Stopped by for lunch and was delighted! The atmosphere was really warm and friendly. We were seated pretty quickly and service was initially fast. Per our server's recommendation, we tried the skillet brisket queso and that did not disappoint! It was really good - I just wish there were jalapeños to really give it a nice kick, but we enjoyed it. I ordered the brisket plate with macaroni & cheese and potato salad; got it with all the fixings: pickles, onions, and pickled jalapeños. The brisket is more fatty than what I've had before but I didn't hate it - I wish it had a bit more flavor. The star was their homemade BBQ sauce - absolutely delicious! The potato salad also was a tiny bit bland but I loved the onions and relish in it. Macaroni and cheese was alright! I had also ordered a coke zero and that came in a giant red cup which I appreciated. Our server slowly stopped checking on us after our food came out. First with the good- the band and weather were excellent, and our waitress was friendly. One of our party ordered the fried catfish and enjoyed it. Now for the not so great- went to PCs to see some live music and have dinner with friends. I ordered the 2 meat plate with turkey, ribs, potato salad and green beans. The first plate I was brought was cold, so had it remade. They turkey was okay but a bit salty, the ribs were rubbery and definitely not fall off the bone tender. I did not finish either item. The potato salad was not fresh made and tasted like / had the texture of prepackaged potato salad. The green beans were canned as well. We ordered brisket queso and got a cup of chunky queso, pork rinds were extremely seasoned but only in certain areas and some were barely edible. Fun food and a good time, But there's always a "clean" problem: Cooks on smoke break - maybe take off your cooking apron... staff don't stop by with dirty dishes to check on people eating; we don't want to see all those dirty plates or we'd eat at home, staff don't pick your nose - we see you, tables need to be wiped correctly for bbq sauce and staff don't pick gum from tables while others are trying to eat... also, change out the condiments to at least look fresh and appealing... If more restaurants could celebrate the food industry as a real profession, then cleanliness training and how to approach customers would lead to Big Profits. My partner and I were visiting from CA and really wanted to try bbq! We unfortunately were disappointed with the quality of food we received. We ordered the ribs, brisket, and sausage, and they were all very dry. The pork ribs were the most edible of the three, but we still expecting juicy and tender meat. It might've been an inconsistent batch that night, but we were still given great service for our takeout order as the host ensured we got the complimentary bread and sides with our entrees. We got the bbq plates, (ribs & sausage) and (brisket) my husband said the brisket is some of the best he's had. The rib sauce was amazing. Split these between two adults and our 12 & 10 year old. Went to dinner tonight and arrived at your restaurant at 8:11. Upon arrival we asked the hostess what time the kitchen closed and the she said 9:30. We were in the clear! (We thought) we entered the restaurant and were not spoken to for about 7 mins and then someone came up and asked up to wait a minute after we asked if we could be seated. We had some really good bbq here last night. They had live band and beautiful lighted outdoor space which was very enjoyable. Brisket, sausage and ribs were all delicious but the side dishes were ok. We had Mac and cheese and cream corn and They could use a little modifications to the recipes. We did have fried okra and it was delicious. This is the same place as Cypress Hideout so I'm gonna match my review. They've earned it! I can't say enough good things! We were looking for somewhere to go eat that we could bring our dog. When we got there it was over 100 degrees outside and the owner accommodated us like we were his VIP customers. He made sure we had the best coolest spot on the patio with plenty of fans he even opened up the back gate to let in a cross breeze. They brought our dog a bowl of water. Joe was our server and he was so great! Very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. We had the chicken fried steak (so incredibly tender) the cream corn was the best we've ever had, smoked chicken Caesar salad was scrumptious, brisket and ribs phenomenal, mashed potatoes so creamy and everything was seasoned to perfection. The pluses: great chill outdoor area -- if you're there with the fam, you can enjoy food and music while the little ones have a little freedom. The minuses: the food is totally undistinguished, like an ad for Sysco. My peppered bacon cheeseburger had an obviously pre-made and not fresh patty, leathery bacon, and a borderline stale bun. The other two dishes our table ordered included below average barbecue and nothing else that made them stand out. Beer selection was pretty good. Service was pretty terrible, overall. FYI: The best way to view the menu online is to got to the Cypress Trail Hideout website. To get to the food....I ordered the Two Meat/Two Sides meal: Lean beef brisket and boudin (I would have gotten the sausage, but they only have pork sausage), green beans, and pinto beans. The peppered bark on the brisket was amazing and it was the best, lean beef cuts I've had in a while. The boudin was a real treat, seeing as how my family is from Louisiana and it's hard to measure any boudin against what you've grown up eating. This boudin is tasty and the serving was just enough to satisfy! Even the sides were spiced up and flavorful! I've been about four times in the past two months. Please add beef sausage to your menu. I had an amazing brisket and cheese sauce that had a surprising spicy kick to it. The brisket was very was smoked and carried tremendous flavor on its own.
