The best crepes in Danville, worthy of a trip all the way from Castro Valley. Brown Butter has been in our bi-weekly weekend brunch for quite a few months to the point that Apple already knows our order before we walk in, service is so friendly and warm, worth it on its own, let alone the fantastic crepes and toasts. My favorite drink they serve is a lychee iced tea.

With the warm weather upon us, a refreshing cup of fresh squeezed OJ or cold cup of matcha with oat milk is the perfect way to start or end your day :) The staff are consistently genuinely friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is always clean.

First time here, and the outdoor area is so pretty. As soon as we walked in, it felt warm, welcoming, and cozy, the interior is really nice. Customer service is top-notch. Everyone greeted us with a smile, and even another employee who walked by made sure to say hello. We ordered a hot mocha, and it was delicious, I loved it! We'll definitely be back to grab a bite. We finally dined in and customer service was amazing, the presentation of the items we ordered looked so pretty, we tried mango crape OOOMMMGGG DELICIOUS it was filled with mangoes worth every penny then the mocha looked so so so pretty!

Menu is unique, crepes are full of flavor! We ordered a few crepes to share: - Mushroom, cheese and spinach was really my favorite. Sounds so simple but the house sauce they use really brought everything together! I would HIGHLY recommend this whether you're vegetarian or not, this is a must try. - chicken pesto: this one was really good as well! Always love a good chicken and pesto combo. Flavors definitely were not lacking. - Thai: this was probably my least favorite, only because it was more on the sweet side (probably from the shredded pork) than it was spicy and savory, which was what I was hoping for. I still think the flavor was unique and good, it just wasn't my favorite "savory" crepe here. - Mango ice cream: this was pretty good, I honestly didn't care for all the whipped cream it was packed with. It's definitely refreshing. - Ube fried crepe: this lacked the Ube flavor so wasn't really what I was expecting but not bad. It also came with cilantro and while it wasn't bad with the Ube, I just didn't really think it was GREAT combo. Overall, everything is good, I just think it depends on your expectations and experience with flavor.... For example, if you're a huge Ube person, I'm not 100% sure you'd love the Ube dessert, if you're expecting savory and a bit of spicy, I'm not sure you'd want to do the Thai. Service was wonderful, they check in your often and are very friendly!

Brown Butter Café was such a pleasant surprise. I went for brunch with my friend and we got the mango mania and the shibuya toast. The honey toast was everything. I literally love honey toast and it's so hard to find unless you're in SF/Berkeley, so this really made my day. It was so good and I genuinely enjoyed every bite. I feel like I've walked past this spot so many times whenever I'm in Blackhawk Plaza, but I'm so glad I finally tried it. It's such a low key, cute spot. The inside is super aesthetic and cozy, and the owners were incredibly kind. I'm not sure if it's a husband and wife duo or family run, but they were so sweet and kept checking in on us, which made the experience even nicer. Came here with a friend after a hike. This place is small but cute. We ordered the spinach mushrooms cheese crepes and I also had a match latte. I really enjoyed the crepes but would be good if there were more filling. The matcha latte was really good... bitter and sweet at the same time. Service was good but they forgot our drinks and it took quite a while for the food to be served. Will be back.

First time here with friend, very cafe style with outdoor seating and made it very comfy. Ordered Thai Tea Float and Thai Style Street Food Prik Pao Moo Yong. Thai Tea Float: Taste just right, unlike Thai tea at boba shop that made too sweet, but not dry. Prik Pao Moo Yong: Never tried savory crepe, this one is a spicy dish and not over powering. Very flavorful. Wish they can give more salad on the side. Service: Excellent. Servers are very very friendly. Recommending this place for a light lunch.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon brunch after doing a head spa nearby, and it popped up on Yelp as a half mile away so my friend and I were like, why not? The pics looked so cute. My order was the strawberry matcha latte ($7.50) and the avocado toast ($17.95). We came around 1:30pm and it was not crowded at all, but I could see it being really popular during earlier brunch time. Pros: - really nice service ! they were really patient with us and the food came out pretty quickly - The matcha latte was DELICIOUS but it definitely is like an extra dessert when it comes to calories LOL it came with beautiful whipped cream - but I thoroughly really enjoyed it and I actually think it was worth the $7+ dollars. Impressively this was my favorite part of the meal and I could see myself coming back for this. - The avocado toast was really beautifully plated, really pretty presentation. I also loved the little spicy chili that came with it - Clean bathroom - Very plentiful parking - Really cute vibes! It's like a half outdoor cafe /breakfast place with indoor and outdoor open seating so you can choose if you want to be in the sun or the shade. I loved that there were elderly people just hanging out there all day. - I like that the menu isn't too overwhelming, a short two pages so it's easier to make decisions, and it's well organized so you can find what you want. Cons: - I think due to the price of the avocado toast I expected either thicker eggs, more avocado, or more side salad, but it still tasted really good, I just wasn't super full. I do really want to come again to get that matcha strawberry latte again though! it was really the perfect ratio and balance of bitter and sweet

First of all, to the reviewers who complained about the slow service...this isn't a fast food restaurant. The sweet owner was so kind to us upon entering, and described all the different menu items. She made sure to tell us every crepe is created from scratch; they do not have a premixed container of batter. Each side salad that comes with the savory crepes are hand tossed each time. The attention to detail and the quality of the food is second to none. We had the Thai Crepe, the chicken pesto crepe, the tuna salad sandwich, the mango dessert crepe and the choco lovers crepe. All were amazing. I also wanted to share that I ordered the Magic Blue Tea that's imported from Thailand...delicious and refreshing! Come here to enjoy high quality food when you're not in a rush. I will be back often! read more

We ran into brown butter while searching for a lunch place in the neighborhood on Yelp. This is absolutely a hidden gem in the locality. The food is amazing and it looks like exactly the way you see it in pictures and taste even better. The place is amazing as well , it has certain aesthetics to it that we just loved it. The server is super nice and makes you feel welcome. We tried the Thai (Chicken ) and the Mushroom/Basil ( Veggie ) and it was absolutely delightful. It was so good that we decided to bring our kids this time just for the lunch. The food is heavenly and all of us enjoyed the food, ambience and the service. Would absolutely recommend it with family. read more

This is by far the best place to be at. Food and drinks are really good, and I spend a lot of time here. It's a cute cafe to spend time with friends and family. The staff is 10/10 kind, they care about their customers and making sure everything is going well. I might also start coming here more often to do school work. read more

Lasted update for Brown Butter.... They are now open for dinner! Menu is still the same so for anyone looking for light brunch entrees for dinner, this is the perfect place! Amazing place- delightful people with a very unusual variety of Thai street food. These folks are also connected to the Andaman group, Thai restaurants that should not be missed. We had Shibuya Honey Toast, a concoction of ice cream, fruit and tropical syrups. This was a "don't miss"! We will be back for the savory crepes and other goodies available. read more

If you want to have a very relaxing sunny afternoon, I would strongly recommend this place. Even though it is facing to parking lot, quite some plants and bushes separate them. Outdoor sitting, a cup of milk tera, ice cream mango crepe will comfort you. read more

Went there second time and would say this eatery in Blackhawk plaza has delicious crepes in the Bay Area. Would recommend Mushroom Spinach and Chocolate lovers. We also tried the Shibuya Honey Toast and it was really good. The staff is pleasant and will make sure that all your requests will be taken care off. read more

Brown Butter does a great job at their crepe and sandwich dishes. I dare say it's Thai inspired given the owners' nationality. It's the 2nd time visiting but really paying attention since I was having more than just a dessert crepe. I chose the tuna melt sandwich. The presentation was nice, a la avo toast style. The corn, tuna, special sauce mix was spread over two slices of toast. Normally comes with cheese but I don't like cheese and opted out. The portion was very healthy and accompanying the dish was a side of house salad. Girls split the chicken pesto crepe and a strawberry banana crepe. Both enjoyed it all. Wife had the mushroom, spinach crepe and also liked it. I also had a Thai ice coffee which was good. Upon hearing another table had a 10-yr old bday and found out it was my wife's bday, the pre-order dessert came with candles; a nice touch. Our pre-ordered dessert was the honey toast, which is dressed with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. Portion again was nice as 4 of us shared and it was just enough. Unfortunately, we all tore into it before anyone could get a picture. Maybe next time! Service was good by the owner who was the only one taking orders...yet she was attentive. It's not a cheap outing but it's as the kids today say, "lit," "fire," "on fleek"...yeah, it's that good. read more

My friend treated me to lunch here today for my birthday. Food was delicious and service was perfect. i ordered the spinach, mushroom, cheese crepe. it was sooo filling and delicious. My friend ordered the salad with smoked salmon. She loved her dish as well. Two of the staff came and checked on us often, they were clearly all about ensuring our experience was perfect. I hope they survive as we were one of two tables during lunch hour on a Friday. They definitely care about the quality of their menu items as well as customer service. read more

Stop by Brown Butter as we were looking for some cold drinks. It was there soft opening on a hot saturday afternoon. We tried their strawberry and lemon soda, thai ice tea and ice latte for drinks. Everything was on point...drinks were really good. We also ordered the Shibuya Toast and it tastes as good as it looks. We will definitely be returning when we visit the Danville area again. read more

If I could make it 6 stars I could. One of the sweetest cafe owners I've ever met and some of the best coffee you can get in the bay. She always remembers faces which is really sweet. The cafe is also a very nice place to chill. One of my favorite cafes here! read more

There were 12 different flavors in the sampler ranging from standard red velvet or vanilla cake, to some fancier ones such as poppy seed cake with lemon curd. Our favorite was the vanilla cake with apricot preserve and we will almost certainly be having that as one of our layers. I've been a regular customer of Brown Butter in Danville for over a year now, and I've never been disappointed. Their food is always delicious, staff are friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. My favorite dish is the Shibuya honey toast. It's a huge slice of toast, cut into pieces in the middle, soaked Ina delicious sauce (no clue what it's made of), with whipped cream, ice cream, and fruit on top. It's the perfect way to start your day or indulge in a sweet treat. Another favorite of mine is their tuna melt. It's made with fresh tuna, Swiss cheese, corn, and aioli on grilled sourdough bread. It's the perfect combination of savory and creamy. If you're in the mood for something sweet, I recommend the creme brulee crepe or the mango crepe. Both are made with delicate crepes, filled with a rich and creamy custard. The creme brulee crepe is topped with a layer of caramelized sugar, and the mango crepe is topped with fresh mango and whipped cream. We ordered a variety of dishes including sweet and savory crepes, lattes, Thai iced coffee, and the Shibuya sweet toast, which was a delicious combo of ice cream and fresh fruits.
