Incredible food for a "pub" style restaurant. First time visit. Had the halibut special. Amazing. Date had the filet. She got it butterflied cause she's weird and likes filet med-well. It turned out perfect. Service was truly amazing as well. The hostess stopped by and talked with us for a bit, sweet girl. (Young girl, dark hair) don't remember her name. Always fun to go here when visiting my sister! Lots of easy parking downtown and they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a fairly laid back place but nice enough to feel special. The menu is varied with enough options for everyone. Their fries are stellar and the ranch is great. Salads are fresh! Not the biggest fan of their mixed drinks - come very strong and not the most flavor. The staff are usually friendly and the kitchen is fairly quick. read more

Just enjoyed an awesome burger that was topped with fried green tomatoes, red tomatoes, pickles, lettuce. A side of sweet potato waffle fries drizzle with honey. I've was so delicious and flavorful. While my sister enjoyed the grilled salmon salad, it must was fabulous because the bowl was left clean. Food was very good, we got the green fried tomatoes which were exquisite, brisket sandwich and Mac n cheese brisket which were good. The banana pudding was one of the best we have had. The service was what you should expect in the south nothing short from perfect. And ambiance was great tucked in the downtown with families and college students mixed in. What a total bummer! I mean, you go to a place, clearly say "no cheese" because you're lactose intolerant, and then they drown your burger in liquid cheese? That's just not cool. And to top it off, the wait staff giving you grief about it? Telling me I did order cheese!!! Not the kind of customer service i'd expect. It's frustrating when you have to go through all that trouble just to get what you ordered. And then, the remake takes forever and turns out burnt? Talk about adding insult to injury. I took it to-go because my table mate had long finished her meal. I mean, you're just trying to enjoy a meal without the lactose aftermath, and they serve you a hockey puck instead. Definitely not a place you'd want to give a second chance. It's a shame when a dining experience goes south like that. The food was good as usual! We have been many many times at lunch, and it was great! However, we will not be back after the experience tonight! We sat in the back with a small group of loud group of people using extreme profanity and vulgar language! Expressed this to our server and the hostess seating people in the area. I finally walked over and got us boxes to take our food home. My husband called when we got out in the parking lot, and was told he was too busy! I have eaten here on numerous occasions over the years and attribute so many good memories to this place. Plenty of options and unique dishes to suit anyone's taste! I love that they locally source many of their ingredients and have such helpful staff-- communication is excellent. The restaurant is cozy and has great atmosphere for brunch and dinner! I especially like the back room where seating is a bit more relaxed. Not impressed. I wanted to be.. but they just missed the mark for me. My mom tried this place a year and a half ago. She has been hyping it up ever since. So I was finally in town, had some free time, and decided to check it out with her. Last time she came, she had the fried green tomatoes app and said they were amazing. So we got them. She took one bite and refused to eat any more. I ate one and a half, but couldn't finish them. This is the first time in my life I have ever eaten a HARD fried green tomato. Plus the black eyed peas on top were cold, the batter looked like the fryers needed the oil changed, and the pieces of bacon on top were inedible. These were so bad that we actually got them discounted. Whatever my mom had a year and a half ago is NOT what they served us today. For our entrees I got the Apple Butter Jeans sandwich with fries and an extra side of broccoli and kale salad. The fries were the best part for sure. The sandwich wasnt bad,, but not more than just okay. Skimpy on everything except the ham and spinach. The broccoli and kale salad was more like broccoli and red onion. All I could taste was onion, wish I wouldnt have ordered it at all. Mom got the brisket special with greens and Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was a little dry, but otherwise this was great! It just needed a slice of Texas toast to go with, but I especially liked the BBQ sauce. It was the kind of sauce I could have eaten on anything. The drink I ordered was really good. The service at the Brown Dog always does great on service. However it was very loud and noisy today. We all enjoyed our meal, but there are several points that stood out for me today. The appetizer Crab cakes were soggy and had the consistency of tuna salad that had been breaded and fried. The "Big Nasty" was big and SALTY! This was corrected and a new plate was brought out without the extremely salty gravy. However, the she crab soup was brought out in two portions, when only one was ordered. The unfortunate thing was that we watched someone in the kitchen dump the second bowl back into the soup that was being used to serve other guests The sandwich's that two other members of our party had were good. We tried the dessert beignets were not "beignets". Hard on the outside and raw dough consistency on the inside. It almost felt like Sopaipilla that you would get at a Mexican restaurant with all the honey on the plate. We have always loved the Brown Dog, but today, not so much . read more

The food was ok, But my entrée was very hot (spicy) it was sundried tomato rigatoni with blackened chicken. I asked to talk to the owner because the waitress didn't seem interested in what I had to say. The owner was horrible. I tried to tell him the food was over spiced and very hot, instead of offering to remake it. He deflected in perfect style. Telling me he had been watching me and I was not nice to his employees. Which was not true. His wife and kids were sitting next to me, and I did get upset when the waitress came over to talk to her and put her dirty shoe up on the seat next to me. who would do that while someone was eating? He then proceeded to ask me "why are you here if you're unhappy" well I wasn't unhappy when I walked in! I said well I guess that's just who I am, I'm sorry my face wasn't more pleasing to him. I loved the astectics of this restaurant as soon as I walked in. My server name was Mary, and she was detailed about the menu and many on tap beers. I tried the berry mojito with fresh blackberries and mint. Being from Miami, I was spoiled with amazing mojitos, and this place made me feel at home. So I got to try their chicken tacos, shrimp tacos, hand cut fries, mac and cheese, cobb salad, and beignets. Everything was cooked to perfection. I loved how crisp and fresh the mixed greens were in the salad. I even learned that they cook with fresh ingredients from the garden a few blocks away. The food quality to me was amazing. I would definitely recommend this establishment. The beignets were a bit too sweet for me. It had honey and preservatives that were sweet as well. My girls and I were visiting her family in Georgia and had gotten an Airbnb in Carrollton, which had a more countryside feel. Our Airbnb recommended Brown Dog Eatery so we went there for brunch on a Friday morning and opted to sit outside. The menu had several interesting items and we decided on the duck fat fries (topped with collard greens, Mac and cheese and pulled pork) for the table, my friends got the poke sandwich, grilled salmon wrap, and I got the southern charm burger (fried green tomato, bacon, sweet relish and a beef patty) with mac and cheese. The fries and my meal were ok and average priced. We got pretty full from the fries so by the time my meal arrived, I could only eat half of it. We decided to get the southern strawberry shortcake and banana pudding to go, which I didn't like that much. The flavors and textures just weren't there for me. The food was overall good, nothing super wowed me but it was a decent first brunch in Georgia. read more

Whenever we visit my parents in Villa Rica, it's quite a struggle to find a "go to" restaurant with good food and good ambiance. After many years of searching, we FINALLY found it here. Great service and they dev have that gastro pub type of vibe. Service was quick and super friendly. Food was great. We had the appetizer poutine, the she-crab soup bowl, one of the burgers and Mac and cheese as the side. I'll have to say it's quite on the heavier side, but it is pub food after all. The she crab soup was tasty at first but then it got really watery halfway through - so I was bummed out. I also found clumps of flour? The poutine was also heavy, but that duck fat gravy was stellar. The cheese was a bit overwhelming, but we just worked our way around it. Burger and Mac and cheese were the main star of the show, so now we know to stick with the pub fare from here on out. All in all, great atmosphere, great service, and on long with pub fare. I ordered water with lemon, The Gintleman drink which was quite tasty & not watered down. I had the Cobb Salad and substituted the ranch dressing for the Avocado Lime dressing. DELICIOUS!! For such a busy restaurant the sound of people talking and servers delivering food went completely unnoticed as the restaurant absorbed the acoustics. Why I noticed the acoustics particularly was due to meeting with friends whom I hadn't seen in 10 years and enjoyed everything about our time together. Do you have over an hour time to wait for mediocre food? This place is for you. My side of fries were nothing but crumbs from the last parts of the french fry bag. My mother in law's burger was salty. My husband's fig-n-pig sandwich was good, but they skimped out on the meat. Spend your money elsewhere...don't even bother wasting time or money here. Our server was nice and friendly when she came to the table, but she went missing when I needed more napkins. I had to use my husband's napkin. She never came back with napkins.
