Now at 17 years of service in the military, I have relocated numerous times and have experience with multiple property management teams. Good and bad. In my experience this is the best in service satisfaction thus far. Proactive, responsive, professional, and approachable. The outcome of their hard work is shown daily through the well-maintained grounds led by Miguel, the timely fixes done by Juan, and the genuine concern of the overall well-being of its inhabitants provided by Yesenia and Erika. Don't be deterred by the tourism brought in by Knotts Berry Farm and neighboring attractions. I have yet to see it interrupt or prevent me from having a pleasant stay. I'd like to give this place at least two stars because the maintenance team is actually friendly and helpful whenever they can be -- but so much is out of their hands because of management and apartment rules. When I applied for my apartment, I was approved in a few days. Karina, the manager at the time, was amazing -- she explained everything and really fought for me when they tried to give my apartment to someone else that applied using section 8. She got it fixed, but that was just the start of the problems. After I moved in, I left my son's bike outside so we could play together. A few days later, I got an email saying nothing is allowed outside -- no bikes, no toys -- even though most people here have kids. They also send constant emails saying kids can't be outside without an adult right there, even if you're watching from the window. Even if you're outside with them they don't want them using scooters or playing with balls. Security is another joke. They have Ring cameras, but the quality is terrible and you have to pay extra. I asked Karina if I could put up my own cameras -- she said yes and even defended me when higher-ups complained. But once Karina left, management made me take them down. Their community cameras are slow and pointless. When my brother-in-law's car got looked into and his kid's bike was stolen, management didn't even bother to give him the footage. They also approved me to wash my cars behind my apartment -- then new management took that back and sent me a violation notice for something they had already said was fine. Parking is a nightmare if you have more than one car, especially with people parking from Knotts. No patio, no dog park, no gym, no Amazon hub for packages -- and if you have kids, get ready for constant complaints about toys and bikes. The only good thing here is the maintenance team and how Karina used to fight for us. I understand the new manager wants to look good for higher-ups, but they need to care about residents too. For what you pay, you can find a place with more freedom, better parking, and a family-friendly vibe. I'll definitely be looking for a new place once my lease is up. Not safe at all. I lived there for 9 months and the amount of police activity that has happened in the dead end street where the apartments are located is crazy. Not to mention that it's so hard to find parking if you're someone who gets home from work late at night. From the main road it looks secure because there are gates that require keys to open, but all criminals need to do is walk around the back (that's not secure at all) and enter from there. I've also witnessed people climbing over the walls from beach boulevard and the neighboring parking lots into the private "residence only, assigned parking" areas behind the buildings and have even been interrogated by cops as I tried to leave the neighborhood during one of their investigations. I had the one designated parking spot assigned to our apartment that is located behind the apartment buildings and homeless people still found ways to vandalize, break-in, and steal from my car. They have lots of policy changes and always talk about repairs but it seems like nothing is ever being done because the laundry machines continued to break week after week. I also got lots of unnecessary emails from the company that owns the property primarily about job openings they have in their organization. NO THANKS. I am writing this review because my car was vandalized, tampered with, broken into, and stolen from the assigned parking spot the management provided our apartment. I filed 3 separate police reports during my 7 months there and have reached out to management and they were not helpful at all. Not even a single drop of empathy from them. They have cameras but refused to provide them, when it was requested by me or by law enforcement. It literally says on the lease that the fences are there to protect the property of the owner. Not any property or lives of the tenants. It also states that they do not claim to be a safe neighborhood. Please read the lease fully before you decide to stay here. There are plenty of safer areas to live. The company only cares about their interests and no one else's. read more

Location: pro: near 5 freeway, near restaurants, Chase bank, USPS, UPS con: safety can be questionable. it's by the Beach Blvd (homeless or anyone can wander off of your street; somebody once vandalized vulgar statement on a wall of oleander st); it's by Knott's -- go figure. Management: pro: Terry's awesome. he addressed all concerns right away. con: Terry left. the new management doesn't respond right away when you leave a message, she won't call you back-- you gonna need to flood her voicemail to get her attention! Pest: con: a big cockroach welcomed us on our first day! there were cockroaches inside, and bugs, ants and spiders outside. the worst are the roaches, they're everywhere in the apt! the pest control guy's trying to blame us about it. i've lived in an apartment prior to this place, and never seen any roaches in my prior apartment-- i'm 100% sure we didn't bring that thing there. like I said, a big roach welcomed us on our first day (our move-in day!) and it was chillin' in the sink! pro: I addressed all those to Terry and within that week, they called a company that removed all the bushes in front and trimmed all the trees. They also sprayed something in front of the apartment for the bugs, ants and spiders. Cleanliness pro: maintenance is always cleaning the area/outside Laundry: pro: it's near by con: it's kind of expensive compared the outside laundromat. other neighbors are pain in the b***-- they leave their clothes in the machine for over an hour or even more than a day! (i was always pissed during laundry day lol) Neighbors: con: some doesn't care-- parking, laundry, trash. if you live downstairs, you can hear their steps-- im talking about normal steps. and if you're unlucky that your neighbor upstair has a kid that runs around (A LOT), it's gonna be a nightmare. read more

I wanted to give a shout out to Carina and Heri. My mom and step dad moved in back in January and when I go visit them they always talk about how happy they are living there. Its always clean and the property is well kept. They have had a few minor maintenance request and Heri has always been so helpful. He's kind and always quick to get the repairs done which is a huge difference from the last place they were at. They usually took weeks sometimes even up to a month to repair anything. Heri is always so flexible and when he comes in to fix anything he always leaves it in better conditions then when he got there. From cleaning up after himself to explaining what he's gonna do. Carina has also been super helpful always attentive and always says hi, smiles and remembers my name and I don't even live there. She's only met me once but watching her with my parents makes me happy to know they are being taken care of. They always talk about how they go in to the office to "bug her" and they always say she laughs and cracks a joke or some funny remark and they just laugh for a bit and I have never seen them so comfortable before. They're older so I brings me comfort to know that they are in a place that makes them feel happy to be home and safe. I loved this place when Terri was there but once Erika got there the environment was different and rules were made up once she got there. Not to mention I hate how everyone is up your business. This is an outstanding apartment complex with a great access to 91 fwy in the heart of downtown BP and as close as you can get to Knott's Berry Farm, and above all, is well maintained like clockwork! They all do an excellent job keeping the place clean and always in order, the common amenities well maintained and BBQ grills professionally cleaned daily! If it weren't for Mr. Teel's relentless pursuit of smoothing out a lengthy process, condensed into a week ordeal, we were sure to be left without a home for an unprecedented amount of time. It was his commitment and demeanor that left me and my partner satisfied with the location. If any problems arise, we will know that we have a helping hand available at any time. The place is wonderful. I lived there for two years and recently moved to be closer to my job. But everyone is nice. The area has three pools on site and laundry facilities. The apartments is right next to knotts and soak city, as well as a shopping center, and the 91 freeway. Terry the manager is incredible. He is open to any concerns and advice. He really goes beyond his measures to make his residents happy. Very clean and security is on patrol at night so it's very safe. Highly recommend especially for a nice area. read more

This is the first apartment complex I have lived in and it couldn't have been an easier transition. Terry is an awesome property manager, always quick to respond and helpful. Before we moved in they redid the carpet and flooring to make it look brand new. The rest of the community is very well maintained. We do live downstairs, and the upstairs can get squeaky, but I assume that is to be expected from a two level complex. Other than that I have no complaints, all of the residents are respectful and it's very quiet for being near such a lively street. (This could also be because Knotts is closed and no one is screaming on the rides, but I'm not complaining) read more

Finally, our lease is over, we just recently moved out from this apartment, we used to live in 2nd level. This apartment is very noisy, they have thin walls, that you can hear every steps, movement from the hallway and a music from your neighbor, the family that lives downstairs knocks on our floor all the time, which even how we were careful to pick up our feet when we walk, they can still hear our footsteps. Now, I know why most our neighbors don't extend their lease and they have same complains us ours. When we told the management abt it, the only reply we got was "you'll get used with it" and a sarcastic reply "well, that's how it is in an apartment". I'm writing this because I want other people to be aware of the situation of the people living there before they sign up a lease. I'm just really thankful that we are not there anymore, and can have a peaceful and quiet day and night. read more

The residents that park on the side of the apartments next to the college are some of the most disgusting residents this place has. Every single week trash gets picked up and within acouple days there's a shit ton of trash all over the bushes/inside bushes/in the gutter. Disgusting fucks learn to pick up your trash. Just moved out in May. I'm sad to say goodbye to this place. From the start Erica the manager/coordinator of the building was kind and easy to work with. She always made our concerns a priority. If we had any problems with anything they were always quick to come over and fix immediately. That was always a comfort. I had bad credit and had to put a big down payment down. The worst smell from under the sink and in the garbage disposal! The manager is a liar, they are false advertisement on their units and the grounds don't be fooled like we were! We recently moved out but lived here for 2 years and we've felt very compelled to leave a review because there are certain things we wished we had known. Overall we really loved living here, close to absolutely everything and very nice area. Management for the most part was always on top of everything. Erica and maintenance were prompt and professional. Now, the issues we encountered were with our upstairs neighbors. There was a clear, constant back and forth conversation with management and us about how inconsiderate and loud they were for about the first year we were there. We even called the cops a few times. The very first time we spoke out was to Sandra about this issue and she responded, "Well no one has ever complained before." Wow. She made it very clear our concerns didn't matter very quickly. We realize this is communal living and it may get loud, we understood that but they were ridiculous. There were easily 5-7 kids and 3-4 adults running, yelling, and cursing through out the day. The worst was waking up to them cursing each other out at 3am. At one point management gave us hope and told us they were in the process of asking them to leave. That never happened nor did the noise decrease. The reason I feel this is vital to mention is because the property has its awesome perks and because of it, rent is a pretty penny. We absolutely hated that we paid so much money but yet these people never received any consequences for their inconsiderate actions. The property still got paid while we just silently dealt with it. Had this not been an issue this property would be ideal. But, unfortunately you never know who your neighbors are going to be; and even worse, you don't ever really know if the property will handle the issue properly or at all. read more

The best parts are 1) Management - Erica is wonderful and timely. 2) apartment and complex are upgraded except for the floors and walls are sort of thin but it's not like I can hear every word. I have only lived here for 4 months but I can say Cantabria apartments is absolutely amazing. When I first moved in Erika was still manager here, boy was she amazing. I had a bad experience at a previous AMC community that I told her about and she told me to have them fax the paper work over and she can see what she can do. I am so thankful for her Erika, she was an amazing manager and took care of our community well. Unfortunately she had to leave but Terry is just as wonderful. He is now the life line of Cantabria apartments. Terry is exceptional and when you need something he makes sure things get done. Because of Erika I am now living at one awesome apartment that I love calling home. The customer service is exceptional when it comes to the two maintenance guys. They work their butts off completely and make sure they get your request done. They don't get enough recognition. Without them and Terry Cantabria apartments would be nothing. The great thing about these apartments are they are close to completely everything! You can walk everywhere, Cantabria is also located on a private street so there is parking everywhere. Everything has been such a smooth ride with these apartments. We moved in on July 18th (on short notice to the complex) and they did everything they could to accommodate us ASAP. We have a beautiful apartment with new laminate wood like floors, new dishwasher, new carpet and everything is in great condition. The only problems we have encountered are the following. Upon moving in, our tub water would not go down the drain right away. As soon as we submitted a maintenance request online, we received a response within 24 hours and maintenance arrived within our schedule availability (there was a TON of hair from the previous owner). It now works great. The guest bedroom gets pretty warm since it takes the AC unit in the living room a while to circulate out there. The only other negative inquiry is that during the weekends, it is difficult to find a parking spot on the street because tourists are too cheap to pay for parking for Knott's Berry Farm (not the complex's fault). I love our home and am so happy to be living here because it is so peaceful and as soon as all your windows and doors are closed, your apartment is DEAD quiet. I still give this place five stars.... read more
