Definitely not your typical deli! The interior decor is well thought out with an acceptable Instagram vibe. Although, the place is a snug fit! It gets crowded pretty fast, but there's an excellent waiting area/hallway that includes a local shop "the old crow" that sells local, organic items like preserves, and Artisan soaps and bath products, as well as a beautiful boutique "gravesyard" selling local clothing, stone jewelry, and shoes! Anyways, the food portions are filling, good with the price. A rustic place that prides its food for being local, and farm fresh! As an appetizer, the poutine was a tad saltier than I would've liked. And based on the waitress' recommendation, the Fig-n-pig was good. It was juicy with every bite, and had a nice textural change between pork and apple slices. My family and I were eager to try one of Carrollton's newest restaurants based on a friend's recommendation. When you think of a brown dog, you might envision an old reliable mutt of some nondescript ilk. When you parlay that image into a restaurant, the Brown Dog Deli is a complete misnomer. In dog terms, perhaps a Standard Poodle in a comfy cabin. Think gourmet southern in a hip shack. The interior is "eclectic rustic" with plenty of reclaimed wood and hand made table tops, complete with the creator's brand on them. Our server, Cass, was super attentive and brought our drinks immediately. We ordered and scarfed down the half portion Carroll Cobb (delicious! The dressing was amazing), a Rueben, and a chicken salad sandwich. Nary a morsel was left on any of our plates. It's nice that there are plenty of half-size meal options. For dessert we had a bourbon chocolate pecan pie. The crust was buttery and flaky, and the filling was outstanding. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the Brown Dog. Our only complaint was that the noise level was a little high. I'm so glad Carrollton has another creative restaurant near the square, and we will definitely be back. Good dog :) read more

The reason for one star is a complaint. I just called to order five entrees to go. I was told the restaurant is no longer accepting to-go orders on Sundays. I was told if I come in and eat as one person, then I can take the rest of the orders to go. What is the reason for this? A) We are in the midst of COVID, and you're FORCING us to eat inside? B) You'd think restaurants would be happy to have any business they can get right now. What does a Sunday have to do with anything? PS - I always tip in the midst of COVID out of respect for wait staff and restaurant struggles, so if that has anything to do with it, it's silly to me personally. I had my first dining experience here yesterday! I ordered something small, chili and ordered a mimosa. My server was super nice and attentive. Plus I loved the aesthetic My experience here was so awesome I thought "hmm I have been needing a new brunch spot, let's go back to Brown Dog and try other things off their menu." I brought my husband with me and ordered a mimosa, as they were on sale for $1! I got my drink but it was way smaller than yesterday and only tasted like orange juice. But whatever. Still pretty happy at this point. My husband orders a sandwich (MAC-intosh, I think?) and I decide to try their jambalaya Before I go further, I feel I need to state my husband and i are super simple and rarely have anything to complain about when dining out. So we get our food pretty quick, which is almost never a good sign cause that typically means something is being reheated. I take a bite into my food and it had no flavor, aside from the tomato's. I then season with some basic salt and pepper. I decide to try the sausage because I love it and it always has some flavor to it... I wish I was exaggerating when I say it tasted like I was chewing rubber, burnt rubber with no flavor. I take a few more bites, hoping to find some redeeming qualities in the meal I just shelled out for (when I could have gone to my usual spot and eaten there and always get great quality food pricing and service) and to no avail it was garbage. I ate a total of six tiny bites. My husband's food was a tiny bit more edible but he stated the same, no flavor. The sandwich was supposed to have rib meat and Mac and cheese and some other things. He noticed the ribs were beef which we thought was odd, but whatever. Food is food. There were also a total of six (yeah we're those people and counted the amount) of Mac and cheese noodles. We left a majority of our food uneaten and spent $36 on everything. We then went to McDonald's (old faithful) and were finally satisfied, food wise. Overall, Super sad and disappointed in the quality and will not really be making any plans to return. read more

Had lunch here today. I have always enjoyed the Brown Dog very much. I was very disappointed in the lack safety precautions taken by all employees. They were wearing their facial masks down around their chins the entire time I was there. This included the young lady behind the bar. We were sitting extremely close to other patrons. The young lady (hostess) in the front of the restaurant was wiping silverware from the dishwasher with a towel. As she wiped each piece, she handled the entire piece, including the parts that you eat with. I have eaten here previously, and love the collard greens. I ordered a side order of them. It took 10 minutes to have them brought to the table. They were extremely spicy, more so than ever before.I could not eat them. When I reported this to our server, she explained that the person who was preparing them added extra spice to them. When I asked if they could be taken off my bill, I was told no...this was not the the restaurant's policy. I will not be returning the the Brown Dog in the near future. read more

Cool little hometown feel restaurant! We had the fried green tomatoes to start and oh my were they amazing. They had a nice little twist on them with bacon chunks, beans, jelly and a cheese dip for extra flavor. Then I had the Ceasar! Ceasar! for dinner. Nice Ceasar salad which a twist also. It had shrimp, hard boiled egg and soft but crispy corn bread croutons. The only bad thing I have to say it that alot of their signature drinks have ground down fruit or herbs which made them kinda hard/annoying to drink! Strawberries kept getting stuck in my straw and basil kept coming through my straw which I didn't want to eat my drink. Nice idea but maybe strain the drinks so you still get the flavor with the ease of drinking! read more

I had heard about this place from several people and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did! We got there around 6 on a Saturday night and we were told a 45 minute wait. 20 minutes later we were headed to our seats. Our server was great and very patient with our "newbie" party of 4. Three of us had various burgers and my husband had the shrimp étouffée. We were all well pleased with our choices. I had banana pudding for dessert and it was good, but after seeing my friend's chocolate pecan pie, I wish I had gotten that! Definitely returning to try another dish. read more

Been here two times and the food is really good. First visit I ordered the Southern Charm burger, mashed potato salad, and strawberry shortcake-all was really good. Second trip I got the wood grilled salmon with green beans and potato salad again-salad wasn't as good as the first time, green beans were ok, but omfg the salmon...I could've slapped my husband out of his chair it was so good! I have been to this restaurant a couple of times during lunch hours and this place has never disappointed. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. The only bad this I can say about this restaurant is the space but even that's not that bad. The best thing on the menu, hands down, is the Southern Charm hamburger. Made perfect with pepper jelly, fried green tomato, and pimento cheese (bacon included but I get it without). It's the burger of champions. Even their sides are the bomb like the Mac and cheese and the cheese grits are almost better than my cheese grits. I recommend this place 100% just get there early to get a good seat read more

I was really excited when they opened but we invited a few friends a few months ago to eat with us after my sons baptism and I won't be back. The service was awful, waitresses were crying outside, mouse poop was on the bench seat behind us.... and after all this, our food was cold when we got it. So disappointed. read more

Mediocre food at best. Ordered the sin dip which is basically just Cisco spinach artichoke dip with cheese melted on top. The salmon on the alder wood with fig glaze was way too sweet and not smoky at all. They do not wear masks. Finally their restroom was disgusting. If the food were free I would've given it 5 stars! Great food, atmosphere and service. Our group each ate something different and we all loved it. Shrimp and grits Would have liked to see a few more craft beers but that is not a real problem. They have enough to keep most folks happy. Good job guys. We were in town for a funeral and started out searching Yelp for some place to eat lunch and ran across this place with a neat name. Looked over the menu and decided to give it a try. WOW what a great decision. Perfectly sized lunch options of stupendous food in a friendly environment. It was so good that we returned that evening with our entire family. Me and my wife had lunch here today. Everything was going good, but we have 2 problems today. 1.) was that the waitress was friendly but she did know how much the prices of alcohol drinks of different beers, and 2.) the small room was so loud that me and my wife was setting across from each other at the table, we have to talk into a loud voice just to hear us. The waitress had to talk in a loud voice just to ask what we want to eat and drink. This was in the small room at the Brown Dog Deli in Carrollton, Georgia. They had a party of 6 in that room that was very loud, and in a small room like when you are surrounded by four walls everything you do echoes off the walls the sound has no where to go. So if you want more peace and nice quiet go into the large room you can go into the smaller room just make sure there are 4 people or 2 people at a table if you have a bigger I suggestion that you want until it clear the big party or wait for a table in the big room. The food is great it is worth the wait. The waitress need more training and they need not to seat more than 6 people to a table in the small room. read more
