In response to Barron Family Dental's reply:…read more Before my appointment, I took deliberate steps to confirm that Barron Family Dental was in-network for my specific plan -- Cigna DPPO Advantage. I provided my physical insurance card to your front desk, explicitly asked for verification based on that plan, and was told more than once that your office and the treating provider were in-network. After receiving a significantly higher-than-expected bill, I contacted Cigna directly. During that call -- which occurred shortly after the appointment -- a Cigna representative and I searched their system for Dr. Abigail Nye. At the time, she was not listed under any Cigna network. Not just for my plan -- she simply did not appear in their provider system at all. Now, after the fact, Dr. Nye appears in Cigna's directory -- but only under the Total and Total Plus plan networks. She is still not listed under Cigna DPPO Advantage, which is the plan I have. Yet your office's own PDF -- linked on your website -- explicitly lists "Cigna DPPO Advantage Dentist" under accepted in-network plans. That was part of what influenced my decision to book with your office. The issue here is not just confusion over plan names. It's about negligent misrepresentation. I presented my insurance card, asked your staff to verify network status for my specific plan, and was assured that I was covered. Cigna's billing and coverage records -- both then and now -- do not support that assurance. I was billed at out-of-network rates because the provider was not, and is still not, in-network for my plan. Even if your network affiliations have since changed, that does not retroactively justify what happened at the time of my appointment. Patients have a legal and ethical right to rely on what they're told by a provider's staff when verifying coverage. If I had been informed honestly that the provider wasn't in-network, I would have made a different decision. This situation has caused avoidable financial harm, and I've submitted documentation to the appropriate regulatory authorities. The inconsistency between what your staff communicated, what your website claimed, and what Cigna confirmed is not acceptable. Your website says advantage dentists and I have a ppo advantage plan. Your desk people literally took my card twice and assured me I was covered, intentional or not if it wasn't untrue, that doesn't excuse it from being a point of negligent misrepresentation. This truly is a clear cut small claims case. As well as I have transcripts of the call logs with Cigna dental. Whether or not the dental board wants to waste their time with it is one thing but that doesn't mean that what I'm saying is incorrect. In fact I have a feeling a small claims court would see otherwise.

So I have found Peak dental, which has been great. Then I got this flyer in the mail saying since I hadn't been there in a while I could come in for a complementary exam and teeth whitening. I went to schedule it and apparently down in the tiny writing which, even after reading I don't totally see, if you have insurance, you are in eligible for this. Even though my insurance barely covers the exam let alone teeth whitening. So I will not go back.

It's true, as another reviewer mentioned, that you might come in and then have to make extra appointments. I think that depends on the staff available and what other patients need, and perhaps if one's appointment is on a weekend (I was there this time on Saturday and will come back for my fillings in 2 weeks). I went in last year, however, and needed molar extraction, which they did on the spot -- painlessly, I might add! They also have a great credit partner in Cherry Credit, so that was a real plus as well. Along those same lines of finances, I find them to be the most non-pushy dental office I've been to, offering the various options of treatment, and then respecting the patient's decisions on that. All in all, all staff---front desk to hygienists to the DDS staff--are exceptional, and I never dread going to the dentist now. I already left a review on Google a year or so ago, so thought I'd leave one on Yelp this time after seeing them for my biannual cleaning. PS: A bright and airy office and good tunes too!

No problem, I understand things happen but not a great intro to my next appointment that was *supposed* to be this week. I confirmed my appointment and then got a call 24 hours before needing to reschedule. I missed the call as I was working. I call back 4 hours later, after receiving 2 emails that my appointment was rescheduled for different times, and call to confirm my new appointment time I'd been assigned via email. I was told the emails were to get me to call them back to reschedule and were not real appointment times? There are no appointments until March of 2026 but I can get on the waiting list. Not sure why I have an appointment to be on a waiting list with and unknown of when I can get my cleaning and exam. March 2026 would have put me at 15 months from my previous cleaning. I am under the impression I am not an important patient here and am looking for a new dental office that values my health and time.

The first time I visited him a few years ago, despite my adamant objections, he relentlessly pursued a mold of my teeth. I was not remotely there to obtain a mold, of course the molding process removed my crown, necessitating a subsequent procedure. Additionally during the first visit I had to endure leaking hoses dripping water all over me as he worked on my teeth, gross and humiliating.
