We weren't sure if they had breakfast because nothing on the outside signage clearly indicated that (Brooklyn Coffee and Organic Kitchen) We sat down and got prompt service. My husband ordered the two eggs home fries bacon and toast. I was feeling adventurous and ordered the Tuscan quinoa bowl topped with two eggs over easy (comes with that). Wow! Best breakfast ever! This place makes some seriously wonderful coffee and paninis. I *highly* recommend the Chocolate Peanut Butter latte. It's divine! It's hard to choose a favorite among the many different choices of sandwiches and paninis, but I must say the fact that they will make a custom breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and brie cheese is probably one of my favorite parts of eating there. The service can be a little slow sometimes, but the food has always been worth the wait. I don't recommend going there to eat-in in the winter, however, since every time the front door opens there's a rather uncomfortable draft. read more

I really want to like this place, if only because it's close. Unfortunately, I can't come up with a reason that would cause me to return, and there are a couple reasons that will keep me away. The first is the coffee. How can a coffee shop serve lukewarm coffee? If a coffee shop is going to get anything right, it should be the coffee, shouldn't it? The second is the ambiance, so to speak. It seems to me that people normally go to a coffee shop for two reasons. One goes with friends in order to have coffee and a conversation, or one goes alone in order to have coffee and read. Unfortunately, the volume inside Brooklyn Coffee militates against either purpose. The shop is a wide open space, so the machines are competing with the music which is competing with customers trying to talk, and all of that sound is bouncing off of the hard surfaces. And everything in the place is hard. The floor seems to be bare concrete, the tables are metal, the chairs are hard, straight backed, kitchen chairs. Nothing really conducive to hanging out for any length of time, and all contributing to the horrible acoustics. I should say that Brooklyn Coffee is not the only place in which I have observed this phenomenon. Freight house does the same thing with its music, though its much more comfortable, with its cushy chairs and couches. But frankly, it baffles me as to why a coffee shop's "background music" would be so loud. But maybe its just me. By the way, I'm not that old. I'm not the guy yelling, "Get off my lawn!" and "Turn down that noise!" I just wish that there were a warm, inviting, comfortable, quiet coffee shop around where people can read, or talk without screaming. read more

This place is really starting to irritate me! Every time I try going here it's closed! I don't understand! I go at normal times i.e. 2p.m-6p.m. and they have big signs saying "closed see you soon"! One of my favorite spots for breakfast and a light lunch in Mahopac. My mom and I make it a point to come once a week for a ladies day out. The lovely ladies of this quaint little spot are always ready to greet their customers with a warm smile. The food is always delicious, and you can always find healthy dishes such as a Tuscan quinoa bowl with summer squash for lunch, and gluten free options as well! DO NOT come here if you are looking to have a quick meal... The service is very slow. I think that the prices are steep compared to other local places, but all in all, I always enjoy my time spent at this swanky cafe! I give them four stars for being edgy, creating a menu that is promising of something tasty and different, and for the cozy vibes! read more

In love with this place. A heaven send for me. Yes, the heavens opened up and angels brought me Brooklyn Coffee House lol. Dude, I used to drive like 45 to get organic breakfast. I often dont feel like cooking in the morning, and I only eat organic. Low and behold, this place arrives like 7 min from me. So far so good...pancakes were delicious. Service excellent. In a perfect world Idk I may have liked more of a traditional cafe. Think of like Starbucks, or Panera. You get your food/drink and then just sit and chill for however long u want. Maybe sit and study for 4 hours. No one is waiting in you. They've turned this into more of a restaurant...but who knows maybe thats the best way. Oh yeah and I would love you if you were open for dinner...Id be ur best customer. And umm..lets hope ur ingredients are by and large the healthy/natural/organic kind. No gimmicks. Went today with a friend for lunch, we were greeted by Sandra the owner she was cheerful and pleasant. Our server Kelsey was also pleasant and attentive. We both ordered the Exotic Crab salad, the service was great and our food came out as ordered. Portion size was reasonable and there was enough crab in the salad to substantiate calling it a "crab" salad. All the ingredients seemed fresh and the salad was tasty. I would comment that the prices reflect a place one would find in lower Westchester or Manhattan, not so over the top but a bit high for the area considering it's a breakfast and lunch place. Each salad was $18.00. I noticed a bowl of soup $9.00 Hmmmm, I'll be going back to try some other things, all in all a pleasant lunch. read more

Despite looking for 15 minutes for a nearby coffee shop (google maps is super messed up), I stumbled upon here. I'm glad I did - the pumpkin spice latte was one of the best I've ever had!! This is a great place and with wonderful service. But it has a very deceiving name because I came in to get on my laptop and sit and relax for a bit. I didn't know it was more of a restaurant with waiters and all. I had to do a recheck of the business name as I was leaving! Have been here a few times because I like the location. I want so much to like the food as well. Not happening. I was at a table of 5 and our food did not come out together. I ordered potatoes with my eggs. They gave me 2 tiny pieces of potato and told me the rest were on their way. When they came out they were soggy and undercooked. I sent them back. Of course they came out burned. My friend tried the crepes. They were like rubber. Another friend had a bagel and that wasn't even good. Service was not great. Food not worth it. This was our first visit to the Brooklyn Cafe on a friends recommendation , and we were not disappointed. Very friendly greeting from the owner, and the wait staff was very attentive and courteous. My wife's test of a breakfast/lunch place is the coffee. She was very delighted with the taste and temperature of the Java, as was I. Great choices on the menu, and they will cook eggs any way or style that you want them . Just a word of advice. If you just want eggs and toast, better to order as sides than an omelet . It's much more cost effective that way. They serve lunch as well, and the choices looked very delicious, but we have not tried lunch as of yet. We dined outdoors on their outside patio, and the umbrellas on the table allow you to sit in sun or shade, whatever your preference happens to be . BROOKLYN CAFE -- A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH! I have been in Brooklyn Cafe and Organic Kitchen a handful of times over the last few months, but yesterday, I had the privilege of fully experiencing this gem of a place tucked away in sleepy Mahopac. One of my favorites from the Coffee House & Tea Bar menu is the Blended Protein Mocha Smoothie. As someone who is trying to get fit, it's nice having a treat when you go out with your friends that is dessert in nature and delicious, while knowing it's good for you and won't kill your diet for the evening. If you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend it. When I am following my weight loss program, I enjoy breakfast for dinner--you know you are going to naturally have a lighter meal on the stomach. I went with the organic vegetable omelette, with spinach, peppers, mushrooms, cheddar cheese, turkey bacon, and avocado. Complements to Lynn Mongon who served the best omelette I have ever eaten. Just when you think there's one way to do an omelette, Brooklyn Cafe cracks the egg mold. This was my first Brooklyn Cafe organic veggie omelette; it most certainly will not be my last. I finished my meal with their homemade ice cream (attached). It was the perfect way to top off the meal. It had the right texture and flavor, and served in an edible waffle cone bowl, which I just had to do a little cheating and eat some of it. The staff at Brooklyn Cafe are very hospitable, accommodating, and personable. You do not feel rushed as if you're expected to immediately order, eat, and leave. Whether sitting inside or on their patio, this trendy hot spot provides the respite from the daily grind, as if you are on a mini-vacation, whether by yourself or a party of your closest friends (both of which I have experienced there the past few months). But the real bonus is in knowing that what you order is healthy in addition to being delicious. I would like to warn you, though, that depending on what you order, items may be more expensive than their traditional counterparts. My omelette, for example, in total was $14.00, before taxes, with all of my add-ons past the base price of $9.50. Similar vegetable omelettes at a local diner range from $7.99 to $10.99; however, the ingredients there are not organic and not as delicious. With the food combined with the ambiance and the service, it was well worth the extra few dollars. I think I have found my new favorite destination spot in Mahopac for the future. read more

Awful just awful, I ate half of it literally because I was really hungry and tossed the rest. Plus 15 bucks for a breakfast burrito and bottled orange juice? Your prices are bloated because of this dumbass change. The fact is you had a gold mine before and now crapped on it, the kitchen is unbelievably slow. It took me a half hour to get my order, which had nothing I ordered in it no salsa, no cheese, and we'll the eggs were accompanied with some koos koos or something. I hope your coffee is still good and the waitstaff was friendly and polite while being attentive so that's a plus but that is the only reason you might get my business again. I really really want to love this place! I love the whole organic movement, and I usually get their iced coffee which is great. This morning I felt like something different and ordered a large iced latte. No flavoring- just espresso & milk. The total was over $7! For one drink- which was the weakest latte I've ever had and tasted like they only added one shot of espresso- all I could taste was milk. Extremely disappointed at the price and taste. read more
