Brookstone is a wonderful place to live. It is less than 1 mile from George Bellis Park. A nice place, if you want to have a picnic, take your dog for a walk, workout outdoor exercise equipment, or just relax. The staff there is very nice and accommodating. Yvienne was my leasing agent. She is very friendly, funny, and delightful. The staff stays on top of any work orders you put in and have things repaired as soon as they can. They are very friendly and approachable. Always willing to help if needed. The apartments are very spacious and has a modern look to them. It is a gated community with a pool & spa, picnic area and BBQ grills. The one downside and it's a minor one, is that some times the landscaping can be a little noisy. But that's very rare. This is a great place to live. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

Im a resident here for sometime now, had to post this up bc I have nothing but good things about this community. Manager, Elaine and maintenance people, they are simply the best. My lease was up yet again I end up renewing my spot this year. They had recently upgraded my restroom and steam carpet cleaning and changed entire window settings which got so much quieter from outside noise. My husband and I were looking for a wood floor and washer and dryer in the unit. I'm so happy we found this place. There is a large closet in the bedroom and the square feet is perfect for us. This apartment is a wonderful place to live because it is located next to the freeway and there are Korean grocery stores and restaurants within just a few miles. Incase they try to say I'm not in their system i live in apartment g202. For 1560 a month you can rent an horrible apartment. Trash everywhere. Every month. They don't tell you this trash has caused an awful roach infestation. Which you'll find out your first day living there. Want them to hire an exterminator so you can actually enjoy living in your apartment? Well they will bring in some guy on Craigslist who just puts sticky traps without bait down not catching anything for 3 months while the apartment gaslights you into thinking they are doing their best to fix a problem they caused. Also you still have to pay full rent while you can't cook in you kitchen because the roaches have taken over the entire building. They cover up the trail of complaints by firing everyone every month and not leaving notes so the new office worker can gaslight you into believing you're just imaging things. If you're planning on moving into these apartments which have broken stove, garbage disposal and infested rooms I recommend you take every negative review seriously. Brookstone is in a great location. Freeway is right by which is very convenient for commuters, and there's all kind of grocery stores and restaurants within just a few miles. Plus, Yvienne, the leasing agent there is just an angel. She took her time to answer all of my questions very patiently and she's very helpful and friendly. We've been living here for four years now and recently renewed our lease for a fifth year. We are fairly satisfied, which is why we are still here. No place is perfect, but for us the pros outweigh the cons. If I had to summarize the rating we have given, it is because the maintenance and management staff deserve five stars, but the apartment unit itself is a three. The maintenance team of Amador and Martin have been wonderful from day one. They are friendly, courteous, and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner. We have never felt as though our concerns have gone unaddressed. We love them. We don't know Juana the porter, but she works hard to keep everything looking great. The management has changed a couple of times since we have lived here, but we are big fans of Elaine and Yvienne. After getting gouged last year, both encouraged us to negotiate and suggest upgrades. We feel that there was much more transparency this year when we renewed our lease, and we were satisfied with the upgrades agreed to, as well as where we landed on the monthly rent. We hope this continues into the future. The community itself feels safe, quiet, and neat. All community features such as the pool, gym, paths, and barbecue areas are well-maintained. We do have a washer and dryer attached to our unit, so we cannot comment on the community laundry room. We do recommend getting on the waiting list for a second parking spot, as street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is usually pretty limited. Yes, it is true that guest parking is rarely available. The apartment itself, as many have commented, is difficult in the summer. We are upstairs, which naturally aggravates the issue, so I recommend getting a unit on the ground floor if you can. The problem is that there is only one ac unit that comes with the apartment - it is old, inefficient, and blows straight into a corner of the apartment. You are not allowed to have window units, so you must resort to highly inefficient portable cooling units. Getting circulation to the bathroom is a chore, and it can become quite the hotbox. There are ongoing upgrades, which is good, but until they are complete, some issues a reviewer mentioned below are very legitimate. Water is turned off quite frequently for repairs. We've been waiting for a while for our building to receive the newer and more efficient windows that several units around us have. Continued issues with our water temperature regulation. Some damage on certain aspects of the apartment when we moved in that the management at the time said we didn't need to note i.e. microwave, blinds etc. We'll see how things go in the future with our deposit when we eventually move out. All-in-all, the place works for us. We have always felt safe here, and it is close to where we work. The staff at Brookstone is friendly and helpful, and neighbors have never been an issue. You could do much worse for the same price in this area. It's tough finding a place in this price range that also has central air and allows pets. read more

My fiance and I have been living here a year now and we have had a great experience with the staff and community. Whenever I see the property manager I'm always greeted with a smile and a 'hello.' The groundskeepers are extremely friendly as well. We've had very few maintenance issues in our unit; but when we did, they were taken care of right away. The community is quiet and very family-oriented. Residents normally keep to themselves and are really friendly. This apartment complex is always clean, and I've never had any bug issues. They are prompt with your service requests and complete the job in a very timely manner. It's super quiet, and they have pet stations! Their visitor parking absolutely sucks. I've never seen such horrendous guest parking.. My apartments closet doors were falling apart which they were prompt to fix. I really enjoy living at an apartment with such friendly management with a clean community. This was my first experience with apartments. They have 1 & 2 bed, 1 & 2 bath apartments. Decent place to live. Visitor parking can be scarce. Assigned parking for the residents. A laundry room (ridiculously expensive; $1.25/load/machine), a fitness room (treadmill, elliptical, exercise bike, and some weights), and a swimming pool / jacuzzi (packed during the summer). There's older apartments, which you usually get the deals for obviously, and renovated apartments. In the renovated apartments are crown moulding, newer fixtures, white cabinets, and mirrored closets in the bedroom. There's a room A/C unit in the living room, which means I suggest you sleep in the living room during the summer. It was hell-hot. In the winter it gets kinda cold, and the heat goes to the bedroom. The bathrooms get hot because there's a recessed light right above the sink, which made me have a new routine of getting dressed in my room after I got out the shower in the summer. I would sweat just brushing my teeth. You can tell they did some mass production / quick fixes. A few cracks here and there. Had a few issues. 2 of our kitchen cabinets fell off (one on my fiance's head). One of our screens on our living room window came half way off. They allow pets, which is nice unless you don't have one. Dogs bark for hours! Neighbors can be hit or miss. It was a good first place apartment. read more

I moved from Northern California to Southern California unexpectedly and moved into Brookstone Apartments. The staff is extremely helpful, very nice, and prompt compared to other places I've been. They're very organized, knowledgeable, and willing to work with you if there are any issues. The complex is very clean and well kept. When I first moved in, it was pretty quiet, but recently there has been some construction, so I'm sure it'll quiet down once they're done. I was actually quite surprised at how quiet it was, considering that pets are allowed. I haven't had any pest problems. The only issue I had were ants recently, but not to the point where I've had to call in to get it fixed. Raid was enough to solve the problem. The apartments themselves are nice and the price you pay for it is fairly reasonable compared to other complexes around buena park. The only thing that sucks is the parking. You only get one and if you have multiple cars, you'll have to pay for an extra car port. Not a lot of street parking and with the new construction, it's become harder to find decent parking. So there's a LOT to say about these apartments... Pros: Firstly, the new management team is great. They've really tried to ensure everything we submit is fixed. Previous management was also good - we had an issue and they provided us with a completely new AC unit which was super nice. Cons (there's a lot, keep reading): However, on that note, we've been living here 2 years. During this time the leasing office staff has changed twice. First: note that they charge predetermined moveout fees which they will remove from your security deposit, no matter the state of the unit upon move out. No way around this without hiring your own certified cleaner upon moveout, it seems. Amenities are nice. The pool occasionally gets shut down due to chlorine issues I guess? It's been down at least 3 times during the time we were here. Speaking of water, expect an "emergency water shut off" at least once a month. I don't understand how this happens at least once a month with minimal notice but OK. Our ceiling has leaked twice, which has caused mold to sprout in the apartment. We found it on a Saturday evening, and we were told: "oh just wait until Monday, we'll deal with it then". Not the thing you want to hear when there's MOLD from a leak... There were some oddities on move in, like the microwave being badly cracked. When we reported it they declined to put it on the inspection form and it was a huge hassle to get it added. Parking is... a challenge. Neighbors across the street park their cars in such a way that they will always have 2 spaces. I wouldn't recommend parking your car there, we saw them allowing their dog to pee on the car that dared to park there. There's usually spaces down by the Chevy dealer. Visitor parking is BEYOND a joke. The same cars have been parked there for literally years. We only ever saw a tow truck once, and they didn't even end up towing despite the "no mercy" letter from management. The office makes absolutely no attempt to control this because everyone who can afford to leave a car at home just cycles their cars every 3 days (yes Genesis driver, I saw you park your other car to block the street access, use your Genesis to block the driveway and then park your other car there...). Since there's no parking and they don't have short-term parking on property, people just temporarily park anywhere - in the driveway, in front of the trash, in the accessible parking, in the red curb area by the turn from Artesia. You'd better hope that you don't pull in when more than one car is waiting because it gets hectic and unsafe. We've suggested to the management team to change this multiple times and we were met with "oh we can't make any changes, you have to send it to corporate" which is beyond frustrating when your car has almost been rear-ended or nearly hit by someone screaming around the corner from the parking spaces. Some further safety issues: Half of the pedestrian gates' springs are broken and don't close all the way. The parking gates don't have pedestrian sensors so better hope you don't get squished??? If you see the neighbors getting sprayed for ants on Tuesday, you'd best believe you'll have ants by Wednesday or Thursday... Put simply, the complex is falling apart and there's too much bureaucracy for them to want to do anything about it. :( read more

Apartment Complex is very clean, well landscaped and well maintained. My 1 bed 1 bath apartment is spacious and well ventilated. Biggest plus here is Washer & Dryer in the unit. That is just a luxury, as far as our family is concerned. We just finished our 1 year lease and I renewed it last week. Rent did not increase much. Very happy with the rent over all. Staff - I have interacted mostly with Joseph & he is a perfect gentleman. Due to the nature of my job, we move a lot and have lived in a lot of apartments, in a lot of different places. Not everywhere do you get such a friendly Apartment Community manager. Also, Angela is always very helpful. Maintenance Staff - Solomon and Amador are extremely efficient people. Their usual response time is within 24 hours. They are very friendly and helpful. I get one Carport. You could buy one more spot if you have a second car. You will be put on the wait list though. I have not had any bug or roach problems. Overall, I'm very happy with the choice I made. The only thing that will be good to have is some guest parking spots. Having said that there are ample parking across the street for guests. read more

I have lived at Brookstone apartments since November 2016, and moved out as of 5/4/18. Overall, my experience while living at Brookstone was good, but things ended horribly, which is the reason for the one star review. Prior to about the last couple months before I moved out, things were pretty much what was to be expected - leasing office seemed active and responsive, and maintenance crew was (and still is) awesome. I will say that the maintenance guy is probably one of the nicest guy I've ever met and he is the only reason I regret giving this one star review. One of the big issue with Brookstone is the limited parking - I was given one assigned spot originally, but was told that I would be put on a waitlist for a second parking spot, but was pretty much guaranteed that I would get a second spot within a few months. I was number 5 on the list. Turns out, it would take over a year and then some for me to get the extra spot. I did not get the additional parking spot until January 2018, with only few months to go before I ended up moving out. Every time I asked on the update, I was told that they are changing things around, and that they are doing this "Big project" to make sure that every unit can get a spot closer to their unit. Not only did this project take more than 6 months, I ended up getting a spot way too far from my unit. All guest parking spots are all pretty much taken up by residents with second and third cars, and we were even told from the get go that we could certainly park there, given that we would not stay there for more than 48 hours. Well, we parked there once, about two weeks prior to moving out, for one night, as we had to carry heavy items (like I said, assigned spot was far from the unit). Few hours later in the morning, we realized our car had been towed without any warning. Even though all other spots were also parked by residents, since they had hidden their "resident" parking placard, they were not towed, but we were simply towed because we happened to have the placard on. When we went to leasing office to try to plead with them about it, they simply told us policy had changed (without our knowledge) and that they had mentioned it in the monthly newsletter, which nobody freaking reads anyway. The biggest reason for the one-star review though, is how they treat you once they leave. I just received my letter regarding my $500 security deposit today, and it turns out that not only am I not getting of it back, but that I would have to pay additional charges. This was absurd, as they were charging me for paint job, bathtub refinish, kitchen counter refinish, carpet stain removal, which were all things that we either did not damage, or were simple wear and tear from normal use. When we first moved in, they did not even let us inspect the unit, and were told that we had to sign the lease based on the model unit and that I cannot see the unit until I signed it. I signed it figuring that they would know what conditions the unit was originally in, but man, was I WRONG! I have lived in over 5 different apartment complexes throughout So Cal, and I have never been charged for painting the unit for the next person moving in. I have never failed to receive my security deposit in full. The worst part of all this is that we were assured moving out and getting security deposit would be easy - when I called the leasing office a week before I moved out, I asked how clean we were expected to leave the unit. The leasing office informed me brightly that we just had to move all items out and we would get our security deposit back in full, as the unit would be professionally cleaned regardless. They assured us that as long as nothing was damaged out of ordinary use, there would be no issue. Well I could assure you that I used the apartment in a very normal way, and most items sparingly, even, as I rarely cooked and stuff. I am really disappointed that the apartment complex which I felt so good about in the beginning had to turn out like this. Again, shout out to the maintenance guy who was the only guy who kept it cool til the end. read more

Two words: Unbearable summers! We were there for about a year. Did not renew because rent was increased at a rate that did not seem warranted. Sure there's been updates, but merely painting old buildings doesn't suddenly make this place comparable to newer apartments with the same rate. In addition, and the biggest issue, units come with very loud A/C units that face one corner.. and not an area where many would or could congregate. Basically, the horrible A/C unit is useless and extremely noisy. What makes this place think they're worth these rates makes no sense. Find another complex w central air or at least newer buildings. The only good thing about Brookstone was the maintenance staff. So helpful and kind! read more

Brookstone makes all the other complexes in the area pale in comparison - the crystal blue pool and spa, the professional fitness center, and the beautiful winding paths that enable one to take a walk without even leaving. This place is infested with bugs. I have seen big spiders, lots and lots of them inside and outside. The management is blissfully ignorant about them and when you bring it up to them, you get on their radar screen as a squeeky wheel. The place is old and looks very tired. They tried to paint it up but it was like putting lipstick on the pig. Their spriklers are all out of whack and they constantly keep spraying on your car so you would need a good detailed carwash every week. When I moved in there used to be good quality cars but by the time I left, I see the apartment go down in terms of quality. I guess that young Korean lady who is new at managing this property is learning on the job at our expense. I have seen people do unimaginable things in the pool. Once I saw the hot tub has things floating in them. I had to have them shut it down for a few days. I don't think they drained it and refilled. I think they just let the filter run for a few days and they opened it up. You will be lucky if you get some quiet neighbors. The management seems to be very biased towards Koreans.... Their rents are high and they keep raising rents every chance they get. There have been some serious personal and property theft on the premises and I have noticed cops cars quite a few times. It looks nice from the outside but once you move in, you will regret it. but then it will be too late by then. If I was you....I would keep looking. There are plenty of good choices within a mile of this property. read more

I love living here. Management: Friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. They're quick to help in anyway they can and as quickly as possible. Maintenance: Friendly, efficient, and quick. You'll never have a problem with getting things fixed and they're amazing with any and all emergency situations. Apartment: Spacious and up to date. I love the set up because it feels less apartment like and more like a tiny house. Safety: Never had a problem with theft or crime thus far. Cleanliness: Apartments are clean as well as all facilities (exterior, laundry room, pool). Noise: Very quiet Parking: Not great for guests but that's to be expected for most places. My husband and I love it here :) - Management is very responsive when there are issues - The maintenance team is on-site, helpful and friendly - Lovely landscaping on the property - Gated, very safe family environment - Spacious units, reasonable rent - Pet friendly (super cute pets around), and it stays clean; people do a good job of picking up after their pets - Decent neighbors; no one too loud or obnoxious - The only challenge is guest parking. Tenants are assigned spots per # of bedrooms, which is great. Guest parking is limited (2 small visitor lots fill up quickly) so guests primarily park on the street. I remember when we first walked into Brookstone (feeling a bit jaded after checking out 10+ properties), it just felt like home. We could imagine living here- that's a great feeling. Although the maintenance service is very nice, the service from the management office is unsatisfactory. The biggest problem is the PARKING. Not enough parking space for BOTH residents and visitors. As the other reviews mentioned, even if you sign up for the additional parking space, it takes more than a year to get one. Even if you wait over a year, you wouldn't probably get one because the management does not update the waitlist for parking. There are a lot of residents cars being TOWED AWAY everyday, and the waitlist for additional parking is never updated. Still I found some spots being empty for a long while. The management should help the residents to solve the problems; however they seem not to care. Next problem is the emergency water shut-off. The office gives out LOTS of notice for the emergency water shut-off very frequently. Overall, the experience at Brookstone was disappointing and displeasing. read more

I have been apartment hunting for about a month now and I am so happy I found this place! I called first to make an appointment to see the property. Right away, the leasing agent had such positive energy. She was so kind and allowed me to come in within the hour. Right away I noticed it's a gated complex, family friendly, and welcoming. At this point I had seen about 8 other complexes and this one blew them all out of the water. I was only able to see the demo apartment but the rooms all look pretty modern and are a fairly decent size compared to some that I've seen. Oh and can't forget the large closet in the bedroom AND the walk in closet. Total bonus for someone who has a lot of belongings. The grounds are well kept, apartment is updated and most units (I think) come with their own laundry set up (bonus!) So happy I found this place! read more

Inquired about leasing an apartment here and found out that they require cats to be declawed! So inhumane and terrible. Many countries have banned declawing. I keep my cat's nails trimmed and have a scratching post for her, and she doesn't even scratch on my furniture. I don't even know how a cat could damage the interior of a home, fixtures, or even carpet! read more

I've lived in Brookstone for about 3 months and love it! There are some minor inconveniences that come with any SoCal apartment, but management is always very welcoming and eager to assist. All the staff is very friendly and every area of the complex is kept landscaped and clean. It's really relaxing to be able to walk my dog along the pathways which are quite lovely with different kinds of flowers and trees throughout the complex. If you want an apartment upstairs, I believe many of them come with their own laundry machines, which is awesome! I preferred the downstairs patio though, and have never had issues with the laundry room being crowded or dirty (though a change machine would be nice). Every apartment comes with a detached storage closet that is much bigger than your average carport storage, and the interior has a lot of homey touches that make it seem much nicer than other similarly-priced placed I had seen. I spent months looking for a new place because I wanted to wait for the right one, and I'm so glad I did after finding Brookstone! read more

This is my first time living in an apartment. I am very pleased with my decision. Since the complex allows pets, at first, I was a little leery about the potential noise. But, it actually is pretty quiet and clean. They have pet stations throughout, and the residents are also good about cleaning up after their pets. Not to mention that the grounds are well maintained. My apartment is very spacious compared to other complexes. It's not one of the "updated' ones , but it is perfectly fine that way. The open layout is great for entertaining! The washer and dryer are so worth the extra $ if that is an option you are looking for. What makes it a great place to live here is the staff. They are very professional, courteous, helpful, and nice. Anytime I have had a problem in the apartment they are prompt to fix it. I never have had to call twice. I would compare them to Nordstrom in the manner of treating the residents. I am happy, and feel safe living here. And now they have security 24/7. read more
