They have no respect for the pandemic.
    Rick F.

I've tried. I've given it my best shot. And I just don't get it. It's been four separate times that I've given this place a shot and I still don't get it. Now I have to give props for their style of the BBQ here. The best meats are made on a wood burning grill. No propane, just all wood and charcoal. So hats off for that. That said, I have to stop there. When I pull up to a place like this I expect to be totally blown away on flavor. In every bite I want to taste the passion on that grill. Each and everytime I've been here it fail short of passion. In fact, it taste like perhaps there once upon a time was passion, but that passion has fled like a divorced couple from a burning house. Sorry Brooks fans I'm just not impressed. It's a high price for barely mediocre BBQ. Everytime I go there to give it a shot, I leave telling myself to just stick with cooking it myself at home. Is there tenderness in the meat? Yes. It's just lacking in flavor and care. Even the sauce they have doesn't save it. Now maybe it's just me and the impression I got from reading the reviews. See I know how to BBQ. I know what I'm doing on a pit. And I have been blown away before on others BBQ so there is no hateraid coming from me. I'm just being honest. I don't get it here. I simply don't get why so many are so blown away on the BBQ. Based on some of these reviews perhaps I'm in the wrong business and need to go into the BBQ business. Again, hats off to Brooks for staying in the business this long and being able to build a following. But it's not for me. Oh and the service... Not something you want to write home about. It sometimes can be down right rude. And if you are Covid conscience then you may not want to bother even going. They make it very clear on social media and advertising that nobody can dare tell them what to do. Do not expect good customer service there. Just move it along like cattle. Be Nice and Prosper!

My wife and I stopped by Brook's place for lunch. We were not disappointed. The brisket was right on the money, true Texas style BBQ. Perfectly seasoned, smoked to a tender texture. We enjoyed every bite. We had potato salad and beans as sides. The potato salad is tasty and the beans are great. He does serve sauce with the brisket, but it doesn't need it at all. To each his own on that. Mr. Brooks is a no nonsense man and likes to run his business his way. I can respect that, after all I don't have to go if I don't want to. However, I choose to go because he's a 100% legit pit master. I happen to align with his views but that doesn't sway my personal decision to patronize his business. There is a reason he makes it in the Texas Monthly too 50 BBQ joints. It because of his product. Keep up the great work sir, we'll keep coming back as long as you're still making awesome BBQ!

Brooks' Place is absolute fire!! If your looking for some Delicious BBQ this is the spot trust me. Ribs so tender chicken falling off the bone and don't get me started on that damn brisket slap your mama good(Don't really slap your mom lol). They catered my mom 60th birthday and everyone at the party was so impressed with the food that kept asking me now where is he located. I know your interested in pricing and customer service let me just say pricing in a little on the higher end but it's worth it. The last few times I've been up there let's just say Mr. Brooks was strapped and greeted me with a nice hello. Oh yeah total forgot about the barbecue sauce.I really had a come-to-jesus moment on that it was if was so freakin good. Moral of the review checkout Brooks' Place you won't regret it.

I've been hearing about Brooks's Place for some time now and decided I needed to go check it out. Got a chance to speak with Mr Brooks before ordering and he told me he's been there for 10 years offering catering, special events and general sales. He told me he doesn't need to check the temp because he can look at the meat and know it's done. Very impressive because sometimes meet can be stubborn, especially during a stall. I ordered sliced brisket and sausage. WOW!! That was the most tender brisket I've ever eaten in my life. It was falling apart when I would try and pick it up. Amazing! The sausage had great flavor as well. I love smoked food and this place did not disappoint. Go check it out soon and bring some friends!

2 Meat plate - brisket, pork ribs, potato salad and baked beans. Incredibly flavorful smoked Meat and delicious sides.

I absolutely love their food. This is hands down the most consistent BBQ place in the area. Owner is always present, friendly and strapped. I love their policy on firearms and that they offer a discount if you have licences to conceal and carry. I fell safe here. Even the menu is artillery themed. They are located in the parking lot near Ace. Can't miss them. They have lots of tables with benches. Tables always clean, utensils, napkins, lighters whatever you need. Definitely good for groups. The BBQ isn't cheap but it's sooo worth it. The crust and smoke on their brisket is a clear sign of a well crafted skill and process. Their BBQ sauce is so delicious I've been trying to make my own. I never get lean brisket bit I'm sure it's just as great. I believe the portion is very fair and I always feel satisfied or I can't finish it. Leftovers are delicious too. They have tons of sides, all delicious but sometimes they sell out of the more popular items. I like the Mac and Cheese, beans and potatoe salad the most. Garlic potatoes are seasonal. They are opened must days off the week and only close if they sell out. I usually visit around lunch between 1-3 and they aren't over crowded. This place has become a staple in the community. It's a treasure and completely unique. I hope they are around forever.

Brooks BBQ is a Cypress legend and sometimes South Texas BBQ truth is found in the parking lot of an Ace hardware. Got to meet the man himself and he even obliged a selfie. The brisket was moist and succulent. The ribs perfect fall the bone. The sausage was snappy with a nice pepper spice. Sides: Potato Salad, Beans, Onions, pickles, bread were the perfect compliment to the meats.

Finally got a chance to eat here and it did not disappoint! Perfect stop for a lunch break if you need food fast! Will definitely be back! The owner is heavily involved in the local community by hosting a free dinner for a family of 6 every month and lifesaving blood drives in memory of his wife!

We also had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Sean, who was incredibly kind and took the time to answer all of our questions. The guys doing the BBQ today were 2 young men and they did it right. I didn't ask their credentials because it doesn't matter. I like Spring Creek Barbeque! I think their bbq chicken is among the best. Yup, I'm saying it and I don't give a damn who says different. My wife and I decided to eat at Spring Creek on 290 because she had a teacher appreciation coupon. I had the 3 meat combination with Lean Brisket, dark meat chicken, and St. Louis style ribs. My sides were beans and green beans. My wife had a baked potato fully loaded no meat. Today the ribs were really good. They were firm yet tender, didn't push back on the bite through but nothing stuck on the bone. The chicken was good, but it's been better. The brisket was lean and pretty good. Honestly usually get marbled brisket because I like the fatty pieces. My wife's baked potato was great, the cheese was fresh and the sour cream kicking! Spring Creek is reasonably priced and hits the BBQ sweet spot for me. I like it better than other chain bbq restaurants, because I like eating on a plate.

That is about all I can say about this place as I usually love Spring Creek, but not having the chance to dine, I cannot opine (heh...rhymes) on their fares here. After doing my research and seeing food bloggers post online about this place, I decided to try it! We went on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm - packed! There were no tables available inside and there were people inside and outside waiting for their orders. That's something to be ready for if you come on a Saturday. Our order didn't actually take that long. Or maybe it took a little while and we didn't mind waiting. Either way, it wasn't that bad! Luckily it's located in a shopping area so there's always parking. My main gripe is that they close at 7pm. I'm sure there's a good reason for that but I've wanted to try it multiple times before but they've been closed! I ended up going with the infamous brisket and fried rice. The brisket was super tender - I was able to pull it apart with my fork. I typically shy away from brisket because usually it's tough. But this was delicious - tender and had a nice smoky flavor. Not overwhelming or too salty. The rice had a great flavor too. There were chunks of meat in that as well and the rice had a nice smoky flavor. Not too salty or greasy. It also came with some accoutrements - pickled onions, fresh pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, bbq sauce and bread. The cucumbers and onions stole the show - very fresh and refreshing. We were surprised at the pickled onions - they were soo good! Overall - worth the hype! I'll definitely be back to try ribs, chicken or pulled pork sandwich. I heard everything is good here!!

To my surprise; fried rice was filled with extra brisket and chinese sausage! The pickle Jalapeño's were very tasty. Perhaps both the pickles and pickled Jalapeños are made in house. Only gripe that deducted a star would be the sitting arrangement. I mean there is only a handful of chairs available inside. They do have a spacious outdoor patio; but being almost 100 degrees outside it was not worth my sweat dripping down to the brisket making it saltier. Almost have to wait around and time it, until the next freed up seating is available. Don't recommend to bring young kids or large groups. If I was an angel investor, my money would go to them to expand to a larger location! Pains me to see large chain restaurants be able to afford such a large buildings and serve mediocre food. Eh hemmm.. Spring Creek Barbecue. Support local; Support H-town! Overall definitely worth a try!

I'd say the portion size was decent. The food came out quick and piping hot, which was a plus. My friends and I decided to dine in, there was plenty of seating offered. The wall decor let you know exactly where you were with is bright neon signs. One of the main reasons I am taking two stars a way was not for lack of good customer service, but because of cleanliness in the lobby, including a large dead bug in the corner by where we sat. Tables were also wobbly and needed a wipe down. Aside from that, the food was ok and the person who took our orders was cheery. Chimac did not offer patio seating outside, and for the cost of the food, you get enough to pack up and take home with you for a snack later. The food is worth checking out, so if you don't eat inside at least get you something to-go. Enjoy!
