My food was ok. I still rate four stars for a few reasons. One, I've only been to this place once, and I only ordered a breakfast burrito. Two, I've only visited once. Three, they seem to have a lot more to offer, so I can't be too harsh on a one time visit. Again, got the breakfast burrito, with eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, and pepper jack cheese. I was surprised at the lack of seasoning and how I couldn't really taste the cheese. I say this because I am a palm colored person and I think the proprietors may be Mexican, so I expected a little more pizazz (please call me in if this is being insensitive). Maybe they are just trying to accommodate the locals or be neutral. The folks working (possibly the owners?) are super nice. Lots of drink options (juices, water, sparkling water). Also sells coffee, tea. They also sell a lot of sauces, including hot sauces, pasta sauces, various condiments. The menu seems pretty broad: Brekkie: BEC, omelets, burritos, lox bagels, steak and egg wrap. Lunch/dinner: skirt steak sandwich, Italian chicken cutlet, grilled chicken, burgers. Salads and wraps to include caesar, greek, house, buffalo chicken, etc. They also have quesadillas, tacos, burritos, wings, nachos, empanadas. The shop is bright, open, clean. Definitely seems like a community spot. I am sure they are five stars. My particular visit was a one off. Or maybe it's a me thing. But if you're ever in this tiny little hamlet, stop off at Milton's and give them a try. read more

Such an adorable spot. Like upstate meets Brooklyn in this industrial-looking trendy-rustic space. Love the newspapers they have available, comfy couch seating, dog-friendliness, and shop next door selling new and old decor. Didn't try the food but got their cold brew and a dirty chai latte and they were okay, nothing to rush back for, but I'd still come back to try their food for breakfast and lunch! read more

Croton Falls has been a rare stop for me, except for the train (duh!) and exceptionally tasty pies from Frank's Pizzeria. That's just changed and MILTON'S is its name. Good food, mostly Mexican, is now on the small menu In a huge space once relegated to coffee & goobers on the way to the train. Real food is ordered in the back from a tiny menu (with surprisingly good selections) next to a teeny hot-table in case you're so inclined. Supplies and add-ons dot the walls. A side room is jammed with an eclectic selection of gifts, antiques, and a wide array of GREAT rarely seen small-brewery beers and ciders (to take home or pair with the food). I had the daily special (BBQ pork) and Alicia had a veggie quesadilla. Both were plentiful and far better than good. The small menu also includes burgers, sandwiches, lots of standard Mexican fare and more. If you prefer to eat in, there are tables with stools and a plush sofa along the side wall. There is a tiny bathroom in the back, but stay away except for emergencies - it's sorely in need of (a) decoration, (b) expansion, and (c) a seriously thorough cleaning before it's ready for public use. Yes, I know that the very tasty looking WHO'S COOKING is just down the block and there are at least two serious tablecloth restaurants in Croton Falls, all well-reviewed. Now that I've rediscovered this town, they're on my list, too. But for now, for a nice quick meal with good brews and a comfortable sofa to enjoy them, this is my stop. read more

Milton's is my spot to unwind and grab a great meal. Sometimes I grab and go, sometimes I stay and work a few hours with the laptop. Always a great atmosphere, great food and service. The cappuccino, burger, baked goods and chicken wrap are my favorites. Highly recommended! read more

this place is so convenient and I really appreciate the clean space with great seating, clear menus with lots of options, and different drinks like matcha, coffee, and iced tea. it's a great stop when I get off the train or am waiting to leave. Hygrade has been a community favorite for decades. A quick stop in to pick up breakfast for the morning commute. Of course when it closed we were all disappointed. So, when it was purchased and reopened there were high hopes. Meh - I stopped in this morning for a bagel n tea for my commute, excited to try out the reopened Hygrade. What a shameful disappointment. As I bit into my everything bagel with cream cheese and butter, I quickly realized that this was not the Hygrade of old. Quality here is no longer important. Pride in what is served is gone. What I received was a stale bagel too tough to chew with a tiny bit of cream cheese on it. I did not go back to complain and won't bother ever going back again. read more

Someone in the kitchen knows their way around an avocado. When I bit into my burrito I half-expected to find a hard slice of it, but was pleasantly surprised! Had a great brunch today, eggs Benedict with salmon and mimosas $42 for 2 people, and the quality was great. Very friendly and courteous owner and staff. Cool design of the space. The other side of the building has a nice store and small craft beer place. Extensive breakfast, sandwich, entree, appetizer menu makes Milton's a nice addition to Croton Falls. read more

stopped off to grab food for my kids. asked for three forks for my kids and a bag to carry it in. the woman at register said I was "asking for too much" to ask for that. I asked how I should have my kids eat the food I just paid for. she replied "you ask for too much". First off, $9 XL pizza ($8 for a large) is a steal anywhere. That deserves 4 stars right there. Add to that good cold cuts, great sandwich choices, the absolute BEST cole slaw anywhere, seriously; free coffee with a breakfast sandwich, Carmen behind the deli counter and this place is a real winner. Get to know Carmen, you won't regret it! I like to go there on the weekend with the kids for lunch. They have a seating area that seats about 12 or so, plus a few monitors for lottery games which I love to do, Keno (or, some weird NY Lottery version of Keno). Wow! I'm not sure how he spells his name (probably Jorge) but everyone calls him "Georgie" and he makes, quite possibly, the best pizza in the world. The rest of the pizza guys, and the deli staff are all great. But Georgie is an artist. I have always loved their sandwiches. They're inexpensive, large, and delicious! My favorite sandwich from here has to be the classic Italian Combo with hot peppers. Good ingredients, good service, good location, good price. This place just can't be beat! I haven't tried their pizza in a long time, but I remember liking it. Now I must admit that I haven't had a burger from here recently, but if it's like anything else they make it has to be good. read more

A deli at the train station. Rolls and pastries uncovered in boxes just sitting all over the place while flies buzzed everywhere. The whole place felt very dirty. This is my go-to place for sandwiches. Great quality cold cuts and grinder rolls. Nice sandwich menu too. My favorite is the Italian Combo sub. It takes care to make a great Italian Combo sub, and I have always been very happy with hygrade's. As another reviewer already mentioned, their coleslaw is expert level. It's true. I've also tried their cold packaged dinner with chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy, and that was really good too. I think the owner must really care about the quality of their prepared food. I appreciate that. It's nice to be able to have a good reliable place to go that has consistent quality every time at a fair price. I've been recommending Hygrade for 12 years. read more
