Wait time was short but FYI they are first come first serve unless you call ahead for the weekend. This is great barbeque. My tag line for this place is "Anyone who says food doesn't make you happy, has never had this man's brisket.

Drove 11 miles to Brooks Place after seeing they had made the top 50 Best BBQ places in Texas. Brooks is in trailer located in a shopping center. They have a couple of wooden tables if you want to eat there. I bought a half of pound of sliced brisket to go. Brisket tasted very good, just enough fat mixed with meat. Smoke flavor but not overly so. Sauce was OK but meat was tasty without it. Problem was that they committed a BBQ mortal sin. At least one third of the brisket was cut with the grain not across the grain. I can't imagine a place on the top 50 making this kind of rookie mistake. I will probably try them again if I'm in the area. But. I will not drive out of my way. If I go back I will point out to them the error of their ways. Would have given four stars for flavor. read more

Let me start by saying customer service should be the most important thing when it comes to your business . If you don't have a decent customer service/attitude then no matter how good your food is you'll never fully succeed. My hubby went ahead of me while I put our two dogs on a leash so we could follow him . As soon as I was close to the food truck. Not even inside his " area" he looked at me and with his " hand " told me to move away because apparently dogs were not allowed . He didn't even speak. I believe if you have a restaurant or a food truck and would like people to become loyal customers you should TALK TO them instead of using hand gestures. If he would have said to me hello ma'am sorry we don't allow dogs near the food truck I would have understood . But NO. That was completely rude . I would have told my husband for us to leave but he had already placed the order. I had to stay away from the food truck and needed to give my husband a phone call to let him know that I'll be far away . Now when it comes to the food . The ribs were good , and so was the brisket . Chicken was dry . Garlic potato as well . 2 stars because of the attitude I have received instead of him actually talking to me like a respected customer . read more

Best dang BBQ ever! We got BBQ for over 25 people this last weekend and everyone LOVED it! His baked beans are hands down the best. Make sure you get plenty of his awesome sauce! I don't really like BBQ. Yep, heresy from a native Texan, but true. I LOVE this place. I have never eaten BBQ as good as the brisket here. The best. Period. Get the regular brisket, if you know what's good for you. I have yet to try the lean brisket, so I can't speak for that. The sausage is good as well, but the brisket will outshine it. The beans are the best side, IMHO. The mac-n-cheese is pretty good and the garlic potatoes are good as well. They have drinks available in the cooler or bring your own. They have a covered eating area as well. It was pretty nice to sit there, in spite of the brutal temps we have been having. BTW, their sauce is really good as well. But you won't need it. Was wonderful the first time we visited. After that my husband went 3 more times( that they were open) and tried to take his coworkers twice and they were closed, of the three times he actually got food the quality was subpar for the prices paid. The sides were bitter and cold and tasted cheap and the meat seemed to be rushed very little smokey flavor. The people who took his order were very rude and kurt. Always seems to be closed at different random times which makes it hard to want to bring friends to. We love to support local business but we just cant stomach throwing away our money on this food any longer. read more

Good luck going here when they're actually open. They DO NOT follow the hours listed here. I've been to this location at least 10 times and only found them open once for breakfast. I've gone several different days and hours but only got lucky that once. I guess I just have bad luck, or maybe this place is just never open. I'm giving up on this place. Got the 4-meat plate (pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs, sausage) to go, which comes with 2 sides (chose garlic cubed potatoes and green beans), 2 bread slices in a baggie and separate mini container of BBQ sauce (which wasn't needed), plus the chicken. Before I could even taste it, the distinct aroma of hickory smoke wafted throughout my car...much later, my fingers and lips. The helpings were more than generous, fine by me & more to savor for later -- totally worth it, so I can't complain about the price/quality/quantity. The hickory smoke ring dark bark looked burnt -- but no, it tasted divine imparting a naturally slightly sweet outer layer, savory seasoned just right with a hint of picante. I nearly cried with how awesome and tender all the meats tasted. My biggest disappointment is that Brooks' Place is too far from My Place. My greatest regret is that I hadn't ordered more or even come sooner upon reading the well-deserved positive reviews and newspaper highlights. I only had the sliced beef brisket (2) and pork ribs (3) with potatoes salad and black beans or the two meats and two sides plate. Both meats Smokey and juice. The pork ribs fall of the bone tender. Beef brisket was Smokey but not over powering and pull apart soft. I like to eat bbq with out sauce to tell how good the Smokey product is and no need for sauce. But the plate did come with sauce, sweet and tangy, perfect for me. The only thing that was a surprise the was the black beans, they have a little fiery kick spicy.... My wife wants me to stop by again today and get another plate..lol. read more

went here for lunch on a weekday to try this place out after reading about it as one of the few houston area bbq spots in texas monthly magazine. it is not a sit-down restaurant, it is a bbq pit in a trailer, which got me even more pumped. it is in the parking lot of ace hardware. i ordered the 2-meat plate special for $13. i got the brisket and sausage along with potato salad and baked beans. the brisket was very flavorful and tender. the dry rub on the brisket gave a little sweet taste, which i enjoyed. the sausage was good and had a smoky flavor. the potato salad and baked beans were awesome. the potato salad was not too heavy on the mayonaise and the beans had some good flavor to them. i also got a dr. pepper for $1.75. there are a total of 2 picnic tables with tarps over them in front of brooks' place. this place is your classic food truck, so don't expect full waiter service in A/C. they do accept credit card. they also cater, but require advance reservations on the weekends. it is a little pricy for what i expected, but nothing outrageous. if you're looking for some good bbq out of a hole in the wall, this is your place. read more

Finally I have found my go to BBQ spot in the cypress jersey village area. Good smoke flavor is a must for me and most places around here just don't come anywhere near brooks. Good smoke, good bark, and meat was moist and tender. Can't beat that combo. Best part is it's just a guy and his pit. This isn't some fancy restaurant with crappy BBQ. Some of the best BBQ I have ever had has came from places just like this. A guy(or gal) and their pit. That's real BBQ. Baked beans were good as well but wasn't huge fan of the dirty rice. A friend of ours introduced to Brooks' Place, which is in the top 50 of BBQ's. This is definitely real Texas BBQ. I heard the owner wakes up before the crack of dawn, just to get started on the moist brisket! THe moist brisket is possibly the best I've had in Houston. It's extremely tender, has a nice smoky taste but it just melts right in your mouth. The pork ribs were fall off the bone tender. The BBQ sauce has its' own unique, tangy flavor. I have wanted to try this local food truck for several years now and just got home to find a total disappointment in my "to-go" box. I ordered a Double Barrel sandwich and "the Sniper" and had asked for half lean and half moist on my order of sliced beef for the sniper plate. The woman who took my order was very nice and professional. She explained that the DB sandwich was half sliced brisket and half sausage and totaled close to half pound in weight. I opted for the garlic potatoes and mac and cheese for my sides. I ordered and waited. I left with a weighted bag and thought the weight signified a fare amount of food. When I got home, I found that the sandwich had three overcooked slices of sausage and one very large chunk of fat with a burnt end opposite the fat. The bun was saturated in grease through and through, and a total of about 2 oz. of very tasty beef was on the DB sandwich. The "sniper" plate left me feeling like I had just been ripped off. More sliced fat and a wee bit of moist brisket covered the entree section of the container and the sides were half filled in the sides portion of the container. No lean brisket was to be found. I will state that the potatoes and mac and cheese were very tasty but minimal portions were offered as sides. (they covered half of the area that were posted by other patrons of the to-go box shown) I paid a total of $25.96 (including tax). I felt like the character Leo Getz when writing this review. We ordered ribs and brisket. My ribs were super salty, a bit tough and seemed as if they were cooked the day before or very early in the day. I liked the potato salad but it was too sweet. The almond cranberry slaw was not good. There was zero flavor or dressing. My partners brisket was dry, the beans were excellent and the garlic potatoes were not good. There was no smoke coming from the trailer. We are guessing it was all pre cooked. It was 35 dollars for two plates. No drinks. I didn't see any fixings like onion, pickle, salt, pepper, etc. there isn't enough overhead to justify the prices. I appreciate that it is open carry, and I don't mind the hundreds of signs dictating behavior cause it's his place. I also agree with it all. However, it's lacking that welcoming, country charm. I wanted juicy, smoky, succulent ribs and these fell flat. We wouldn't go back and it's a shame cause we like to support local business folks. read more

My first time getting by Brook's place and I am glad I did. After reading the reviews I knew it was good, but this was GREAT! The brisket is top notch 5-star quality. I didn't even use the sauce (I tasted a little). The bark on brisket was like a little piece of heaven. The ribs I give 4-stars. Better than most, but not quite as good as the brisket. Mr. Brooks even came out and sat with the 4 of us eating there and asked about the food and other BBQ joints, very nice man.
