What a great hole in the wall place, discovered completely by accident and have been going there for a few years now. The owners are nice and pleasant. My favorite spot to get some casado con pollo or pinto steak. The food always taste fresh and delicious and the owners knows our order when we sit down. Nice and quaint little family run place. The food is fairly good as well, with egg platter with toast, pork roll and grits, cheeseburger and fries, eggs benedict with home fries, and grilled cheese. Tuna salad large portion with fresh ingredients. The coffee is good. Bottled waters for sale, no waters included for the table. The only thing to note that wasn't all positive was seeing menu prices that were a few dollars less than what came on the bill. We assumed it was due to the menu not being updated, but then again we aren't local to the area and the possibility is there that there was an upcharge. South Warren Street in Trenton is making an effort to get its act together. It has always had the big trees and 19th Century architecture, but until the last few years, the storefronts were often empty or lacking in attractiveness. Things have changed for the better, and it is now possible to walk down Warren and find several nice places to have a meal, drink, or even shop. Sunrise Luncheonette is one of those urban pioneers. It is a small shop with 7 or eight stools at the lunch counter, and about the same number of tables. Décor is rather Spartan, but the management makes a real effort to make you feel welcome when walking in for breakfast before 8, while the surrounding state government drivers are yet to open. I sat at the counter and watched as well known customers chatted with the counterman in friendly tones, swapping stories and jokes. Coffee was served promptly, and was about average. My Sausage, Egg and Cheese Sandwich on a Roll was also decent and tasty. The convenience of location cannot be beat. I enjoyed being able to park on the street without using a meter until 9 am, having a pleasant breakfast only 5 minutes from court, and getting out for under $6. Trenton is actually showing some gritty charm early in the morning, and I enjoyed being part of the wake up. Sunrise's breakfasts should not be compared to suburban style diners where excess is the name of the game. No. This is a cityscape locale, where the clientele tells a different story than heard out there. Life is rougher downtown, and Sunrise Luncheonette reflects that reality. My GF and I just had an excellent late breakfast at this place on a casual Saturday afternoon, and we had a great experience. We accidentally discovered the place while walking down Warren St. in downtown Trenton, surveying food options. We looked at the menu in the window, and both the selection of food and the prices enticed us to try the place out! When we walked in on an early Saturday afternoon, the place was quiet. The decor looked pretty simple and straightforward but cozy, and the place looked VERY clean - I mean spotless. The place just felt really very warm and inviting. We sat at the counter ("bar") on the stools and were warmly greeted by an elderly gentleman who is probably the owner. I was feeling hungry for some breakfast food, so I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with a side of sausage and 2 sunny side eggs ($6.99) and a separate order of french toast ($3.99). My girlfriend got the eggs benedict with homefries ($5.99). The buttermilk pancakes were OUTSTANDING! That's saying a lot because I make my own pancakes, and I always get complimented on my pancakes, but even I was impressed with the big stack of thick, fluffy pancakes I got served up in this place. The sausage that I got with my pancakes was REAL, thick pork sausage, and it was out of this world!! This wasn't some Jimmy Dean links -- this sausage was the real deal, and it was browned up to absolute perfection. I will say that my sunny-side eggs were too runny, and I make much better sunny side eggs myself, but that wasn't too bad considering the overall meal and how good everything tasted together. My girlfriend complimented her eggs benedict as well -- the egg on her eggs benedict was perfectly done, she said. She thought the hollandaise sauce was a bit on the lemon-y side, but I tried it, and I personally really enjoyed it. Homefries has a real homemade taste to them, too. We haven't tried any lunch menu fare, but prices looked great, and variety looks outstanding, so I would definitely love to try something off their lunch menu next time we visit. Went for late breakfast with my boyfriend with high hopes. We arrived at around 11:35 on a Sunday morning with maybe 3 other tables already seated and eating. We tried ordering several items but each time, the waiter needed to go back to check and we were ultimately informed that the items were unavailable. After about 10 minutes, we were finally able to order eggs benedict, a spinach mushroom omelet, and banana french toast. We ended up having to wait until 12:35-ish to receive our food which caused us to almost miss our train at 1 pm. The food was reasonably priced and tasted good, but the wait certainly was not worth it. If I had 3 hours to spare, I might come back, but otherwise, I would find another place to get some breakfast food. read more

My chicken Salad Wrap (you can get the chicken salad on any bread) was light and tasty and came with fresh, crisp lettuce and tomato. The platter came with pickle and cole slaw. My friend and I shared an order of french fries which were nice and crisp on the outside while soft and potatoey on the inside. The home brewed tea was a bit strong. Other beverages come in bottles.
