KBBQ Chicken Bowl and Jumbo Shrimp Bowl
    Sharonda D.

"MY GO-TO 'LAZY DAY' BOWL SPOT IN CYPRESS" Chimac has become one of my go-to spots for those lazy days when I don't feel like cooking a long dinner for me and my husband, so I was thrilled when they opened a location in Cypress. Convenient concept: a full meal in a bowl. You pick a protein, a starch, and load up on vegetables. You can add an extra protein for an upcharge, but the portions are so generous that we've never felt like we needed it. Let's talk about their wings, which are a pleasant surprise! They're made fresh to order, and they come out crispy, crunchy, and seriously addictive. My husband and I usually grab a 10-piece order to share along with our bowls, and it's a lot of food for an affordable price. If you're a dipper like me, you'll love that they offer five sauces: ranch, honey mustard, KBBQ, spicy KBBQ (made with 19 different spices), and their signature Chimac sauce. My fav, the Chimac sauce is mango-flavored and adds the perfect little mango pizazz, especially on the plain wings. Food Rating: Plain Fried Wings: 5/5 Crunchy, Juicy, and Flavorful. Perfect size; no huge, fatty, "pumped-up" wings here. Just good meat and crispy skin. Garlic Pepper Wings- 5/5 Served piping hot and extra crispy! So good! Jumbo Shrimp Bowl: 5/5 Big portions and the shrimp are a great size, packed with flavor. Korean Jerk Chicken Bowl: 5/5 The Jerk chicken in this dish is delectable, savory, and coated in saucy goodness. Overall, Chimac is a fresh and innovative fast-casual concept that fits my eating style, especially because it offers healthier options. The open kitchen is a nice touch; you can watch everything being prepared. Customer service can be hit-or-miss depending on who's taking orders, and wait times vary. If you order wings, expect a longer wait since they're cooked fresh. The dining area is small, but parking is plentiful. We usually order to-go, and our food is still surprisingly hot by the time we get home. I highly recommend this fast-casual Korean establishment for its flavorful bowls, crispy wings, and fun dipping sauces in a unique fast-casual spot. You will not be disappointed!

Onion rings and cheese steak sandwich.

Wednesday dine in lunch. Their dining area was clean and well kept. Went there to try the onion rings. Added a cheesesteak sandwich and drink. Rings were thick, freshly fried up, and cooked to perfection. Cheesesteak was tasty with fresh onion and bell peppers. Left very happy with those onion rings. Will be back.

Spicy pork bowl and chicken bowl were both good. Pork was medium heat, the small bowls are mostly rice. If you eat a lot try the large bowl, but half of it is rice white or fried, you can choose your own toppings. The wings were a dry rub and very tasty, think they were honey garlic flavor. Service was fast because you can order at the kiosk, but if it is your first time, order at the register, friendly employees at barker cypress location. Small store with around 8 tables. Clean restrooms. 4.5

Honestly, the food here is amazing. I was craving kbbq, but I didn't feel like driving 30 minutes through traffic so I searched for a nearby spot and this popped up. I ordered a steak kbbq bowl with Kim chi, fried rice and an egg. And holy cow, everything was delicious. I ordered a large bowl and it could probably get me 2 meals. The steak was well seasoned and spiced. The Kim chi wasn't too overwhelming and was crunchy and fresh. The fried rice wasn't greasy and moist. I also ordered the Korean fried wings and the kim chi fries and they were also huge portioned. I could feed a family of 4 with what I ordered.

I ordered to go and it was ready within 10 mins. I ordered 20 bone in wings and large onion rings. For the wings I had half spicy Korean bbq and the other flavor honey garlic . I was a tad disappointed that the wings weren't "Korean" battered and double fried. I think I was expecting it since it was a Korean restaurant. Overall flavors were good, not too spicy or sweet. Wings were big in size and the onion rings were large and hot. The restaurant was very clean and well lit when I arrived. Parking is no issues either. There's plenty of parking spots. If you're looking for something different fr your regular fast food, this place will definitely do a great job delivering. Looks like they have other items such as bowls to try as well.

Very nice people and clean restaurant. Lots of takeout and dashers while we are in. I ordered the spicy cheesesteak and my daughter ordered the 4 pc tenders. Huge tenders. We used a Facebook BOGO offer. I would eat here again for sure and maybe try something I'm not used to.

So my take on this place may be a little bias because I'm used to authentic Korean food; however, the food was delicious I'd give it a solid 6/10 The ambiance of the restaurant was basic, there was nothing spectacular about the place. I'd give it 4.5/10 The service was where they are lacking the most. No welcome to chimac, no thanks for coming in, no come back again. It was here's your food, and that's it. So that definitely needs improvement. 2/10.

The service was great and fast with the food. There were seatings and colorfulness inside! Not too loud with people. For food, I got the beef bowl and six pieces of wings combo. For the beef bowl, you can add different toppings for free or for an additional price. You can choose two flavors or one flavor for the wings. As for the flavors, I got the hot lemon pepper and honey bbq. My fav was the honey bbq! It was sweet and savory! It's definitely very filling but I think it's well worth the amount you get. I would come here again to try out the other choices!

Really great place! Got one of the bowls with fried rice, spicy steak, kimchi, cabbage, onion and potstickers. Also got the bone-in lemon pepper wings. It was a huge amount of food, potstickers were crispy, wings were piping hot and juicy. Definitely recommend this place. Servicer was helpful and explained the ordering process. Food was made quickly too.

I have dined many times at the Chimac on FM 1960 near Jones Road and recently tried their new location here. It's easy to find at the end cap of a strip center with plenty of parking spaces. Inside it's small. Very rectangular in shape being narrow but deep. It has a self ordering kiosk near the entrance along with regular counter service. The kitchen is open and you can watch them make your meal. They have a self serve fountain drink station but unfortunately no kool aid like the 1960 location. I ordered the cheesesteak combo with onion rings for $13.89. That day for lunch they were busy and it took about 20 minutes for my food to be ready. My meal was identical to their other location and that is a compliment. The cheesesteak was delicious and cheesy with plenty of beef, mushrooms and onions. The bread is kind of spongy which makes the sandwich more filling. The onion rings were hot and good with a medium thickness batter. With my soft drink it was a very good $15 meal w/tax. Chimac (at any location) serves quality food at reasonable prices. I always enjoy dining at Chimac.

Nut allergy note: I don't think they use nuts in anything, but I did have a moderate allergic reaction triggered somewhere. I'm not sure if it was too intense sesame or something else that may have been cross-contaminated/a rare "May Contain" actually having issues, but I would be careful. Fast Korean is becoming popularized and I'm all for it! I'm very familiar with Chi'Lantro from my time in Austin and their grand opening in the Heights, so I was excited to try Chimac. Parking: Plenty in the strip mall type area. I came in around 2PM on Sunday and there were a few people there and no line. The ordering process was very straightforward. I ordered the spicy steak with all add-ons and Lo Mein, and chose Lemon Pepper and Spicy Korean BBQ for my sauces for the wings. I also got a rice bowl with chicken as I intended to share the meal with friends. The lo mein and wings were easily enough to feed two people. I did think that the wings were on the smaller side, but even after traveling 20 minutes they stayed relatively crispy (I did open the box so that they don't steam-soften). I thought of the sauces, the Chimac sauce was the best to go with the meal. If Chimac opened in the Heights, I'm sure they would be very successful! I hope that a location closer to me opens at some point.

These pictures are from our first visit. We have returned many many times. We absolutely love the food is always very plenty serving. I go over and over the fact that the service is always fast and kind. The young black guy who checked us in and out is always kind and working every time. The small area but it's very nice seem very clean. I really appreciate the service and also I'm just love the food.
