We originally…read moreplanned to go to another pizza place, but the wait was long and they closed early for a Saturday, so we ended up here--and we're so glad we did. Everything from the service to the overall vibe was great. The drinks were well balanced, not too sweet or too strong. The garlic cheese bread was honestly one of the best we've had--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with the perfect amount of cheese and garlic. Their ranch was really good too, probably house made. We also ordered the Old School Detroit-style pizza and it was cooked perfectly with crispy edges and super flavorful sauce. Definitely coming back.

We specifically asked about the heater and were told they'd "send someone to turn it on." Later, when our waiter said he didn't know how, I went back to the hostess, and she immediately said, "Oh, they aren't working." So why not just say that from the start? They clearly already knew the three outdoor heaters were out of gas. It's winter -- something guests should be told upfront. We asked if we could sit inside and were told no because they had "only one waiter." Yet I saw at least four different servers working. We stayed only because we had already ordered -- we're not shady like that -- but honestly, transparency would've saved everyone the trouble. Food: *Caesar salad was cut oddly and overpriced. *Pesto pizza tasted more like spinach -- one of the least flavorful "pesto" pizzas I've had. *Two dirty water cups. *Asked for ice twice and never got it. *Sodas only came after asking twice. Other issues: *One bathroom stall was completely out of toilet paper. *The lock on the handicap stall didn't work. The only standout was The All Star pizza -- that one was actually very good. Overall, not worth the visit. Better communication, working heaters, and basic attention to service and facilities would've made a huge difference.

Met the hostess and were seated immediately. Place was small (about 10 tables) and quaint. Waiter approached us within 5 minutes and asked if we wanted drinks. We told him that we drink cabernet sauvignon and asked for his recommendation. He came back with two glasses of Montepulciano wine that was rich, bold and fruity. The waiter gave us ample time to enjoy our wine. When the waiter came back, we ordered a Caesar salad to share. My wife was admiring the pizza on the table next to us and ordered the same. Withing a couple of minutes we received our salad. It was a nice size enough to have a second helping. The romaine lettuce was crispy and fresh with parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons and a creamy Caesar dressing. Lets just say we cleaned our plates. Once we were done our pizza came and it was piping hot. It was a 14' pizza that had mozzarella, basil pepperoni and a nice crispy crust. I am a fan of New York pizza because it's thin and I can fold it in half to enjoy. This pizza did not disappoint nice chewy cheese, salty and oily pepperoni, fresh basil, chewy middle and crispy crush. My wife and I were hungry but could only finish two pieces each and brought the other four slices home. The waiter asked if we wanted dessert and we said we better be good but ordered two more glasses of wine. While we were enjoying our wine table next to us receive their dessert. I looked over and had to make a comment that you must be heaven because the tiramisu looked so good. The lady was so nice and cut a piece of her dessert and gave it to us to try. We tried denying it but she was persistent. Boy she was right creamy, soft spongy lady fingers coco and a sprinkler of expresso. After that we introduced ourselves and made new friends. Great ambiance, food, and service. We'll be back!

The one downside was their text system wasn't working to let me know the food was ready, so I had to call back. The place was packed when I arrived to pick up the food. The food was still warm and everyone loved it. Paparoni pizza was delicious I love the sweet and savory taste. The Caesar was good but the croutons were a little stale. Chicken wings were perfectly fried but I would say need a little more seasoning. The Rigatoni was delicious, the sauce was super thick and flavorful. Definitely will be coming back to dine in!

But I'm guessing they still have pizza ovens, because there's a really good pizza kitchen there. Groovy Island Pizza gets 5-stars for VALUE alone! I ordered a Mushroom & Sausage Medium pizza, added pepperoni and more mozzarella, and the price was still under $20! Of course the price adds up as you pile on the toppings. First, this is a virtual brand and not a ghost kitchen. This is simply a real business selling pizzas over delivery apps. For some reason, they're using this crazy name. I ordered a medium "Mushroom & Sausage" Pizza. Then I added Pepperoni and more Mozzarella Cheese. Price $18.95. That's a medium pizza with 4 toppings. It was hellya good! It had my basic requirement for a good pizza....a thick blanket of cheese. Crust was soft, but lightly crispy. Even with pepperoni and sausage, it was not overly salty. It was just a good pizza, at a fair price.

Service was excellent and I love how the servers have all worked at this restaurant for a long time - staff retention is a rare thing these days. The burrata and prosciutto appetizer was very tasty and the beet salad was refreshing and healthy. We enjoyed the prosciutto pizza that had a nice truffle scent. The pastas were also excellent - we had the oxtail ravioli and the butternut squash agnolotti. The mixed seafood platter was very good and they added additional shrimp and scallops for us. The branzino and salmon were my favorite. Nice selection of cocktails, beer, and mocktails. The dessert menu has a nice variety. We got the zabaglione with berries and the chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream to end the night. Def a nice place for large groups to get dinner and drinks.

I've been here a couple times prior. We ordered a pizza for an appetizer to share in addition to our individual entrées of the spaghetti del trabocco, the lasagna, and the ravioli con coda. The pizza with the Italian sausage had a lightly spicy kick and the thin crust was perfectly crispy. The pizza was great. It was salty and savory without being overly heavy. All of our pasta entrées were delicious too. Good flavor and filling without leaving you feeling too stuffed. We had leftovers too. My favorite was the tiramisu that we shared. It was moist and lightly sweet and it helped end the meal on a great note! The restaurant can be a little loud if they're busy, but otherwise it has a great ambiance. Great place to stop by in Alameda-even Alysa Liu loves this place!

It took around 10-15 minutes for our order to come out, but I've heard it can take much longer on busier days, so do be prepared to wait a bit if there are more people ordering when you get there. There are a few seats inside the restaurant, with a few tables upstairs area as well, which I found to be nice. We got their Burrata and Mushroom pizza slices. I personally loved the Burrata with hot honey! The burrata pieces matched with the hot honey was a wonderful mix between sweet and salty. It kind of reminded me a bit of L'Industrie in NYC. The mushroom was delicious as well with a hint of lemon that paired well with the creamy mushroom sauce. Definitely one of the best pizza spots I've tried in the Bay Area!

They do sell them by the slice, so I'll most likely order that next time.
