Having spent a good portion of my childhood in Brooklyn (Park Slope section) I learned to really enjoy pizza there. For $0.25 I could get a slice and a soda, yes those days are gone for sure. When I saw Brooklyn style pizza I decided I'd take a ride and give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that there was a lot of nostalgia from Brooklyn including subway signs and pictures of the "Wonder Wheel " from Coney Island setting a nice atmosphere for the restaurant. The young man behind the counter took our order and when the pizza was ready delivered it to our table. We ordered a sausage pizza and I'll tell you they aren't afraid of using cheese, Plenty of it and sausage. The pizza was very tasty, but not exactly what I remember from my childhood. Now this is just my personal opinion so please make sure to give them a try, everyone has different taste buds. Personally I would prefer a thinner and more crusty dough, and less cheese. This DOES NOT mean I didn't enjoy it, just my personal preference. Also, there are lots of other dishes on their menu besides pizza! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

I just got a pizza from here today. One of the worst margarita pizzas i have. The sauce was super band, it tastes like he poured crushed tomatoes out of a can on the pizza and called it a day. The dough tasted like Hannafords store bought dough. I was really disappointed. To top it all off this young man folded the pizza box inside out. Amateur!!! read more

Brooklyn Style Pizzeria opened for business in the former Flammerie space on Hudson Street in Kinderhook. They serve up traditional thin crust pizzas & specialty pizzas (16"-18" pies & by the slice), calzones, strombolis, salads, garlic knots, salads & cold drinks in the cooler. When available, they also have Brooklyn Tomato Pies and Sicilian pizzas. The place is order at the counter and there is table seating along the left side and back dining room. I stopped in here for a quick bite. I ordered 2 pizza slices ($8.10 total), a mushroom (preserved) pizza slice and a diced green peppers, diced onions, large pepperoni pizza slice. The pizza slices were warmed up in the hot oven and I enjoyed the pizza slices in the cool dining room. The pizza slices were topped with the right amount of thick tomato pizza sauce, melted mozzarella cheese and toppings on top of a very firm thin crust, crunchy on the edges. The pizza sauce had a slight tart flavor. Overall, the pizza slices were pretty good here. I would definitely stop in here again and hopefully they will have the Brooklyn Tomato Pie back on the menu. read more

I'm sorry to report this place is unremarkable. If you want a slice there is only tomato sauce and no white pizza unless you order a whole pizza ahead -- which you can only do online; there's no phone. The eggplant calzone was overloaded with cheese, undercooked eggplant and lacking in flavor. Old school music blaring with NYC subway signs on walls meant I suppose to transport the diner to old time Italian Brooklyn, definitely not Hudson transplants' hip Brooklyn. Another food outlet in the now emperor of Kinderhook Village commercial real estate. His wife makes great bagels and that's the limit of talent. I recommend heading a bit north to LaBella for very good pizza in a delightful family-run pizza and Italian place that will do anything your way. read more

Amazingly great NY pizza, this is the real deal! We ordered an 18" Mushroom and an 18" Eggplant Parm, plus got a few slices to go. Our family LOVED the pizza, all of them. And, noteworthy, when I ordered those two pies, I mentioned that we'd add a few additional cold slices when we picked up the order - to take away & reheat at home. I asked if they had any BBQ chicken slices ready and the woman taking the order on the phone apologized saying that they didn't have any of those slices ready, though had a number of others ready to go. Well unbelievably, she asked the pizza chef to make a BBQ chicken pizza for us so that we could add a couple of these slices to our order. That was an amazingly nice thing to do, thrilled my daughter's fiancé (he's from England), & he absolutely loved this very generously topped pizza (his favorite), saying it was the best he's ever had. And the other additional slices we got were great, too. This is great pizza (and I will say, I know pizza!). Important note, I think they're adding a new phone number and if you can't find the phone number on their website, I found it through a web/Google search: 518-758-1509. Otherwise, their website does have a good online ordering tool. I had never been here before though so glad I found and chose this place. I do seek out good pizza places, and while returning from a day in Western MA, Kinderhook was enroute back to our home on the other side of the Capital Region (we have only one, maybe two good, real NY pizza places in the entire Guilderland-Altamont-Vorheesville area). Whenever I'm traveling to & through the area I'll be sure to return, will be very happy to pick up great pizza from this place again. read more

Order a pie yesterday on line. Picked it up as scheduled, got home and the pie crust was black from being burnt. Should not have sold that pie. A teenager and a woman were working that night, no one from the family. Just check the pie before you leave the store. Kind of skimpy on the toppings based upon the price. read more

I'm five-starring this place for the garlic knots alone. Not health food, but really elevates the knot game. Price is new-school Kinderhook, not Brooklyn (even today usually knots are 4-6 for $2.50, max), but as I said these are some elevated knots. The dough is delicious. And as said, pizza is quite nice. Just for a "criticism," and someone else noted this: their stromboli was not my favorite. It wasn't bad or anything. Believe it or not, it was just too cheesy for me...their dough is so good I wanted more of it in the stromboli balance, this ended up being a goopy and mild mess instead of an evenly-balanced spiral. It's personal, I think stromboli and pinwheels really need a nice mix of dough and cheese. Anyway, keep it up BSP! read more

This was our first time ordering and we placed the order online and included a tip. Unfortunately, the meatball Stromboli had a paste of ground beef and cheap cheese inside and it tasted awful. The margarita pizza had a decent crust but the sauce was not well distributed and there were slabs of poor to medium-grade mozzarella on top. It was edible but not great. The chicken wings were super fatty and came with limp celery. Ordering was easy and the meal was ready on time. We felt it was a waste of money since most of the food was truly inedible and we had to toss most of it. We won't order again read more

This is truly excellent NY style pizza. Great crust, terrific sauce, just the right amount of cheese and excellent toppings. Yes, they do slices (just like in NYC), but their skill really shines in their whole pies. We've taken out from them at least 4 or 5 times....and its been great every time. We do miss the housemade brats at the old Flammerie...but this place is a great addition to the area. read more
