The best crepes in Danville, worthy of a trip all the way from Castro Valley. Brown Butter has been in our bi-weekly weekend brunch for quite a few months to the point that Apple already knows our order before we walk in, service is so friendly and warm, worth it on its own, let alone the fantastic crepes and toasts. My favorite drink they serve is a lychee iced tea.

With the warm weather upon us, a refreshing cup of fresh squeezed OJ or cold cup of matcha with oat milk is the perfect way to start or end your day :) The staff are consistently genuinely friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is always clean.

First time here, and the outdoor area is so pretty. As soon as we walked in, it felt warm, welcoming, and cozy, the interior is really nice. Customer service is top-notch. Everyone greeted us with a smile, and even another employee who walked by made sure to say hello. We ordered a hot mocha, and it was delicious, I loved it! We'll definitely be back to grab a bite. We finally dined in and customer service was amazing, the presentation of the items we ordered looked so pretty, we tried mango crape OOOMMMGGG DELICIOUS it was filled with mangoes worth every penny then the mocha looked so so so pretty!

Menu is unique, crepes are full of flavor! We ordered a few crepes to share: - Mushroom, cheese and spinach was really my favorite. Sounds so simple but the house sauce they use really brought everything together! I would HIGHLY recommend this whether you're vegetarian or not, this is a must try. - chicken pesto: this one was really good as well! Always love a good chicken and pesto combo. Flavors definitely were not lacking. - Thai: this was probably my least favorite, only because it was more on the sweet side (probably from the shredded pork) than it was spicy and savory, which was what I was hoping for. I still think the flavor was unique and good, it just wasn't my favorite "savory" crepe here. - Mango ice cream: this was pretty good, I honestly didn't care for all the whipped cream it was packed with. It's definitely refreshing. - Ube fried crepe: this lacked the Ube flavor so wasn't really what I was expecting but not bad. It also came with cilantro and while it wasn't bad with the Ube, I just didn't really think it was GREAT combo. Overall, everything is good, I just think it depends on your expectations and experience with flavor.... For example, if you're a huge Ube person, I'm not 100% sure you'd love the Ube dessert, if you're expecting savory and a bit of spicy, I'm not sure you'd want to do the Thai. Service was wonderful, they check in your often and are very friendly!

Brown Butter Café was such a pleasant surprise. I went for brunch with my friend and we got the mango mania and the shibuya toast. The honey toast was everything. I literally love honey toast and it's so hard to find unless you're in SF/Berkeley, so this really made my day. It was so good and I genuinely enjoyed every bite. I feel like I've walked past this spot so many times whenever I'm in Blackhawk Plaza, but I'm so glad I finally tried it. It's such a low key, cute spot. The inside is super aesthetic and cozy, and the owners were incredibly kind. I'm not sure if it's a husband and wife duo or family run, but they were so sweet and kept checking in on us, which made the experience even nicer. I'll definitely be back and I'm so happy I finally stopped in

Came here with a friend after a hike. This place is small but cute. We ordered the spinach mushrooms cheese crepes and I also had a match latte. I really enjoyed the crepes but would be good if there were more filling. The matcha latte was really good... bitter and sweet at the same time. Service was good but they forgot our drinks and it took quite a while for the food to be served. Will be back.

First time here with friend, very cafe style with outdoor seating and made it very comfy. Ordered Thai Tea Float and Thai Style Street Food Prik Pao Moo Yong. Thai Tea Float: Taste just right, unlike Thai tea at boba shop that made too sweet, but not dry. Prik Pao Moo Yong: Never tried savory crepe, this one is a spicy dish and not over powering. Very flavorful. Wish they can give more salad on the side. Service: Excellent. Servers are very very friendly. Recommending this place for a light lunch.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon brunch after doing a head spa nearby, and it popped up on Yelp as a half mile away so my friend and I were like, why not? The pics looked so cute. My order was the strawberry matcha latte ($7.50) and the avocado toast ($17.95). We came around 1:30pm and it was not crowded at all, but I could see it being really popular during earlier brunch time. Pros: - really nice service ! they were really patient with us and the food came out pretty quickly - The matcha latte was DELICIOUS but it definitely is like an extra dessert when it comes to calories LOL it came with beautiful whipped cream - but I thoroughly really enjoyed it and I actually think it was worth the $7+ dollars. Impressively this was my favorite part of the meal and I could see myself coming back for this. - The avocado toast was really beautifully plated, really pretty presentation. I also loved the little spicy chili that came with it - Clean bathroom - Very plentiful parking - Really cute vibes! It's like a half outdoor cafe /breakfast place with indoor and outdoor open seating so you can choose if you want to be in the sun or the shade. I loved that there were elderly people just hanging out there all day. - I like that the menu isn't too overwhelming, a short two pages so it's easier to make decisions, and it's well organized so you can find what you want. Cons: - I think due to the price of the avocado toast I expected either thicker eggs, more avocado, or more side salad, but it still tasted really good, I just wasn't super full. I do really want to come again to get that matcha strawberry latte again though! it was really the perfect ratio and balance of bitter and sweet

Very, very good. Luckily, I came here on a less busy day. Great weather, really nice spot for lunch with delicious food. It was one of those nice presentations even to go and I didn't stop to take a picture because it's looked so good (and hungry). Organic matcha milk tea. Excellent. Balanced. Not too much matcha or sweetness. Albacore Tuna crepe. Excellent. Crepe nicely cooked. It's was not super flimsy or too thin or thick. Kids liked the plain crepe with butter. Customer service was too good. Felt like I didn't deserve their kindness & going the extra mile when I switched to dine-in. Got me silverware, double-checked my preference for the kids. Nice interior/exterior. Don't know what else to ask for. Definitely coming again! Plentiful parking. Just order in advance because it does take time to be so good. read more

We had the thai street food crepe, the albacore tuna crepe, and the creme brulee crepe. I wish the savory crepes had a bit more variety of ingredients, like veggies. Service was excellent. The items were surprising and very good with one exception. The dry pork needs to be removed from the menu. 2 of 6 ordered it, none of us could eat it. Been here two times and ordered the creme brûlée crepe and the albacore tuna crepe! Both delicious, and the tuna crepe was just the right amount of savory creaminess. My Daughter and I came here one day, just to check it out. Especially since we are close by. The place is super cute. It seems like a family ran place, which is great! We ordered the mango and chocolate crepe. The mango was the BOMB!!! Loved it. The chocolate one was good too, but maybe too chocolatey. I know, right? You can never have too much chocolate. Lol! But that one was for my daughter and she thought it was maybe too much. Don't get me wrong, it was good too!!! The service, fabulous!!! The lady who helped us was super kind and sweet! Recently visited. Waitress was friendly. Food was decent. I ordered the pesto chicken crepe and it had good flavor. Salad on the side had some wilted pieces in it. My biggest concern was the restaurant was extremely warm inside. Broken AC? No AC? I'm not sure. But I had to ask for ice for my glass of room temperature water. Not sure I'd return under these conditions. Can't imagine what the place was like a few days ago when the temperature outside was over 95 degrees. read more

We ordered the choco lover crepe and the crème brûlée crepe. The food was actually pretty decent but we waited 30+min for just the two crepes. To add to that, it was a super hot day and they do not have AC. There was just one front staff and one cook so food was coming out super slow. Staff was friendly though. There are not too much seating and for larger parties, there are two 4-seat tables and one 6-seat bench. It also appear that you might be able to reserve a table as there was a reserved sign on a 2-seat table, but it was never filled while we were there. The crème brûlée crepe is served cone shape with a foil lined parchment paper, which made it quite messy as it couldn't be teared easily as you eat lower into the cone. Overall, food was great, experience was not so great. Hopefully they can improve since they only opened recently! read more

Brown Butter is a great addition to Blackhawk Plaza. My daughter and I came here for lunch for the first time. The savory and sweet crepes are just as delicious as they look in the pictures, moist with just the right amount of crispness around the edges. The presentation of the crepes is very creative, and the ingredients are very fresh. We plan to try all the crepes on the menu along with the salad, sandwiches, and desserts. The homemade cold beverages are an added bonus. This is a family-owned business. Apple, our waitress, was so sweet and attentive throughout our meal. Service was top notch. Brown Butter was a big hit, and we can't wait to go back for our next meal! read more

This place is AMAZING. The quality of the food is great both and taste and just the feeling of super fresh ingredients. I live like 30 minutes away and I had to go back 2 days in a row. The first day we just took a shortcut home through Camino Tassajara and was hungry, the second day was an intentional trip cause of how good it was. I'm planning to be a regular for sure! read more

Breakfast and customer service were awesome! Really cute spot, and we ate on the shaded outside patio. Their ube ice cream was quite yummy as well as our eggs, potatoes, and salad. Quiet refreshing, not crowded (maybe because we arrived 30 minutes to closing). Tuna melt was also delicious, very tempting menu (sugar overload), nice organic tea, hubby and I left with $80 bill though on breakfast, yikes, probably will leave this spot for special celebrations! (3 dishes including 1 dessert and 2 cups of caffeine-free teas) read more

Staff was super friendly. The decor was cute and modern. But it is the size of a small cafe. About 5 tables inside with 3 tables outside. Price is reasonable. We ordered two savory crepes. They were very delicious, especially the Thai style crepe. We really dig the fusion element of it. We had hoped Brown Butter was located in the inside courtyard next to the water, but it is on the parking lot side. I wish for them to be a huge success so they can snag a premium courtyard space in the future. Blackhawk plaza needed an infusion of ethnic spice and Brown Butter is the perfect remedy. read more

This place is so cute. And the crepes were super yummy!! Dad and I had a lunch date here yesterday. I ordered the ham and cheese and dad got the ahi tuna crepe. The people who sat us were super kind and attentive. The place was very clean. It took a little bit to get the food, but I appreciated that cuz everything was made fresh. The portions were perfect. Karen, the owner, took the time to walk me through the sampler box of the different wedding cake flavors, even though it started to get busy in the store she was very kind to make it a personal experience. There were 12 different flavors in the sampler ranging from standard red velvet or vanilla cake, to some fancier ones such as poppy seed cake with lemon curd. Our favorite was the vanilla cake with apricot preserve and we will almost certainly be having that as one of our layers. I am very excited to continue working with them as we design our cake and next time I go in I will definitely be grabbing one of th delicious looking cannoli!

I've been a regular customer of Brown Butter in Danville for over a year now, and I've never been disappointed. Their food is always delicious, staff are friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. My favorite dish is the Shibuya honey toast. It's a huge slice of toast, cut into pieces in the middle, soaked Ina delicious sauce (no clue what it's made of), with whipped cream, ice cream, and fruit on top. It's the perfect way to start your day or indulge in a sweet treat. Another favorite of mine is their tuna melt. It's made with fresh tuna, Swiss cheese, corn, and aioli on grilled sourdough bread. It's the perfect combination of savory and creamy. If you're in the mood for something sweet, I recommend the creme brulee crepe or the mango crepe. Both are made with delicate crepes, filled with a rich and creamy custard. The creme brulee crepe is topped with a layer of caramelized sugar, and the mango crepe is topped with fresh mango and whipped cream. Perfect Mother's Day Brunch at Brown Butter We celebrated Mother's Day brunch at Brown Butter and it was absolutely delightful! We ordered a variety of dishes including sweet and savory crepes, lattes, Thai iced coffee, and the Shibuya sweet toast, which was a delicious combo of ice cream and fresh fruits. Every dish was fresh and flavorful, exceeding our expectations. The staff were incredibly sweet and friendly, adding a warm touch to our special day. Although Brown Butter is a popular spot and was quite busy, they managed to make reservations possible for Mother's Day from 10-11 AM, which we greatly appreciated. Brown Butter in Danville is such a sweet little gem! The moment you walk in, it smells amazing -- warm, nutty, and buttery. This is a lovely dessert place you must go if you are in Blackhawk/Danville. It's located in Blackhawk plaza and right cross the theater. Easy parking and super clean bright indoor and outdoor seats.
