Long standing wait at a single self checkout kiosk, just to have a long wait for food that was not good in any way. The French fries were garbage. The "Wings" are no good. The Jerked chicken was no good. The prices are way too high for the crap food you get. Catering Experience: We ordered catering for a birthday party. We order the Korean beef (bulgogi), wings, and fried rice. It came with servicing spoons, tongs, and utensils. I have dined many times at the Chimac on FM 1960 near Jones Road and recently tried their new location here. It's easy to find at the end cap of a strip center with plenty of parking spaces. Inside it's small. Very rectangular in shape being narrow but deep. It has a self ordering kiosk near the entrance along with regular counter service. The kitchen is open and you can watch them make your meal. They have a self serve fountain drink station but unfortunately no kool aid like the 1960 location. I ordered the cheesesteak combo with onion rings for $13.89. That day for lunch they were busy and it took about 20 minutes for my food to be ready. My meal was identical to their other location and that is a compliment. The cheesesteak was delicious and cheesy with plenty of beef, mushrooms and onions. The bread is kind of spongy which makes the sandwich more filling. The onion rings were hot and good with a medium thickness batter. With my soft drink it was a very good $15 meal w/tax. Nut allergy note: I don't think they use nuts in anything, but I did have a moderate allergic reaction triggered somewhere. I'm not sure if it was too intense sesame or something else that may have been cross-contaminated/a rare "May Contain" actually having issues, but I would be careful. Fast Korean is becoming popularized and I'm all for it! I'm very familiar with Chi'Lantro from my time in Austin and their grand opening in the Heights, so I was excited to try Chimac. Parking: Plenty in the strip mall type area. I came in around 2PM on Sunday and there were a few people there and no line. The ordering process was very straightforward. I ordered the spicy steak with all add-ons and Lo Mein, and chose Lemon Pepper and Spicy Korean BBQ for my sauces for the wings. I also got a rice bowl with chicken as I intended to share the meal with friends. The lo mein and wings were easily enough to feed two people. I did think that the wings were on the smaller side, but even after traveling 20 minutes they stayed relatively crispy (I did open the box so that they don't steam-soften). I thought of the sauces, the Chimac sauce was the best to go with the meal. If Chimac opened in the Heights, I'm sure they would be very successful! I hope that a location closer to me opens at some point. read more

Always been wanting to try Chimac since passing it on 1960, but since new location opened closer to home, it was a no brainer to try it for dinner one day. Though typically I would've ordered the wings, this time I elected to get something "healthier" - ie: one of the Korean-style bowls. Using the website to order was quick, easy to navigate, and pay. Order pick up was fast and seamless. I ordered the kbbq chicken bowl with extra meat. Extra meat is definitely a must if you want to have a full feeling as there is a lot of rice at the bottom of that bowl. The caramelized onions were still crunchy, didn't like that. The chicken was cooked well, but there should be more sauce used within the bowl - it would have made the dish taste a lot better. Next time - I guess I should just stick with the wings. read more

Yum! This local gem just opened up in my neighborhood in Cypress. My husband and I walked in to order and carry out. With plenty of parking, we found a clean restaurant with super friendly employees. I ordered a beef bowl. I was able to create it with my base--fried rice. I added a fried egg and Korean BBQ sauce. I know. I kept it pretty simple! My husband ordered the chicken strips as well as a chicken bowl. His base was white rice and he added veggies. They gave him several dipping sauces to try with his chicken strips. Delicious tasting food. I found it to taste like Korean American food almost that like I'd find out a food truck delicious flavors, freshly prepared with the rice bowls I wanted to be more like Bibibop and so I found it more just like A rice bowl with extra fixings the chicken wings with the bone in were very delicious and moist however, I found the grilled chicken in the bowl to be more like teriyaki and less like chicken Bulgogi and a little bit dry. Also, I wanted the kimchi to have a little stronger flavor, but I think it was muted by the spicy Korean barbecue sauce, which really isn't like that the red sauce you'd find in Bibibop. I'd recommend this place and received friendly and helpful service from Kort. The interior is clean, and the parking lot can get full during busy times. They had a kiosk to pre order but when we looked at the menu, looks like we can custom make our bowls. I learned about this amazing place through a Yelp event and I must say I was blown away by the customer service. Kort was the first person at the register and was so warm and truly helped me with the menu and recommendations, he was literally perfect. Came here for their grand opening and my friend and I ordered the steak bowl and fried chicken (spicy korean bbq and honey garlic pepper). The steak bowls were very filling. Mine included fried rice, noodles, spicy beef, kimchi, a variety of different veggies, beans, and a fried egg on top. I don't think I've ever had beans in a korean-inspired bowl but I didn't mind it lol. And depending on how many toppings you get, the bowl can honestly be made into two meals so it's definitely worth! As for the fried chicken, it's pretty solid!
