- anyone's, not just Rebelle's-- doesn't scratch that bagel itch unless it has cream cheese. Bagels and Cream Cheese to Go: I cannot stress strongly enough how superior these are to any competition in the Boston area. The bagels retain texture and intense flavor even for days after taking home. Ditto the cream cheeses. And I'm particularly partial to the charred scallion, which adds an irresistible flavor way beyond scallion, thanks to that char. It's indescribable, but the closest comparison is the intensity of a good sour cream and onion dip, and with a similar beige color. Pop Tarts, Cookies, Muffins: These haven't been as impressive as the bagels, cream cheese, and bagel sandwiches. Not bad, but I'd skip these and hit PRB Boulangerie down the street if you want a sweet add-on. Still doesn't put the 5 stars in jeopardy. Service: Always great. The rewards program is one of the best in the business. Seating: Enough table space for 14 people, plus stools and counter space for a few more. We came in around noon, and that late in the day, most of the bagel options were gone. I ended up ordering the nova lox sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel with charred scallion spread. My bagel sandwich was quite tasty and the combination wasn't bad, though next time I might switch out the bagel with pumpernickel (similar to rye) if my first choice isn't available. The charred scallion spread went pretty nicely with the rest of the bagel sandwich as well. I devoured the whole thing pretty quickly, so no complaints! The store has some indoor seating and a clean, single-stall bathroom. Really solid bagel spot in Kendall!! It's hard to find good bagels in Boston, so this place definitely hit the spot. I got the lox bagel with the pastrami salmon and the spicy veggie cream cheese on an everything. My boyfriend got the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything. Both were delicious! The bagels were well-seasoned, crispy on the outside, and fluffy and moist on the inside. We loved the texture. My BF said this was probably the best bagel sandwich he's had in Boston (he lived in NYC prior). I think if I went again, I might not go for the full lox sandwich because it felt a little slim on the salmon, given all the other toppings on it. I might just go for the lox + cream cheese. My experience here was, overall, satisfying but also not anything that blew me away. Starting with the service, it was fast and simple to order. Plus, even later in the morning they still had a variety of bagel options to choose from. Another perk, the interior design and art is funky and vibrant making for a fresh, fun vibe to start your morning. Also, there was plenty of natural light and seating options so you can really settle in and focus on your food. However, the restaurant was kept pretty cold which was a little uncomfortable and even made the food taste chilled. Speaking of the food, the bagels themselves were a decent size and had a nice crisp exterior. Unfortunately, they weren't very warm, making them seem somewhat unfresh and missing that nice soft interior. Additionally, the sandwich as a whole did feel very cohesive, it was a little dry and fell apart easily. The egg patty provided an interesting and smooth texture though and the bacon was absolutely delicious! Otherwise, it's not my favorite breakfast sandwich in the world, but it also wasn't terrible. As a whole, I'd recommend maybe trying a bagel with just cream cheese or one of their other sandwich combos, because the breakfast version just sort of missed the mark for me. Additionally, I would avoid their drinks. I got the matcha and it wasn't very high quality, from my perspective. Still worth a visit if you're in the area and really craving a bagel! I'm a big supporter of tips but if you're throwing three expensive bagels in a bag and handing it to me, I'm not giving a 20 percent tip. They also refuse to buy a toaster. Fun little neighborhood bagel spot in Cambridge. With lots of great specialty bagel flavors like Pumpernickel-Everything, Rye, Beet, & Garlic Rosemary. What makes Rebelle special is they make lots of their ingredients in-house, such as their spreads, mayo, and hot sauce. I highly suggest the hot sauce! One item that got lots of hype on social media was their Pop Tart. It was far too buttery and crumbly for my liking, but others around us seemed to be enjoying theirs. Kind of surprised by the negative reviews - I've been here a few times and while it's not my favorite bagel place in the world, I've never been disappointed. The staff is friendly, service is prompt, bagels are warm and fluffy. The prices are a little steep but not too outrageous by Cambridge standards. I've tried a few different flavors - everything, pumpernickel everything, egg, and pretzel - and my favorite was the regular everything. Very generously seasoned, fluffy on the inside, chewy on the outside. Cream cheese is good too. The charred scallion is my favorite. The amount of cream cheese doesn't seem to be standardized but it's never been too skimpy for me. There's not a lot of seating - a few tables and and window seating - but I've never had trouble getting a table on a weekday morning. Most people take their orders to go. If you sign up for text alerts, you get discounts that make the prices more reasonable. I will keep coming anytime a coupon pops up. read more

As a bagel snob by heritage, I have long maintained that the acceptable bagel options in Boston are few and far between - for years making the trek out to Brookline or even the suburbs when needed. I have been thrilled to discover Rebelle in Kendall Square, just a few blocks off the red line, as an answer to my bagel needs. They have an excellent selection of bagels, including all of the classics as well as more interesting and fun options like pumpernickel-everything, beet and pretzel bagels. They have lots of great spreads, sandwich options, and pastries, as well. The breakfast sandwiches are excellent and the smoked fish spreads are quite good, too. Got a sesame bagel here on the morning and it was really good. It was nice and chewy and had a pretty good crust. It reminded me of a chewy pretzel, especially the outside. Soooo glad to have another bagel place in Cambridge! The bagels were great quality--soft on the inside, with a good crust on the outside. Only complaint was that the bagels were on the smaller side. Love all the creative cream cheese flavors they had--the beet, dill, horseradish cream cheese had such good flavor (with an extra little kick from the horseradish). I haven't tried them yet, but they also have a variety of dips, pastries, and I think they cure their salmon in-house (!!!). The interior is super cute and well designed, in love with the branding for this place. I believe they have just started making full bagel sandwiches, but I haven't had the chance to try. Finally got the chance to try this place out. Drove all the way from Marlborough to Cambridge. And it was so worth the 70 minutes drive. The Bagels that they serve are so soft. They don't make you feel like your jaw is gonna fall off from chewing them. The people who work here are really nice. I told them it was my first time, and they walked me through the whole menu. The toppings were also impressive, beet, dill and horseradish-I'm in! I didn't toast the bagel, it was dense and chewy so toasting would have added a crunch to it. Went to Rebelle today for the first time in Cambridge (loved the Providence spot) and it was fantastic. We got the lox sandwich which was chockerblock full of salmon, cucumber, tomato, capers and salmon -- all on a sesame bagel that seemed to have a double coating of sesame seeds! We also got an everything bagel with chive cream cheese and pumpernickel with spicy veggie cream cheese. All were spectacular. The staff is super friendly and spot is bright and welcoming. Food was super fresh and tasty. Bagels were fresh with great size and consistency. I ordered a sandwich but the assembly was a bit of a mess. The tomatoes were on the bread and cucumbers instead of the cream cheese. The cream cheese was just plopped in the center, so it squished right out of the bagel hole. This made everything soggy and slimy. Everything just kept sliding off the sandwich and making a big mess. Rookie sandwich making mistake.
