What a fun take on pizza! This was recommended to me by someone at the Olana historic site. The bruschetta salad was HUGE. There was garlic cheese toast between the mixed greens and bruschetta topping. The balsamic dressing is thick. Super garlicky and flavorful. The pizza has a choice of either sourdough crust or spelt crust. I tried the sourdough Margherita pie. The salad and the small pie was plenty of food for two people. The service was friendly. It's good pizza but it's not the traditional style crust, it's all sourdough. Pricey, but the area in general is expensive for food so prices are inline for the area. If you bring your dog, there's only 4 chairs for outdoor eating. Make sure you check the hours they're open before you go. read more

We had dinner at Baba Louie's on Saturday with our young children. The staff was extremely accommodating. They brought crayons and asked what they could bring us right away. We asked for a pizza, and it was on our table within minutes. We then ordered the rest of our meal, and the salad and pizzas were absolutely delicious. I knew we weren't getting local joint NYC pizza at this Hudson, NY restaurant. It was doable for the moment. I mean...it's good and the flavors are there- but is it a pizza? The way New Yorkers truly love their pizza? Nnnnno. Kudos to Baba Louie's I guess for experimenting with sourdough flour. But what makes people think that sourdough flour would be the ultimate replacement for regular, good ol' fashioned flour? While some folks are praising Baba L. for the sourdough, hubs and I found the texture unappealing and tasteless. Everything that went on top of the crust though, was tasty. My small Pomodoro Bianco with fresh mozzarella, roasted portobello, garlic, tomatoes, red onions, chevre (opted out of it), pesto and Parmesan sounds like a mouthful- but the tomato slices were too thick. Hubs liked his pepperoni pie and seasony sauce ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Even with like 45 minutes to spare before their 3pm Sunday closing time, we were seated smoothly without the rush from our server. So much so, folks came in droves like 20 minutes to closing and weren't turned away. The supposed antipasto platter was a plate of salad greens with some pizza toppings (not even good ones) couple slices of provolone or mozzarella(couldn't tell), crumbled turkey sausage, canned strips of roasted red pepper(best thing on it) canned artichoke hearts and canned ham that was substituted for prosciutto . OK, so it's a pizza place, but the pizza sucked. Not to be mean, but we had three different large pizzas and the crust was definitely not sourdough, or if it was it was old and not treated correctly . The toppings were OK but the crust was soggy, bland and not risen. This place years ago we remembered being very good, but definitely not worth the $ or trouble now. This was an excellent choice for a Sunday lunch. We ordered the Dolce Vita, which was delicious. The crust isn't 'New York style' nor 'Boston style', and although I was looking forward to a NYC crust, it was delicious nonetheless. (Yes - I know we weren't in NYC or Boston). We split a large and had lots of leftovers. Our niece had a huge salad (apparently all their salads are huge) which was excellent. Sad that their place in Great Barrington closed but we have always loved their Hudson location. We discovered a few years ago before we moved to GB. Their Vegetazione pizza is our favorite but with the sourdough crust (spelt is available). Paired with Dawn's Salad. Perfetto! read more

The pizza is good, the ambience is great, and it's very affordable Food: we ordered the promodoro bianca, ricardos pizza famosa, and the margarita pizza! They were all good! My favorite was the ricardos pizza because I enjoyed the cheese and the tangy sauce! My friends really liked the pomodoro pizza - it had a lot of veggies and used pesto instead of tomato sauce - which gave it a very different flavor. I don't recommend the margarita pizza. Price: the pizzas were very reasonable - about $22 per large pizza and $16 for a small. I split 2 larges and 1 small and it came out to about $15 per person Ambience: nice location with good seating Service: it's very slow but I think that's also becuase it's busy. Also has a table set in a small nook just to the left of the entrance with a view of the street. There is outdoor seating as well. The noise level is manageable to the point you could carry on a conversation without yelling. Service was great with a very friendly server who did a good job checking in with us. Having longed for rare sourdough pizza for more than three years, a fresh visit, we felt, would fill the void. However, it was not to be. While the recalled flavors remained, the pie was anything but hot on arrival. While not cold, it was at best, to be fair, tepid. We chose not to complain. I spent a WFH week at my best friend's new place up in Hudson. After a long day of work, we called in an order for the small Dirty Brutto and the Pomodoro Bianco pizzas. Order was ready in 20s minutes for pickup and we swooped on by after picking up a bottle of wine a few storefronts down. They're only doing takeouts and the server met me at the storefront to take my name and grab our order. She was incredibly sweet and accommodating. We selected these pizzas as they were both really interesting. All of their flavor combinations are - and the fact that you can create your own with a bevy of toppings is also astounding. The pesto on the Dirty Brutto has such a strong aroma that we couldn't at first place what it was when we had the pizzas in the car. After cracking open our bottle of wine, and helping ourselves to a slice of each, we went to town finishing off the two pies. The Dirty Brutto is a hefty pizza, really fills you up and of the two, was just slightly more my favorite. I think the chèvre on the pomodoro bianco was a little off for me. Always great pizza and friendly staff but theres's some crotchety, totally unappealing and clearly frustrated near octogenarian waste of oxygen that seats you. With regret that is the first impression of the establishment and my very strong recommendation would be a pink slip immediately, either that or the glue factory... Just don't hold the food and the staff accountable for this old crusty curmudgeon who is probably on the last exit to Brooklyn with any luck. Wine list is really shabby too. read more

Great pizza in Hudson, located on the main street in town. There's a bunch of beautiful shops to visit nearby if you're interested in antiques, and this pizza joint really hit the spot in between walking around the city. The staff was friendly and provided some excellent beer pairings (they had a milk stout on draft that I'd also rate 5 starts) to accompany the pizza we ordered. A few large pizzas were the right size to share between 5-6 people. My favorite was the Dolce Vita (see attached photo) because it had a balance of both meats and veggies. This place does everything right. From the moment we entered to receiving the check, we were met with polite and kind staff. The level of service at this restaurant is among some of the highest I have received at any restaurant. I appreciate all of the effort the team gives; it certainly does not go unnoticed. For the space, I have not been to this restaurant pre-Covid, but I love how the seating is organized. There are a number of booth-style seating areas that make the space seem more private and comfortable. As for the pizza, the ingredients on both of the pizzas were so clearly high quality; everything was really fresh and delicious. Melanzana Cardinale Pizza - A solid pizza with all of the works, this pizza was loaded with toppings. All of the ingredients went well together. The pesto really helped connect all of the flavors together. A common theme among the pizzas is the crispy crust! The sourdough crusts were really tasty and held everything together -- a difficult feat with relatively heavy toppings and pesto sauce. Cole's Creation Pizza - A more refreshing pizza, this one is akin to a salad pizza. While it is not one I would typically order, I can see the appeal. Again, the ingredients were very fresh. My girlfriend loved this one and said she would order it again. One enhancement would be to chop the arugula so that a bite does not pull more than expected -- a small enhancement to help those who resist using a fork and knife on pizza. Tried this spot dor the first time abs had a lovely time with my partner. Tables and chairs outside certainly made the experience lovely as we were able to people watch, watch the cars drive by, and the lovely scenery. The busboy, Jake, was phenomenal. Very polite young man, attentive, and caring. It was a bit windy and my menu flew away to the other side of the road. I felt extremely bad; however, Jake was caring enough to tell me it was no problem and walked to the other side of the street to get it for me. Our waitress, Jean, was lovely. She made sure all of our needs were met. Our food was great. Salad and pasta were amazing. If you're in the area of hudson, definitely check out this place. PS. Stumbled upon this while walking through warren street on our weekend visit to hudson.The sourdough pizza seemed very interesting and ordered takeout. We tried the split pea soup(one of the daily specials) and 3 pizzas. The split pea soup was amazing.We ordered a quart of it and finished it among 4 of us. The 3 pizzas were great. Isabella was very different from the pizzas we ever had.Was very skeptical about the sweet potato topping intially but it was tasty. Whoa. I loveee the variety of pizza toppings. I got a half and half and was pleased with the flavor combo. The salads I found pricey for what they were. $10 for a single sliced up portobello cap on a bed of greens.... pretty steep. But that pizza though, crispy crust. The fig, spinach, cheese was ohhhhh soooo good. The puttanesca side was a tad too salty for my liking. And not a personal fan of anchovies as I've discovered. We are always on the lookout for vegan options. There are a few real vegan options or items that they can adjust to be vegan. The pizza is incredible. The crust is thin and crispy. Several specialty pizzas that are truly unique. There is sourdough and regular crust. If you aren't up for pizza, they have other options. The staff is super friendly and very efficient.
