Texas Brisket Melt (MOIST option brisket)

This place is AMAZING. Right off 529 (Spencer rd) !!! Authentic FOOD. I smelled the meant in my mouth before I took a bite. U can smell the smoke and hours that went in to the Brisket. Can't forget the in-house made bbq sauce and bbq mustard! The mustard, surprisingly, is my favorite. The service was great! Everyone was very welcoming and ready to have me eating goood.

2 meat Pork Ribs and Sausage plate with Mac and cheese and street corn

This has been the second time I've been here and have to say, this is the better BBQ places around. Food: I had there pork ribs, sausage, street corn, and Mac n cheese. Their pork ribs were tender and the meat was soft enough to eat off the bone! It was good with their BBQ sauce and their honey mustard sauce was a tad sweet, but was still tasty. The sausage wasn't bad either. The street corn was pretty good, but the kernels were a little over done, but I still ate it all. The Mac n cheese had a really nice sauce to it and the shells captured a lot of the gooey goodness of the sauce! It was not Velveeta, that's for sure. Overall, very nice hidden gem for BBQ! It has a rustic, mom and pop feel to it. Way better than Rudy's and Lucille's from the Westside! The service was excellent as well! 10 out of 10 for sure!

Customer service 5/5 Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Finally! After years of working around the corner I finally got to try Big Berthas! They close at 2 PM or would always be sold out. I was the first customer for the day @10:45 AM. I was greeted was a warm welcome from Abel and his wife. His wife broke down the menu for me with the new items they just added, the brisket sandwich in Texas toast and the tacos. I wanted to try multiple things so I got the 3 meat plate $17.95 of brisket, ribs, and homemade sausage. I chose a seat near the beverage station and within 5 minutes the food came out! Presentation was on point! Everything looked wonderful. The ribs were cooked just right! It was tender and still had some chew to it. It takes a keen eye to pull the ribs out at the right time! Most places will just cook the ribs low and slow for a long time where they fall off the bone and have no texture and just disintegrate in your mouth like baby food. Big Bertha, you've nailed the ribs! The brisket was seasoned well. I was given more lean cut than fatty, which to my pleasant surprise it was moist! I never ask for lean cuts because 9/10 times it's too dry, however this was perfect! The homemade sausage did not WOW me. However, it was lean which I appreciated since most sausage are extremely fatty. There were two types of BBQ sauce. I preferred the mustard based one. Abel and his wife has been living out Abel's dream of having a restaurant! I love it! Abel has been cooking in the Houston rodeo cook off for the last 27 years! They are extremely welcoming and down to earth. Come support them!

First time here after passing by so many times. We ordered brisket plate, baked potato, chopped beef sandwich and fried okra. I had the brisket plate. I ordered moist but some pieces were dry and a bit hard. Flavor was good though. Mac and cheese and beans were ok. Fried okra is my absolute fav so I was happy to see they had it. They offer a variety of bbq sauces. I really like the honey mustard flavored one. Will return!

I came in from California (LA area) for a visit. LA is not known for bbq, but since I was in Texas I thought I'd try some bbq. I gotta say, this place is delicious! I don't have much experience to compare to... but I absolutely loved this place. Service was great, employees were nice, food was better. I ordered the brisket melt. I would recommend!

My colleagues were in town wanting "real Texas bbq". I found this place listed in Yelp so we descended. The brisket was juicy s d flavorful. I had potato salad and baked beans that were great! The sauces were good. The red sauce tasted a little smoky like a touch of chipotle. The other sauce was like a honey mustard. I enjoyed it and will gladly return.

I was craving a brisket sandwich so bad a couple of days ago. I found this place on the map and after seeing the reviews I decided that I had to try it! If you were to drive past it you probably wouldn't think much of the place but trust me, you need to stop and try it!!! I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, the beans and Mac and cheese. I couldn't decide on one side so I had to get 2 lol which came out quite pricey. Nonetheless, the food was just as I expected... delicious. I usually don't like beans at all, but these were probably the best beans I've ever had. That says a lot. My craving for brisket was definitely satisfied!!! I will definitely be back.

It was a beautiful day, so it would have been the perfect day to eat outside if you like that. I'm an eat indoors kind of person, but if you like to eat outside, they do have a few tables for that. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

Eat, Drink, HTX…read more Made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner for three. The restaurant is so cute and cozy with tables and booths. Lots of TVs to watch the Olympic Games while you wait for dinner. I liked watching the open pizza oven. They make a lot of pizzas here. The Eat, Drink, HTX menus are a great way to try new restaurants while giving back to the Houston Food Bank. A starter, an entree and a dessert. $25 for dinner. So many choices on this menu. A great deal while helping out those in need. "Started" with the Turkey Samosas. Four crispy pastries that are filled with seasoned ground turkey, potatoes and parsley served with cucumber yogurt. Delicious! The Ember & Greens Soup that my family had was hot, hot, hot and so tasty. The fresh soup was filled with a blend of spinach, parsley, and cilantro with chickpeas, caramelized onions, pinto beans and quinoa. My FIL polished off his bowl! For dinner, we all had the Blackened Salmon. The salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa served on roasted carrots, broccoli and potatoes and a bed of quinoa. It was a full plate, which we all took home for dinner the next day. Note: it is quite buttery. My FIL had his butter and avocado salsa on the side which worked for him. I loved mine as is. Even though we were pretty full, we still enjoyed dessert. The tiramisu was so indulgent. Loved the layered mascarpone custard, whipped cream, coffee liqueur and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. My FLI had the Chia Seed Pudding with fresh berries. What a great meal. We had a slight hiccup where the appetizers came slightly after the main meal was served, but they were so honest about what happened that I still have to give them five stars for their food and their service. Would try them again for their generous, delicious meals. Lots of parking. Water glasses were frequently filled both with and without meals. Thank you for a really nice Sunday night dinner with family.

So I have tried the regular Caesar sandwich and the cojito- def love the cojito it's a bit of a Tex-Mex Caesar salad taste. If you don't have very many locations aren't exactly established yet in the city you're trying to plant in, and a patron comes in and says it's their first time, some recommendations and signature dish items would be nice to hear. There were a lot of staff on this Sunday afternoon, but didn't really see there was much effort into the overall experience. The food station was dirty and messy, there were gnats flying around our food where we were sitting, and when we got our zeppelins, it was drenched or drowning in the dressing and th overall sandwich was overly salty because of it. I ordered the Mediterranean Cobb and held off on the blue cheese and subbed feta. The grilled chicken literally was so chewy and tasted like rubber I had to spit it out and then pick the rest of the chicken out, this place is NOT cheap. Quite pricey for a large sub stuffed with a salad. If you're paying $15 for a sandwich, you expect to get quality ingredients. The chicken was not edible. Staff just stood around and would chit chat, not really attentive or maintaining the restaurant very well. I'm willing to give it another shot maybe and try their salad...but I'd heed on the dressing and ask for it on the side.

And she was just slower overall like I had to ask for bread, bc I thought I had to order it or something, she was just not very welcoming and informative overall. Very bare minimum but hey whatever maybe she was off that day. I'll come again at an earlier time and see if it's a different experience. But it was okay overall, it could have been better with service so hopefully they do that bc there is multiple reviews about service complaints. But I was excited for the knafeh bc I love that dessert and no it was just not good. It wasn't crunchy I don't even think they used phyllo dough idk not the best would never order again was disappointed. But anywho this place could be better if they fixed these issues.

The Korean chicken bao huns were pretty good with a combination of sweet, savory, and a little bit of acid from the pickled veggies. The Brussel sprouts were good but there was way too much oil in the dish so every bite felt heavier that it should have been. The Cajun fries had good flavor but were really salty.
